Does SALANGO Manabi have the Best Beach? | ECUADOR

  • Salango in the Manabi Province is best beach in Ecuador people haven't heard of. A small fishing village, most people come to Salango Island.
    You can take a boat out there. There's snorkeling. You can do whale watching. There's also sea lions, it's actually supposed to be better than Puerto Lopez. And definitely a lot less crowded.
    This soft sand beach in Ecuador is uncrowded, except for Ecuadorian fishermen bringing in their daily catch.
    It's also home to El Delfin Magico or the magic dolphin. One of the most well known restaurants in Ecuador for seafood. Many people say, it has the best seafood in Ecuador.
    You can choose which fish you would like, which type of preparation you would like, so whether you like it steamed or grilled. Or the most popular options actually are al ajillo, which is sauteed in garlic and encocado.
    Encocado refers to being cooked in coconut milk, coconut cream. And it's a uniquely coastal dish in Ecuador. They cook it only in coconut milk.
    So if you're lactose intolerant, this is a really great place to go.
    There's also camarones al ajillo or shrimp in a garlic sauce. Really good, you can’t go wrong with it.
    Another house specialty is percebes or gooseneck barnacles. If you're with a group it's worth trying. Percebes taste like mussels but look quite different.
    And finally pulpo en maracuya, which is octopus and it's cooked with a passionfruit sauce. It is so tender and doesn't taste fishy at all.
    In Ecuador you might find octopus, but is not common for Ecuadorians to eat it. But here in Salango Manabi this is a very classic dish. So Salango is the best place to try it. With cold beer this is the perfect lunch.

      @@ayngelina I've lived in Mexico for many years. Currently I've been living in Cuernavaca Morelos about an hour and a half from Mexico City. I've also lived in San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato, my mother owned a home there for 12 years. San Miguel has been voted as one of the best small cities in the world to retire in by Conde Nast Magazine. I think Cuenca or Manta might be interesting places for me to live.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Resmith18SR ok good reference. So I think Cuenca would be most similar to San Miguel de Allende in that it's a beautiful historic city with a lot of expats and it probably has the most English spoken by locals as well. It is a bit chilly in the winter, you'll need pants and a sweater in the evenings. But Cuenca is safe, and a hub for gastronomy. Also there are lots of great little towns around it.
      Manta is a big city on the coast. I haven't spent much time there but I'm going in January to explore. Driving through it smells disgusting. But Manabi has amazing beaches and as it's a city it has good access to most things you'd want, unlike other beach towns. Safety is a bigger concern and I think choosing the right neighbourhood makes or breaks the place.

    • @Resmith18SR
      @Resmith18SR 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ayngelina Thank you so much for that Angelyna. I wonder why Manta would have a bad smell but I'm sure you can tell me more after you go there and thoroughly check it out. It looks nice there on various videos I've seen on TH-cam.

      @@Resmith18SR oops I thought you knew! It's an important city for tuna fishing and there are processing plants there.
