Lol, thanks for the assist Torvus! As for the crash, using screw attack on that enemy while the PB is going off usually crashes the game yeah. I guess I must've touched it a bit later than before when I got a crash, so either I got lucky or it was a close call..
As someone who used to do sort of a minimal speedrun of this game where I basically just got grapple beam early and tried to demolish the game as fast as I could seeing this is insane and it makes me want to pick up speed running this game again but using like actual strats and not just me learning on my own. I think my best run back when I was doing that was like sub 2:30.
Minimal items is even more insane. In current patch they even skip Morph Bomb, Screw Attack and Power Bomb. In Legacy, they skip everything except Flash Shift, Grapple and Speedboost - the triforce of axis skew. I've never gone that route but if you're curious check out the speedrun discord and look for a guy named Dioptas. :)
@@Arkandy lol I didn’t really specify what I meant I just grabbed grapple beam early since it’s one of the easier skips in this game and basically played the game on the normal route that normal players would take but just like as fast as I could go like I’d still get every upgrade and a couple missle and energy expansions I think one power bomb expansion I was never like a real speed runner sorry for the confusion.
A lot of it is accidental discoveries on top of accidental discoveries, and then we all just grind it out until the tricks and clips make sense. It was a process, lol! Anyway, thanks man!

What does single file mean here? I can't find that term being used anywhere related to speedrunning and if it is just that you are performing the full run on the same save then I wouldn't know why it's mentioned at all.
This is used in Dread specifically due to the "Bomuhey Skew" glitch. Normally you can only setup this glitch once you have Flash Shift and Speedbooster. But doesn't go away if you switch files, so you can carry it over into another file (ie. into a fresh file and run with the glitch activated from the start). That would be the Unrestricted Multi File category. So, in short, in Single File we're not allowed to start with this glitch already set so we're only able to use it later once we have the required major upgrades.
Thanks! This is a trick called Magus Skip. You have to do a buffered wall jump at a specific height, followed by an air melee and then respin onto the ledge to grab it. There is a proper and reliable setup to do it but I do it setupless.
That would be the Seam Pseudo. It's recently found tech that I'm not sure anyone's made a tutorial about. It was initially found by myself but others in the community contributed a good deal to figure out how we could use it to break that blob. The Metroid Dread speedrun discord is probably the only place to find information on this rn.

I'm working on trying to get a sub 4hr 100% hard mode run right now. While I know I need to optimize, this is just another level of optimized
Good luck with that! I'd recommend watching one of the top 100% Glitchless runs, even in rookie mode, and taking some notes on routing and movement.
