Damn, Mike's past so shady it's bringing Grove Street and the Ballas together 😂 Another quality episode. Need to get some Crockett and Tubbs lookalikes mocked up and placed somewhere in the city! I can hear Jan Hammer and Phil Collins already!
Yes! Mr. Two Dollars should also build the "Gold Coast Shipping Building" in I guess Brickell, which now is all skyscrapers but back in the 80s it was towards inland decaying buildings and art-deco warehouses.
Just casually watching and loving the video and then wait, those are my assets 😂 ahh-mazing, thanks for the shout out my guy, too kind! That aside, what a glorious episode, loving the stories you’re bringing in to SC, really adds another layer of interest, so creative! Smashing it at the mo my friend! ❤
I've been watching since you were releasing Bordertown. You've always been a talented, thoughtful creator with great attention to detail. But I just wanted to affirm your development as a storyteller and producer. These videos are so engaging and I feel so much more invested in the cities themselves. Proud of you man. Hope you're having as much fun making these as I am watching them.
I’m from Atlanta, which is home to Coca-Cola! There’s a few things in the city like the Coca-Cola museum and the Coca-Cola sign in downtown Atlanta that may be able to be replicated for Fab Soda.
Here’s an idea for the Fab soda Co- you can make a historical building or museum about how the company came to be. Maybe have the original building that it was bottled in somewhere in a smaller town and it can be like the Coca-Cola museum in Vicksburg, Mississippi or the Birthplace of Barq’s Root beer in Biloxi, Mississippi. They’re both rather humble places but both are a starting point for the two drinks.
I'm not sure what caused it, but recent episodes made Sunset City become an absolute new favorite city of yours, even surpassing Marble Mountain and Oceania with how possibly interconnected the stories and places are. I like how there could be so much happening in just Sunset City itself, showing how it's an interconnected yet very turbulent place. I can't wait for Sunset City's lore to expand. And also, just as Palm'sTime has mentioned, this is pretty much a GTA city, can't wait for the city to be as detailed as the upcoming Vice City!
Also just to add, I also love how Sunset City looks by itself, it's really becoming a fictional Miami-esque city. I do wish to see how the city changes though as you go on like how you originally planned to. Maybe the addition of Light Rail could be a massive surprise to the city? But it would make more sense that they'd stick with their monorail.
Storyline wise, you could have a total all out Mafia around sunset city. Have house as hideouts, have them hanging out near the King Buns building and running from the cops. Your work is so amazing and it's cool to see an Aussie creator. Keep going mate! Edit: The owner of the car in the swamp is hiding in the swamp bushes. Their passenger is hijacking a police car.
You could have Fab Soda own/sponsor a stadium/ballpark (or convention center). I don’t know about Australia, but in the US, those type of venues are usually named after a corporate sponsor.
.. Meanwhile Daniel Valdez graduated from highschool. He was upset with his father, Gabriel, as he wasn't at the ceremony. Daniel worked practically for free, all his teens. He loved working with his dad at the gas station. They talked about cars, and got to see some beauties. Daniel thought that it was his dream job. He looked forward to taking over one of the Valdez chain gas stations, He wanted to manage the one downtown. Gabriel never made it to the grad ceremony, because as he was on the way, he got in a bad wreck. Daniel was crushed. Now with no parents, as the mother died 4 years prior, He had no one. Except, his father kept a will. Turns out, Gabriel Valdez was loaded. He always saved, and the family lived modestly. Everything was now Daniels. Just as there was hope for the young man's future. Turns out he has cut-throat competitor, and the Valdez station, on the outskirts of town, burned down. The detective suspects it was caused by Faul play, but there was no evidence of. Daniel had a sneaking suspicion, he knew who did it. How will the story end? That's entirely in your hands.
Mike always went all in in his job. So when Burger King was coming to town (they ripped off their name) he knew he couldn't stand by and let it happen, and his bosses agreed. So when Mike slipped some money the mobs way (courtesy of King Buns) to show Burger King they weren't "welcome in town" and "flame grilled" their new locations. But when his bosses backed out and didn't give him the money needed for the payments, the mob decided to do the same thing to Mike they did to Burger King...
For the crime scene, it actually would make more sense to have the sheriff's office there (green cars) instead of Sunset City PD, because it's in the country and far from the city.
I think it would be great if the next build is influenced by Coral Gables. Old Spanish houses and a dense urban area make it one of the nicest parts of town
also rebuilding the railroad that used to go down to the keys (the island town) that was destroyed in the 30s by the great hurricane. even today some of the pillars and tracks still lay across the keys next to the main highway
Idea for the Mob! They should have a leader named "Big Joe" and their go-to meeting spot for mob discussions is Big Joe's BBQ somewhere in a run-down neighborhood. Big Joe could be neighbors with Mike on the new fancy island. Maybe the mob and Big Joe own a pork/beef ranch that provides goods for King Buns, further tying the two together in their activities. They could also have further dealings if you add a cargo harbor. Just some thoughts.
Down town in the city you should add some fancy restaurants and stuff like that,bc people with high power might eat there, like the people who burnt the house down
In the swamps in you should add a old destroyed highway or road in general,in my state of kentucky which has many swampy parts there is a old disconnected bridge that’s doesn’t connect that you can see in the woods while driving by
One thing to add to make it extra realistic is having some sort of damaged building spread throughout the city especially in poor areas caused by a past hurricane, every town in south Florida has some remnants of a past hurricane, I live in homestead and we have plenty of damaged buildings left over from hurricane Andrew
Any ideas for your next series? How about a Pacific Northwest style build? Portland has a very interesting layout, being on two large rivers, lots of interesting highways and hills, lots of nature preserves and mountains (stratovolcanoes) along the outskirts… and the coastline… it’s a cool place
As someone who lives in northwest florida, I recommend making a long highway that runs through a forest, and then connecting a northwest florida like city, because in southeast florida, you gotta have the turnpike
They turned 'Ralph's Hamburgers' into a King Buns?! This city is changing fast, man. I liked Ralph's....been going there since I was three. 🤪what? It's a very immersive story!
For the intersection at that gas station, you can use Network Multitool to create one big node and eliminate the road between the highways that is giving you trouble. You can use Node Controller to shift one side to make it look as if it is going straight through. Cars won't slow down to a crawl, either, as there aren't two nodes extremely close to each other.
I just want to say that its wonderful that you respected our feedback from the first "story telling" video. Its so refreshing to see this change of pace every once in a while. Keep it up, pineapple hair man!
Sunset city is the best city for me because of the deep lore in it. I hope you make this kind of content for your next city building, the cities skylines with lore are so much more fun to watch than only good-looking build
That little Easter egg you created made me think of Dexter, any chance you could do the little murder shack out in the swamps that Dexter owned? A bit dark but the Miami theme made me think about it heaps, surely there's a few weirdo murders creeping around 80's Sunset city?
Personally, I think that Cadillac is the ditched car of the arson that burned Mike’s house. They probably would’ve driven it far away before jumping out so they could have the least chance of being prosecuted.
Cities Skylines completely destroyed SimCity 2013 it is so satisfying! i love the detail, the scale, and the depth of CS! some of my best city building experiences
It would be awesome having a small train station serving the downtown, built before the city became so big, that serves commuter rail and possibly also leads to the (key) islands
i love the miami court house , lol i used to skip school and sit on the steps when i was having a rough day back in the 90s. subbed because well your amazing wish i had this type of insight.
Love the side plots. I’ve been watching burn notice recently and he’s a spy who helps people for money while searching for who ratted him out, maybe mike talked.
I'm ten days late for this video, but... I think a medium-sized distribution center for all these large companies would be pretty cool. Some truck yards here and there that are connected by some train lines that lead to a port or inland port. It would bring the whole multi-million dollar company idea together just a little bit more. It's just a fun idea
The sunken car could be like a enemy of the mob like an investigator or something and he was “dealt with” throwing all the evidence and the car in the river
I Keep falling asleep at 10:38 I love this man's content but staying up all night at work takes its toll there should be a jump scare on the middle of the video this is my fifth time rewatching
Can you add a stressed out mother traveling the state and leaving destruction and chaos behind but never realizing its her fault as shes always in hurry and escaping the unfolding drama
I think if you ever build some sorts of sports arena, the soda company should be one of the main sponsors. Coca Cola alwats seems to be sponsoring sports events.
I've got an idea for FAB Soda! You could put little FAB Lite stands around the city around prime locations, like by the stadium, the mall, and a central train station, where the company is giving out free samples of their new product, FAB Lite
Maybe Fab Soda could have a massive bottling plant somewhere that has a big historical red brick warehouse alongside the road with a massive, more modren factory sprawling out from that.
You know a crime related DLC would be interesting. Maybe give you the ability to setup bosses that run business you place that can be raided by cops if you don't pay the cops off, could lead to some seedier sides of town and influence crime in various areas. Vehicles, props, signs, graffiti, businesses, people, clothing, etc. Could lead to car chases, and bank robberies, etc. Maybe Batman. They'd likely never do it, but it would be interesting.
Maybe someone could make a custom vending machine asset for the soda company. You could place drink machine props all over the city. In rough neighborhoods they'll have cages around them. In nice neighborhoods you will often see a whole row of machines. The machines tend to cluster around commercial areas and attractions but you can find them all over the place. There was an old Star Wars Episode 1 Pepsi machine in the pool area at the last apartment complex I lived.
If you build an amusement park maybe have fab soda themed ride or stand within it and maybe giant digital advertisement downtown. Coke also has all those little signs on buldings maybe add those or vending machines
have a custom FAB! soda branded concorde jet when you add airports! that works perfectly for the 80s when pepsi did the exact same thing. you can also have them sponsor a concert area.
When out in the swamp lands you should add maybe a little building for where idk the mafia or cartels meet up and do there meetings and stuff, like a safe house for them

It would be cool if there was something like a murder scene and the killer is spying on the police at the scene kinda like those gta guys you did. Ooh or maybe a street is closed off due to a movie set
I've noticed cities skylines lacks car dealerships, you could add one to the shady area and tie it into the mob storyline.
Two competing shady car dealerships. Like an American car dealership (Ford or Chevy maybe) and a Japanese car dealership (Suzuki). Then it can mimic like an American mob and Japanese mob.
It can be a laundering scheme
Thats a great Idea ngl

Crockett and Tubbs actually run around the city in their sexy testarossa! You can maaybe catch them if you look carefully ;)
