Thanks Matt! You’re one of the best masters/instructors on TH-cam because of the way you break everything down into its simpler steps and motions, then combine them their into the end result.

    Thanks for the video.
I'll answer your question first. I do most of my staff routine with two inch-and-a-half diameter hickory staffs that have been treated with boiled linseed oil. One of them is five feet long, and I don't know the weight of that one. The other is six feet long and weighs four pounds and a few ounces if I remember correctly. I remember the four pounds for certain. I think the ounces were somewhere between three and seven. I use this heavier staff for my regular walking stick as well. When I'm doing my club routine, I'll do a little bit with a four-foot dowel rod that isn't oiled and is probably made from pine or something similar. This one is light, and I'm really just doing this to rest my arms and hands and keep them loose when I'm resting from the swinging clubs. I sometimes do finger rolls with an inch-and-an-eighth diameter hickory cane that has been soaked in mineral oil and rubbed with boiled linseed oil. I've never weighed that one that I can remember.
Over Christmas, I think I found a situation where doing staff passes from hand to hand is impossible. If I have a staff in one hand and am using the other hand to hold the leash on my Dad's seventy-five pound golden retriever puppy, doing a pass just doesn't seem possible.
I'm not getting much staff and cane practice right now because of the cold weather. The air in the shop where I do those routines is probably below freezing right now, and when my hands get numb, I get really bad at this stuff. Maybe I'm going to miss a few months of doing my full routine, but that's life. I'll try to find some way to do parts of the routine.
I'm going out in a few minutes to try to dig some of the snow in front of the shop door. If I can get the snow cleared, I'll at least have a chance to go in the shop occasionally and do a little bit. They dug the bulk of my driveway yesterday with a front-end loader, so I was able to walk today.

I prefer a heavy staff but I like to work with a light one as well. When I was young,I learned to spin hammers, tossing them in the air and catching them. I’m trying too get that back and learn to juggle them. The staff work helps me develop those skills and I appreciate the concept of flow that you teach.

    Thank you so much...🙏.
I apologise in advance if some evil creatures will start harassing your channel and me again because they are checking what I watch on TH-cam (apologise for them though they're not having any moral values).
Because of them I became chronically ill. I believe that's exactly what they wanted and they are pleased to read this.
I'm not religious but I believe in God.
No human can explain why there is so much evil in this world.
One day, they will have to face themselves.
    May God bless you, Sir.

@@pasquinilli Matt - I have a maple bo staff from OKINAWA that was left outside accidentally for months, and all the varnish is gone and the wood is dangerously dried out, although, there is no cracks or splitting yet. Can you suggest a good way to restore it?
