We use Premier Inn so 're time when visiting family around the country.
We had to book a premier plus room just before Christmas because it was all that was available. It was nice, but TBH, I wouldn't book again if a standard room was available - we only want somewhere clean to sleep and have breakfast before leaving for the day - so, for me, the extra money isn't worth it.

✨As someone who works at Premier Inn I wanted to give my professional opinion
First, yes there should have been two bottles of water in that fridge… I don’t know why it wasn’t there and I’m so sorry for that
On overall that room doesn’t reflect actual standard as this room is done wrong in so many ways, including the bed which is horrible and not up to brand standards
Also the kettle in that room is wrong and there is another kettle used in that room that is bigger and better
Plus, there are smaller pillows in that bag with extra pillows
About chocolates - you can always go back to reception or catch a housekeeper and ask fo more chocolates and tees (even if you are not staying in plus room 😜)
In general, you had every right to ask for your money back as I look at that room, the bed shocked me tbh. And as you come in the bedside lamps should have been turned on the pillows that should have been a lot more neat with light in the room turned off
You were also given a wrong key card, there’s another one for plus rooms that is themed for those rooms
And not all premier inns have the sign about illegal substances, it might be a thing in London, doesn’t say anything about the whole brand

Had a premier plus room in Bournemouth (if you're ever staying try to get one of the sea view rooms, one of the best room views in Bournemouth)
Main plus of the premier plus room was the fridge, there is complimentary water in it, and if you run out you just ask for more at reception. Basically unlimited.
And was great to go to Tesco and get some cold drinks that I could then keep cold.
    WiFi was also useful

I really do like a Premier Plus room, as I can pop down the shop and put my pepsi in the fridge to keep cool. After a night out a cold glass of water is so much nicer than the usual warm tap water too! They tend to put the Plus rooms on the higher up floors too for those of us who prefer a view, take away the £5/night for good wifi and it's definitely worth the money.

Staying at Premier Inns for work, I take advantage of the Premier Plus rooms when I can. In some of their hotels, the Premier Plus floor is also the quiet floor. As someone who has worked hard during the day, and absolutely knackered by the end of it, those little extras make a difference. Even the stool as somewhere to unpack your overnight bags. But then, my hotel expenses are paid for me. I always love the Nespresso machine.

I had two free bottles of water when I stayed in a Premier Plus room, and quite enjoyed it. I'll certainly stay in one again when I've got more time to kill at the hotel as they're more comfortable to work in and more relaxing generally... The fridge was a nice touch to chill a drink overnight and take out in the morning... Also if you take drinks up from the bar (as I do if I'm working in the room for a while) it's handy to keep them cool.

Premier Inn used to be my go-to chain, but they've changed to a "dynamic pricing" model, and they're now very poor value for money. September 2021, me and some friends stayed at a Premier Inn at Cardiff, and my room was £59 a night, including breakfast, which I think is pretty good value. In October 2022, we went back to the same hotel, as it was well located for us, and the price had shot up to £93 a night. The original plan had been to stay in another Premier Inn in the Cotswolds on our journey home, but their branch at Chipping Norton cost a truly shocking £160 for a standard room!! We ended up getting a far, far nicer Mercure hotel which cost just £7 more than what I'd paid for a night in Cardiff! Until such time as Premier Inn lower their prices, I will be in no hurry to return. It's a shame really.

I think this has always been the case - I needed to stay in Dover in August 2015 and it was about £80 per night (much more than when I'd stayed there a few months before). Hotels in general, like everything, have also shot up a lot in price recently. I think Premier Inn is still better value than say a Travelodge, but it's definitely worth shopping around for other options.

I stayed in one of these rooms before I knew what they were, it was simply the only room available. but the room I had was significantly larger than this, almost have a completely separate living space. It felt totally worth the little more. If that was the room I received I wouldn’t a known the difference. I was staying at Earls Court London.

I've spent a lot of time in Premier Inn's over the last 2 years for work, all within about an 8-10 mile radius of each other, and would definitely choose them over other hotel chains when they are available. I can see how the fridge could be handy if staying for a number of nights, as you could buy fresh milk, fruit juice etc from a nearby supermarket but I can't say anything else in that PLUS room would make an difference to me, especially as I'm out at work all day. They seem to have removed that sofa/bed/lounger thing that's normally pushed up against the wall. Not sure what it's for other than a good place to unpack a suitcase and thrown clothes on etc.

Tip for any hotel with the electric/room key thing. Any card from your wallet fits and works, so if it’s hot you can leave the air conditioning on and while you’re out of the room.

I like a mini fridge in a hotel. When we travelled through the UK, we never got one with a mini fridge which comes standard with hotels in Australia. We never thought to check and the reason you want a mini fridge, it is nice to have a cold drink during the night or if you bought some food during the day that's need to be in a fridge or in my case insulin that needs to be in a fridge so these Premier Inn PLUS Room would be my pick just because of the fridge.

    • @hannahk1306
      @hannahk1306 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, definitely a perk here in the UK. One tip if you need a fridge and the room doesn't have one is to ask at reception. Most hotels will have a fridge and sometimes a freezer that guests can use - they just ask you to have things labelled. It's obviously less convenient, because you have to ask at reception every time, but still useful to have.

I've stayed at the Premier Inn at Kettering in the past pre-covid and the room was freezing as the heating didn't work properly. The new style upgrade rooms do look nice and I'd probably choose them over the standard rooms. I look forward to seeing your next video.

Hi Tim, just spent a night at The Park Premier Inn in Harrogate. To be honest, the standard room we had was superb , apart from the coffee machine and fancy tea I dont see a lot of difference , oh, and the fridge of course. I have to add that the staff and meals ( meal deal) were excellent . My company had an account with Premier so I used them quite lot when I was working , now Im retired they are still my first choice for a short stay ,city break type of thing.

I did wonder what the difference was with the plus and whether whether it was worth it. Thankyou Tim you have answered my question. If I want a little bit of luxury I ll go for the plus otherwise I could settle for the normal rooms.

I love a Premier Inn. I was crew for British airways for 30 years and stayed in some of the best hotels around the world. A few years ago in an attempt to cut costs BA contracted Premier Inn to host us on our Heathrow night stops between trips. We were outraged at first but turns out the hotels were great and the food and drink was excellent value.

I've stayed in a Premier Inn Tim!!
    Last December 2021.
    I had a little adventure!
Just moved into my new house that was unbearably cold as I moved in December & the Extraction Fans were just like holes in the walls ( I've since made adjustments & house feels abit better)
But last December after a few weeks shivering with cold I packed a bag & booked into my nearest premier Inn for the first time.
I was that cold the staff gave me an extra Duvet!
First room I went too the heating wouldn't work so I got moved to another room.
It was a standard room but it had an extra big sofa where I sat wrapped up in the extra Duvet & it had a stunning view of a big Christmas Tree outside!
And you were right Tim, the soap dispensers were like what you get in a public toilet.
But the Bathroom was nice & it had a bath & shower over.
There was place to hang clothes in my room & a table & chair.
    Plus good sized TV.
I didn't get the Expresso Coffee Maker obviously being a standard room (tho I'm not a fan of Expresso!)
And I had no complementary Chocolate!
For the first 3 or 4 nights were fine then the air conditioning when really cold I thought the staff had turned it down on purpose cos I was always asking them to turn it up to 28°c.
But downstairs the Cafe & Bar was also freezing!
And everyone was complaining about being cold!
After a night of cold air blowing into my room I checked out early!
I was going to stay over Christmas but changed my mind I came back to my cold house instead.
At least I didn't have to pay to stay at home!
The positives about the Premier Inn was as you say Tim the bed was extremely comfortable & the room was clean.
But if I ever had to stay in a Premier Inn again I'd go in summer when it's naturally warmer.
I can't say I was impressed but that was only one experience in one Premier Inn.
The premium room you were in did look luxurious & I hope the Air Conditioning was more advanced that what I experienced!
Hope you had a really good stay Tim
And I'd like to wish you a Happy Birthday 🎂🎉🎊aswell.
I don't know what day your Birthday is on but I know it's in December so have a lovely time on your special 🎉 day🎊❣️

Yes I'm not sure for me it would be worthwhile paying extra for the premium room.
But now that you've told me about it if I do ever need to stay I probably would have the premium room just to check it out😂

This step up in PI rooms would certainly make me more likely to choose them over a Holiday Inn Extra say, I do though like full-service hotels and in particular some of the rather quirky old coaching inns like The Bear at Woodstock, price is not always my first consideration either when booking a hotel.

I always take my own tea and coffe to a premier inn or travelodge, only because I have a brand I prefer. I also buy a small bottle of milk at the local supermarket before I arrive, so I would appreciate a fridge in the room as I often have to throw milk away and buy a new one if staying for a few days

Premier Inns are my favourite hotels of all time. They have a certain vibe to them which other hotels dont have
