Loved that last drill/ point about the left arm. I added the left arm action to my throw about a year ago and its helped in both distance and consistency for me. When first trying to incorporating this into your throw separate the 2 actions, coiling and releasing. So drive in with your left arm and leg but stop/brace the momentum with the right side. Start with it being 2 completely different moves. It shows how throwing off that body position is powerful. Once that is established start to bring the moves closer together, at some point you'll hit the right timing. For some reason it seems easier to speed up an action correctly than it is to slow it down correctly if that makes sense.
Needed this one. Smooth snap is the most difficult to me along with nose angle. Former college football player with lots of prior injuries, so I feel stiff a lot and pull my arm vs letting it snap for me. Also with my baseball background too, I struggle sometimes with overturning forehands, so if you need a test dummy for that let me know! Great vid
Sorry I didn't phrase that right! I'm Lucas from the video and I'd love to show my improvement. Especially since I plan on competing in the Glass Blown Open in April.
If the change by this instruction adds a snap never been there before the discs his bag might suddenly all be like two stages of stability to low until the angle of release is changed over time, bring a stack of slightly stable to overstable discs for the session. *I don't have any facts behind the videos so it might already be there* This will help me backing up from my bad habits, the drills making you feel before real are just great!
You demonstrated the left arm movement correctly, but then let the student do it wrong. The goal is for the left arm to help start the hip rotation but then the hand should *stop* down close to the body (at about your left pocket) and as the upper body unwinds it just holds position (you're actually pushing it back a little, but visually it appears to hold still). Your student came away with the impression that he was trying to throw the left arm forward and up.
Thank you. Your drills, tips, and explanations are concise and easy to follow.
Love the explanation that your body throws your arm, I have trouble trying to explain that to people. That's an easy way to wrap your head around it
fantastic instruction

Much needed tips, can't wait to try them out, all at once. 😁
