In this tutorial video I will explain how to apply sidechain compression to ALL instruments on the Roland TR-8S. I use the EXT IN to apply sidchain ducking and change the output of my instruments to one of the assign outs.
I hope that the musical information and licks I share help you in your music creations.

Excellent video very nice to learn this 😊
I'm glad I can help. Cheers
Dude I know I don’t spend enough time with my TR-8s but this is the video I’ve been waiting for! 🔥🙏🏽🙏🏽🇬🇧
Very useful! Thanks
Nice trick, thanks to you. I think you can also get more groove without side-chaining, just by applying some hard accent on step. Also very usful for side-chaining internal bass/low end sounds.
That's a great idea! Probably especially for the bass and low end. I will have a go on this. Cheers :)
NIce video for begginers!!!!!!! Thanks for all!
You're welcome!
Thanks
But when you send it through the external in, don't you lose any post processing, delay, FX and whatnot? Or are those applied earlier in the signal chain, i.e. before sending to the assignable outputs? Also, I'm wondering, if I send everything to assignable output 1 (or any of the numbers, not the letters), which is mono, wouldn't the whole sound stage collapse? Or am I understanding anything wrong?
I still remember playing with this, but ended up only using it for external mono bass for the reasons mentioned, but I'm not 100% sure if I remember correctly. Been some time. :)
