Jonny... This episode and the last one have been just new levels of fabulousness. They've been the pinnacle of story telling, production and nostalgia. The car culture represented in these last two has changed beyond recognition, but the passion is absolutely familiar. So some nostalgic dewy eyed-ness at things past, and some hope for the future of motoring. It's genuinely moved me and I'm sure many others. CMTMB
Last year I had the great pleasure of being driven around Croft Circuit in an BMW M2 for many laps. What a gentleman Tiff is, what a driver, he absolutely thrashed that car around the track yet always in complete control even when the back end drifting out. Great video, well done for setting it up and we'll done Tiff.
I thought Johnny was taking the piss saying Tiff was in his 70s, he’s bloody 72 years old. What a guy Tiff is, great seeing him back in an RS. Well done Johnny for sorting this.
no daft music, no over the top editing. just tiff going round a track that he knows like the back of his hand, seeing every move he does with the VHS filter on it like the original race. what a video. perfect.
Watching and listening to Tiff drive that car instantly catapulted me back to a kid in the 90s Sitting with my dad watching touring car.. Amazing content!
Tiff in the Sierra Cosworth is what ignited my love of SIerra's when I was 8 years old. I begged my dad to buy one , he did and loved it so much he owed about 10 over years from mk1's mk2's and Saphs so this video means so much to me. Thanks a lot Jonny for making this happen. I feel like going into the garage to sit in my MK1 and think about my late father now
It was a different time, the 60s. I was at that race, in the 60s. Not in the grandstand, we didn’t do such things back then. I was just sitting in a little lawn chair just on the outside kerb of turn 1. That’s how we did it back in the 60s, the chaps and I, we just sat there watching the cars oversteer wildly out of control and we didn’t even flinch. Yes, little Jimmy got a bit unlucky and was decapitated by a rear wing once or twice but he just dusted himself off, sat back down and carried on watching. Different time, the 60s…
Another vote for Tiff in the armchair for an extended chat about his automotive life, please Jonny. I had the pleasure of meeting him once- extremely briefly- several years ago and he was such an unassuming charismatic presence you just felt immediately at ease in his presence. Lovely bloke.
Tiff Needell and Chris Harris still remain as the best in the business when it comes to car reviews IMO. Unlike the vast majority, they have legit racing chops, especially Tiff. They talk about the cars from a perspective others can't! Thank you for making this video happen!
You need to get Tiff on the chairs for an Idol Chat, he's going to have so many stories to tell! I'm not a Ford fan but do know how special the RS500 race cars were so to see one be driven in anger is a delight. Kudos to the owner for letting go out and be properly driven by a 70+ year old. It was built to be driven hard, not kept in a museum.
True story...I met Tiff in Universal Studios in Florida 30 years ago? He was an absolute gentleman. He asked what I drove.....omg.....at that time I ran a BMW e30 M3? Evo2 # 249/501.....I then couldn't get away from him. Such a lovely man. 😊 7:02
Tiffs commentary - how he has the brain space to do that while driving like that is amazing! The storytelling from the seat - absolutely beautiful!! What a man. What an influence of anyone who grew up between “89-24”… I can’t do the math over the millennium either, Tiff!
I suspect the owner is thrilled! Not only have they collected and preserved the car driven by Tim Harvey, but now they have this video showing Tiff driving the car too! It really adds to the story attached to the car!
I don`t usually comment on the videos but I`ve met Tiff on a handfull of occasions and he is one of the nicest blokes in motorsport. A boring story is when Labatts came to the UK before sponsoring the touring cars they drove through my village of Henley in Arden and saw the Ford sign so stopped and ordered some Sierra`s which we used to service for them. At Christmas they delivered some boxes and several cases of beer. In the boxes were jackets, Tshirts etc all for us at the garage to say thank you. I later went onto mechanic for a local race team and some of our meetings were with the touring cars as support races. Tiff always said hello and I remember asking Andy Rouse if I could sit on his table to eat as there was no room. Tin top drivers are so different to single seaters. Watching this and listening to him relive those moments brought an actual tear to my eye. So many happy memories of that era. Thanks Jonny you`ve made my year.
Tiff is a legend, I'd have no idea he was in his 70s! He looks great, drives incredibly and probably presents better than ever! His passion and energy has always been infectious, it's so nice to see you both on screen together again.
Tiff, ahh such a legend and what you get on camera is exactly what you get off camera. His enthusiasm has never dwindled as many who've traversed Thruxton side ways with him will attest to, whilst he single handedly keeps tyre suppliers in business.
Love the editing on this - excellent! Nice to see Brands Hatch as it used to be. I was a pitlane marshal there for several BTCC weekends and met Tiff a lot, especially when he drove the Nissan Primera. I especially remember Andy Rouse in his RS500 and how tiring it was driving these cars. Oh, and I beat Jan Lammers and Ricard Rydell in a straight race in golf carts, through the tunnel to the paddock, cheered on by David Leslie and his wife. Happy days!
Uncle Drift, what a bloke. As much as my uncle fueled my love of cars, there is a small part of me that wishes he was a peddler too like Tiff. Brilliant episode Jonny, as always.
Huge thank you to everyone associated with bringing this fab episode to us. Tiff in his 70s - never, that's a misprint. I know for sure that he has just turned a young 50! Such a gentleman, such a real treat to hear and see him again. More please!!
Tiff Needell - A man living out the ultimate dream life, the enthusiasm, the passion, the joy and connection to everything between the gloves and the track! You might be one of my idols for this! 👌
Watch his Top Gear Supercar program where he drives all of the contemporary (80s and 90s) supercars and gives his honest opinion about them - textbook stuff. His review of the Jaguar 220 is one of my all time favorites.

It's impossible to not like Tiff, great driver and presenter, has a good sense of humour and doesn't take himself too seriously. You wouldn't think he was in his 70's
Oh man this takes me back. An era when I used to drive from time to time for a car dealer I drove a few Cozzies and they were epic. I didn't get paid but I got to drive cars that I could never afford. I think I may have even seen this race. Wow I feel old. Tiff looked like a kid with two jellies and he's lost none of that enthusiasm. Many thanks for sharing.
Wow. This video was a pure joy to watch! I remember that original Top Gear episode and to see Tiff drive the sister car to the one he race in all these years later was super. He’s got something so special and it was lovely to see your banter. Well done on this video. Definitely one of your best and I would recommend anyone to watch this. ❤
Incredible video! You can see Tiff's excitement and emotion at this reunion, and even better is that he has the driving and presenting skill to really convey how meaningful this is. Thanks for putting this together!
Ruddy brilliant as usual. I think the only thing that could possibly top this would be Tiff hammering a Silkolene 6R4 around the Brands Rallycross circuit.
Of all the fast drivers on all the car episodes ever produced on TV . Tiff always make me smile with his enthusiasm and happy disposition and of course his immense driving skills second to none. Great to see he hasn’t changed.
Tiff Needell and the Sierra Cosworth reunited, takes me right back... it's impossible not to smile. 🤩I watched that episode of TG many times, so many years ago. From the editing, to the banter and, of course, the onboard footage. 👌That was an amazing episode, thank you! 🙏
Tiff has always been my favorite presenter. He's a true racing driver and you can hear and feel that through his presenting, even in standard road cars.
When you see that helmet (No I'm not talking about Jonny...) you know its going to be good. The original king of TV drift, how much of the modern car media world was pioneered by Tiff! 💪🏼
Jonny, I became a fan from your days with 5th Gear and Tiff and Vicki and Jason - now watching this and Tiff and you two talking like it was yesterday and seeing Tiff getting stirred up during his lap. Amazing. I've been kinda secretly hoping you would find a reason to reunite with Tiff and do something together and I check in on Sunday to see what you're up to and THIS? I got a tear in my eye for a moment. Love the LBS, Love the Barn Finds and Car Caves - THANK YOU! If you get Jeremy and Tiff back together..........well, looking forward to your next adventure!
Fantastic to see Tiff out doing what Tiff does best.....Entertaining everyone with his sharp wit and superb driving skills. Tiff, you are and always will be a total legend in the motoring world. Thank you Jonny for bring Tiff out of retirement to give us all much needed trip down memory lane.
A legendary car and a legendary driver! How on earth is Tiff in his 70s?!? How on earth is the Sierra Cosworth nearly 40 years old?!? Thanks for making ME feel old Jonny!!! Fantastic video as always. TLBS continues to be one of the best channels on TH-cam 🙂
Great video, it was by watching that episode of the Cosworth review by Tiff all those years ago that made me promise myself I would get a Cossie. Although I never owned a 3 door, I had the pleasure of owning a Sapphire Cosworth, followed a few years later by an Escort Cosworth Lux model !
This video put a very big smile on my face. Thanks for the awesome content Jonny! Loved seeing Tiff completely in his element. Wouldn't mind another appearance in the future. LOVE IT! 😁
I didn't know Tiff was now 72 years old. How time flies. My dads 71 and no way is he able to drive a car anymore. Struggles to walk a long distance these days. He is Tiff looking in good health. Well done 👍.
Being a foreigner i first see Fifth Gear and Top Gear in early 2000 i was enjoying so much watching the show's and i can't forget the "fight" between Tiff Needell and Jason Plato being on Tiff side all the time... What great times
I get emotional watching Tiff get emotional! Watching Tiff get re-united with a bit of memorable history makes one hell of a genuine watch. Well done Jonny. Be nice to see more of Tiff or even an interview.
Top ' Woolarding' on the Thumbnail!!! proper Old skool top gear. God that takes me back to being a kid and watching the epic Group A Btcc Races on Granstand with the legend that was Murray Walker commentating. Gonna have to go watch the 89 Birmingham superprix support race now. THat race was just none stop action. Thank you for Jonny , Tiff and everyone else who made this happen!!!!
Tiff (in the original top gear💪🏼) got me interested in driving… don’t get me wrong, I love to look at anything with wheels.. but to watch a calm, distinguished gentleman not only tame… but enjoy and make it entertaining… mr needell is my all time hero.. i think Jonny is living out my mid life crisis …. I’m now after my dad’s old car. Anyone with a hunter for sale????? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Excellent content, young Mr Smith, Thank You. Utter respect to Tiff, a PROPER Top Gear presenter. Bizarrely, my "Take Away" from the video is the huge rear overhang behind the rear axle on the Sierra. I guess I'm enjoying the shorter rear overhang on modern EVs more, these days. And as you said, a big thank you to the companies that enabled you to provide us humble folks with some great entertainment!
Can’t believe Tiff in his 70’s and still the same guy I remember watching in the 90’s, what a star. Only disappointing part was the lack of woollarding so teasingly presented in the thumbnail for the vid. Loved it though and who better to show off the mighty Cossie.
Tiff Needell is a vibrant 70s man! We should all have that exuberance for life and it's intoxicating to say the least. Great job ,Jonny, for showing us a fantastic racing machine and the car he drove.
Good to see Tiff back on a screen and in good form. You pair need to do some more stuff - grab Plato if he’s about as well. That was bloody brilliant. Proper Smile-On-Face brilliant.
I've got to say Jonny, this was fantastic, getting the king of TV drifting back in the Cossie was a highlight of the weekend, it brought back so many memories. And filming was spot on, a massive pat on the back for Phil
This gave me goosebumps the moment Tiff switched into presenter mode behind the wheel. Mega! I grew up watching Touring Cars on TV with my dad, I used to get the Season Review VHS every year and would watch them over and over and over again, I remember the '89 race at Donington!
Such nostalgia. Absolutely superb video. As an aside, Jonny, I don't think any of your subscribers would be upset if you did more content with the Legend that is Tiff, or indeed any of your other, previous co-presenters.

Agreed. I was shocked. We all love Tiff ❤️
Same here, i still had the tiff needell of Fifth Gear in my mind lol. 72 or not, he's still not affraid to send it!
He's looking bloody good for 72, I'd never have guessed.
Man you said it. The maths makes sense but there is no way I’d realise when I see him driving. Have to love tiff ❤
Watching “old man” Tiff instantly transform into racing driver Tiff and motor journo Tiff simultaneously as soon he got in the car was amazing.
I miss the days of Tiff terrifying everyone during the Fifth Gear team tests, it's great to see he's still as bonkers as ever.
And giving the insurance company a heart attack 😂
Watching Plato bury his foot in the passenger seat footwell next to Tiff was always a good crack up.

This is what passion is. Both of you were beaming and you can tell it's genuine. It's why i love this channel.

This was the best thing I've seen in years
Brilliant. Simply brilliant. Thank you Jonny, and thank you Tiff!
Can’t believe Tiff in his 70’s and still the same guy I remember watching in the 90’s, what a star. Only disappointing part was the lack of woollarding so teasingly presented in the thumbnail for the vid. Loved it though and who better to show off the mighty Cossie.
Hi Jonny. The rapport between you and Tiff is wonderful to see! I have a lot of time for that man, 72 and still the master. Cheers. Leigh.
The enthusiasm of Tiff is just brilliant. He's a great peddler too. Hard to believe he's in his 70s. Absolute legend.
Flipping heck it's Tiff!
Just fantastic. I used to drive in the support races for the BTCC it was just the best time. Awesome.
Excellent Woolarding
😂
Tiff Needell is a vibrant 70s man! We should all have that exuberance for life and it's intoxicating to say the least. Great job ,Jonny, for showing us a fantastic racing machine and the car he drove.
Good to see Tiff back on a screen and in good form. You pair need to do some more stuff - grab Plato if he’s about as well.
That was bloody brilliant.
Proper Smile-On-Face brilliant.
Tiff is on TH-cam, he still reviews cars and has a podcast channel
Met Tiff at Thruxton when doing a track day what a gentleman 👍👍
'We're going to roll...'

Thanks Jonny, It is always such a pleasure seeing Tiff. Such a lovely bloke.
Thank you, Johnny. Thank you, Tiff. Absolutely perfect! Is there any chance of an idol chat?
Idol chat with Tiff would be pure gold!
I've got to say Jonny, this was fantastic, getting the king of TV drifting back in the Cossie was a highlight of the weekend, it brought back so many memories. And filming was spot on, a massive pat on the back for Phil
Thank you. Yes, Phil is the one who tied it all together so well with the filming and edit.
That intro was superb with the overlap between new and old car with Tiffs original narration.
Great to be able to put all those elements together. Tiff and the Cossie have both lasted well.
This gave me goosebumps the moment Tiff switched into presenter mode behind the wheel. Mega! I grew up watching Touring Cars on TV with my dad, I used to get the Season Review VHS every year and would watch them over and over and over again, I remember the '89 race at Donington!
Tiff is awesome, great to hear him commentating on his driving again.
Doesn't matter how old Tiff is, he's got more charisma in his little finger than the majority of "influencers"!!
Such nostalgia. Absolutely superb video. As an aside, Jonny, I don't think any of your subscribers would be upset if you did more content with the Legend that is Tiff, or indeed any of your other, previous co-presenters.
