Reviewing Atlantic Firearms's "Asian Contract" Childers AK47 Rifle (Brought To You By Kim Il Sung)

  • In the previous video we talked AR15s, so now lets checkout another AK type rifle from around the same time period.
    This semi-auto Kalashnikov came from Atlantic Firearms, was built under contract for them by Childers, using many 'well used' surplus parts originally made in the 1970s in the far East of Asia.
    So how does the rifle I received look? Do numbers match? And did Childers do a good job for their part of the project?
    Most importantly; does this AK build get a sling or not?

    For my Bday in 2019 a friend of mine gave me a polish AKM kit. I bought a childers lower with custom serial number to match the kit. Took it to Two Rivers Arms to build it out for me.
    I was out on my motorcycle at lunch when they called saying my gun was done. Since there was a sling in the kit, i sling my brand new sexy AKM on my back and rode my motorcycle home on 3 highways to my house. Open carry is legal here. Got a few odd looks. At 1 point had a cop behind me with the AK clear as day on my back. Didnt get stopped.

  • @GOOBER_MODZ
    @GOOBER_MODZ ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a few of these kits, there seems to be only 2 small variations that I can see within my sample. They are the serial number on the guide rod (it can be stamped or etched), and the lower hand guard may or may not have the drilled hole through the bottom.
    From my kits, the earlier serial number 41xxx will have the stamped serial number on the recoil spring guide like you would see on a Russian, and the lower hand guard does not have the drilled hole. Serial number kits 51xxx, 61xxx & 81xxx have etched numbers on the guide rod and the hole is drilled in the lower hand guard. Just thought that was interesting differences. From what I’ve researched, this is the same for most kits people have.
    The consensus from the peanut gallery of the files, is you have the possibility of having up to 8 matching serial numbers on the kit (Front trunnion, gas tube, sight leaf, guide rod, bolt, bolt carrier, dust cover, and the ejector.) the ejector is kind of a pain since you have to fully dissemble the bolt to see it. All but one of my kits had the last 3 numbers etched on the ejector.
    The rear trunnion being numbered is still up for debate on it truly being a serial number. I have yet to see one come matching the numbers on a kit.
    I personally believe that number is just to reference the group, factory, or some other aspect to track manufacturing batches.

    • @falloutlover5443
      @falloutlover5443 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just got my kit in today, all of my numbers match on the parts that have them, except the rear trunnion. I was also wondering if that was some sort of batch or assembly number rather than a serial.

  • @Hangar-zu8xg
    @Hangar-zu8xg ปีที่แล้ว

    I know you feel that crack in the kit upper handguard. The built rifle one is the one to go with between the two of them.
    The wood looks like it was soaked in mud, and pretty much entirely matches. I see what i think are a few flecks of shiny yellow/orange on the handguards. Kind of reminds me of a mak90 in a way. As if some kind of finish was on these at one point long ago before they got left in the mud.

      I don’t think the price has so much to do with the quality than it does the rarity. Yeah, for $1800 I could have bought an Arsenal or gotten a nicer parts kit built up by a reputable smith. But where else are you going to get a Nork AK or parts? These will eventually dry up and in years time they’ll be worth a lot more than they’re going for now. @@misha5670 I understand where you are coming from. I did enjoy the video and I appreciate the response. This is a unique kit with some differences from what we would normally see. However under folder AKs just aren't for me. They do work and they are adequate for what they were initially made for. Regardless if I ever bought a NK kit like this one, there's still content out there about them for myself and others to enjoy. If they ever do bring in some fixed stock versions though, I just might jump on it. I'm mostly an AR guy, but I do have a few AKs in my collection. These kits would make an excellent addition to any collection. Maybe I'll have one in mine, but for now I've gotten some credit card fees to pay off before I think of doing any more gun buying. H1, H2, or H3? Is there a difference in the forging of the hummers?

    I like atlantic as a company but wish they would sell parts kits instead of building them out themselves. Especially the Russian parts kits they did with crap barrels basically ruining them in my eyes. I would have wanted have the option to pick up the parts kit and have a good Russian ak. With a wbp barrel or end up for a good barrel instead of a nitride barrel on a Russian parts kit then for a outrageous price after they made them super un attractive. With a old Russian akm kit. People would want to have a cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel. Especially as hard as Russian kits are to get

      they used a Polish Cold Hammer Forged Barrel (FB radom military barrel) for the russian guns, and they didnt build them troy sellers did (at least the IZZYs)
