    a month later, gotta say this is an amazing tutorial. Love the machine, worst part of it is having to take it out of my setup so I can sleep with it and make beats in bed.

    This is really good. It's hard as someone totally new to this stuff, to get your head around it. Plus, I bet so many give up during the process. Helping people make great noises with this machine, it really helps maintain the interest. 'All these sound lame' 🤣 that was funny. Thanks for sharing

  • @DJeMo

    Loved this sneak peak into another's workflow cheers, the midi editor they released not too long ago is handy also, although once you learn the shift buttons etc and the good habits the menu diving on the hardware is easy enough, but the editor will defo help too everything one click and set... And hopefully they update the editor with some other wee bits it could take advantage off, look forward to more vids, keep em coming.... Very inspiring indeed, thanks again from Northern Ireland 🕺 🎶 🔊 🎹 🥁

    • @DankLiveAF
      @DankLiveAF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really should check out the editor. I’m really comfortable with using the unit itself though. Do you know if the editor allows you to sequence note that conform to a scale? That would be the main thing I’m interested in. Doing it on-unit requires an entire translation table.

    • @adamoliver82
      @adamoliver82 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The editor is handy but like you said, once you're comfortable with the machine it's easy enough anyway. The only place I find it really useful is in editing the effects that have deeper menus like saturator and comp+drive. Simply because it's all laid out in front of you to tweak. Sequencing to a scale and sample import would make it a truly worthwhile tool.

    Really good walk-through. The 8S seems very useful for get away from all the mouse based stuff, covering the essential percussive sounds, arranging and mixing them. The menu diving seems a bit tedious though. Does it annoy you or is it fine once you get used to it?

    Hey, following my other comments, you mentioned Akai Force at about 1hr 18mins. It would be freakin’ AWESOME if you did a similar style video for setting up and live performance on that machine. Like the TR-8S I have one, but never really got as comfortable as I wanted to be with it.

    • @DankLiveAF
      @DankLiveAF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s a pretty great idea! I’ll start to figure out what would be cool to show. The Force is EXPANSIVE but I think if I focused in on my methodology I could show something cool.

    • @izidave
      @izidave 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DankLiveAF ah man, thats would be ACE, I predict it would get tons of hits; like you say, the Force is a beast, so much in there, and most videos online don't give a solid path to start to get to grips. Maybe if a user is previously familiar with an MPC workflow its easier, but if like me you dont have that history it is daunting. Thanks again for the great vids.

    I own the tr-8s. Its a great machine but it has its flaws. One of them is that the sounds are a but dated. For modern techno, you need to upload new samples. Which it supports. Its just a pain in the ass.
    The best use for Tr-8s as I see it now is as midi controller for ableton. There are videos about that, so be sure to check them out.

    Loving this tutorial, had my TR-8S for ages but never drilled down through all the menus properly, this video is great and really helping me get to grips with it at last!! Which kick are you using though, I am using the 909 bass 1 but can’t get it to sound like yours so assuming you are using something else? Thanks

    • @DankLiveAF
      @DankLiveAF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey James, I think I’m using a sample from my DBI in this video. It crushes. I have another video on the channel that is for the Drumbrute to a link for the gumroad pack I made. I’m at work right now but I’ll grab the link later. Glad you enjoyed!

    Need some help….thanks to a very understanding wife and Santa- we have a TR8s! However have an issue with sound from channels- certain channels- BD, SD etc are really quiet- barely hear them. Only way to change is going into the Shift/ Inst mode and go to PAN and adjust up- can hear then, but as soon as you change pattern- no sound again……. I am bewildered!!

    • @DankLiveAF
      @DankLiveAF  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is it new from the factory? If so exchange it for a different unit. If you bought used or somehow can’t get you money back then try to do a factory reset. It sounds broken.

    • @Paintbynumbers29
      @Paintbynumbers29 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s really odd! You have to add Gain and move away from PAN centre on each channel every time you change pattern??
      Looking to get it replaced I think
