If you enjoyed the 3d visualizations, consider checking out @osukarui's channel, as he was the source of inspiration for these effects! If you want to see other game's I've found notable glitches in, @DoctorSwellman has a couple videos on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles that you should check out! Enjoy 🙂Also, be wary of spoilers when scrolling comments section!
I had a feeling this was coming after I saw your comments about the game. Can't wait to dive into this. Really excited about the editing since you have Osukarui credited for the inspiration on the 3D level animations
😄And for those curious about other game's I've destroyed -- DoctorSwellman has a few videos on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles that y'all might find interesting! Watch them chronologically for maximum amazement.
Actually a great video just got done watching after a few days, really loved the video and all the extras you added, especially the animations showing the route in detail and which paths they took or which parts got cut off, starfox was one of my first games ever back as a child and i remember beating it together with a friend after months of playing on and off, so seeing how quickly the game can be beaten nowadays thanks to people like you and the speedrun community is insane some of these techs seem like witch craft snd probably are to some extent lol. But yeah thanks for this awesome video really hope this blows up.
I have now finally finished the entire video and I have to say, this game has way more to it than I ever imagined, even as someone who has been the administrator of the Star Fox speedrunning community since like 2012. I am genuinely very impressed with the quality of the video and it was an interesting watch from beginning to end (even if split up in sessions). I do not believe you overdid the length of the video as it all felt explanatory and necessary for the full story, contradictory to what some other comments seem to think. This is an instant hall of fame video of the community in my book, and I very much appreciated the pannenkoek Easter egg at 2:37:47. Well done, great video, one of the best WR history videos I have seen!
So many just amazing things in this video. The Wireframe animations, both complete views of the world map, and all of the amazing diagrams. Such an incredible history. The descents into madness are always a blast. This game still wont be boring for a long time to come it seems. It's an honor to be part of this games history. The 4:19:25 is still my greatest speedrun ever.
I do still think that the 4:19:25 would be the most difficult run to beat for a given route through the game (i.e. treating each time the route changed or a glitch was discovered as a different category, this would be the most difficult category to beat). Since it was essentially the culmination of several years of optimization-grinding where the game was still several hours long, and the route changed very little over that time.
@lobsterzelda5372 I think that would have been a fair assessment before Ketsumomo's 52:56. That run is insanely clean for what it is. Though I suppose grinding a shorter category would be easier.
I belatedly realized just what timestamp in the video your run is at. Halfway, in a game where the entire video so far has been "Oh, here's a skip that saves twenty seconds..." That's how I knew this entire video would be one of those utterly unhinged ones.
bro i have no fking idea about any of this or why the hell this video got shown to me but i just watched this entire thing and i am officially a celestial_derp fanboy. literally zero clue how i got here. but here we are. respect bro youre like the beatles
This is some god-tier production quality for this video. Nicely done! I didn't know much about the world-record history for the game from prior to 2017 or so when I started watching JubJub's runs (and found BvQr's TAS of the game), so it was cool to see what the early-routes looked like for the game, as well (along with seeing the tricks that ended up being forgotten about and rediscovered 10+ years later).
My goodness, this is one of the most detailed speedrun world record history videos i've ever watched! The sheer detail you put into this is astonishing! Everything including the world map, explaining the route, the tricks, the script and coding of the game in-depth, all incredible and you deserve so much more recognition for your sheer hard work put into this video. Star Fox Adventures by itself was one of my childhood games of the Gamecube era, and i had absolutely zero idea all this time how incredibly broken and torn to pieces it has become by the many talented speedrunners and glitch hunters in it's community, last i knew the run was still around 3 hours even with a few major glitches used. It's up there with the likes of Zelda games such as Ocarina of Time of sheer brokenness. Can't leave you out either, you are amazing and i respect your sheer dedication and talent to document and find all this stuff, not many have the motivation and/or the skillset to completely tear a game apart like this, you well earned my sub and i hope you continue to grow from this video and future ones.
There's another really good one about The Hobbit if you haven't seen that one already. Excited to watch this one, i never got the chance to play this game as a kid.
Finally finished watching. Great stuff. This was one hell of a ride and I love how the glitches gradually got crazier and crazier ending in some absolutrly bonkers stuff. Great work with the 3D graphics and route progressions. Honored you would call me an inspiration!
Glad you enjoyed it! And for those watching -- if you like the 3d route visualizations, check out osukarui's channel. His N64 world record videos are honestly even higher production quality than this!
love the videos of both of you. The idea to visualize the routes through a 3D map of the level to visualize the skips is absolutely fantasic and i love seeing more Speedrun History vidoes utilizing this technique.
Absolutely fantastic video! You clearly put so much time and attention into your explanations/diagrams and it really helps elevate the experience. Still astounds me to this day how much you guys finally broke this game. Seeing SFA under 3 hours was like my ultimate dream back in the day so the fact it's under an hour now is wild! Thank you so much for making this and for including me, and congrats on finally completing this! :)
one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen! especially the thoroughness of your explanations and the visualization with the 3d models are phenomenal ty for this video, I really love this game and have a lot of nostalgia watching it again and seeing the speedrunning history of this game much love
What a video. Incredible. Love the 3D maps of the level with the dotted paths! The whole sequence after 2:36:00 is completely mindblowing. If you have yet to watch the video and plan to do so -- please don't skip ahead, it would ruin the surprise.
I have never come across a video at 10pm and thought”no don’t play it to fall asleep to because you need to watch the whole thing” until til today…so excited for this tomorrow 😅
I just hit the section that first mentions you running the game... You absolute lunatic, going for all the most cursed skips imaginable. And then keeping at this game until it hit sub hour levels of broken... Wild.
This is the best World Record History video I have ever seen. The level of passion you have for the game and its community is palpable throughout. I want to show this video to my grandchildren someday.
So many people give this game unessacary hate, everything about this game was outside the box for Starfox, and even today it still holds up as an absolute classic, the story, the gameplay, the atmosphere, this game is easily in my top 5 and I don't think that will ever change, awesome video man
I need to actually play it. It seems like the kind of game I'd love, and one that might have been a hit if it hadn't been rebranded as a Star Fox game at all. That music especially is just insanely good.
Hope all your effort put into this video is rewarded. Everything from script to graphics to research is top notch quality! Can't wait to see you become a big youtube name if you decide to continue on. Unparalleled quality
Amazing video and visualizations! I've never played Star Fox Adventures, but this video made it clear what the game asks of you and the amazing efforts of speedrunners and glitch hunters to tear this game apart.
absolutely love this game, so awesome to see a comprehensive speedrun world record video like this. Big fan of the full map model visualizations, great video !!
Had me staying up all night to watch this one. This video was incredibly well laid-out, well paced, and impressively visualized with a fine balance between routing explanations and actual runs. I especially like how the breakdowns of different areas were spaced apart throughout, as their routes became more relevant to the progress at that point in history. I haven't had the clearest memories of this game since I played it 20+ years ago (with exception of the Thorntail Hollow music) but this was a great way to reconnect with that experience. Really hope this gets the attention it deserves.
I got this game because i played 64 so, so much. Was disappointed that there was barely any star ship segments. I kept at it though because i still loved the adventure game play. I managed to beat it and collect everything and now, while i haven't played it in years, i still do love it fondly. I had no idea this game was speed ran, so not only thank you for this video , but the many hours of enjoyment I am going to have in the future watching this game be ran.
dude this was pushed to my recommended I pray you everyone even partially involved get the credit they deserve I don't think I've ever had a more incredible feeling of understanding this game I never even played past the first sections of the game of, I have vague memories but watching the complexity in this video man, its indescribable, hope everyone who sees this is blessed I watched this all the way on 2x speed and I almost regret it because if I was on normal speed I'd get to spend more time on the video. Cheers and love
Astonishing video! Great production quality and very smart approach to interleave run and detailed glitch-hunting history. I can't imagine how long writing the script for this took, either -- I had to stop and leave this comment near the end of Chapter 6 because GOOD LORD what a reveal!
Such high quality and so in depth. Marvelous video, I always wanted to see someone going over this game's speedrunning history, but never expected one of this level 🙏

Oof not even 5 minutes in the presentation is amazing. You could really rival Summoning Salt if you wanted to ahaha! Instant sub looking forward to watching this.
Super nostalgic speedrun for me because of how obscure finding footage of this game was back in the day. Heck the first video playthrough I found of the game kept losing audio in so many places but it was the best there was at the time. I still remember when the segmented speedrun was uploaded basically one episode a day, the most frustrating day being when they uploaded the segment of Krystal throwing the bomb in Krazoa Palace, just to save, and that was it for that day's segment, was so confused lol.
only like 10 minutes in and I know I have an absolute treat of a video, I'm so nostalgic for this game and it's one of my favorites. I did somehow beat it as a kid but yeah it took forever xD
I remember beating this game as a teen, without TH-cam and internet help. I was disappointed that there was no post game back then, hoping some plot points would still continue.
2:37:48 - talking about "parallel universes", that jingle from Super Mario 64 plays here. I know *exactly* which meme this is referencing, and I am here for it. Great video! I never got to play SFA, so I learned a lot about it from this video. The maps and the routing explanations were very very nice; I dare say they really took this video to the next level.
I played this game obsessively as a kid and NEVER beat it, pretty sure my control was messed up and got me soft locked at a button mash section of the game but I didn’t know things like that back then 😂 Still to this day the only starfox game I’ve played a one of the most influential games to my gaming experience growing up.
So even before you told us that the game is an open world with no loading screen, I was very impressed with the graphics. I really thought it had to be for the Wii.
just finished the video. Nothing but respect. People like you are why I think the internet isn't all bad. This is obviously a passion project for a niche topic. And I always love when people go all out even on videos that most likely won't reach that many. But hopefully I am wrong
i have zero clue how the helll or why the hell this got served to me or why i watched every second of it but this is so well made. i dont know about any of this stuff. also wanna say.. for something that is though to be so "dudes only"-- its amazing to see so much female representation in the speed running community and how huge of their contributions are. love it. once again, coming from someone who has zero clue wtf is going on and didndt even know this was a thing. great video
This game was my childhood, but you got the Dragon Rock map layout a little wrong. The leftover room is actually a P2 boss room left over from Dinosaur Planet, the beta to Star Fox Adventures. When Rare dumped the beta and reworked it into the final product the second boss room was cut due to the game end being extended. Originally Drakor was the final boss of the game so there were two rooms, one for phase 1 and the other for phase 2.
i dont know if its fitting but i do know some weird small things about this game that probably not alot of people know, not so much speedrunning besides 1 thing maybe but, weird things like being able to hear weird voices if you go into lightfoot village earlyer then your supposed to
This was incredibly well done - you have a real knack for visual teaching! Super fun to watch! Pantomime looks really cool and is such a cool idea! Where can I learn more about it and get in touch with you?
Those 3D animations were perfect for star fox adventures. I always wondered if it is possible for Krystal to enter the 6th krazoa spirit shrine? Let say's she magically teleported to the shrine could you activate it?
It's crossed our minds, but frustratingly starting the General Scales cutscene to collect K6 requires pulling out our staff -- which Krystal lacks entirely.
@@zcanannin the lore, that's her staff. I know she also loses it in the lore, sucks. I agree with the very common criticism of this game's production, that Krystal went from a deuteragonist to a damsel. I think a way to beat the game as her would be some form of belated poetic justice, but I understand that sticking point you mentioned isn't exactly going to be easy to overcome. Good luck starwing o7 Also, this video briefly mentioned a Krystal mod, so I might have to look into that for myself. As its a common criticism, its not surprising but nice to hear a modder was working on it, so I'll look into it. Cheers.
I remember playing this game, beating it, and I have little to no recollection of it. I think I enjoyed it overall - not sure why it was so forgettable to me. Likely had to do with how much impact Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia had on me I'd guess °-°
yo this is an incredibly well made video I appreciate what you've done here like a lot of other weirdos this game means a lot to me and it is nice to be able to revisit it in this context
I was interested until the runs, like usual, just became "go out of bounds". I just don't care at that point. Don't tell me to just go to glitchless, I didn't know how bad it'd be here when I started.
A popular US game store from the 90s and early 2000s, which became obsolete as games shifted to digital download Somehow they are still just barely alive today

Everybody gangsta til General Scales walk thru the wall
Algorithm, this one is worth it, pls
Astonishing video! Great production quality and very smart approach to interleave run and detailed glitch-hunting history. I can't imagine how long writing the script for this took, either -- I had to stop and leave this comment near the end of Chapter 6 because GOOD LORD what a reveal!

Man, the top run in this video has already been beaten by almost 30 seconds by Fuzziness.
The visualisations of the different steps in the route are excellent here, showing the impact of each skip on the whole graph.

Also this documentary gave me a slightly greater appreciation for SFA's soundtrack.
only like 10 minutes in and I know I have an absolute treat of a video, I'm so nostalgic for this game and it's one of my favorites.
I did somehow beat it as a kid but yeah it took forever xD
tfw one broken light ruins what would be an epic speedrun route
I kind of want to see what a run would be like in a mod that literally just fixes that light so the route could be valid.
I loved this game as a kid , thanks for the videos and the details presented, subbed!
I remember beating this game as a teen, without TH-cam and internet help. I was disappointed that there was no post game back then, hoping some plot points would still continue.
Top tier content
agreed, a pleasant watch
Added to the speedrun documentary playlist! Great job.
Swimming through the void that connects the maps is giving me HEAVY Interloper vibes. Kewl

Originally Drakor was the final boss of the game so there were two rooms, one for phase 1 and the other for phase 2.
i dont know if its fitting but i do know some weird small things about this game that probably not alot of people know, not so much speedrunning besides 1 thing maybe but, weird things like being able to hear weird voices if you go into lightfoot village earlyer then your supposed to
I'm 6 minutes in and I know in my heart we aren't finding all of these fuel cells the intended way
On a game this long, a SoB within 2 minutes of a PB is ridiculously well optimized
Yeah you earned the like, I can already tell
Take a shot every time you see Andross's stupid jiggly face.
I beat this game as a kid because I REALLY wanted to free Krystal. As a character, she altered the course of my life forever. XD
Great video!
This was incredibly well done - you have a real knack for visual teaching! Super fun to watch!
Pantomime looks really cool and is such a cool idea! Where can I learn more about it and get in touch with you?
I am so flabbergasted by finding this video, what a blessing hahah
Adding to this the sheer effort and quality in this video at just the 5 min mark is crazy good
incredible work
Those 3D animations were perfect for star fox adventures.
I always wondered if it is possible for Krystal to enter the 6th krazoa spirit shrine?
Let say's she magically teleported to the shrine could you activate it?
also ++ for fox mounting fox animation
Ah sadly not, part of triggering the cutscene to get K6 requires pulling out your staff -- which Krystal lacks
Krystal only is the holy grail.
Good luck starwing o7
Also, this video briefly mentioned a Krystal mod, so I might have to look into that for myself. As its a common criticism, its not surprising but nice to hear a modder was working on it, so I'll look into it. Cheers.
I remember playing this game, beating it, and I have little to no recollection of it. I think I enjoyed it overall - not sure why it was so forgettable to me. Likely had to do with how much impact Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia had on me I'd guess °-°
i liked the video because of your "shameless plug"
@_@ I know, I'm a terrible human
congrats on your under 2hr wr btw
yo I always assumed this game was rock solid from a programming perspective but based on what I'm seeing 3 minutes in clearly I've been mistaken lmao
yo this is an incredibly well made video I appreciate what you've done here like a lot of other weirdos this game means a lot to me and it is nice to be able to revisit it in this context
I guess you could now claim to have championed both ESW... and ESL, with that game you made. Ha!
I was interested until the runs, like usual, just became "go out of bounds". I just don't care at that point. Don't tell me to just go to glitchless, I didn't know how bad it'd be here when I started.
What's a GameStop? I haven't seen them in Germany.
A popular US game store from the 90s and early 2000s, which became obsolete as games shifted to digital download
Somehow they are still just barely alive today
😂❤ did the dinosaur planet plan it tho 😮 🤣
PaY fiFtY ScaRABs tO gEt To CaPe CLAAA-AW
I love when these people say "she" and you just know its not a she lmao
k i love these vids but 3 hrs man .... common
I wanted to watch this but the length is absurd. Mutliple parts or cutting large amounts of filler is needed.
No thanks
