The Inca say that the structures were already built before they got there. The Inca did not have the skills or knowledge to build the megalithic structures. There are often three different styles of stonework with the higher quality was on the bottom, a lesser quality in the middle and the Incan on the top is of very poor quality compared to the other two.

The author does not approach it with a pet theory or preconceived notion that he wishes to prove, but rather from a true and clear eyed spirit of inquiry.
what I really love about this series is how respectful it is of these old world civilizations, it always finds something to praise them for instead of calling them primitive or simple. like commenting on how pretty the thatch roofs must have looked. To us they might not have looked very special but to the people living at that time it must have been. really pulls you into what it might have been like living at this age, awesome stuff.
Oh I agree alot of these civilizations were the cutting edge of thier day and we wouldn't have made it as far as we did without building on top of them we sit on the shoulders of the giants who came before.
The buildings themselves even more impressive. There is no cement. Just stone. And those stones were carved without iron tools, so...stone on stone. And in an area that sees minor earthquakes often, it's amazing that they're still standing. If you look into the corners of some bldgs at Machu Picchu, it's even more marvelous, when you see how closely they fit together

The narration is world class. The only thing that saddens me somewhat is that they started showing the presenter and making it partly about them instead of entirely about the topic. It used to be unbelievably refreshing to not have a sequence where a presenter talks about themself.
1:12:12 For those who are interested in the topic of polygonal masonry. A number of methods for obtaining the polygonal masonry are proposed. The basis of the proposed methods is the use of clay/gypsum replicas, a topography translator, and reduced clay models of the stone blocks along with a 3D-pantograph. The results are presented in the article: “Fabrication methods of the polygonal masonry of large tightly-fitted stone blocks with curved surface interfaces in megalithic structures of Peru” (DOI: 10.20944/preprints202108.0087.v7). TH-cam does not allow a direct link. Search by the article title.
Excellent link. I also see you're the author, I've been interested in the subject for a few years, polygonal masonry has been used in several places worldwide. I'd take any more links you have on the topic whether you have to just give keywords to find them. I'm certainly no expert or even amateur on the topic which is why I ask.
@@brianknezevich9894 See more links in the article section "Used materials". Unfortunately, some interesting materials (for example, Alexander Tamanskiy, GRESAR) have not yet translations in English (GRESAR is translated partially).
I had a quick peek at the link and it argues sites such as Sacsayhuaman (which is built by Incas in 1400s) can only be built by Europeans in 17th century because according to the writer Incas didn't have the necessary technology or methods. I found it very insulting to this amazing civilization(whose recorded language we can't even decipher today) and I am not surprised that the article is not peer-reviewed.
@@abdulkadirerenozturk8497 By the time the Europeans conquered the South America, the Indians did not know either iron tools or wheel or potter’s wheel, did not have draft animals, did not own the technology of firing bricks, and possessed no written language. Where is the amazing civilization? The recorded language which "we can't even decipher today" represents primitive memory knots. Say, five bags of potatoes means 5 knots on a string named "potato" (say, colored in brown). What do you want to decipher here, Homer's Iliad? I am afraid that the arrived Europeans taught the Indians this simple counting method.

Majestic beauty, nice people, people still living native America ways, the food is fabulous, ruins everywhere and prices are right. Everything but machu picchu was pretty cheap. I got rooms and day tours for under $30. $80 dollars a day for a single traveler doing lots of stuff and stuffing my face..lol Hint..flights are cheap and fast in Peru. Buses are super nice but unless your going up or down the coastal highway, they are slow in the mountains. Huscarean park and Trujillo in the north are not as popular as places in The South but should be. The one is a mountain park. The other is a city with a very nice square and many ruins from 2 cultures right outside town. Loved spain, Austria, Turkey and believe it or not southern Mexico. Maya mexico was super safe, lots of ruins, jungle and cloud forests, native Americans which were nice just not down by cancun. Merida, Palenque, San cristabol de la casas was a trip back in time.

@@RostislavLapshin I'm multilingual, but only in Germanic and dead European languages, if that's any help.
Peru is the most beautiful country in South America! I love Peru from Italy

All countries are beautiful and that’s subjective.
Will be there this time next week…can’t wait….
I start watching these videos and can't stop. I ....can't...stop. Wonderful content.
The only thing wrong with this channel is the interval between vids is too long. I totally understand why, but please for love of all the gods - give this man the same funding that the History Channel wastes every year on muppets.
sadly this will probably never happen. This is not flashy or dramatic enough for those channels (which is why i love this)
There is nothing wrong with this channel, can you imagine all the work done, studying, sourcing, writing, recording to present such works of art, and for free no less! Have some respect.
We need the time between podcasts to listen to them three or four times to soak in all the details. Then we get to watch the versions with video accompaniment.
But but... It's the ALIENS
Peru is one place I would love to go back. I spent 6 weeks there. It is beautiful. So many places in the country to see . I even spent a week in the Amazon jungle. Get up to Cusco. Walk the city. I also took a bus to Lake Titicaca

Truly, one of the most thoroughly researched documentaries that I have ever watched. Thanks for sharing this knowledge with us!
as a Peruvian i am very happy to see you making this content... also very cool of you to make mention, or at least show Caral even if only for a moment...
Love Peru. Nowhere has the majestic beauty and ruins everywhere by so many different groups. Simply my favorite country to visit.
Grande hermano peruano, saludos desde Argentina
Even as a little girl Peru has always been my first choice of places to go. I have yet to go anywhere outside of the US except for a trip to Jamaica… I will go there one day
@@mandeyoung3495 I have been blessed enough to have travelled many places. Peru was my favorite place of all. Dont want too, plan it. Majestic beauty, nice people, people still living native America ways, the food is fabulous, ruins everywhere and prices are right. Everything but machu picchu was pretty cheap. I got rooms and day tours for under $30. $80 dollars a day for a single traveler doing lots of stuff and stuffing my face..lol
Hint..flights are cheap and fast in Peru.
Merida, Palenque, San cristabol de la casas was a trip back in time.
love peru!! Peru is my dream country
This channel has been saving my life during lockdown
So nice to hear your wonderful voice and watch your amazing work. In this messed up world you are bringing some much needed relief. Be blessed. Gratitude snd love from South Africa. ❤️
Your productions are SO magnificent! I've developed an automatic response of awness and emotional moving to the melancholic piano chords at the beginning in anticipation of a new delightful chronicle. Thank you for your work!
One of My favorite things to do on Sunday mornings is listening to your history lessons. I thank you from my soul.
This is absolutely incredible ! I’ve always wanted to learn about The Inca, and its hard for a layman (like me) to find anything of any great detail anywhere - so i really appreciate that you put this together for us!. This documentary (and all your documentaries really) is so well made! Thank you for all the time you put into this! I feel like I’ve learned so much. Can’t wait to start watching part 2
Between Fall of Civilisations and History Time, both have the high quality documentaries that cannot be matched anywhere. Please keep it up!
I absolutely love your docs. I have learned so much. I have seen your Assyrian and Mexica docs so far and they were incredible. Please continue doing this! You are the best! I will donate more when I can.
I've watched all the episodes and I have to say the ability to visualize these stories brings such satisfaction
Machu Picchu is amazing. I travel around the globe n this site is by far the most awesome, better than Rome 😂. Breathtaking perfection. Complete harmony. Peaceful. Serene. Love it. It’s not high altitude, actually lower than Cusco.
Coca leaves also help w altitude sickness.
absolutely! The most incredible place I have seen in my life.
and did you see anything like art or pictures to prove it was the Inca who built it?
@Janitor Queen your just trying to make me look dumb. It was us who built them
Machupichu takes your breath away, and yes it's lower in altitude compared to Cusco.
Hey Paul, I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep partly due to adhd and depression - but your productions fill a quite rare niche of stimulating content and nice audio production. So thanks for getting me to sleep so many times! I'm a huge fan of your stuff otherwise and can't wait to see how you progress :)
Same. It gives me something else for my brain to focus on. It's sort of embarrassing how many times I have to replay parts of the episodes in order to hear the entire thing, but it's a massive complement that I actually do replay these as many times as it takes to get through them. I haven't given up on one yet. I love them.
You said it better than i could, but i'm totally agree with you. With every word.
I tell everyone i know about this page. Even have to watch episodes multiple times just so i can retell the stories better! Thanks thanks thanks sooo much! ❤️
Such a great channel! Have to rewatch it now, as i fell asleep. Paul’s voice is just too soothing…
then speaks the first reader who sounds like the male google translate voice, but actualy a human instead of google translate.
Yes his voice is more interesting than the information as this didn’t teach much as to acquiring real knowledge
The history of Peru is one of the largest and most important in the history of humanity in the Americas is the most important absolutely.
You must ask how desert happen and by what kind weapond 😅😅😅😅 .. pyramid is not build for human 😊😊😊😊 i hv seen it all but must remain quiet as reward😢😢😢😢
I have been plugging your channel so much my friends have a "here we go again" meme about it. Love your work! thanks for the video. Been excited for this one.
Thanks Peter, I really appreciate you spreading the word!
Dear Sir, I can’t thank you enough for Fall of Civilisations. You’re my absolute hero!
Agreed

Wow the visuals in the beginning are breathtaking! You’re content is top notch & I loveeeee getting a notification that you uploaded bc I know I’m in for a fascinating trip through history lol. It’s a gloomy Sunday morning & The fact that I can make my coffee & lay in bed to watch this makes me happy haha. Thank you!
Thank you! Yes I love these aerials so much.
I remember sitting up there watching the clouds. Peru is amazing.
Paul's work is so excellent! They are the best on TH-cam, if not the whole of the internet AND TV! Spread the word people ! ! !
I was watching Netflix scrolling around on my phone….the tv is now off and I’m I DEEP! Amazing content!
Always worth the wait!! As a native Hawaiian, hearing about the incredible feat of these terraces in the Andes gets me excited to hear what you would have to say about Hawaii's fishponds, Heiau's, and taro patches. If the rise and fall of Old Hawai'i ever became an interest to you. -K
I really like this idea!
If you didn’t know. Hiram Bingham was born in Hawai’i, early missionary family.

There are about 3 TH-cam channels where I always watch the ads because they deserve any compensation they can get and this is one of them. Great work as always.
Could you name the other two, please?
@@alvarorubenvera5915 No I'm not naming them because I feel like you want to give a lecture on the right TH-cam channels to support and I don't feel like hearing it.
Possibly if not the most well made documentary I’ve seen in a very long time. Watching everything in this channel
I know it’s not really a small channel, but I like to see this as a secret little corner of the internet that only few of us know about

Too late. this has 3.2 million views already.
This is a great documentary. Covers the history of Peru and the Incas extremely well.
If only my university lecturers had managed to retain my rapt attention in the way you do with your content I might have come out with several first class honours rather than the 2:1 and 2:2 that i ended up with. Thank you for the huge amount of work you put into this content. @Fall of Civilizations
The very best documentaries that I have ever seen in my life, the amount of quality and detail is astounding and I always love the epic background music.
The quality of these videos is literally unparalleled. 👍🏻🔥😁
I literally LOVE how this guy starts the videos. Best intros ever
During my brief visit to Machu Picchu, the guide informed us it was built as a type of University, a place for the young to be trained in the priestly, noble study of the stars. I cannot speak to the veracity of this, but found the idea very intriguing.
I visited as well, and have never heard that theory, either (and read extensively on the pre-Columbian civs, as I taught Spanish for years)
They were lying. It was a temple of doodoo worship
I went to Peru in 2011. It is amazing. So many things to see and do . I spent 2 days at MP . I'd go back if I had the time and money . There are so many beautiful place to see in the world . We that can do it are blessed.
It is an incredible place
I used to live in Bolivia and Peru 10 years between La Paz, El Alto, Sica Sica, Puno, Sucre, and Arequipa. Thank you for making this one. I've been waiting for it! Cheers!
Another mesmerizing episode. I'll never get enough of these podcasts. Will be watching them again and again.

True intelligence has, at its heart, a welcoming presence that brings a light of knowledge onto the populace. Rare is the gift of oratory that transfixes an audience to fully injest mounds of information, only to want more. Mr. Copper, your talents are immeasurable at bringing dusted history to living life with the best historical documentaries I have ever seen! I am a huge history buff, having watched every serious television historical documentary series made over the past four decades and your work is unequalled. You elicit an incredible range of emotions from your audience with your poetic and lyrical approach to the all-too-often tragic ends of past world cultures. Let the lesson ring out every time that we see one of your newest episodes.....every cultural operational system that helps a civilization exist is far more fragile than we can ever think.

You suggested that Machu Pichou is one of the most recognizable ruins in the world. I agree but would take it a step further. I think it is one of the most recognizable centres even compared to Paris, London, New York, or any other great city of today. Such a great series you have created. Many thanks.
Is really amazing Manchu Picchu! Choquequirao the other city Inca is so amazing
