    I just did this today, 19 mm vinyl tube from bunnings attached to old filter snout and worked perfectly. Thanks Darren!

    Just finished doing my 2013 BT50 as per this video. Only issue I had was that the pump would not suck fluid up out of the bottle to flush until I elevated the bottle up high and let gravity assist in feeding the fluid up into the intake. After that it worked fine. Box had around 125,000kms on it, no towing, no heavy right foot driving and some off-roading with fastidious maintenance. The fluid looked like crap. really brown. Magnets had a light coating of very fine particles, nothing too bad. Vehicle shifts smoother and is generally better to drive now. If you are thinking of doing this job, don't be scared it's not too difficult. You will need another person for a couple of the steps (starting and shifting while you hold the flush pipe up). Getting the fluid level correct is a bit tricky but go steady and you'll gt there. Thanks again Walkabout Turtle! Cheers!

      Glad it worked for you . I had another person say the pump would not suck up the oil from bottle . Sounds like you overcame that problem nicely. The other thing that will get it to suck is squeeze the bottle and force the oil up into the pump .
      Now your good to go for another 50000 klm or so
      The new oil is probably better quality than original oil

    G'day my Ranger is a 2010 PK 3 Litre DIESEL 4 cyl Automatic trans. 4x4 Ute 4 door done 140,000 ks.
    The transmission access is different to your very good VID.
    The transmission cable is much more elaborate than just a couple bolts
    and I'm having trouble even locating the FILL and dip stick Plug.
    The only thing going for it is it has a Drain plug at the bottom of the pan.
    Nearly all the holding bolts to remove the pan/filter are easy access BUT the 3 at the rear of the Trans. box are 3 bolts that can't be removed easily because there is the main cross bar covering access AND support they trans. box thru to the drive main shaft.
    I'm writing to say maybe you have a mate that has done the project with the model Ive got.?
    I've had diesel utes now for near 60 years BUT these new fancy ones are no damn good for REAL Bush work.
    Should have kept the LandCruiser at least could fix the damn thing. No wonder Ford want $780 to change filter and flush out etc.???
    And it has more wiring and electrical valves etc than 10 houses.
    Thanks for your time.

    Isn’t it so that half of the transmission oil sits in the torque converter so you’ll only need half of the oil capacity to fill up?

    • @walkaboutturtle9102
      @walkaboutturtle9102  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes by flushing it through you increase the amount of new oil to old oil ratio in the trans and end up with a more complete oil change. So there will be a bit of new oil wasted to achieve this .
      I would suggest that you have at least 12 to 15 litres of oil on hand before you start the service.

  • @walkaboutturtle9102

    Is there any easier way to do this without removing the pan? For example the transmission IN/OUT cooler line?

    • @walkaboutturtle9102
      @walkaboutturtle9102  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cooler pipes are hard minted tubes and difficult to tape into. Pan needs to be removed to drain out and to replace filter

    • @walkaboutturtle9102
      @walkaboutturtle9102  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Catherine Young on left side at front of the transmission they are alloy pipes going straight into cooler the only sucsesful way to flush it that I know is how I showed in video or refit pan refill run motor and remove pan and drop oil again

    • @davros0007
      @davros0007 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Catherine Young You’d need to get an old cooler and modify it to plug it in after removing the one in use. There are no lines to tap into, it’s hard up against the side of the box. Not only that, there’s a thermostat at about 80-90°c that needs to open- so it’ll stop flow to the cooler...
