I think it's an up and coming surf town. I had planned to go to Ayangue but Ecuadorians have told me the food isn't good so I think I'm going to skip it on my next trip. What do you think?
The only way to establish the type of town the residents want is to establish ordiances to prevent the coming Montanita. I am surprised is was cooler there. There is one two in the very north of Ecuador, close to Panama, whose name escapes me--anyway, there, it is as humid as Olon. Thanks for the video.
That's a good point, I don't know about the geography. But a lot of Ecuador is warm during the day and cool at night. It was also quite windy, which you could see from the waves. Sadly the first sunny day was the morning we were leaving so I'm not sure I had a true experience of the weather.
Interesting, these ones don't. The secret is to use boiled plantain and grated/shredded raw plantain. It has also has egg. but I'd be interesting to see how flour changes the consistency.

Conocer gente no tan complicada.
I think it's too late. Already happened. Still a very charming little Pueblo... Exaggerated prices for sure. You just have to resign yourself to it for a few daze... It's the Gringo effect....
This town is already more crowded than it should be. Thanks to this kind of exposure and marketing the cost of living here has gone up dramatically. I've been coming here for 11 years now and don't really like seeing it turn into the mess that is costa rica these days. The surf is getting really crowded and now it is the most expensive place in Ecuador now. We don't need any more exposure like this.
Jared I can completely understand your frustration. For the record I loathe Costa Rica because everything is foreign owned and while I appreciate their dedication to the environment, the local culture is gone. But price increases aren't because of TH-cam videos. For the first time in 10 years when Lasso increased the price of gasoline and taxes, minimum wage (for a good reason) it meant prices increased everywhere in Ecuador...as it did everywhere in the world. I've been visiting Ecuador since 2010 and I think the increase in price along the coast is inevitable, especially for surf spots. The change in Canoa shocked me since I last visited in 2013 when it was a tiny village. And Ayampe is certainly not a hidden secret. It's part of the coastal trail most people visit. My only hope is that it is Ecuadorian businesses that benefit from this.
@@ayngelina fair enough. Travel writing is probably fun and I've considered it myself, so I get what you're doing it's just that this place has exploded over the last five years and it breaks my heart to see how fast it's being developed. It is a great place but it's having some serious growing pains the last few years. Safe travels 😉
@@jaredwinter5125 I totally get it. I've actually run my site since 2010 (it's my job, TH-cam is just a hobby) and have traveled non-stop so I see what happens. For me it's about does the growth help locals? And so I returned in 2021 because I wanted people to consider Ecuador when they started traveling again because small business and tourism was devastated. You should probably go back to Ayampe now because when I was there I think maybe 25% of businesses were open and I'm not sure what happened to the rest. That said, I really do hope it can avoid what happened to Montanita, I think because the beach isn't really for swimming it could remain that way.

@@williamsjara1 I'll be checking out the beaches in Esmeraldas this January.
That drink looks soooo refreshing! I've never seen an orange that looks like a kiwi inside. 😲
Naranjilla is a weird but delicious fruit. But we should chat about 2022, maybe we can coordinate travel in the same place.
@@ayngelina yes!! I have some questions for you regarding being a travel vlogger.
Food looks great! I don't know how you stay so fit eating all that rich delicious food.
I share all my food, but even still it's a constant balance.
The beaches down there are spectacular. I've read about them in books and you're actually there.
Which one do you want to know the most about?
Yum yum yum, I want to shred some of those waves and empanadas!
So good!
