RIP Chris. One year ago I had the chance to hear him live for the first and last time in the Ancient Amphitheatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. After each song, the 10,000 + audience would stand up and applaud for around 30 seconds. Literally, after every song. No one could believe how amazing his performance actually was, I had seen countless of live videos, but on that night he nailed absolutely every single note and he played for 2 hours straight leaving the audience absolutely stunned. It felt like he was in the peak of his abilities. It was surely one of the most powerful music experiences I ever had. I still can't believe he passed today, because I can still imagine how he sounded in that Amphitheatre like it was yesterday.
Daniel Ivanov first time I saw him at Lollapalooza 2 in 1992 with Soundgarden of course , that was amazing when his style / grunge first hit the scene, and introduce the soul too many great talents but I see Chris Cornell as the king
Thanks for talking about that experience. That is a perfect example of how amazing he sounded and, wow...that was after 25 - 30 years of singing too! There just aren't many singers who can sound that good for that long. I'm glad you and the audience gave him the standing ovations, because he obviously deserved that. ✌️✌️👊👊
Pay attention to the distance he is from the mic. What a voice. The feeling, the talent, the execution. Just a man and his guitar, showing us how humanity can be incredible sometimes...
The distance from the microphone varies in the fact of is it a condenser or a dynamic mic. This is a Neumann condenser so he has to be farther away. Cornell is, in my opinion, the greatest vocal in rock when it comes to technique (favorite in sound is Layne Staley).
It's easy to do, friend. I hope all is well with you. Love watching all of these crazy good acoustic performances. His vocal mic technique is fascinating to watch on top of the heart poured into the performances. We are all fortunate to be in this timeline to experience this.
My wife passed away 4 years ago. I have listened to this song every day since she took to the afterlife without me. I will wait for you my Wild Irish Rose until I see you again. I wait like a stone... for you. Alone.
Sorry for your loss, if I may extend a song to you that has helped me greatly with a similar loss. "In the Woods Somewhere" by the Irish singer Hozier. The human connection with love and death is so complex

I always loved that song but this particular performance of it could bring me to tears... Anyone who has loved and lost can feel the pain and sorrow in his voice... as a Musician and Vocalist, Chris Cornell is True Greatness
I am late coming to his music, 66 and raising children but discovered him 2 years ago. He has a magnificent voice, such soulful eyes they stare through you. So sad to lose him.
I saw Chris just a few months before he passed, on his Higher Truth tour. Rip Chris, your voice and soul were that of an angel and thank you for letting us hear it.
When I’m alone and in my feels and sad, Chris Cornell is the only one who gives me peace, contentment and hope. I will miss you forever my brother, gone too soon :(
That's not fair 😅 are you suggesting that everyone should be held to the same standard as Chris Cornell? I think that would discourage most musicians, even pros.
This song just hits my soul at times it makes me cry. His voice is absolutely phenomenal and I'm in awe with him. RIP 🙏 thank you for blessing us with your presence and voice.
People often speak of Cornell's vocal abilities and rightly so. However, this sometimes overshadows his immense, endless talent of individual expression -specifically lyrically. This song is truly an artful, an art form in & of itself!
Noticing the microphone they have him singing into. If I'm not mistaken, that's a U87, probably the best mic on the planet to capture his rich vocals. Glad someone thought to use one.
neumanns are the industry standard in the professional world. I used to work in a studio and that's all we used for our artists. captures so much detail. super expensive tho. i was always scared to prep it lol didn't want to drop it.
@@RandyH524 Same here. They offered some insurance, in case something expensive breaks by your fault. I remember that i gladly paid and felt a great relief.
In my opinion the best recorded version of this song Chris had a gift of true beauty with his voice that will never be matched It still doesn’t feel real that he’s not with us anymore
Always loved this song and today was the first day I read all the lyrics. But I never felt I needed to. You could just feel the song, the raw emotion behind it. To be honest, I don't think I've ever "felt" a song quite like this one before.
I first heard Audioslave when i was a kid playing "Flat out 2". I didn't know english then, but i still loved the songs. Chris is still my favorite artist
Chris Cornell is an underrated member of this movement and there are several reasons for this, among them: He was the pathfinder of Grunge SOUNDGARDEN was the first band to have a signature and to sort of authenticate this term grunge that didn't even exist before. He formed TEMPLE OF THE DOG which was a tribute to Andy (another underrated grunge band due to his early death) and with Eddie Vedder, which after this band, allowed the formation of Pearl Jam. And perhaps the most underrated reason of all is that Nirvana put grunge on the rise from SEATLLE but there were bands with better and much richer content than them. Cornell was more poetic than the Beatles, heavier than Black Sabbah and with a vocal timbre compared to Freddie Mercury. He was a musician with a combination of excellent vocal, melodic and artistic quality. NO ONS SINGS LIKE YOU ANYMORE.
Being mostly on my own, Chris was with me through some of my darkest moments on this Earth. Would have been so much harder without him. R.I.P. Chris, and thank you for being there for me.
I see this performance and I just wanna go back in time, hug him and say: "Everything is going to be good. I feel your pain and I'm sure there are a million people like me." I know that's selfish and stupid but I hope that Chris is somewhere out there hearing that. We miss you. The world is a bit worse without you.
This was probably one of my favorite rock songs to sing when I was younger. All of his music quickly became my dailies. His voice is like no other, he was incredibly talented. To hear the emotions with every word. I can’t help but cry and cry now that I’m older and actually can hear the lyrics.
That's my question too. Did you? I got to see Chris with Soundgarden way back when we were all young. In Tampa,Fl. at the Sun Dome. They opened for Guns N' Roses and I only wish now that I'd of gotten to see him while he was touring his solo/acoustic stuff. I liked Soundgarden, and I liked some of Audioslave's music, but I absolutely love all of Chris Cornell's. What an absolutely amazingly, talented human being that will be forever missed by a very large group of other human's that could only dream of being as blessed as that man's family & friends to have been apart of his life, little lone breathe the same air as him. Beautiful inside and out! A truly, unbelievably, talented, unmatched in soooo many ways, from his pure and open heart to the deepest, darkest, and dearest depths of his soul, beautiful man. rips Chris, we still miss you, we will never forget you. Ever! One of his biggest fans since 1990. Guns N' Roses should of been opening for Soundgarden/Chris Cornell. Absolute best vocal/lyrasys to Grace this Earth. The voice of an Angel with a heart of a lion!
Always come back to Chris Cornell songs when I enjoy loneliness... doesn't matter any day, week, month, year whatsoever.....His voice soothes my mind , touching somewhere inside soul with the unleashed feelings...and the unplugged version of song is always an icing on the cake :) Love and respect to my favorite rock singer. #always live on hearts #rip
Chris was awsome in all those bands and in solo. Both bands were 2 of my favourites bands of all time. They had great names (and it's rare) with significant and simple meaning (thanks to Chris) and amazing songs that sounded like no one else. I would love your input on the first video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of BÖC) but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. God I miss this dude putting music out into the world. He died on my first day of sobriety and I remember listening to his songs over and over as I was writhing and sick in my house. It makes these songs hit me so much harder thinking about it.
I’ve watched this countless times and don’t recall if I ever commented. I am now because I’m still in awe every damn time I watch it. I’m speechless it’s so good. It’s my favorite version of this song. It tears right down to your soul. I’m blown away how one man with a micr and guitar , all alone, can make music and sing a song that sounds like this!? Absolutely incredibly talented! This is flawless in every way. Beautiful performance from one beautiful man
I hope nobody ever does. I truely don't think it's possible. He was one of a kind...the reason why he's a legend. I still feel a hole in my gut every time I see or hear his music. The Man's music is his soul. I'm extremely grateful that his music will always be in mine. I can't even imagine how many hearts and souls of others that he has touched and will forever remain within. I say "I know you're at peace wherever you are. You may be gone from this life, but wherever your soul may be... I'm sure your talent and love for music is still inside". An old soul always comes back....only better.
This to me is by far his best version of this song, the tempo, the stripped back acoustic and his phenomenal voice with so much depth and feeling absolutely love it

Thanks for talking about that experience. That is a perfect example of how amazing he sounded and, wow...that was after 25 - 30 years of singing too! There just aren't many singers who can sound that good for that long. I'm glad you and the audience gave him the standing ovations, because he obviously deserved that. ✌️✌️👊👊
Holy shit, this dude is a legend
Fuckin believe it .
Fun fact: He raised the key of the song by a whole step. He sung so good that he could do that and still sound amazing.
Probably the best perfomance i've seen in my life
Pay attention to the distance he is from the mic. What a voice. The feeling, the talent, the execution. Just a man and his guitar, showing us how humanity can be incredible sometimes...
That's a condenser mic, not a dynamic one so ideal distance is a bit less than a foot away.
But yeah, powerful voice!!!
The distance from the microphone varies in the fact of is it a condenser or a dynamic mic. This is a Neumann condenser so he has to be farther away.
Cornell is, in my opinion, the greatest vocal in rock when it comes to technique (favorite in sound is Layne Staley).
Only Chris Cornell will sing his songs two keys above the original pitch.
and still do it flawlessly
I’m glad to find people even 6 days ago still mesmerized with Chris like I am.
They called Steve Perry "the voice" they also called Chris that, i like Chris more
I been tryna match his vocal on this it's very challenging for me anyways
Your a fucking idiot for even bringing it up,
Almost 6 years gone and I still cry when I hear this version. RIP brother.
It's easy to do, friend. I hope all is well with you. Love watching all of these crazy good acoustic performances. His vocal mic technique is fascinating to watch on top of the heart poured into the performances. We are all fortunate to be in this timeline to experience this.
Damn, he was so good. He is so comfortable with his voice. A real professional, a real talent, a real tragedy. So sad that he is gone.
this guy is fucking unbelievable, gives me the chills every time I hear this song.
I forgot how good was Chris. This performance is just unbelievable.
Listening to this on the 5th anniversary of his passing, you are so missed sweet Chris
Truly, no one sings like you anymore 🤍💔🕊
nothing compares to this mans voice ♡
[Verse 1]
On a cobweb afternoon in a room full of emp&tiness
By a freeway, I confess I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death, reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good, we'll lay to rest anywhere we want to go
[Chorus]
In your house, I long to be
Room by room, patiently
I'll wait for you there, like a stone
I'll wait for you there, alone
[Verse 2]
And on my deathbed, I will pray to the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone who will take me to heaven
To a place I recall, I was there so long ago
The sky was bruised, the wine was bled, and there you led me on
[Chorus]
In your house, I long to be
Room by room, patiently
I'll wait for you there, like a stone
I'll wait for you there, alone, alone
[Bridge]
And on I read, until the day was gone
And I sat in regret of all the things I've done
For all that I've blessed, and all that I've wronged
In dreams until my death, I will wander on
[Chorus]
In your house, I long to be
Room by room, patiently
I'll wait for you there, like a stone
I'll wait for you there, alone, alone

Amazing lyrics....,
Nobody makes you feel their lyrics more than Chris and Layne RIP legends
Amen brother
Yes Amen indeed 🙏🏼
I always loved that song but this particular performance of it could bring me to tears... Anyone who has loved and lost can feel the pain and sorrow in his voice... as a Musician and Vocalist, Chris Cornell is True Greatness
This comment has new meaning today
Jimmy J looking back now, it was a prophetic comment.
Danny Reneau it sure does... I'm at a loss for words...
happyjolly77able I feel like this Song, Fell On Black Days and Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart define his passing now.
Jimmy J Very sad :/
Singing, crying my eyes out and missing so many friends here on New Year's Eve 2022. ❤️ To everyone who is having a hard time too
Amen.
How are you?
I am late coming to his music, 66 and raising children but discovered him 2 years ago. He has a magnificent voice, such soulful eyes they stare through you. So sad to lose him.
Hello Maureen, How are you doing?
The people that dislike this song should be ashamed, the man could sing the paint off a battle ship! We miss you Chris!
Forreal
Like a king he delivered his absolute performance of this song
Like a king he left
Hope you found your peace brother
like a king he left wtf your comment is contradicting
I saw Chris just a few months before he passed, on his Higher Truth tour. Rip Chris, your voice and soul were that of an angel and thank you for letting us hear it.
When I’m alone and in my feels and sad, Chris Cornell is the only one who gives me peace, contentment and hope. I will miss you forever my brother, gone too soon :(
During these moments, Chris was the most talented person alive.
He still is to this day
With Chester Bennington, miss both of them
That's how you should sound live.
I'm fairly certain he could have sang the entries of the phone book and made his audience cry.
@@evamoor2377 I would've listened to that.
@@evamoor2377 LMAO facts when you have a voice like this you can read a book and make a song out of it
That's not fair 😅 are you suggesting that everyone should be held to the same standard as Chris Cornell? I think that would discourage most musicians, even pros.
No one can
His voice is so haunting. It lingers in the soul long after. Love it. RIP
This song just hits my soul at times it makes me cry. His voice is absolutely phenomenal and I'm in awe with him. RIP 🙏 thank you for blessing us with your presence and voice.
one the greatest songs ever written
@@mikeseaquest9246 Yes I agree
Totally agree with you. This song is a masterpiece and Chris Cornell is the best I've ever heard
Such a gorgeous voice.....
@@patticakesintexas I feel less of a man hearing it, or rather when I try to sing his songs myself lol
Pure beauty
He probably did
@@RandyH524 Same here. They offered some insurance, in case something expensive breaks by your fault. I remember that i gladly paid and felt a great relief.
Talents like Chris pay the price for what music is supposed to sound like. Raw. Real. Righteous.
In my opinion the best recorded version of this song
Chris had a gift of true beauty with his voice that will never be matched
It still doesn’t feel real that he’s not with us anymore
This was peak Chris Cornell and it's f'ing amazing. I hope I get to hear him again in the next one. 🙏
I still can't believe you're gone forever....
hes not dead forever.. john5: 28 , 29 he will rise in the great resurrection and live on earth, once again to live with his family
filuferru never gone forever. Will always be with us forever.
This could be in another language and you’d still feel this song.
kenny holdren absolutely!
Always loved this song and today was the first day I read all the lyrics. But I never felt I needed to. You could just feel the song, the raw emotion behind it. To be honest, I don't think I've ever "felt" a song quite like this one before.
Not everyone who listens to chris understands english.. Im pretty sure most ppl dont, actually.
another song that has a similar effect, being in another language is Vor I Vaglaskogi by Kaleo.
I first heard Audioslave when i was a kid playing "Flat out 2". I didn't know english then, but i still loved the songs. Chris is still my favorite artist
I use this song to put my 3 year old daughter down for a nap, it works every damn time! 🙌🏼 Chris’ voice is beautiful man….
Been using it for 4 years now with my 2 girls. Chris Cornell and Aaron Lewis acoustic = bedtime!
@@MikeBlank216 yes 2 great choices
No bells and whistles, just talent in it's most purest form. Wish you were still here.
One of the greatest voices in rock'n roll history. Chris, you will be missed. RIP
Myhra RIP Chris, love you 🌹😢😘😘
Agreed but why
"And I sat in regret of all the things I'd done / for all that I've blessed and all that I've wrong..."
kills me. every time.
Same here man
Forgiving yourself.........
The hardest part of life😓
When you're so fed up and sick of yourself that you regret everything about your existence. Not just the bad you've done, but any good too, all of it.
Pumpkin Hill Yes! It’s bone chilling.
Absolutely!! 💔
¡Cierto!
Saludos
Can't forget Alice in Chains
No one's sung like him ever
Id check your facts one the first grunge thing
The loss of Chris Cornell still breaks my heart. 😭
"This song is called like a stone
I'm Chris Cornell
And it goes like this"
Yes, we saw the video.
@@1ZosoLZ no, he's got a point
You don't drop pure perfection after saying that so nonchalantly haha
@@laurel5432 he knew he was great
This man is the reason I use the "vocal" setting on my speakers.
Being mostly on my own, Chris was with me through some of my darkest moments on this Earth. Would have been so much harder without him.
R.I.P. Chris, and thank you for being there for me.
Good of you to never forget...
But who could?
I hear that.
I see this performance and I just wanna go back in time, hug him and say: "Everything is going to be good. I feel your pain and I'm sure there are a million people like me." I know that's selfish and stupid but I hope that Chris is somewhere out there hearing that. We miss you. The world is a bit worse without you.
I fell genuinely sorry for the future generations who never got to witness this pure unparalleled talent RIP Chris Cornell
This was probably one of my favorite rock songs to sing when I was younger. All of his music quickly became my dailies. His voice is like no other, he was incredibly talented. To hear the emotions with every word. I can’t help but cry and cry now that I’m older and actually can hear the lyrics.
Hello beautiful Angel ❤️❤️❤️❤️
How are you doing today 💖💖💖💖
Chris Cornell is the real deal right here.... you can tell he's singing in a way that no human being can even compare to...rest in peace Chris ❤️🙏

Exactly......perfection. He is coming to Dallas solo this Summer. I gotta try and make it.
WarrenBarca indeed
James DeLavan did you make it?
The voice of an Angel with a heart of a lion!
this may be the most beautiful song i’ve ever heard
One of the most heartwrenching songs and performances mankind ever witnessed.
I still cry whenever I hear Chris sing. His passing still hurts.
If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me : th-cam.com/video/Pu_p1wbaCa8/w-d-xo.html

Stay safe and keep rockin' !
Beautiful performance from one beautiful man
Great phrasing, I wish I could sing like this, genius.
Romulo Ferreira amazing phrasing so sad we'll never hear anymore new music from him.
Very well said I cannot think of any words to contribute. I’m just sad still and grateful when hearing his voice....
Patrick Williams I feel you!
This song and this exact version it’s just too perfect for this lockdown
cheer up homes
Ya because because uh lock down......derp
What a once in a lifetime talent he was. "No one sings like you anymore"
This to me is by far his best version of this song, the tempo, the stripped back acoustic and his phenomenal voice with so much depth and feeling absolutely love it
This guy is ridiculously good. What a voice.
I call him Jedi...

Best Version EVER, Chris Cornell Was So Talented And Is Dearly Missed!!!! He Said Himself "No One Sings Like You Anymore"
Chris was an angel & his voice makes me want to cry, it's so powerful & mourning
