In Valhalla you feel immersed and tangible with the characters you meet and their collective story arcs and missions that weave its way through the plot. Valhalla might not be as vibrant or colourful as Odyssey but the locations of both games are very much so on opposite ends of the spectrum obviously. The skill tree and level-up system in Valhalla has exceeded its predecessors with every 1-2 story missions earning you enough xp to unlock a new skill that'll help you in the specific area you're playing in. The combat feels fluid and easy to understand, within a few minutes of playing you really start to enjoy and get the hang of the combat style. I'm 110 hours in and have just finished exploring the entire map and have done a few story missions along the way, but I've fully maxed out my skill tree just by exploring and am just starting to get back to the story again. The only thing I can fault Valhalla on is the lack of guidance when you come across certain buildings or underground structures that have loot inside but cannot be opened or unlocked. They can only be opened after the specific story arc for that region has been completed.
The one thing that really grinds my gears is the raven/eagle no longer identifies the enemies while flying around so you have to be so close and then use Odin sight, another one is the world event quests don't have any objectives whatsoever so you have to guess what to do half the time
I'm actually happy they didn't put both of those things into the game. I was sick of flying around for 5-10 minutes to detect enemies in a base. Now I can simply use Odin's sight to quickly pulse through the place to mark them red. For the thing that there's no objectives or markers that's also good because you actually have to think for a little instead "ah yes go to that marker and that". There's hints and notes placed around the environment all the time or the dialogues also indicate what you should do. It's really nice. I'm for the first time not bored of anything in a game since I find it really cool and engaging that the game makes you actually THINK. That's how a game should be.
I have a wolf, a fox AND a cat. I just realized yesterday I can pet Nali by facing her in the long boat. I have 300 plus hours. Edit to add Iduin's heart skill is a life saver.
@cloudykai I’m not the cocky one. Both games on normal and GoS has a smaller party window. You have to parry just as the attack is about to hit you (enemy’s swing is at forward momentum) but with Valhalla it still counts as a Larry when the enemy is still winding their attack. I don’t know where you’re getting that I’m cocky when you think a smaller parry window is easier than a larger parry window.
The longship cat is actually findable through one of the Mystery world events. What the game ACTUALLY doesn't tell you is that if you stand or crouch right in front of the cat when it's in your longboat Eivor will automatically start to pet it. In a similar vein, if you leave Eivor standing around for a short bit their crow Synin will fly in and land on their shoulder, the same way Kassandra's eagle Ikaros will do.
Just started playing and learn about the assassination option. Thank you I missed a couple of the other Assassin's creed games but the old ones I used to play having the 1 hit assassination is what made it so fun. Will never forget black flag tho. My favorite forever.

You actually need fabric to upgrade your rations past a certain point and fabric is quite rare. It only really spawns in small chests in mid to high level areas.
A tip for valhalla when it comes to the skill trees. You can basically clear all of the fog by resetting your skills over and over and investing them towards the trees you havent uncovered yet. The more levels you have the more fog you can clear per reset.
@uavdoug985 definitely a waste of time. The game doesn't have a max level cap. You can basically unlock everything by the end of the game and have all the skills
Crazy tidbit I just discovered in Valhalla. On Layla Hassan's computer she has 2 emails in the game that discuss COVID, with someone asking if she is isolated due to that and her response back saying no shes fine, etc. A subtle hint at the prospect of real world/reality based story of an Abstergo like company running an Animus of some kind disguised as a fictional videogame? Or just a coy nod from devs to the modern craziness in our real world to make it feel more real? Hmm... Some more HEAVY topics in the laptop files as well, highly recommend reading.
lol As weird as it sounds, one of my favourite parts of each Assassin's Creed title is the emails and files. In each one, I read every single one of them. The second I exited the Animus for the first time in Valhalla, I immediately looked for the laptop and read everything. I had to laugh when I got to the COVID part. Without giving away spoilers to those who haven't played yet, the Earth in Valhalla is apparently having a very crappy 2020 as well. So figures they'd have COVID, too.
I think in the emails it says a virus out of China was the part of the catastrophic event thats happening in the modern story. Like they tied it into the Isu storyline.
@Nelson Templar lol Been a fan since the beginning, and consume every bit of lore I can get my hands on, and I've never thought of it like that before!
The skill that slows time when you dodge is probably the best. I aimed for it early on since I'm playing this in nightmare. Stay close as much as possible and dodge when necessary.
I like the assassinate 100 percent feature... Thats what an assassination is... Not a punch in the face and still see your opponent standing. Just bought the game might have to use this feature. I don't get why the "Wolf" isn't stealth though... Raven should be Archery... Wolves are stealth... Little nit pick but still one of mine.
Yea that’s something that has always bugged me about stealth in games. It’s like “I’m gonna hide and shove a blade into this guys liver, but if he’s bigger than me he might not die” I’m pretty sure even a “strong dude” would die to that. I turned it on
i've put 20 hours into the game already and i turned guaranteed assassination on and i love it. If you stab someone in the head, they're gonna die lmaoo. Makes the game feel better imo.
I think think one good option is to play the normal difficulty and no 100% assassination to play more of a fighting game. And the other cool option is to play all max difficulty and with 100% assassination to encourage you to play stealthy. I might try both options but only when the game is cheaper.
10:04 I needed this. Finnaly it's possible to sneak in again without the possibility that somehow an enemy survives after cutting his throat. That just breaks it for those who want to play the game stealthy like the older AC games. It does not feel like cheating at all. Turning it off is more like a cheat for the AI.
Is it fun though? You can instantly 1 hit everyone with this possibility. Kinda ruins the game for me to be honest. At least everyone can do as he or she wants :)
@@Soradakanizat it depends. Have you played the original AC games? 1 hit assassinations were normal in those games. So this option is nothing more but a bit of nostalgia. I still fight normal combat style the moment i've been discovered. You still play as a viking after all.

@@crown_clown yeah I am. I did the seers solace quest without the patch, afterwards the patch (1.02) installed its self. I hope I won’t find any bugs though. Already put in 10 hours lol
Man it feels really weird to be a stealthy assassin in this game, doesn’t feel right for a viking to be sneaking and assassinating. I feel like jin sakai all over again
Its actually more realistic then you might think somethings during that time needed to be quieter, especially nightly raids. Things were planned out strategically.
At least it's not as bad as sneaking around in full Spartan armour, idk why they don't just take the assassin's creed name off these games at this point
@@bazookatooth because, think about ac odyssey is before the assassin's. Also there is stealth gear in odyssey, there telling a story if there going to go futher and futher in the past ,then there shouldn't be large elements of what we saw in the future like we saw in older games. We are going through history things will seem diluted just a little. Now that i think of it, i believe Odessy is the true beginning of the franchise, so it wouldn't have templers or the assassin brotherhood. Even the villans in that game said there just an idea of the future to come and others will step in taking there places so You can expect Odessy to be different i knew it was going to be like that since its the beginning of the story Origins Which is the creation of the brotherhood. Odessy is the beginning of the templars, orgins is the start of of the assassin's brotherhood.
@@BoneViolyn AC now bears almost no resemblance to the original trilogy pitch that got scrapped after AC 2. I like the direction they went with origins, but at this point it's clear that any AC element, gameplay or lore, is just there for the sake of it. You could remove every creed reference from the past 2 games, and they'd play the same. It's clear they want to move on from the franchise, but AC is too big of an IP
I've just started my second playthrough and, while there is no "wrong" way to play, I do have a small tip for new players. When you start building your village don't waste supplies building the cartographer until the very end. Randvi recommended building his hut when Raventhorpe hits Level 2 (and I did) but it's a total waste. First, he charges you silver for his maps. Not the biggest deal as you have plenty pretty quick but... you built him a free home and he's charging you for his knowledge? Jerk. Second, and more importantly, they are useless. If you just wander around you're going to find every single place anyway. Why waste the valuable supplies building his place when they can go to more worthy ventures.
yeah it completely useless. At first I thought it's something special with some special locations but it just show icons on map in stead of yellow spot lol

Tip: Get Idum's heart and if take too much damage from fighting or falling down a mountain it heals it back in some time however don't get hurt till you are healed because it will cancel the healing and then make the hp regen less. Also once you get enough abilities or perks that make you take a lot lot less damage, get wolf warrior and remove idum's heart since it removes the point of wolf warrior and wolf warrior basically makes you do more damage the less hp you are which can make you do 100 damage or more with a heavy attack which is kinda op.
You can still use idum's heart with lone wolf but you wont be able to do as much damage since you heal the hp up but you will be able to survive longer
@@complicatedairflow4242 You can time it with one heavy attack at the last second before hitting the ground. Or you can spam it if you’re not paying full attention!
Goddamn fire. I was extremely low on health one time, survived the fight and went to go loot, messed up when climbing and jumped into a torch. Died pretty much as soon as I landed.
Between the wolf, dandypuff and the cat, I am ELATED with how many animals I have around me all the time. Finding Dandy sleeping in my room has been the highlight though.
Kind of wish it actually told you about that guaranteed assassination option right away. Like the fact that they said you would be able to assassinate anyone regardless of level, is actually one of the reasons I got this game. It is something that has been missing from the franchise for to long, and I am actually really happy it is finally back, makes it feel a lot more like assassin's Creed. Although turning it on kind of makes me feel like some of my skill points go to waste, since I am not sure if things like stealth damage actually effect anything else. And I thought there was also some that said assassination damage, which I would assume would also be a complete waste, but sadly you have to get a number of them, in order to progress through the skill trees.
@ImpishDCrealm ya, there is a fair number of skills that I really don't use at all, or don't notice being used even though they are supposed to be passives. But I guess you can at least fill out the entire skill tree easy enough, so even though I don't use any wolf gear, I at least have the perks there and ready if I ever find any I like. But ya, a fair number feel rather lack luster or useless, especially depending on what type of gear you use, and weapons you like using.
I love how story focused it is and there aren't a million grind side quests to do like in every other open world game. The story is the focus and the world around you I'd just a bonus, not something you have to run the same errand in over and over.
Also If in the modern-day section you go to Layla's laptop and read the emails apparently the world of AC they still have covid which was a pretty fourth wall breaking thing to do lol
I saw that too, pretty crazy. A subtle hint at something from devs? Always wondered how some of these super detailed documents and "stories" in some of these games were created and written. Pulled more from real world than we know? Disguised as 'fiction'? Dunno but interesting detail either way
If you press C (default crouch/parkour down) right before/as you hit a low obstacle Eivor will quickly jump/vault over it like Conor could in AC:3. Probably a lot more well-known, but if you press crouch while sprinting Eivor will perform a slide into the crouched position. Obviously the key is C when playing on a keyboard but I believe its O on Playstation and B on Xbox by default. If you didnt know this and it helped you give this a like so other can see it!

I'm about 40 hours in on my first play through. I now just randomly throw skill points anywhere. Once you have stomp and the counter roll skills the game gets way easier. Thinking about upping difficulty.
Dual wielding gives you more combos if you’re wielding 2 of the same type of weapon and the final hit of any dual wielding combo does the damage of both weapons. The offhand weapon ability is also not just another attack, it is that weapons special attack
All of the navigation stuff you talk about was in the previous two games. The map isn’t cluttered with stuff if you chose to play in Exploration Mode, which was one of the first questions asked when opening the game (if I’m remembering correctly).
You are correct - I started a new Odyssey game a few weeks ago and, indeed, it's one of the first things the game asks you and even has "(This is how Assassin's Creed was meant to be played)" labelled on it.

One thing that was partially mentioned is the weak points and enemy stun/stamina bars. If you deplete the bar first, you can hit the weak points for additional stagger opportunities.
As a new player and didn't know is keep pledging to regions until you can do the Glowcestershire arc. After completing it you can now buy special items previously only available via special time limited events. The best one to buy is the winged horse for 700 silver. For those who want a pure Assassins creed assassination experience, go into settings and you can turn on one hit assassinations. allowing you to well, do what most OG fans want by using the hidden blade on enemies once, as this increases stealth gameplay in my opinion and makes it more enjoyable. P.S. For the no it all’s, you cannot execute bosses, i can’t execute specific order of ancients targets either so stop making shit up to fit your stupid narrative, like i just said it doesn’t change combat what so ever, it allows you to take out those regular fuck heads in camps to do actual stealth assassinations like it’s meant to be to help reduce numbers before you call in your crew for a raid.
or keep it on so when you come up to this massive boss and try to stab him he blocks you and rolls you over (or some other cool animation), and if you get the perk you get a 2nd chance (one shotting him).. for me it takes away so much to turn that feature on
I actually did exactly what you suggested here and I’m like “oh cool this guy is telling me something I’ve thought like a thousand steps ahead” lmao. But good video! Definitely helps everyone who doesn’t know these tips.
Another 2 incredibly useful skills are 1. Dual heavy wield - it allows you to have two heavy weapons ( mostly axes) equipped at once and 2. Maybe even more useful is missile reversal- it takes a little time to figure out timing but once you do it gives you the ability to throw arrows, bombs, spears, etc back at your enemies( most of which cause extra damage and about 1/2 end up stunning the enemy for a couple of seconds)
Dual wielding is unrealistic and dumb, it's bad in any game, including Skyrim. If you don't use a Destruction spell in one hand and a melee weapon in the other hand, i don't even wanna talk to you. You are definitely not going to end up on my Steam friends list. Bye!
Thing I only found out after SO many hours and having completed both the base game and the first Season Pass: You can talk to the Stable guy in your settlement and pay to upgrade your horse's stamina and have it swim. I wish I had that for the whole time I played.
When I say that I thought there was multiple settlements I honestly thought each region had a settlement that we had to rebuild and level up. People who were complaining that this game is too hard to finish clearly does not have experience in games like Assassin's Creed or any RPG game. As long as you maintain your armor upgrades and you have a strong skill build with your runes this game can be done on any difficulty. Example if you are on the final region that requires you to be power level 340 your armor weapon should be close to mystical Just like what they did with Far Cry New Dawn how basically if an enemy had a gold bar health your weapons need to be legendary or exotic. Is the same concept.
BRO ! GET THIS UP ! I HAVE FOUNF OUT, THAT IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET A DOOR, AND IT SAYS ITS BARRED. IF IT IS A WOODEN DOOR, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS GET A TORCH AND STAND NEAR IT THE DOOR WILL BURN AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO IN WITHOUT HAVING TO SOLVE A "PUZZLE" TO GET INSIDE
@@charliewilliams2775 no, ill even give you proof, so, go to isle of ely there is a monastery if you go through the "back entrance/cave)", you will find it with the crow by flying over go through there, (unless you been there before) you will find the doors are "barred", grab a torch and stand near it to let it burn. voila

From what I've seen you definitely so damage with you're second weapon, alot of the combo attacks while dualwielding, especially while dual wielding two handed weapons
Using flaming arrows is worth it because there are certain runes that enhance elemental damage, and the runes stack. I prefer a mixture of poison/flame build bc the added edge gets very significant as you get more powerful runes
Here's a few more you might not know yet: There's a skill called "Incendiary Powder Trap" that can explode walls for you if you don't want to go looking for oil jars. The "Explosive Corpse" skill has the same effect. Booby trap a corpse, place it in front of the wall, lure enemy near it, boom. You can also throw booby trapped corpses at enemies to instantly stun them. The "Thrill Of War" skill allows you to farm adrenaline and fill all your slots easily. Drag out a fight against an easy enemy as much as you can. Your adrenaline slots will fill as long as you remain in combat. The Thames river in the immediate area around Lunden is a gold mine if you can bring some patience. The waters there are full of big Pollocks, each worth around 30 silver. Invest half an hour in fishing there and you can easily pull over 1000 silver out of the water. You can use the photo mode to scout out the inside of a room and its immediate surrounding area. Especially useful when you're trying to figure out how to get that damn barred door open. It won't allow you to look through anything the game considers a barrier, but if you can find or create even the smallest opening in a wall, photo mode will allow you to zoom through that small gap and right into the area behind the wall.
Fyi, regarding falling: you can still die even with the breakfall ability if you fall from a super high cliff. It just prevents damage from moderate heights (2-3 storeys maybe).

I'm for the first time not bored of anything in a game since I find it really cool and engaging that the game makes you actually THINK. That's how a game should be.
@@crown_clown it worked well in origins due to smaller base sizes and less enemies but in odyssey it was horrible
If you pay attention to the events you’ll know what to do. That is the point of the game is to not ignore the dialogue or letters.
*Laughs in stealth recon*
You can unlock a skill that when you are crouched all the enemies light up. Very handy.
I have a wolf, a fox AND a cat. I just realized yesterday I can pet Nali by facing her in the long boat. I have 300 plus hours.
Edit to add Iduin's heart skill is a life saver.
How do you even play that game for 300 hours?
After playing ghost of Tsushima, parrying in this game is so easy.
of course xD im playing on the hardest difficulty
And for honor lol
right lol
After playing sekiro
parrying is a normal thing
In odyssey, you could pet/feed the eagle when it was on your arm by pressing a button(idk which sorry). I haven't seen that in valhalla yet
Ikaros was sweet and would sit nicely. Synin bites at your head, but makes sense for a raven. They’re mischievous.
the same thing happens when you're Bayek in Origins with Senu
Its Alexios's eagle tho.
Good catch. I’ll try to crouch niw
The ability I recommend the most is the regeneration ability it will make you a whole unkillable unit

A tip for valhalla when it comes to the skill trees. You can basically clear all of the fog by resetting your skills over and over and investing them towards the trees you havent uncovered yet. The more levels you have the more fog you can clear per reset.
Waste of time
@uavdoug985 definitely a waste of time.
Hmm... Some more HEAVY topics in the laptop files as well, highly recommend reading.
damn sounds interesting, im still waiting for the crack
lol As weird as it sounds, one of my favourite parts of each Assassin's Creed title is the emails and files.
Yeah I found that too! Thought that was funny
The skill that slows time when you dodge is probably the best. I aimed for it early on since I'm playing this in nightmare. Stay close as much as possible and dodge when necessary.
Haven't seen anywhere about the fact you can call your mount but if you continue to hold the button down u will automatically mount it
True . And I just discovered I can slide if I sprint and hold down the dodge button

Right!! Was thinking the same thing, wolf as archery?
Yea that’s something that has always bugged me about stealth in games. It’s like “I’m gonna hide and shove a blade into this guys liver, but if he’s bigger than me he might not die” I’m pretty sure even a “strong dude” would die to that. I turned it on
i've put 20 hours into the game already and i turned guaranteed assassination on and i love it. If you stab someone in the head, they're gonna die lmaoo. Makes the game feel better imo.
@@aaronroach8218 i actually have that qte thing and its actually fun...its a mix of both the old OG ac and the newbies AC
I think think one good option is to play the normal difficulty and no 100% assassination to play more of a fighting game. And the other cool option is to play all max difficulty and with 100% assassination to encourage you to play stealthy.
I might try both options but only when the game is cheaper.
3:50 breakfall doesn’t prevent fall damage, it increases the height at which you take damage, and it also reduces damage from tall heights.
If you press x(controller) or your designated dodge bottom you can lessen the dmg taken by rolling.

@@BoneViolyn yeah i was always raiding at daytime so it feels weird to stealth but yeah ill try it in the night lol so i have an excuse to sneak
Ive played the original ac as well as ac syndicate and ac odessey
And valhalla feels the so much better i love the hidden blade return
Cartographer is definitely useless. The strange men walking the world around with ? over their heads do the same thing.
yeah it completely useless. At first I thought it's something special with some special locations but it just show icons on map in stead of yellow spot lol
Even with breakfall you still take damage depending on the height of the jump, and yes can still desynchronize from falling too far

Surprised me that nobody said it I never died again after getting it

I'm glad to know that. Bought the game today

Maybe even more useful is missile reversal- it takes a little time to figure out timing but once you do it gives you the ability to throw arrows, bombs, spears, etc back at your enemies( most of which cause extra damage and about 1/2 end up stunning the enemy for a couple of seconds)
Where is before you buy?
literally wtf, that should've been the first thing he posted way before release
It's up now
I learned my lesson that dual-wielding is bad early game from Skyrim, thank you
Dual wielding is unrealistic and dumb, it's bad in any game, including Skyrim.
Once you mastered the raid in Legends of the Ghost of Tsushima, you are a god of assassins creed Vahala
Example if you are on the final region that requires you to be power level 340 your armor weapon should be close to mystical
Just like what they did with Far Cry New Dawn how basically if an enemy had a gold bar health your weapons need to be legendary or exotic. Is the same concept.
I found the game hard to finish because it put me to sleep
The cat was definitely worth number one spot. Thanks for the heads up, this game is purrrfect now
BRO ! GET THIS UP ! I HAVE FOUNF OUT, THAT IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET A DOOR, AND IT SAYS ITS BARRED. IF IT IS A WOODEN DOOR, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS GET A TORCH AND STAND NEAR IT
THE DOOR WILL BURN AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO IN WITHOUT HAVING TO SOLVE A "PUZZLE" TO GET INSIDE
I'm trying this next time I go on, if it doesn't work I swear down I'm going to be so mad at you for wasting my time
@@charliewilliams2775 no, ill even give you proof,
so, go to isle of ely
there is a monastery
if you go through the "back entrance/cave)", you will find it with the crow by flying over
go through there, (unless you been there before) you will find the doors are "barred", grab a torch and stand near it to let it burn. voila
@@charliewilliams2775 this is an example, a lot of barred doors are the metal ones, but this can save the annoyance of finding an entrance, by going around etc when the door is made from wood
@@laurencealcatraz1837 I'll have a look when I'm on again, didn't think it would work for the padlock ones, may just be a little glitch
Some barred doors can even be destroyed by attacking
From what I've seen you definitely so damage with you're second weapon, alot of the combo attacks while dualwielding, especially while dual wielding two handed weapons
I could listen to this narrator talk about anything. Very entertaining.
Thank you for the cat, sir. You're doing Gods work!
Don’t sell everything. You often need animal parts and such for offerings.
he said to sell the trade goods. they have no purpose other than to be sold.
@@aaronroach8218 I know he did yeah. Just a little mention in case some do sell everything without coming across alter offerings.
@@aaronroach8218 Yeah he said trading goods, but those are the things you wanna keep! Trinkets are the stuff you wanna be selling.
Using flaming arrows is worth it because there are certain runes that enhance elemental damage, and the runes stack. I prefer a mixture of poison/flame build bc the added edge gets very significant as you get more powerful runes
Here's a few more you might not know yet:
There's a skill called "Incendiary Powder Trap" that can explode walls for you if you don't want to go looking for oil jars.
Incendiary powder trap is mentioned in the video.
How do we get this video before a “before you buy”??
Let gameranx tell you how to live your life
Where's that?
I was thinking it
hot take: they released this one first by accident, then they realized and Jake had to ddos the entire youtube platform to cover it up.
Because everyone already bought lol
Fyi, regarding falling: you can still die even with the breakfall ability if you fall from a super high cliff. It just prevents damage from moderate heights (2-3 storeys maybe).
Someone needs to introduce Falcon to the word "fewer" and show him how to use it properly.
You could enroll 95% of the entire planet's population into that class...
Not me watching this after completing the game
Me too, I just haven't played since game launch and am finally getting back into it (I've had the steel box of this game and only recently upgraded to an Xbox with a disk drive)
Luckyyyyy😆😭
Same
I've been playing AC Valhalla for years and this video pointed out stuff that I didn't even know. Especially the tip about using shields to attack. Great tips by the way.
The only thing this game doesn't tell you is that it likes to crash more times than Stevie wonder behind the wheel of a car
have you played Cyberpunk 2077? LOL
@@finalfant111 sod that 😂
