Dear Flora and Note I love your new series of talks. You are both amazing. I agree with everything you said about luxury. For me I would add: Pets (especially my two cats), natural seasonal organic food, a safe peaceful environment (preferably with warm sunny weather), a spiritual practice (which helps with calm mind). It could be yoga, going to temple/ church /nature etc. Just a few tips: I visited the Samui Meditation Center in Bophut and loved it, maybe you could give it a try, they are very welcoming and you can only try an evening meditation for one hour.

The one luxury I seek is the ability to travel more. A quiet mind definitely takes more effort these days especially having to disconnect ourselves from social media. Everywhere you look, it’s almost difficult to unplug yourself from the matrix.

FYI, I think health most important for me, even I used to have all the 6 luxuries, until last month, where I lost the ability to stand or walk due a muscle degenerative disease. I trying to be strong & positive now by watching both of you travelling when I miss traveling & outdoor activities (i used to be active outdoor, from hiking to camping & touring on motorbike around the region etc)

We have a big tropical veggie garden, fruit trees and chickens so we spend a very leisurely 2 hours every morning just pottering and talking to the chooks😁It's is so calming 😊
Some of what I consider as a luxuries (top of mind): - The ability to do whatever I need to do (sometimes, want to do) - Having clean toilet with flush, bidet with strong water pressure, soap and tissue - Travel - Having healthy food and the ability to cook / prepare them anytime I want - Waking up with no alarm and peacefully do my morning rituals - Grocery shopping without worry of price and total bill - Paying bills on time monthly - Window shopping to pass time - Driving around my city just because

I love these 6 luxuries of life. I have all of them. #1 I am retired now and have all the time i need. #2 is I have very good health that I work on. #3 is my walks I do every day. I get lost in my own happy thoughts and positive self talk. It is the most important part of every day for me. #4 every morning I can wake up any time I want. #5 I live abroad and travel all over too. #6 a house full of love. It is just me, but my home is filled with love because I am the most important love. Also, ignore those who talk about politics in countries. About more luxuries, I think most people in developed countries take clean air, water, power, food, peace, personal freedom for granted but they are luxary in other parts of the world. Sorry if I sound too political but we need to cherish every moment possible where we are surrounded by what most people consider basic human necessities. Coming from India and now living in North Carolina, I keep reminding myself of how lucky I am to be surrounded by luxuries, specially the ones money can not buy!

There are 'times' when aloneliness sets in and periods where expectations fallen, and recovery through 'letting go' and expression of unconditional love (only moms and parents shown these right? haha) when one juggles between these six luxuries of life; i also feel they (in combination) can be mutually exclusive and were pulling each other towards the outer webs of a spidery trajectory of life! I guessed 'companionship', and I meant 'a perfect match' (of either couples, best buddies, or lifelong mates, may be a surprisingly beautiful acquaintance, albeit love or buddy scams, haha), which may not be truly in existant is important for one to be blessed with a luxury that many turn a blind eye to! As for the both of you, going through the thick and thin 'together' may be destined, but admitedlly, a blessing that can only occurs in a million! Hope the pessimism about luxuries in life, or what makes life a comfortable or happy one to live about (optmism, per say), are both neither merely a 'facade', nor 'dreams come true'! Yes, physical, mental and Spiritual health are all vital; aloneliness occuring in these spheres do happen, and can alters the balance in a split seconds. It's good to hear you're honestly sharing your experiences on these six luxury things in life! As a retired couple, my wife and I can travel during our old age, and we can walk and do short hiking, but we're not super athletic! Our health is not perfect, but it is good enough compared to our friends of the same age. We don't have to take any prescription medication, which is a plus! We just returned from our trip to Koh Samui, and your channel information helped with some places we were trying to do, like hiking up to the Nang Yuan viewpoint and overlap stones, which was tough for us, so without good physical health then, we wouldn't be able to experience that beautiful viewpoint! Having good health is a luxury money cannot buy! This already makes you rich! Health will fulfill the other five luxuries on the list!
So excited that y’all are in South Korea! I sure wish I had more time. This capitalistic daily grind is exhausting. I love it that y’all have forged a life style that you both enjoy and allow me to enjoy with the content y’all put out.
We love it here! Busan is more affordable than Seoul so perhaps we’ll come back for a longer stay next time. It’s so relaxed and has beautiful coastal walks and beaches 😍
@OTR_FloraandNote Busan is one of my favourite city, it is so underrated and overshadowed by Seoul. Imagine where you guys are sitting now will be filled with cherry blossoms in April time! Those mountains you see around the city, almost all of them have trails to go up, you just need to find the trail head around the corner of the city. I am not a city person just like Note, but if I must chose a city to live, Busan is definitely one of my top pick.
As for my wealth, I'd say on most of those....it depends. I'm always short on time, but only because I'm always busy with friends/family outside of work so it's not bad having little time to myself. I'd say I'm FAR from fit, but my health is generally OK (currently sick though). Quiet mind is not a luxury I'll ever have, bit of an over thinking nerd. There's always something bouncing around in there! I get plenty of opportunity to travel, which I love. It's given me friends across the world that a truely cherish. Slow mornings? Maybe on a weekend! Work days are like you guys used to have, joys of the rat race! And a house full of love? As a perpetually single guy I often feel like I'm lacking that. But then I remember the wide array of friends I have. My house may not have much love, but I know I'll never be truely alone 😊
Having even half of those means you’re rich 😊 It’s hard to maintain all of them at once.. so picking and choosing what to focus on is also important. Hope you get better soon! We also need to prioritize our health 💪🏼

Travelling is definitely a luxury for me, but I need to do it way more often. And while travelling taking photos with my camera really clears my mind. And I’m specifically mentioning my camera and not the smartphone, because there is a difference at least to me. Using the camera slows me down a lot more, I’m way more focused using the camera, which than clears my mind.

Didn't you buy some land to build a house on? What happened with that? A reflection: Can you have a quiet mind as a creative person? As a creative entrepreneur I have a hard time to not think about and processing things all the time, day and night. Meditating now and then but start to feel like I waste time doing that...Perhaps because I'm older and realizing time is running out...
I own all my time, slow mornings, ability to travel, health (knocking on wood). I have almost no love and the busiest mind I know. That’s a terrible combination btw.
I love that list! I wouldn't consider myself as money rich (I have enough to not worry about money), but I have all 5 out of 6 as well, so I would consider myself pretty "rich" :). The quiet mind is the hard one, that's the one I'm constantly working on too. There're times I feel like I got it, but some tiny little hiccup in life can pushes me out of that state of mind easily, it's a constant working progress

Thanks Flora and Note for the good topic that you shared. Luxuries can be many things, not necessarily money or living in high end luxurious life. To me, its a luxury to be able help the needy, to be able to serve God, to be able to wake up early each morning to start your morning walk, having friends around . Not many people can have that kind of luxurious life. This is my opinion. Enjoy your holidays in South Korea, beautiful country

A reflection: Can you have a quiet mind as a creative person?
As a creative entrepreneur I have a hard time to not think about and processing things all the time, day and night. Meditating now and then but start to feel like I waste time doing that...Perhaps because I'm older and realizing time is running out...
We bought land in Koh Samui. We are saving up to build our dream home now 😊

I own all my time, slow mornings, ability to travel, health (knocking on wood). I have almost no love and the busiest mind I know. That’s a terrible combination btw.
I love that list! I wouldn't consider myself as money rich (I have enough to not worry about money), but I have all 5 out of 6 as well, so I would consider myself pretty "rich" :). The quiet mind is the hard one, that's the one I'm constantly working on too. There're times I feel like I got it, but some tiny little hiccup in life can pushes me out of that state of mind easily, it's a constant working progress
Time = 1/2
Health = yes
Ability to Travel = yes
House of Love = yes
Quiet Mind = not yet
Slow Mornings = 1/2
4/6... on the road to 6/6!
