I love the Amazon cast list during the movie because then I don’t have to leave the movie to figure out where I recognize them from and that usually drives me crazy if I don’t know
I legitimately thought the reason the prince had two friends was to set up some love interests for the stepsisters. That would have given them some reason to exist and an ending for the stepsisters that made sense.
The fact that one of the rats is played by James Acaster, who is infinitely funnier than James Corden, yet Corden gets all their screen time is just downright criminal.

If Dylan finally wants to see an emotionally satisfying Cinderella story WITH VIOLENCE he needs to watch Ella Enchanted. Minnie Driver in that movie is 👌
Ella Enchanted is okay as a movie. The book was an absolute MASTERPIECE of children's literature and was my favorite book for *years*. I try really, really hard not to hate the movie (loved it as a little kid) but once I got older and read the book, I realized there was absolutely no comparison.
LEss violence but also the new version of ''three wishes for cinderella'' - It is Norwegian instead of the original UdSSR Version and it ends in like - Him wanting to marry her and she is like : We have time. We should get to know each other more before this (Also since the original is one of the mot famous version of the cinderella story .... and the new Norwegian one just changes very little about it)

I mean, the movie was okay, but yeah it definitely wasn't like...a Groundbreaking Feminist movie lmao. Though to be fair, it's set back when women didn't have as many/the same rights that modern women do, so it makes sense that the stepmom is concerned with matchmaking her daughters and Cinderella.
Dylan in one video: “i’m not a violent person” (not the exact phrase but somewhere along the lines of it) Also Dylan: **wishes for murder/death in every commentary he makes**
I actually really like that Dylan does comedy AND constructive criticism. I feel like I'm always learning something new, or I'm getting a new perspective on something. Really amazing structure, Dylan! Hope you can keep it like this for further episodes as well :))
Exactly. For just comedic commentary and cool animation I watch Alex Meyers. Dylan brings up things I would not think of and it's nice to see someone comment a movie who actually knows something about moviemaking but without making it too serious
I LOVE YOUR COMMENTARY!!!! the way you approach it is so refreshing, as you actually talk about what the movie could technically have done better without bashing on the things they actually did do well for the sake of comedy
"There's no one else I'd rather be with in this world than you." "You've known her a daaay!!" Thank you as always for being the voice of reason, Dylan.
The movie: Women are so oppressed that it's impossible to even imagine a woman working by selling dresses. Also the movie: Women always sharply discuss with men with no consequences, some actually are seen working at the court, a queen who murdered her opponent is a welcome guest, and everything is systematically solved with two days and four conversations. Basically, they want to deliver an uplifting message, but without going through not-so-uplifting stuff that would warrant that kind of message. While morally commendable, it's script-wise forced and clunky. There are some nice and interesting ideas thrown in here, but are never actually explored.
I still can't believe they added a queen that killed the king to take over the kingdom for her own sake and then made the cameras to follow cinderella around. We've known this story for like 200 milion times give us something new. Why not making cinderella "her" daughter? Or even ignore cinderella and focus on the queen's past. That was waaay more interesting for me.
@@kiana5576 Queen Tatiana is a very interesting character in her premise. Surprise, surprise, she is under-utilized in this film. Also worth noting is that apparently sea monsters exist in this universe, and they aren't even visually seen on screen. Do writers know the difference between interesting and not interesting? Interesting - A queen who made a coup, Fairy Godmother and a sea monster. Not interesting - Prince's lackey getting a romantic monologue at the 11th hour!

@@___9370 I don’t like the movie because it’s in your face with it’s message over a topic that isn’t even an issue in today’s world. I don’t really find the humor funny tbh. Women in royalty were actually in line for the throne and weren’t oppressed from the throne and women who were in the seamstress business was never an issue during the era. They have been a thing for hundreds of years so I don’t see why they were patting themselves on the back.
Not the best film. I still dislike it with its “in your face” message about female empowerment and the humor is not that great and the medieval setting with a mode is pretty jarring.

I really like it, I think Prime video is the best. Random facts and song names all right there when I pause. So, I don't have to go to IMDb or look up the song lyrics
Fun fact: that guy that fell at the ball, the fall wasn’t planned 😂 he made a TikTok saying they just kept it in and he didn’t know they were going to until the movie was done
Dylan, apparently the actor that played the guy who slipped posted on Instagram that he actually slipped and they kept it in but added the falling sound effect.
I don't think the writers were using their brains when thinking of the plot. They were so focused on "girl power" and being a "strong independent woman who don't need no man." Cinderella talks so much about making her own choices and being free to follow her dreams without the help of a man, but working as the queens seamstress is being her servant. Cinderella wouldn't get to pick the designs she wanted to make. Everything would be controlled by the queen. Marrying the prince would've been the most advantatious for "making her dream come true" she could've led him to change laws and had royal messengers spread word of her amazing designs.
It's baffling to me that even after all these years Hollywood movies can't seem to find the right balance for their princesses. I grew up watching both Disney and Miyazaki animations, and even as a kid I always felt myself more drawn to Miyazaki's female protagonists. But I never disliked Disney's princesses either. These days, however, with all the Disney remakes I'm starting to like them less and less. They just constantly make these female protagonists sing and shout "Look at me! I'm a strong independent woman." And the message is so in your face that has become annoying to me, and I'm a woman. And they seem to think that the only way to show how strong and smart women are is to show that men are shallow and stupid. They just can't figure out how to do this right. I guess that is what I most like about Miyazaki's female protagonists. They are just smart, brave, strong and kind without it feeling awkward or forced. And the male protagonists are just as good. This is what I was expecting to see in these Disney remakes. Sadly, it wasn't the case.
I personally LOVED Cinderella growing up, they butchered it in this movie… I also hate how people bash on Cinderella when she wasn’t anything like people like to think she was…
Dylan: *doesn't know who Billy Porter the Broadway legend is* Also Dylan: *doesn't know that Material Girl is a song by Madonna* Me: I'm very disappointed, but I still love you.
The stages of Dylan’s movie watching. Pre-depression A slim thread of hope Bargaining It’s-so-bad-it’s-funny It’s-not-funny Defeat Sour patch kids And final, utter depression. Tootles.
Dylan, halfway through the video while watching Material Girl: "Is this- Does this song exist?" Yes, Dylan, they are all covers. How did you not recognize Somebody To Love?????
The thing I think is hilarious is they also sang the song Somebody To Love in the Ella Enchanted movie which is a Cinderella movie and it had Minnie Driver playing as Mandy who plays Queen Beatrice in this movie.
The only thing I disagree with you on is the King and Queen's marital issues. They kinda did set it up early, it was just little things. But I think they made a difference. For example when she commented on his throne getting higher. Or whenever he would treat her like she was inferior, the camera would linger on her dejected face. Also when she asked him "Did you just say you didn't care if they loved each other?" You were supposed to use your context clues to assume she was also referring to their marriage. I caught onto that when I watched it but maybe thats just me? Also, just overall, the king and the queen have shown to be on different wavelengths about their son's situation. So yeah.. i think that was enough set up for it all to come to a head at the end.
They WERE hinting at the king and Queen's storyline since the beginning, since the prince told him that it was a good thing his mother came with 3 castles and a hundred horses or otherwise he wouldn't have been born, and then the king tells him he doesn't know what he is talking about. It implies that his kid sees them as a loveless marriage yet there was a time where they loved each other. And then it progresses with the Queen thinking he finally got it right by allowing his son to marry for love(Another thing Dylan missed, he changed his mind and told his son he could marry anybody because that was the only way to continue his legacy after the first time the prince threatened to abdicate the throne) and getting upset after when he decides he doesn't care if his son marries someone he doesn't love
I really want to see a Cinderella where she says "no" to the prince (since that is where most versions are going now) and the prince is like "cool, kill her" I think that would make a proper twist.
Yes perfect
This is a fabulous idea but the marketers would need to make it extra clear that its an adult movie lol

I love when Cinderella gets yelled at for sitting on the father statue, she apologizes WHILE STILL SITTING ON THE STATUE AND NOT GET OFF
The movie: Women are so oppressed that it's impossible to even imagine a woman working by selling dresses.

I don't think the writers were using their brains when thinking of the plot. They were so focused on "girl power" and being a "strong independent woman who don't need no man."
Cinderella talks so much about making her own choices and being free to follow her dreams without the help of a man, but working as the queens seamstress is being her servant. Cinderella wouldn't get to pick the designs she wanted to make. Everything would be controlled by the queen. Marrying the prince would've been the most advantatious for "making her dream come true" she could've led him to change laws and had royal messengers spread word of her amazing designs.
wow i didnt even think of that until now but you're so right
It's baffling to me that even after all these years Hollywood movies can't seem to find the right balance for their princesses.
Yeah, i agree 100%
I personally LOVED Cinderella growing up, they butchered it in this movie… I also hate how people bash on Cinderella when she wasn’t anything like people like to think she was…
