at first i couldn't get that spin or even get it to go around my body properly and i thought ok. drop the spinning there's no circle , no moving it round my body so what is it !!!? and ok empty my mind of anything that u know , ok , about this anyway, so the man is saying just move the hands , did the warm up , then , well , i couldn't see for the life of me how this was going to work , so move the hand from side to side in a figure eight or that forever sign and i could not believe the way it was falling into place , its amazing can't wait to get into more of this ,,,thankyou teacher ...still don't get why it spins around the body the way it does i concentrate on that figure eternity sign from my hands and the rest just follows ..love it .
Watching from Preston England and loving youre energy!! Just started with a staff and the way you put things across resonates big time. Thank you for your time and many blessings are coming your way ma man, Good Heath to you
Thank you for your video, I am studying how to use the staff for the Ironlights Quest 2 VR game. I figure watching your video would offer some insight as to how some movements I've observed advanced players use can be done. Though the game functions in a strategic Slow Mode mode, the grace I have observed from some players movements are impressive. And yes, circular movements are the order of the day to land damage on an opponent in the game though some moves are limited by the mechanics. Nontheless, at 65 I am now interested in really understanding the book and look forward to your future videos. Thank you.
Excellent video I see where you mention in certain videos no partner to demonstrate certain thecniques maybe making a stick man dummy, might help, always look forward to seeing your videos.
As long as it’s of average length and semi even weight wise on the ends it should be okay; I use a stick with a heavier end but as long as I keep my hands in the center regions they work decently The weight mostly effects spins from level 1
Back in the 1980's when I was building houses (I was a carpenter), I watched a guy beat the crap out of maybe six guys using a hoe. He was spinning it like this... I've always wanted to learn how to do what that guy did...
I wondered why I hadn't seen this one and then realized that this video was from before I had found your channel. In the technique that you are teaching about the 9:45 mark, I realize that an important part is letting go of the staff with the pinkie, ring finger, and even middle finger a little bit on the hand under the elbow. I was sitting here trying and not seeing how I could ever do this. I realized that one has to loosen those fingers in the final block to let the staff pivot as you are doing.
Cardio seems totally out of control by the little presentation of strikes for shattering opponents teeth - for self defense! I'm a bit speechless about this "profound" demonstration of air fighting skills. And when something real like a punching ball on head level has to be hit, a ball on the floor is in the way. Sorry, was this some kind of slap stick video?
Ha ha ha ha I love your description! I do tend to get winded when making these videos! I wasn’t going for the slapstick, but I appreciate your comment.

Question. I don't have a staff and is using a stick that I found outside. Do these moves still work on a shorter stick?
As long as it’s of average length and semi even weight wise on the ends it should be okay; I use a stick with a heavier end but as long as I keep my hands in the center regions they work decently
The weight mostly effects spins from level 1
love it
Love your video reallly interested in learning
The master appears 😖👍Sensei Matt👏😂

Not only wrists and shoulders, it's potential defense too...
Hello. What is the length of the bo you are using? Also, does the length of a bo varies on the market? Thank you.
I use a 72” Bo. The Bo also can be five feet or four feet. Get one that is about as tall as you are.
How many levels do you have sir
That's a good way to get them obstacles out of the way hahahahaha.
Where can I find the sti CV k
I’m 5’3” what length should I make my bo staff?
5’ or 5’5”

After hitting under the chin, hit on top of the head?
Which is your last level sir .
I’m 5’4”” what size Bo Staff should it be
Between 5’5” and 6’ should work well!
@@pasquinilli thanks Matt really enjoy your videos
Doing these warmups not only for bo-staff practice but also makes a good warmup before a workout. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone
is that the 72 inch by 1 inch staff?
Yes!
Sir my height is 5.5 . How many inches of staff should I buy Sir.
I seen him coment on someone else 5'4" he said 5'5" to 6' staff should work well. Hope I'm not to late! Just started bo lessons myself
Sensei, It would be very useful to tell us how many seconds or minutes to spend at every different movement.
30 seconds per move per hand. Great question thanks!
He said this a few times within the first 60 seconds of the video.
Why are there 2 videos of your with this same title
I probably forgot I made one already!
@@pasquinilli oh ok there's no actual problem I just got a little confused, the two videos have different content besides the title so it's ok
Haha. I forget sometimes that I use a title. I
Think I have a few doubles like that.
I am 11 and I know how to use the bo staff
