That is a great informative video, but not forgetting that there is at least 3 litres of contaminated (dirty)oil left in the torque converter, just saying
Much better if drain and replace ATF filter then flush the ATF in the torque converter through the return hose of the atf cooler so that the new fluid pump in into the torque converter and the old ones will be drain out.
Hi Guys, can you tell me what the service interval is for this particular auto transmission. There are a lot of different ideas out there and even minor differences between some of the Ford workshops. Cheers.
@@standupstraight9691 It turns out that most Ranger owners change the auto trans fluid each time the engine oil is changed. So that's generally about 10000 km or 12 months. That's what I have been doing. If you're towing, or innthe bush with dust, etc, the advice is to do it more often, about 7000 km.
All these ppl saying the torque converter. The converter in these only holds around 2-3 litres. dry refill is 11.9 and drain and refill is 9.0L. Not necessary to do the full flush unless logbook calls for it
I would recommend getting a new one, why go through the whole process with a dirty filter, I know its hectic paying for a R1000 filter but it could save you more at the end.
Heres a commonsense tip. Drill a small hole in the lowest part of the sump. allow oil to drain without it showering it everywhere like you lost a war. remove pan. install aftermarket oil pan drain plug kit. doing this you will be encouraged to change the oil and filter at more regular intervals.
My brother was just quoted $700 for a service and a flush for his ford ranger 2012 Is this legit because I think he’s getting scammed but he won’t listen to me

Can you please mention the parts number of the transmission filter?
Is that fluid level at the end , the cold temp level or running temp?
thanks! will give it a try now

@@PropanePete . I dont think thats necessary for full synthetic, but doesnt hurt any.
@@standupstraight9691 Yeah, it's an overkill but we do a lot of remote area travelling so I just look at it as a bit of insurance.

Incorrect! You also need to take the oil out of the torque converter

good idea, I was wondering why the engineers did not installed a plug there?
@@SamoesADIY . I reckon because they want the owner at the dealer for every little thing.
