All of the evidence points to an altered reality in my opinion: -When the party is shown the future red xiii says that if they fail against the harbinger then that will be their fate. -aerith while fighting whisper sephiroth says, "we can do it, we can change it. Make it right." She also says earlier before going into the singularity, "we might be changing ourselves" and that there's "boundless terrifying freedom." None of this implies the creation or finding of another timeline, but constantly talks about change of their own future. - the stamp with the terrier is shown after the harbinger is defeated, not before. If it is another timeline then the game is either saying a new timeline is created along side ours at this point, which means double the lifestream in a story where lifestream is limited, or it means the game has just happened to reveal this other timeline now with no foreshadowing whatsoever. Seems unlikely. -Tifa mentions that without stamp they'd be lost while in the tunnels (very subtle clue, seems like throwaway line at the time, will probably add to the "what is fact and what is fiction" question in the rebirth teaser. -sephiroth in the OG explains he wants to "create the future," which in remake could mean eliminating the mechanism that controls the course for the future, which implies event changes that he is aware of, not multiverse that he is unaware of. -destiny's crossroads is what aerith says before going into some cryptic exposition. A crossroad implies you have to choose a direction, not take multiple roads at the same time. My prediction is that rebirth will SEEM as if there are multiple timelines through following zack and what he is learning. For example, we will probably find out all this stuff that happened to Aerith that did not at all happen in our playthrough of remake. The party was shielded from the changes in the singularity though, so Cloud remembers Zack dying and has the buster sword still.
I agree, the point I think your missing is this. What would be the purpose of Zacks survival? The DEvs had said the story will not change, how they get to the ending will be slightly different, but follows the OG. Zack being dead gives us a chance to fight as Zack along with Aerith in the livestream and as our main party within the living world to defeat Seperoith for good. The Devs said this will conclude the FF7 story…
@@andrecaldwell4891 well, I don't discount the idea that Zack could be dead and doesn't know, or he's been placed in some kind of limbo/purgatory. But to answer your question, if Zack is alive they can still hit all the same major themes and points of the OG actually. So, if you presume that reality is altered and Zack is now alive but the party was shielded from the effects in the singularity, then that means Cloud experienced Zack dying, but doesn't remember. So right when he's figuring this stuff out he'll be confronted with Zack alive. This would really mess with his head and be quite similar to the OG in my opinion. All of the pieces are still there: Cloud as an unreliable narrator with a false persona, the party doubting him, sephiroth controlling him, and the plot of meteor, holy, and the reunion. It all still can work just fine. In terms of zack's purpose it would be partly to throw off the player and Cloud in order to add to the feeling of deception that sephiroth brings. It will probably SEEM like he's dead or in another timeline until there's some kind of revelation. The question of why and who is responsible for Zack playing a new role is an interesting ongoing question as well. I like the idea that sephiroth somehow wanted him alive for his plan. I also like the idea of him searching for aerith and following her into the lifestream to help prepare holy, because it would seem he already played through his arc in crisis core and the visual of the two of them in advent children makes it seem like they are operating together in the lifestream. It would make sense if this is what he ends up choosing even if he is alive right now. Overall I'm not worried at all about them adding Zack into the story. I find that there are multiple ways to make it work.
Aerith seems to have at least sensed Zack at the end of FF7R2, we know she is in tune with the lifestream. She probably felt that he was there at some point. Next up, if Zack is dead and just beginning to figure that out, I see it playing out like this: He doesn't find Aerith at the church. All he does find is people that are aggravated and upset. The ones at the church might be trying to leave their purgatory and become one with the planet. Zack realizes he failed and he doesn't know what to do. Here is the cool part: Aerith dies just like in the OG, and Zack meets up with her in the lifestream and you get to play in a party with both of them. Aerith and Zack could be trying to fight sephiroth from the lifestream side, and the rest of the party from the living side. This also opens up the possibility of Zack meeting other dead characters that might be helpful. An alternate idea is that aerith communes with the planet and dead zack creates a breadcrumb trail through the lifestream to guide her actions and thought in the defeating of sephiroth.
Thinking about the Zack being dead theory, it would explain there being 2 Cloud's as well. At this stage of the story the Cloud we see is hollow. He's basically impersonating himself using the Jenova cells to read Tifa's memories. It would stand to reason that the real Cloud is currently in the lifestream with Zack. It would definitely give purpose to the backstory of Jessie's dad being introduced into the game. Maybe that could even be Zack's gameplay mission, to get Cloud unstuck? Perhaps when Aerith does "meet the real Cloud", it just won't be where we expect?
Zack being dead makes the most sense and is more logical. Us exploring the livestream is different and actually we could use Zack to defeat Seperoith within the livestream
When Zack reached Midgar, what he did with the cloud? As Rebirth trailer shows Zack say's "sorry I failed you" is he saying that to the cloud? is cloud dead? In Zack's timeline?
Honestly I feel like the "dead person doesn't realize they're dead" plot is pretty old at this point and that if Zack is dead it could have been set up a lot better. Of course, I'm just a little biased because Zack is my favorite character and I want him to live and have that reunion with Aerith while they're both alive. On the other hand, if Zack is dead he could be there to greet Aerith when she dies and there is potential for there to be some interesting scenes with the two of them getting things done in the Lifestream while Cloud and his party have their adventures in the world of the living. Like you said, there's evidence for all theories and there's narrative possibilities for all of them, but my personal hope is that Zack is alive and the characters do successfully get to fight fate and win and that there was a purpose for all that stuff with the whispers.
I'm so ready for part 2, picked up my switch today, played my old save file from over a year ago. And I was right in front of gongaga, so walked in, fought Reno and Rude(nothing to steal from them) then went to the blown up reactor in gongaga , Heard Tseng and Scarlett talking about trying to to find a Huge materia at the destroyed reactor. Which is cool after playing yuffie DLC. Don't forget the Titan summon you have to click around for. Then walked out to use PHS, to put both Tifa and Aerith in my party. Walked back in to talk to Zacks parents. Tifa and Aerith both walk out once they hear Zacks name. And Clouds memory is sooooooo gone. Lol. I'm 29. And a huge ff7 and ff10 fan. I have to agree with you on the chip bag, it would be pretty cheap if that was only misdirection and not a clue for players. But while listening to you I couldn't help but wonder if Zack has the sword after the singularity then he should also have a "Cloud". What is going to happen to that other Cloud? Nojima and his team of writers have a spare Cloud I wonder if that means they will kill one of them. This "new timeline" direction really complicates everything because the lore needs all new explanations. Like where are the other Turks? Avalanche is intact, so Zirconiade wasn't summoned, so why did they leave this time? The war is only in a ceasefire, does that mean Sephiroth didn't win it definitively for Shinra this time? Hojo laughing at the end of the Weiss fight, does he have control of Weiss already? Why? The thing is we don't know yet how far back Sephiroth could have screwed with everything or why he would change those events, but he must have, something had to have. Maybe Remake is really a Reboot.
its likely much simpler, they somehow meet ZF and the crew or an event happens and the timelines fuse into one, and the 2 buster swords can both exist. The presence of things from other timelines can co exist. We're often taught in time travel movies that it cant happen, but in the FF world it can. We're conditioned to think that it cant.

Stamp's final appearance as a beagle is in Aerith's room at Shinra. The book it titled "Stamp Breeder Book". The next appearance of Stamp is as a different breed of dog. That said, Sephiroth clones are the only known instance in which the sword gets 'cloned' with the person. Ok i would say that- there is 3 shown timelines, og ff7 - because FATE has the information of what happened. Ff7 remake - with the changes like Aerith going out of the alley scared and Cloud being led into an alley by a vision of sephiroth. What the timeline is after the events within the singularity. However, the singularity is a pocket dimension outside of time. The party entered it from timeline 2 and exits it into timeline 3. Thats the only way that any of this timeline bullshit can have any impact on the story of the characters we have followed. But not only that, it keeps the familiar characters as well. In ff7 you don't look back and only move forward, traveling the world so what actually happened up until sephiroths clones kidnapped jenovas body from midgar may be kept a secret for the entire part 2. Or in other words, Zacks events after where he was supposed to die. The party may not know at all that their past is not the past of this timeline and that will be the new plot element twist that "will keep fans excited"
My issue with the "altered timeline" is that if the singularity protected the group and copied the buster sword. It would then follow that there are now two of every character as well. (ie. the cloud that never got the sword.) I find this silly and far to convoluted. I have always been firmly in the "Zack is dead" camp. For many of the reasons you state. Mostly the gut wrenching reveal it promises.
I see a glaring problem with the theory of the party entering an altered timeline after the Singularity event in Yuffie's part of the story. Going on the current theory that Cloud and company have somehow passed into another timeline where Zack survived his last stand, we can safely assume that they no longer share the same timeline as Yuffie. We can confirm that the party originally would have existed in the same timeline with Yuffie when she was seen eavesdropping on Barret and Tifa’s conversation after the Airbuster fight and the loss of Cloud. If they have indeed moved to another timeline after exiting the singularity, how is Yuffie supposed to ever meet up with them? And if she never meets up with the group then her place in the story becomes practically null and void. In short, she did not enter the singularity so she would not have been able to travel with the group to a new or altered timeline.
For starters the theory isn’t that they hopped timelines. It’s that they altered the timeline. Essentially alter the history of the planet for lack of a better term. It’s still their world, just different. Yuffie would still exist.
@@DashingDavid If the our party inside the singularity retain their memories and don't change, do the characters outside of the singularity have their memories of the beagle timeline which we played or do they have memories of something else? Like for example do the Turks remember fighting Cloud and party at the top of the pillar or are their memories altered?
The Ultimania said Aerith didn't know Zack died, so I can't help but wonder if she didn't know because when he came to say goodbye (like Elmyra's husband), Aerith isn't there (at the church)...🥲 Also, I personally think it's possible that the Zack we saw is an illusion Sephiroth played on Aerith to trick her to leave the party (and easier to kill) and we as players saw it too... I mean... Sephiroth has shown us in OG how extensive of his ability is in regards to creating illusion....
What I don't get is why did they show that scene with Aerith at the end of Crisis Core? Her reaction to a lot of people, was the planet (rain) telling her what happened because she was shocked and upset as it zoomed out. To me she knew via Crisis Core, in the OG it's like she had a feeling when you visit Gongaga. I am intrigued to see how Rebirth plays out but also concerned as seeing how much changed in the Remake. They have said that the story will not change drastically in comparison to the OG story but they don't realise that them confirming in an interview a while back that Zack is alive (unless they are lying which they are quite good at) to me is a massive change IF he is in Rebirths' world. They toned down too much on the emotional and dark scenes from the OG that was in Midgar, such as the blood trail, they could have at least left a ton of dead shinra soldiers and employees rather than purple ooze. The plate dropping scene to me was lacking in the emotional value that the OG gave except for Barrets reaction when the dust settled. These are 2 main examples of what I think and what comments I've read on TH-cam vids. What was your view on these 2? As for the 2 Buster swords theory, I'm torn between a different timeline and Zack being dead. I was 99% sure it was he was in a different timeline due to the Stamp packet swooping the screen but after the DLC ending, I'm leaning towards him being dead as if you watch the plate falling scene where debris is falling you see a few people screaming and running but also being hit by it. These same people I saw in the church at the end of the DLC, hence why I think Zack maybe dead. As I always say, if Zack is alive, I welcome it as long as he is alive with great story telling that makes sense and isn't there for just the fan service. Fan service to me is welcome but reasoning needs to be there otherwise they're trying too hard and will end up ruining a great game.
He talked about two universe is being together since I’ve moved to where is the madness because I never seen that movie because it’s Multiverse of madness especially like the Multiverse getting mixed up with other universes I think that’s what the direction of the Final Fantasy seven remake world is based on
Given the time frame between the events, we can Still have just one damn sword.... Zack at the church in October 2nd-4th. Cloud found alone October 4th in sector 7, left behind with the sword.
@@DashingDavid One, Cloud isn't dead so Cloud didn't have to travel alone... However they specifically chose not to change that date, in spite of many other timeline redactions and changes. This is because on October the 2nd, the Turks are given the order to save Zack not knowing he is already dead. Two, October 3rd, Cissinei and Shotgun (or whichever player Turks is chosen) are locked in what becomes a high speed chase from avalanche 's anti soldier ravens in a chase that brings them in front of the church. As it also happens on October 2nd, the leader of avalanche and the leader of the Turks are "executed" publicly by Tseng, after a battle that leads to loss of innocent life. Hence why on the third , the church is full of crying people. Now, Zack will leave his sword behind with Cloud while fighting unless he feels he needs it. As such, left behind. Now high speed chase means vehicles. Get wrapped up on a Shinra truck during a chase, and we'll maybe he won't get back as quickly as he planned. Now cloud is alone with a sword. Given that the chase leads into Midgar it's even possible that Zack brought Cloud with him, but it's made clear that there'd be some sort of danger if they stay together. After all Shinra wants Zack. Cloud, well, he is forgettable. The Turks are coming to save Zack. Also... Remake world preview goes out of its way to point out that someone and the Turks in exile killed Jade Weapon at icicle inn on December 12th 0007. The day of the first reactor bombing. My point being there are so many cases for a single buster sword that it actually isn't even funny to joke about there being two. There is October, September, November and 11 days of December for Cloud to get the sword and bleach his memories of Zack. It's an altered planet memory turning into reality. Not parallel universe, not parallel timelines. I'm aware of the creation and destruction universe parallel but those two universes also existed in the original game and I find it to be more symbolism than two "the planet". After all the red one used to be a reference to where Jenova came from.
I think Zack might be alive but there are multiple buster swords in the world of FF, if you play all the games from og, to cc, to remake, there are multiple designs but also like the stamp chip bag, it could be due to being inside and outside the singularity that the buster swords both exist with different designs in the same world. Buster sword 1 and 2, or ver a. to ver x. so to speak. That's why angeals buster sword had the gold trim compared to clouds having the metal trim with beads. All in all it is a good theory but I wanna believe Zack survived the attack and is alive for we have a similar story but different outcome in remake being that it's a remake/retelling of the original story. We are promised that the events of og 7 will still come to pass in remake but maybe SE is telling that story with more than less detail as OG, making it that it's possible there are multiple universes coming together with the singularity, changing the OG events in some ways but us still coming to defeat sephiroth for good and saving the planet still, just in a different way
Okay, I have a theory, this be indeed a sequel... HOWEVER the Zack we see in Intergrade might be in... well... Advent Children and he was probably in the final fight with Cloud and Cloud died... but that's my theory lol
Broo i did top secrets today for the first time in 215 hours of playtime. Took me 3 hours even following Optinoob's "easy" guide and im still haunted by my sheer lack of skill.
Silly and convoluted is probably points in favor of a theory when Nomura is directing.
@@michaelwebster-clark9865 when he helms KH for sure but this is FF7 and he isn't the only one in charge.
The Ultimania said Aerith didn't know Zack died, so I can't help but wonder if she didn't know because when he came to say goodbye (like Elmyra's husband), Aerith isn't there (at the church)...🥲
Also, I personally think it's possible that the Zack we saw is an illusion Sephiroth played on Aerith to trick her to leave the party (and easier to kill) and we as players saw it too...
Damn McDonald's has some creepy mascots.
You’re not wrong lol
He talked about two universe is being together since I’ve moved to where is the madness because I never seen that movie because it’s Multiverse of madness especially like the Multiverse getting mixed up with other universes I think that’s what the direction of the Final Fantasy seven remake world is based on
There is something bugging me if zack is still alive what happened to cloud who he was protecting at his time of death
I actually did a whole video discussing this
th-cam.com/video/FZiL_KnVAf4/w-d-xo.html
Given the time frame between the events, we can Still have just one damn sword.... Zack at the church in October 2nd-4th. Cloud found alone October 4th in sector 7, left behind with the sword.
Except that’s not how Cloud gets the sword. Nor would Zack just give it to him bc it’s a memento of Angeal. Only gives it to Cloud bc he’s dying.
The other issue with the Zack still being dead. You see him carry Cloud to Midgar at the end of ff7 remake.
That could all be something he thinks is happening. We already know that people can die and not realize they’re dead.
We are promised that the events of og 7 will still come to pass in remake but maybe SE is telling that story with more than less detail as OG, making it that it's possible there are multiple universes coming together with the singularity, changing the OG events in some ways but us still coming to defeat sephiroth for good and saving the planet still, just in a different way
I think it be awesome if the game never ended dlcs and just exploring the world now game has ever done that…
they might yes
Okay, I have a theory, this be indeed a sequel... HOWEVER the Zack we see in Intergrade might be in... well... Advent Children and he was probably in the final fight with Cloud and Cloud died... but that's my theory lol
I just dont want cloud and zack in the same party
Broo i did top secrets today for the first time in 215 hours of playtime. Took me 3 hours even following Optinoob's "easy" guide and im still haunted by my sheer lack of skill. I needed to unwind so I went back to hollow knight and killed a boss who was a wall for me months ago. And then elden ring for ng+ fire giant. And then some rocket league. Yeah im haunted 🤣🤣🤣
Beat it in my first try. Followed a Game8 guide and it helped a lot. Don’t remember all of it but just remember Elemental+Fire in the armor. Makes the Bahamut fight super easy where don’t even have to worry about Ifrit. Also made Pride & Joy a joke lol
@@DashingDavid Thanks for that
I guess i need to just do the fight more. I refuse to go into rebirth this shit
The sheer amount of general ease I see everyone having with this fight while it walled me for 2 years is really starting to sting
This actually says to focus on Ifrit but it’s been awhile since I’ve done the fights. I just know that Elemental+Fire helps for those last two fight. Either way here’s the guide.

My theory is they killed him later then they did so that why we think there two swords to keep us and treat for now
If they killed him at a different point then would he have had the opportunity to give Cloud the Buster Sword?
@@DashingDavid here how I see it the dev want us to think zack made it to aerith church after she left city but what if all of zack stuff we seen happens before that he ran into a church of crying people they could be crying over a love one death or something else and then he walk back to cloud he run into trouble will picking him up there running he get hurt and he realizes that he has to drop cloud off so he leaves the sword with him and try to lead the others away from cloud and is taking out .
@@DashingDavid but good video that is just my head cannon therory I probably wrong but who knows until the game comes out
The forth opinion zack is a clone and he summon the weapon out of no where like seph in advent children
Some of these theories jesus 🤣
Bro WHAT

Tbh I know it’s a different timeline due to genesis not appearing

In the board meeting Hojo did mention Genesis
@@nickburson6079 S and G types? Oooooh shit thats what he meant!
Yep
Well Project G is in reference to Project Gillian. But yeah that’s still alluding to Genesis and Angeal.
