Nice video Ian, thanks for sharing. Brings back memories of my time there with British Forces (BAOR).

Another fabulous episode on your peregrinations across the world...and right on the doorstep of the UK compared to Mauritania! The balmy hot days of Nouakchott and Tafraout seem like a distant memory...and yet mainland Europe has so much to offer.

The Mosel region is very beautifull to ride . I have been there many times as dutch biker . Have a nice holiday in Germany , where the the food and beers and wines are good .

Nice one Ian, nothing better than having the time to follow the river. That closed campsite looked a bit familiar, I think I may have stopped there a few years ago when following the Rhine northward. Take care and looking forward to more episodes.

Very nice! I hope to ride a bike through those areas one day before I get too old to ride. As for sleeping in a tent, you could try an ultralight camp cot. They are solid enough and will keep you off the ground. You just need a closed cell foam pad for insulation even on a cold night. The best nights sleep is on a cot. No more aches and pains when you wake up. Happy travels.

I’m lying on one right now watching this video. I wouldn’t go back to anything else. They’re not only comfortable and keep you off the ground but they even compensate if the tent floor isn’t perfectly flat. It packs up smaller than the inflatable mattress I used to use.

Great video 👍👍 What a beautiful part of the world that is, I’ve only ever been to Germany once on motorcycle but unfortunately I bypassed all this lovely area to push on north to get the ferry back to Hull, it’s certainly on my must do list now. Keep up the great work, well appreciated here 👍.

As you will have discovered Burg Eltz is not anywhere near a town. 🙂 I always think,of it as a small castle but it’s one of my favourite anywhere. At this moment I’m camping opposite another beautiful castle, Belcastel in south central France. I’m in my tent lying on a modern camp bed, so much more comfortable than any air bed and it is light and packs up small.

It was (of course) the Romans who brought the vines to Germany.

If you want a decent blow up bed , go for a EXPED MEGGER MAT. there isn't anything better.
