    I went to the Everglades in 2021, it was an airboat tour close to Miami that also had an alligator zoo, once you entered the everglades you felt very secluded and you could find alligators within the first five min, it was a really cool experience and the everglades were very unique from the other environments in Florida

    • @carstarsarstenstesenn
      @carstarsarstenstesenn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vomm Gators do not attack humans unless provoked. Crocodiles are the dangerous and croc attacks are much more frequent than shark attacks

    • @matthewchernesky8382
      @matthewchernesky8382 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vomm It really depends. Alligators, mostly, are non-aggressive. However, they do get a bit more confrontational during mating season… and some people feed them, which makes them more comfortable around humans (which can only lead to disaster). The rule of thumb is to treat any freshwater body here in Florida (pond, lake, river, whatever) as if it has gators in it and act accordingly.

    My parents used to live in Fort Lauderdale, and have a vacation home in Orlando, so we spent a good amount of time driving across the Everglades and swamplands. The funniest thing used to be the GPS… you’d turn North on Highway 27 and the Garmin would say “Drive 185 miles and then turn right”.

    As a native Floridian who grew up 20 miles north of Miami, I'm loving this. The Florida Keys and Everglades are some of the prettiest scenery around. And for that town nestled into the Everglades/Cypress forest area, check out Everglades City for some inspiration! A little town on the west coast of the Everglades which I think would be a great source of ideas! Keep up the great work!

    If your thinking about building on the keys soon, use pastel colors for a lot of the buildings, especially in the Key West island. A lot of the buildings down there are plaster as well, at least from my experience. Another thing is that theres no buildings taller than a palm tree, I've been told that's a rule down there. Its basically Americas slice of the Caribbean (aside from Puerto Rico of course)

    Something that you could incorporate is maybe one or two little towns near the border of the everglades, a good example is this small town called Everglades city (its not that big lol). my idea would to have it at a simple intersection of two highways (if you even have that in the area) Just an idea though love the series so far!

    As someone who grew up in south Florida and visited the everglades a lot this is so impressive, the detail work to make it look realistic is awesome! An Idea for one of the cities/towns in or around the everglades could take inspiration from the Miccosukee reservation on US Highway 41 (around 25.761863, -80.796353), or something similar to the high development of Marco Island west of the everglades

    Looks fantastic. I went to Miami for the first time in May earlier this year. The colorful buildings really stood out to me. When we went on our kayak tour of Biscayne Bay, the tour guide explained how mangroves grow. They have little pea pod shaped seeds that bob in the water until they touch sand, and take root. Once the tree is semi established, the tide flows around the tree and more sand collects around the root system. Thus making more pods able to touch and and take root.
    We came across a few random lone mangroves in the middle of the shallow bay. Maybe add a few to your coast line when you get to that part of the map. Everything looks awesome, man. Keep it up :)

    I've lived near the everglades my whole life. Only ever been to the couple of areas that have nature trails back in high school. We went at night one time and they have these lifted walkways and at the end of one we shined our flashlights into the void and saw dozens of alligator (or crocodile) eyes reflecting back at us. Amazing build!

    This is really impressive. Wish there was some Cities Skylines map exporter to some games, like shooters (Squad, PUBG, Arma) or strategy games (Age of Empires 4, WARNO), so that CS players’ art would be reused in other games. I mean, not just satisfaction by playing CS, but also making a useful map that could be played in other games.

    Hello! I was born and raised in Miami since 1989 and just wanted to say you captured the Everglades beautifully. In case you didn't know, the Everglades are also known as the 'River of Grass' due to the discreet waterways and those tree islands. Also, Lake Okeechobee normally feeds the Everglades but due to engineering, hurricanes, and developments, the waterflow has been reversed to flow north.

    I live close to the everglades, it’s pretty much what you’d expect towards the outskirts of a city. Horse ranches, lots of land, and farms. There’s some attractions at the everglades too. I went on an airboat ride down in Miami and they took us around the place and then we saw an alligator enclosure after we got off. Theres also campgrounds too. I don’t know much more but I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

    As someone who grew up in the south (Louisiana), I agree that the bald cypress tree on Steam workshop is PHENOMENAL and looks incredibly realistic. You should also incorporate wild patches of Southern Live Oak Trees (the workshop has one with Spanish moss!), maybe build an area modeled after Oak Alley Plantation at some point? Awesome map! 😎

    I live right next to the Everglades, I’ve been on airboats through the park plenty of times. I’ve gotta say, you recreated the vibe as best as I can imagine in cities skylines. Only thing you’re missing is the alligators you see every 2-3 minutes out there.

    • @hasoon4306
      @hasoon4306 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another thing, most, if not all of the water in the Everglades is brackish water, a mix or fresh and salt water, this creates a very dark water the further inland you go, not sure if you can recreate this in C:S but thought it’d be a worthy suggestion.

    Eventually when it gets to the point to do detail work (and if someone who has been or lives in Florida hasnt already said this) it be cool to add on the highways and interstates billboard ads and on backroads boat docks for airboat tours. Just something cool to add in once in the detailing phase.

  • @fenrirslip

    For whatever reason, the way you made these swamplands look reminds me a lot of the second half of the Swamp level from Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl along with the various swamp regions in Just Cause 2 and that's a good thing since those are my favorite areas from both games. The general vibe of how this turned out looks absolutely spectacular. Swamplands in general are a very interesting biome to work in.
    Watching this video also makes me want to go back and play Cities Skylines and work on something similar to this!
