My father had a 1980 Malibu wagon. It was the classic model with the 231 V6. The 231 was a Buick motor. He sold it locally in 1996 with almost 200,000 miles on the clock. It was a very comfortable car to ride in, and had a very smooth ride. The car was also very quiet when it ran. I still see it running around today, and my father wished he never had sold it.
This car brings back childhood memories my grandfather had one and I rode in it in a car seat when I was a baby too. His was the Station Wagon version though.
It is the same for me. I was under 5 years old when my dad brought the car home. I remember thinking that the hubcaps were cool and I really liked the gauge cluster. It is funny what we remember.
My 1st car was an 4dr 82 Malibu front bench seat navy blue leather with suicide windows. Man I miss that car and I don’t never see the 4drs anymore only 2drs

Hello. Very nice car and very original! Nice gold hubcaps and very original too! In my case I ve a 1979 Malibú 4 doors since several years ago and its engine is code L V8 350 with automatic transmission.
These cars have so much more character than the black and grey drabmobile crossovers littered everywhere these days. Its a shame GM didn't spend a bit more money and fuel inject these engines like they did the 4 cylinders like the Iron Duke and fit better rear gearing for better power and response.
@@dueljet Those early 1982-84 A-body Iron Dukes only made 90 horses and were attached to atrocious 2.39 final drive ratios so 0-60 times were even slower. The best years of the 6000 were its last 2 where it was upgraded to a 110 HP Tech IV and better still the 140 HP 3.1 V6. I did drive several 80-82 Malibus years back with the optional 267 V8 and they felt peppier as did the early 6000's with the extra cost Chevy 2.8 V6. Enjoy that beautiful car of yours!
We had 2 74 4 doors now have one in the garage drives and runs great just wont downshift when goibg up hill. Something with the kickdown cable or transmission itself byt my dads thinking about selling it. I wish ti keep if and try getting it fixed
There was a TV cable recall on mine back in the late 80's. It could cause the car to not downshift properly. Mine was fine, but it was replaced anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting!
1983 Chevy Malibu. Was my 1s car. I remember my dad took me to a used car lot in Tucumcari, NM when I was 16 yrs old. I seen the Chevy Malibu and dad bought it for me $995.00.
I didn’t know that was the original spare, that’s what my old malibu is still sitting on holding air with today. Also how is it getting on the highway is it to slow that you will need more space between cars then normal it is it fine?
It gets around ok. It is on the slow side especially when it has 4 passengers and the ac is on. It can get up to 65-70 by the end of the on ramp provided the ramp is pitched down at least a little. Once at speed, it can cruise all day long without issue.
@@Jaylon_1320 I had a 1980 Cutlass with the 4.4 liter. It was quite and smooth. I drove the Cutlass in winter and stored the Malibu. This was back in the 1990's

Cool I also have a 1982 Malibu classic with 4.4 liter (267 cu) v8
