  • The Bay House is slowly coming together. This time of year is always the slowest due to the weather and the holidays. With winters arrival the inside of the house is now the primary focus. More updates to come, Thanks for Watching!

    I own a construction/remodel company in Indiana and am considering a small bandsaw mill. I can get the wood inexpensively and make my own lumber that way. These prices are ridiculous. The house is looking good, stay warm and hope you all have a great finish to 2022.

    Looks like a good spot for the Canoe. You should light it up with a rope light or some LED lights on the bottom and use it as a bench light!!

    Very nice! I like the things you are doing to your home. Im glad your fuel prices are good in the US. I live in sweden and calculated that for me to run that heater would cost 200 USD per month, with our prices of fuel. 5-6 gallons per week. Im happy for you, all the best.

    You might want to check your local building codes for fire escapes before removing the bedroom window and the front door; they just might save your lives.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The little window is not egress. And the door won't be an issue also.

    • @kewljewl3006
      @kewljewl3006 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Had the same question. Are there requirements for the number of doors a house must have?

    • @jlurenzjr
      @jlurenzjr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This exact thing screwed me at my last house in New York. I did the same thing. Removed a door to the outside, did all this custom shelving and entertainment center then when I went to sell the house I was forced to rip that all out and put the door back. It was a fire code issue. That sucked! Something I never thought of.

    • @JoeandZachSurvival
      @JoeandZachSurvival  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In mn, it's required that every dwelling has one egress side hinge door. And then egress windows in every bedroom.

    • @jlurenzjr
      @jlurenzjr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeandZachSurvival ok cool. Yeah NY is ridiculous with all its codes and requirements. Btw didn’t know you could shred like that on guitar! Nice! Can I get some Ozzy on the next video?

    Zach I know that pine paneling doesn't fit your esthetics but when I was a teen my parents bought a ranch style house(1500 Sq Foot) that was built in the 1950s. My room had the old 50s style pine paneling and since the sun set on my side of the house that room was the warmest in the house. It was great for many years. I would love to sleep in a room now that got extra sun in the afternoon. I feel sure that paneling made a big difference. I current live in a 1100 Sq Ft townhome. You are correct about doors and even these windows let in a tremendous amount of cold air. I really do not want to add curtains but they would help cut down on the heat loss. I am planning to sell the townhome in the spring and I will be buying some land in the Western part of NC. I have decided that I am going to build a yurt it will give me about 900 Sq Ft. I don't need a lot of space and getting closer to 70 I don't want to spend a lot of time doing house work.

    hey Zach, if you keep your cars in a heated garage, keep them clean, heat activates road salt and rust your car. I'm an auto detail er and know from experience. its the reason my mustang is outside till i have time tp wash it.

    Zach I’d have to say that we both have the same taste on house colors!! We built are house back in 2000 and we put hardy plank siding on it and ended up painting all the trim on the outside white and then went with a blue for all the siding!! We have only painted it twice in 22 years!!! The very first time we painted the house we spent really good money on a very good paint and that would last much longer than a cheaper paint would go!! The only problem is we just haven’t found quite the Wright color of a blue!!! I’m thinking we didn’t get a blue with the Wright amount of gray in it!! We are planning on painting it again here in the next 2 to 3 years hopefully!!! With all the trim that we have on the house and painted white definitely helps break up the blue color in the whole house witch just helps make the blue pop but not to much if you no what I mean!!! I definitely love the color that you two picked for sure!!!

    It seems that you have enough toys for a dozen kids. The basement is full of toys, the living room is full of toys, the garage, your daughters room. TOYS EVERYWHERE!
