  • Do you want to develop the ability to understand and apply the Old Testament Law?
    In this two part series you will learn;
1- What the Old Testament Law is all about
2- How the OT Law applied to Jews vs. Gentiles
3- Avoiding misapplications and distortions of the Law
4- What impact Jesus had on the OT Law
5- How Christians are supposed to read and apply the OT Law
6- Examples of how New Testament authors applied the OT Law to Christians
7- Principles to get the most out of reading the Pentateuch
Christians need an overall understanding of the Old Testament Law. It is not satisfactory to merely say "we aren't under The Law" and never open it again.

Thank you Mike, you have cleared up so many of my questions. I recently started my walk with God and was having a difficult time understanding Law. I struggled to find someone or bible reading that made it simple and laid out for me to really understand. My brother studies with me and is normally bringing passages to my attention to follow the Law. He claims to follow the law and says that God wants us to. It didn't seem right to me, but it scared me because I did not understand the law. Now I have a better understanding of the law. Thank you so much for your study and making of this video! I don't know how to tell my brother this.

Probably best to ignore what Mike says and let our Messiah be your Teacher.
Eph 4:21 if indeed you have heard Him and were taught by Him, as truth is in יהושע:
Their is only one way to understand ALL Scripture, and that is to obey The Word of Yahuah.
1st point of obedience is to call on His Set apart Name. His Sacred Name Yahuah is the key of Knowledge. Yahuah asked the following question:
Pro 30:4 Who has gone up to the heavens and come down? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is His Name, And what is His Son’s Name, If you know it?
Why did He ask this question? Because His Name was taken away. His Name was changed to Lord and our Messiah's Name to Jesus.
His Name, Yahuah is the key to knowledge.
Luk 11:52 “Woe to you learned in the Torah, because you took away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”
What did the Pharisees take away? The Name of our Messiah Yahusha. Which is the same Name as the Father Yahuah. Yahusha means "Yahuah Saves".
Act 4:18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor to teach in the Name of יהושע.
And because you got rid of the Key of knowledge, you forgot the Torah/Laws of Yahuah. Here is what our Father Yahuah has to say about that:
Hos 4:6 “My people have perished for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being priest for Me. Since you have forgotten the Torah of your Elohim, I also forget your children.
And even though Mike tells you it is important to study the OT(Tanakh) which is true, he also tells you you don't have to obey the Torah/Law of Yahuah.
And our Messiah disagrees with Him.
Joh 14:15 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands.

@@chromebull884 You are wrong. Please give me Scriptural evidence that it is only the 10 commandments that applies for people other than Jews.
Our Messiah was clear, that all commands applies for all true believers.
You do realize that the Torah or laws written by Moses, is the 1st 5 books of the Bible.
Our Messiah said the following about Mosheh’s writings:
Joh 5:46 “For if you believed Mosheh, you would have believed Me, since he wrote about Me.
Joh 5:47 “But if you do not believe his writings, how shall you believe My words?”
Our Father tells us that we must obey His commands, to receive the authority to enter into His Kingdom. No reference to ONLY the 10 commands:
Rev 22:14 “Blessed are those doing His commands, so that the authority shall be theirs unto the tree of life, and to enter through the gates into the city.
When we think about which commands to keep, Scripture says the commands we heard from the beginning (no reference to ONLY the 10 commandments).
2Jn 1:5 And now I ask you, Kuria, not as though I wrote a fresh command to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.
2Jn 1:6 And this is the love, that we walk according to His commands. This is the command, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
Yahusha makes it clear that if you do NOT keep the commands of Mosheh you will die(not referring to only the 10 commandments):
Heb 10:28 Anyone who has disregarded the Torah of Mosheh dies without compassion on the witness of two or three witnesses.
So you are wrong. Our Father never changes, and neither does His Word.
Our Messiah refers to keeping the commands, not any specific set apart commands for the Christian or Jew.
Mat 19:16 And see, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good shall I do to have everlasting life?”
Mat 19:17 And He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One - Elohim. But if you wish to enter into life, guard the commands.”
Here is the problem for the Christian who does not call the Father or Son by His Sacred Name, breaking the 3rd command.
They call Him by the pagan names Lord and Jesus. Breaking the 1st two commands.
You rest on the Sunday, the day of the sun worshipper.
Just for being a Christian you break every command applicable to the Father and the Son.
There is NO GATE for the Christian:
Rev 21:12 and having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve messengers, and names written on them, which are those of the twelve tribes of the children of Yisra’ěl:

      Hello Linda!
I have some questions, i would be happy if you could answer them.
I apologise for my bad English, it is not my first language.
      Here are the questions:
      1. Does the bible say that the earth is 6000 years old?
      2. Is the sabbath a ceremonial law?
      3. Is Matthew 24 about the destruction of the second temple and Jerusalem or about the end times? And why did Jesus say that say: ''Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.'' (Matthew 24:20). Sabbatarians argue that Jesus mentioned the Sabbath in order that they might not sin and break the Sabbath which they believe that Christians are required to keep, is that true?
      4. How can i feel more hungry to pray and thank God?
      5. What is a lie? Do i sin if i say something that is wrong by accident or is it only a sin if i say something that i know is not true with the purpose of deceiving?
Once again, i apologise for my bad english. I hope you could understand.
I would really appreciate if you could answer these questions.
      Have a great day!

This was an amazing lesson. The thing I enjoy the most about reading the Bible is that there's always some new lesson, message or connection made. Before I picked up my Bible and actually decided to read it for myself front to back, I was just taking the word of others about what it said about God and the teachings of Jesus along with all the amazing accounts inside and I realized one day I may not have always gotten the whole story, the whole message and may have even gotten erroneous info from others and I wouldn't do that with any other type of book. I would read it for myself. So I did. Now , Everytime I open my Bible I find something new even if I'm covering the same section for the 10th time. There's so much more to it than just the 66 books of the Bible most people see and take at face value. I feel like I'm treasure hunting and looking for new tidbits every time. Don't be like I was. Read it for yourself and do research on anything you don't understand but read it and read it and read it...

Hey Mike, thanks so much for this teaching.
My wife, Zelie (Zay-lee) studied this a couple of years back, and has also now watched these videos over the last couple of days, so we will be discussing them in depth over the weekend i bet.
When we looked at this before, I was thrilled to find the very nature of God in the Torah... why would I expect anything else huh? It just fits so well.
The major thing i took away before was that... God gives his teaching to make us understand what he expects of us. Even though this was specific to the Jews at the time, the essence of this is what we recognize in the essence of Jesus too, and what he imparts to us in the Sermon on the Mount mainly. This must have been like a moment of Epiphany for the Jews listening to Jesus at that time.
So God wants us to know what it is to be Responsible and Accountable. If we get this bit, we will naturally follow the first two commandments right??
What really helped me with your teaching on this was that I now also get the piece around how this was a Specific thing for the new Nation of Israel to live by, that set them apart from other nations, for God's glory, AND how it is the very teaching to point us toward Christ by recognizing that we CANNOT live this way because we are just not able... So we NEED the Grace of God... So how do I get that... OH!!! Thank you Yeshua.
It will absolutely help me make more sense of what Paul and other Apostles speak of when they make... what used to seem like... Vague references to OT teaching (Torah), that used to have me a bit flummoxed.
Some of my wider family are now also learning from what the Holy Spirit is teaching through you, helping them get a handle on some of their questions and struggles.
Thank you for doing what you do. May the Lord of Hosts continue to bless your valuable ministry.

I see the OT 5 books as a foundation & the rest application, the mistakes & what not to do, history, & what's to come. The NT is the testimony & manifestation of GOD's love for us, extending GOD's love to all of mankind who didn't know HIM! I recently downloaded the 613 & read it line by line. The more I read it the more I fall in love with the FATHER & our MESSIAH. I'm more convinced more than ever that Messiah was the one that created man, talked & walked with Adam & Eve, talk to the prophets of old, talked to Moses in the bush, & gave the Torah to the people of Israel. It all makes sense now.

      Hello!

I was also quite shocked when I found out there was a different order Reformed Protestants have compared to Lutherans. I do know we use that order, not to cut out the commandment against idols but to put idols in the same category as other gods. Worshiping other gods is the same as worshiping idols in place of God. That is what every Lutheran I have every talked to has explained it. We do not excuse idol worship.

@@faithnreason446 Well, you have been lied to.
Iesous is Greek. YAhusha is His Hebrew Name.
The apsotles were of the 12 tribes of Yisrael. In other words they were Hebrews.
See Shaul's/Paul's words about their representation of the 12 tribes:
Act 26:7 to which our twelve tribes, earnestly serving Elohim night and day, expect to attain. Concerning this expectation, O Sovereign Agrippa, I am accused by the Yahuḏim.
The Apostles, where representing the 12 tribes, why? Because salvation is for the 12 tribes of Yisrael. Hence the following Scripture:
Rev 21:12 and having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve messengers, and names written on them, which are those of the twelve tribes of the children of Yisra’ěl:
      No gates for the christians!
Our Messiah Yahusha only came for the lost tribe of the house of Yisrael!
Mat 15:24 And He answering, said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Yisra’ěl.”
Anybody can be saved, but they have to become Yisrael. Yisrael means to "overcome with EL".
Yisrael is not the Jews. Jew is only one tribe. Yisrael is a spiritual nation. And those who are not and want to be saved, has to be engrafted into The Vine. And so become Yisrael, read Rom 11.
Our Father Yahuah has ONLY ONE nation, Yisrael:
Psa 147:19 Declaring His Word to Ya‛aqoḇ, His laws and His right-rulings to Yisra’ěl.
Psa 147:20 He has not done so with any nation; And they have not known His right-rulings! Praise Yah!

Regarding the commandment not to steal. You can derive all of the other commandments from that one. For example, murder is stealing someone's life, adultery is stealing someone's spouse, blasphemy is stealing God's honor and glory, etc. Also, it forbids other things like slavery, which steals someone's freedom and steals them from their family.

I have the same sentiment. It’s not anything against people who genuinely are looking for refuge in a safer country, but I don’t believe it’s right to encourage people to break laws that exist for the sake of order and decency. Imagine the people who apply for legal citizenship and wait their turn, but people “cut the line” and despise their willingness to follow a nation’s guidelines. Is immigration reform needed in places like the US to help the legal method run more smoothly? I’m sure it is. But I don’t think illegal action therefore becomes something we should condone. We should minister to immigrants not just by food and shelter, but by teaching them to do things justly. Just my two cents. 🤷‍♀️

      Here are the questions:
      1. Does the bible say that the earth is 6000 years old?

The term that is used to describe how Abraham got God's commands and law and statues: oral tradition
How did Abraham knew to give sacrifice to Eel, or Yahweh: oral tradition.
The problem with oral tradition is that people usually tend to add more to it.
So it had to stop at some point then God used his inspired written commands: Bible, to replace the oral tradition IMHO.
Now, I think about it in terms of means: how God transmit his message to us? He uses what is easiest methods for us to understand him. Once we grow up and "invent" new methods, he does the same.
He wants his message to be transferred pure and without additions or deletions. In my experience, people tend to add more to it.

Or “where cotton and polyester together” you would say that the law wasn’t meant for you rather the nation of Israel... so to which laws do we apply to our life vs. the ones that were meant for ancient Israel? How can we apply the death penalty and be in agreement with that, yet continue to wear polyester and cotton?

I usually agree with Mike on most things, but I don't on this issue, so to answer your questions,
1)Even under the law they couldn't just stone people, they had to appear before a judge and have 2 or 3 witnesses.
      2) Nothing says you can't where polyester and cotton together. The materials you can't mix are linen and wool. (There's actually some really cool science behind why you shouldn't now that we have modern technology)
      3) My belief is that we are to uphold the law to the best of our ability. There are obviously some things that we cannot do, such as sacrifice, as it would be unlawful to do so without the temple. We also can't enact judgments as we are presumably under a governing system. However, many laws we can keep. The important thing to understand is what laws apply to who, and that's usually pretty clearly stated in the text.

So what is the difference between a Levite priest/high priest and a catholic priest/bishop if both are mediators? And difference between an offering sacrifice that a Levite used to do to an indulgence that a catholic priest would do?

Hello Mike! Thank you for this sermon!

I would like to point out that the problematic verse concerning rape is not Exodus 22:16-17, but a similar verse at the end of Deuteronomy:
    Deuteronomy 22:28 NKJV
“If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out, 29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife because he has humbled her; he shall not be permitted to divorce her all his days."
Perhaps this is addressed in a later video.

  • @e.z.6916
    @e.z.6916 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    A few things:
Actually, the moral law has always existed, as you implied. There can be no punishment without a standard. How could God punish the people of the earth with a flood if they were not bound by moral law?
God said that He gave the Hebrews these laws because they were His people (God's people). Jesus wants us to be "God's people". He says, if you love me, you will obey my commandments.
The moral law stood before Israel was created as a nation. God pulled them out from the rest of humanity to do a good work. That didn't leave the rest of humanity without God's moral law. If there wasn't, we have no need for a Savior.

@39:30: it's crazy to copy and paste the LAW .. agree of course, but using the 10 commandments to refute having a cross or an image (icon) or a statue of the Lord Jesus in the church is exactly that.
In my understanding of the original usage of these items, they are reminder to us as believers that we are in the heavens and these are windows to show us what the heavens look like.
Of course, a lot of traditional Orthodox churches are not doing that literally, but rather use these articles to get "blessings".
