because boxers and to an extent, fighters are exposed to hardship, struggle and pain. The pressure of fighting in front of a crowd, the uncertainty of how strong your opponent would be, the weight cutting, the discipline to work out. These guys may not be intellectually smart but if you expose a person to that kind of struggle then they're bound to get some wisdom.

These are my 2 favorite CHAMPS of all time. I was a teenager when the 1st fight happened. I was so excited! However, I missed the fight. I was in a car accident and in a coma. I lost one of my best friends (love you Bobby). Another friend that has struggled emotionally since. Another man that WE accidentally killed. Myself badly burned, amputated, and broken. I should have died to. I honestly have no idea how I lived through it. When I was finally able to sit in a wheelchair, this fight was rebroadcast on TV. I sat and watched the fight in the childrens hospital lobby in a wheelchair with my parents. I remember the feeling I had when the bell rang and the fight started. I was so excited. That evening all my pain, scared of future, sadness, washed away for that night. Watching my favorite 2 CHAMPS in the ring, game me hope. That was 20+ years ago and I remember it like yesterday. Thank you for this interview!!!

I swear that Mike Tyson has got to be one of the greatest entertainers of all time! He was blessed with a rare special gift of mesmerizing charisma and talent. They’ll never be another Mike Tyson in this lifetime. This interview with Holyfield was great to see and I know Eb is soaking this all in. Nothing greater than 2 legends telling war stories. Holyfield is a lot like Joe Frazier to me. Two great champions for the ages who unfortunately for them, will be forever eclipsed by arguably the two greatest champions of all time in Ali & Tyson. Both Tyson & Ali were mesmerizing figures in and outside of the ring who gave their respective generations a magical experience. To date, their charisma and talent combined is unmatched. That stated, although I was always Team Tyson, Holyfield, much like Joe Frazier, won my respect in the end because he was and is a warrior! Respect to the champs! 🥃👊🏽💪🏼
How lucky do you gotta be to hear the words "is that a fantasy or a goal?" at 8 years old.. really important to instill the right messages to a child early
The story Holyfield is telling, I'm amazed by Tyson's patience, by allowing his guest to speak for so long, making the show about him, not the presenters

its more common than people would think. A great example would be Duran vs De Jesus, they are rivals that would almost kill eachother in the ring, yet when DeJesus was dying of AIDS, Duran flew over to him to his hospital bed and hugged him, despite during at the time the misconception about AIDS was rampant, that just touching an infected man would infect you too. Duran cried and kissed his cheek and he also had his daughter kiss De Jesus' cheek as well as final respects, De Jesus died a few weeks later.

It's sad Mike never had what Evander had with his mom. I guess if he did ,we may not have Mike... God bless you Mike, we love ya and to some of us, you're our greatest.

People used to think “Boxers” were dumb brutes, but if listen to them talk… you will learn some of the BEST real world life lessons that will help you succeed and be humble. It’s truly Amazing. Thank you, Gentlemen 🙏
Also some of the older wrestlers are amazing philosophers.
because boxers and to an extent, fighters are exposed to hardship, struggle and pain. The pressure of fighting in front of a crowd, the uncertainty of how strong your opponent would be, the weight cutting, the discipline to work out. These guys may not be intellectually smart but if you expose a person to that kind of struggle then they're bound to get some wisdom.
Interesting to see Holyfield’s no quit attitude was instilled by his mother when he was young. This guy would practically fight to the death. Great athlete.
Really goes to show the role of a good mother in a child's life
1981TURBOTRANSAM1 still not as crazy as Joe Frazier though that's a hard one to beat.
well not that i condone beating kids it sure worked in his life atleast.

What an amazing role model. Holyfield story is so wholesome and full of heart and determination.

That’s deep man 👌

Finally the words of wisdom. YES. To the both of them. Grown up folks still argue about which one is which. They are both icons.
Toughness for these guys was surviving everyday life when they were just kids

Felt Mike’s pain when Holyfield was talking about family and his momma at the beginnings could tell Mike was comparing his upbringing in his head.
That's exactly what I was thinking. He had a momma and mike had an addict.
Its good to see two people from opposite upbringing and a common interest come together and bond though
Mike was also thinking about Cus D'amato tho. "White man said I can be like Muhammed Ali.But I don't have much time left."
@@kareemrahman2795 yep. 👌🏽
You literally could see the wheels turning in his head. Also when Evander mentioned his upbringing in boxing, Mike was thinking of Cus D’amato.
"Fantasy is when you want to do something, but you ain't willing to work at it", Mr Morgan. Mind Blown!
Evander's book really should be called "Momma Said Knock You Out!"

Duran cried and kissed his cheek and he also had his daughter kiss De Jesus' cheek as well as final respects, De Jesus died a few weeks later.
