The group I knew of didn’t ignore Galatians or Romans, but completely reinterpreted them. When I reread them for myself, I had to come out of the Hebrew Roots movement. Unfortunately I ended up in the Word of Faith, but now I’m free of that too! Amen.
Praise God. What a wonderful testimony of His faithfulness in sanctifying His people, renewing our minds. Hope you are still strong in the Lord and part of a faithful, Bible-based church :)
I can't believe that I've spent this whole past year and a half getting to know who God is and what Jesus has done and still does for me, without your influence. I am completely grateful for you. I thank your family for giving you up to studies and time and effort. I thank God for filling you with desire to bring your knowledge to the world. I thank God for TH-cam and internet otherwise I would not have found you! The wisdom you exude is truly biblical and in a world like this where feelings are looked at more than truth... we need you Mike. You're running an amazing race. I so so thank God for you. Never stop preaching brother. You're the definition of "calling to ministry". I hope my words encourage you and don't seem boastful except for to boast in God who guides you. Happy to be part of your family and I'm excited at what I can learn from you as you truly fully use whole scripture teachings. Thank you for your service to Christ. And to us. Be blessed brother. Your discipline is something to look up to.
Pastor Mike, I am an avid follower of your teachings. I must confessed that you have enlightened me greatly in your series of understanding the OT particularly on their application of the law to NT believers. May God bless your ministry abundantly. Thank you
I found this sermon so helpful in understanding the way in which Israelites were saved in the Old Testament, more accurately understanding the significance of Jesus' sacrifice, and properly understating the differences between the Old and New Covenants. Thank you!
Salvation is freely given ‘Graciously’ by God through the Blood of Jesus/Yeshua’s Sacrifice. Now that we are saved, how do we walk? The entire Bible instructs us in our walk. Start reading at the beginning and keep reading till the end. Then start over... Remember to let God speak through His Word to you and do not be swayed by the teachings of men... God bless your walk... Shalom...🙏🏻
Gotta say, pastor Mike, this was fire. I have had some friends that have joined a Torah only movement and still wanting to accept Jesus, but what they shared never seemed to jive with me or make all that sense. Although I had gone over so many of these passages on my own, going over them again just reinforces and reminds me that I am under Christ and his grace, not the law. I thank God for the law, but notice that it is not my weight to carry. Thank you for shedding light to things like this and I continue to listen in on all the great teachings that you have. May God continue to bless you and use you for His glory. Amen!
Bro Mike, thank you so much for this thorough study! I was recently challenged on my ability to articulate our freedom from the law and this has helped me to see not simply what we are free from, but what we are free unto! It is all important to point us to Christ! What a Savior!
This was wonderful. I have met a few Christians who do not believe the OT is of no importance. I was always shocked but did not know what to say. I must say this is amazing to help Christians understand rules versus living by the spirit and how GOD knows how to help us with both. You need the entire bible to understand it all.
"He puts His law inside of us and we walk in the spirit"= if we walk in the spirit we keep the law, if the law is inside of us we are not under it, the covenant is new, the law is eternal, the law of love, judgement is by the law, there is no confusion in God. Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Thank you so much for this series. I have come across videos on TH-cam with this movement called Hebrew roots (they don’t openly claim this but say they are followers of Jesus) where we are saved but live under the Torah. It confused me very much and I realize it i was deceived into thinking everything I knew about the blood of Christ was not enough. This and your other videos have really encouraged me to search the scriptures and learn about Gods character through His word . Thank you
Thank you, I have struggled with this subject. I got involved with the Hebrew Roots movement and while I now attend a Bible based church I still struggled with obeying the Law. You have clearly explained this.
Thank you Mike for making these videos. I'm learning so much and my relationship with Jesus is growing deeper. I need to listen again to take notes that I share in my Bible study.
Firstly, I really needed this teaching, great clarification achieved 🎉 Secondly, like you, I get so excited about all of it!! I love the Old Testament too, I just think all of the Bible is amazing and cool and wonderful and get really excited each day about reading it … again! And lastly, thank you for your teaching Mike, such a joy and excellent. I love you dearly, in Christ our Lord. Remain blessed even as you remain in Him. ❤️
Maria, Mike is leading you astray. He literally teaches people that EVIL (profaning the Sabbath) and ABOMINATIONS (eating the flesh of scavengers) are now somehow an acceptable practice for them to do. Think about that. Nehemiah 13:17B NRSV "What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the sabbath day? Leviticus 20:25-26 NRSV (25) You shall therefore make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; you shall not bring abomination on yourselves by animal or by bird or by anything with which the ground teems, which I have set apart for you to hold unclean. (26) You shall be holy to me; for I the LORD am holy, and I have separated you from the other peoples to be mine. Please consider watching some of our videos. We have two (thus far) which directly expose Mike's false teachings. (Video 9 & Video 13) 1 Thessalonians 5:21 NKJV (21) Test all things; hold fast what is good.
This is THE BEST analysis and explanation I have ever heard. It has bothered me that those with whom I most agree (the law is good but we are not under it) usually divide the law arbitrarily into civil, ceremonial, and moral. But the idea here is morals precede the law, the entire law was for national Israel and included moral law, the moral laws are reiterated in the NT, with Sabbath clearly identified in all three cases as not a moral issue. Similar to Mike’s work on the origins of the NT, with the councils clarifying what was already identified as canon, not doing the actual canonizing.
This has been incredibly helpful. Torah people can be very obsessive and illogical. At the same time non Torah people always told me Jesus abolished the law, which is obvious nonsense.
The son is no longer under the temporary supervision of schoolmaster/tutor. When we are saved, we are no longer under the tutor because we have learned our lesson well--we need a saviour. Now that he is no longer a child--he keeps God's commands without the threat of a master/tutor. The analogy breaks down when you say the child grows up, is no longer under the tutor and can now disobey and reject everything his father had him learn!
This is the reason why I left the SDA church plus the interpretation of the scriptures by Ellen White. I believe that only we should read the word of God and it is clear that keeping the Sabbath won’t save us and I doubt that the mark of the beast is Sunday. There is no way that by our own merits we can be saved, that’s why we needed a savior, only through Him we can be perfected. It doesn’t mean that we should ignore the law because faith without works is dead like James stated. Jesus died for our sins, we need to ask for forgiveness and to imitate him, but only the Holy Spirit will lead us in a life of obedience! For it is impossible for us to live perfect lives because of our sinful nature. But through God everything is possible!!!
So what do you think about Revelation chapter 12 in verse 17 “those who keep the commands of God and hold firm to the testimony about Jesus” what is meant here the commands of God?
It's very clear that so many are completely misunderstanding the Bible. The Law still applies...we just aren't saved by following it. Grace is a gift, but if we don't obey God, we're trampling on that gift. We will all still sin and fall short, but that is the reason for the Grace.
Thank you. This is really helping me as I read through the OT. Is there a list of all the scriptural references mentioned in part 2? (specifically the NT references)
God Bless you Mike. I recently stumbled on Apologias videos discussing how we are still under the law and became rather confused. This video has really helped me to stand strong in my conviction that we are no longer under the law.
Same here. Apologia has me in a rabbit hole of fear and self condemnation:( i know the law is good and i want to keep it in my heart but scared me into thinking of it as condemning
This is so good! I’ve been trying to explain to my Joseph Prince loyal friend that salvation has ALWAYS been by faith, not works. Law and Grace are connected, not separable. Yet, Galatians. So we can’t go off either deep end. (Free ‘Grace’ on one end and Hebrew Roots on the other.)
I love the Karate Kid analogy! Brilliant. Listening to both sermons today while I’m getting stuff done in the kitchen. Thanks for putting out such solid teaching, Mike.
Dear Mike, have you heard of Henry Mackintosh's book 'Notes on the Book of Leviticus'? My pastor gave me a copy and it blew me away. His understanding of types in the OT has been a gift in my walk...
Love Gods heart behind the law. Im to focus on walking in the spirit in order to walk in righteousness not focus on living in the old national law intended for the israelites. so i m able to fullfill the law of God after all! The moral truths in this Mosaic law truly reveals Gods heart and shows me that I need of a saviour, the blood of the perfect sacrificial lamb! Now God has given me his heart and i want to live out of that conviction. Praise our God!
I am so glad I came upon these lessons. Im curious his defining distinction of us being "not under the law"; the "not under" is where I stumble. As I understand the work of the HolySpirit, He is helping me live a righteous life; living like Jesus who followed the law- which means I try to avoid sinning. And I know the sin by looking back to the law. So works are happening to bring me through sanctification, though I understand these works inspired by the HS will not save me but are bringing me closer to Love, Faith and Trust in the Lord. Am I understanding this correctly? This is the convicted understanding formed in me since starting my walk with Jesus.
Jesus said you will know his followers because they will bear good fruit. Fruit is a byproduct of a relationship with Christ which you can only have through faith. What you truely believe will be shown in your actions. It becomes the after not the before. The law of Christ is to Love others and we love because He first loved us. Sounds like your on the right track
THE LORD is our righteousness. Therefore we don't have to struggle any more to become a good person because Jesus is IN us. Which also means that whatever good things we do are HIS works, so we have no excuse for boasting! That's only part of it, but helped me a huge amount because I was always striving in my own strength to be good, and despairing when I failed - even after becoming a Christian.
Abraham was saved by faith, but by faith he did something that God accounted as proof of his faith. It's not hard to understand. Anyone can say they love their significant other but real love is not all about promises, it is also about actions. Our actions prove the sincerity of our love.
Hi Mike How do I practically do that “walk in the spirit “ if I look for a way to love a brother or some other person I feel I have to really work at it because I know for sure I am supposed to love but naturally I am just someone who enjoys my own space but I know I am supposed to be welcoming loving but I struggle Let’s just say I love to love from a distance
Mike, good work. I have a question. Since we are saved from the punishment of our sins by Grace through faith and not of works that any man should boast, that Christ was crucified on the tree for our sins, and gives to us freely in His grace forgiveness of our sins and the gift of eternal life, exchanging our sinfulness for his righteousness, and according to your reasoning these sins are not from disobeying the law of Moses. What are these sins or ours from? What are these sins and how do we know what they are if our teacher (the law of Moses) is abolished? To say they are sins committed against the law of God present prior to the law of Moses and then give only one example, i.e. do not eat blood, lacks clarity and seems rather open to confusion. Please provide some clarity as to which of the laws of God can be found in the Bible prior to the law of Moses. Blessings and Godspeed.
When James talks about faith without works, the works God is looking for are described in the law. Jesus said, if you love me keep my commandments. It's not about salvation. It's about understanding the law to better understand how we are to show love to our neighbors. The law is for us to show us how to behave in a Godly way. It is not for others to judge them by. "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 7:21 How do we know the will of God? It's all in the law. People who claim to have a relationship with God but refuse to do his Will are being dishonest. It's not about salvation, it's a response to salvation to want to know how to serve God and our neighbors.
Love Mikes analysis. Here’s an example: Law: infectious disease goes before the priest for diagnosis and quarantine, follow up appointments, and if to be declared unclean. Principle: Quarantine was for the infectious only, checking every 7 days, and then if a long-term infectious disease detected (3rd check up), they (the infectious) were commanded to cover their face and social distance. (Because really, that’s exactly what crying ‘unclean’ would result in.) Also, the Bible was the first to teach hand washing. :)
What would be the principle behind the dietary laws? That’s one aspect of the law that I have a hard time understanding how to apply it. Are there health reasons behind why God said them- and therefore should we all universally follow them? Or were they shadows that pointed to Christ in some way?
Check out David Macht's study of the toxicity of Mosaic Law defined unclean foods. Crazy to see that modern science has shown that the foods that God has commanded us not to eat are more toxic to our bodies!
When you're led by God's Spirit the works come "naturally" :) There is no way to be under the New Covenant (aka the Lordship of Jesus Christ) without visible changes in your life (aka obedience).
So in a sense, trying to get save by both Jesus and the Law is like trying to get saved by following both Jesus and Muhammad? You can’t have two ways to salvation, just as you can’t serve two gods.
ryan white I saw your first comment and was thinking “I really should have covered that in the video, I should make a new video dealing with it!” Hahaha, I’m glad you found it.
What they say, the ones I know, is that the church and Israel are one in the same. They claim anyone who wants to be saved has to follow the law because they are now Israel, God's people, even though born gentiles. They don't think that Israel is just a nation with borders. I'd like to hear you address this. Thank you. I've been enjoying your teachings.
- look into “idiomatic phrases” - look into what the temple was referred to in relation to heaven and earth in Jewish history - consider Luke 16:17 - consider these passages when saying “ALL” has not been accomplished yet: Luke 9:30-31, 12:50, 18:31, 21:22, & John 19:28-30.
I have a question. You mentioned Paul in Corinthians advising that the man in the congregation be disfellowshipped until he repents, then he could be allowed back in. Raised a jw, this is exactly what they do. Does this then give the witnesses a right of passage to disfellowship members for committing sins?
They shouldn't disfellowship members for _committing a sin_ but for _living in sin_ (a permanent or habitual sin, like the example Paul mentions). Doing this does not legitimize the other teachings of YW though. They're still an unbiblical cult.
@@friedrichrubinstein Since watching this & leaving my comment, I’ve done further reading & come to clearer understanding of this scripture. What you say backs up what I came to as well. Your verification helps me & is very timely, so thank you!
Zechariah 14:16 (NKJV) 16 And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. Ezek 45:17 - The Sabbaths (plural, includes the weekly and annual Sabbaths; i.e., Holy Day festivals) and solemnities (moedim) or appointed times (see also v. 9). Ezek 45:21 - Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread Ezek 45:25 - The Feast of Tabernacles Ezek 46:1 - The weekly Sabbath Ezek 46:9 and 11 - solemn or appointed times (moedim) and feasts (Heb. chag meaning “pilgrimage feast, festival, celebration, holy day, time of dancing, cyclical/yearly seasonal event; i.e., the feast days”) Zech 14:16,18,19 - The Feast of Tabernacles God does not change he is the same yesterday - today and tomorrow. Matthew 5:19 Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
My only question is: Romans 8 Where Pual mentions that there is no condemnation for those in Christ WHO DO NOT WALK ACCORDING TO THE FLESH. Does this mean that even if I'm in Christ, but still sin by my flesh (ie. Getting angry, struggle with porn addiction, lust of the mind and heart, not helping someone else when given the opportunity, and many other things that may seem small but in the end are manifest from the flesh) am I condemned?
There is a difference between sinning (the act of committing a sin) and living in sin (sinful lifestyle). A born-again Christian (a saved one) will still stumble from time to time, but he will not have sinful *habits.* Someone once put it like this: _Before we were born-again we sinned on a schedule. After we are born-again sinning is like a train accident._ If there is a habitual sin in your life please ask Jesus to free you from its bondage. 2Tim 2:22 says *"Flee the evil desires of youth"* and we actively need to do that, but only with Jesus' help you will be successful. May God be gracious towards you and give you the necessary strength.
I work with Chinese people, and this is a common question, “can I eat blood tofu. Is this wrong for Christians?” OR “my parents present cooked meat to my dead ancestors and then ask me to eat it. Can I eat it? Or should I refuse?”
The law written on our hearts is *God's will!* What is God's will? You could summarize it with Jesus words: "Love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and love your neighbour as yourself". That's it, that's all. As a Christian who has God's Spirit inside you you learn to pay close attention to your conscience. When you have a bad conscience thinking about doing something, don't do it. If you have a clear conscience thinking about doing something, it's fine to do it. That's how you're being led by the Holy Spirit. And you will notice that it effectively is exactly that: making God the first priority in your life and treating others as you want to be treated yourself. It becomes natural to you.
I would say no. There is no temple anymore and no sacrifices. Also because they don't live under the same Israel as before even if they live in Israel. Todays Israel has other laws. I mean they don't stone homsexuals nor murderers. So if they can't keep most old testament laws why should they keep the few that they can? And as Paul says "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28 There is no difference between a jew and a christian.
Isaiah 46:3-4 Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by Me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am He, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.
In a way,, I think Jesus was wryly showing the "Rich Young Ruler" that he had NOT followed all the commandments from birth: He was guilty of the one that underlay them all: coveting.
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. [Jas 2:21-23]
E. Z. Good question. Abraham was justified by faith. Faith came before he actually walked to That altar to offer is son. That is what makes his faith Alive (in contrast to dead, That is what scripture means faith without works is dead). Hope this clarfies it up for you a little?
Mike, congratulations on reaching 100,000 subscribers! As it serves to prove that the road that leads to destruction is indeed, very broad! *_Matthew _**_7:13_**_-14 NIV "Enter through the narrow gate. @@thatonechristian2487 Maybe you could ask the Messiah the same question! *_Luke _**_12:51_**_ NKJV Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division._* Be that as it may, Mike Winger is a wolf in sheep's clothing. @@NorskeniSverige Are you suggesting those passages support the eating of unclean meats (which the Scriptures call ABOMINABLE), and the profaning of the Sabbath (which the Scriptures call an act of EVIL)? If so, you err. First of all, the phrase at the end of Mark 7:19 is in parentheses for a reason. And, that's because it is extra-Biblical and/or distorted text (depending on the particular translation). And, as for Mark 2:23-28? That passage states that the Messiah is the Supreme Authority (Lord) of the Sabbath. Thus, this means that He knows what is permissible, and what isn't. And, as such, He knew that neither He nor His disciples were actually breaking the Sabbath! Matthew 12:7-8 NIV If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned 👉the innocent👈. (8) For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." And, as for all the warm and fuzzy stuff? Yes, we are to be kind to our brothers, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we are to be just as kind to false teachers, particularly when they are leading one hundred and sixty two thousand people (and growing) into Lawlessness. In fact, I once heard Mike Winger say (paraphrasing) that false teachers are to be silenced, and not tolerated. And, make no mistake about it, Mike Winger himself is a false teacher that supposes that the Messiah is a minister of sin - who normalizes EVIL and ABOMINATIONS! Focusing on your first statement alone. Even at his current state of 378,000 subs, out of 7.9 billion people on the planet currently. Not even adding all the people from Jesus time till now. Since your focus is on the number of 100,000 being broad. You need to take a step back from the tree you face is smashed into and see the full picture. That's not very broad now is it?? 🤷
@@Foxof7heWest Actually, it would seem that you're the one who's got their face smashed into a tree, as my comment had nothing to do with the number of people in the world; but rather, it was about his number of TH-cam subscribers. So, unless you think that there are 7.9 billion subs on YT, you might want to rework your numbers.
That is indeed what it means. As Hebrews 1:1 says: "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son". Jesus is God's final word. Either we accept it or we don't, but God won't say anything else anymore.
Love your teaching Mike but just to be clear, you mean we are no longer under Levitical Law? I have had people try to tell me, that we are no longer bound by the 10 comandments and frankly, I dont think thats what Paul was saying.
ryan white Paul was clearly saying we are not bound by the 10 commandments. The Mosaic Law is not broken into sections. It is completely done away with. Read Romans 7, Hebrews 7 and 8. The New Covenant has new stipulations and the list is found in The New Testament.
JohmJohn Bennett Calvin isn't God. We use the districtions of Law to teach principles and morality, but the authority comes from God as to what is in the Law. The new Law is the Law of Christ or the Royal Law. The 10 commandments are a teaching aid, but are not binding today. 9 of the 10 commandments are similar in The New Covenant, but no. 4 is left out (Sabbath), yet the Sabbath is a good principle to follow. A case can be made for some pre Mosaic practices that are found in Scripture: Sacrifices, Sabbath, Dietary requirements; but none of these things were outlined in The New Testament for a reason. Matthew 1 to Revelation 22 is the New Law.
John Bennett, can you (or anyone else reading this) show me where in scripture where God uses the terms "moral law", "civil law", etc? I can't find any place God makes distinctions between parts of the Torah and other parts......seems He treats it as one thing. If we can not find any clear scriptural passage showing what constitutes moral law vs ceremonial law, how can we make that distinction on our own. It seems pretty important if we are throwing out direct commands from God under the banner of Grace. To be clear, I am not a legalist, but I just cannot find any scriptural basis for mankind to divide and discard parts of God's Law.
John Bennett, you did use the term moral law....doesn't all of the Law represent His sense of morality? (What I mean is, would any part of the Torah go against His morality?) Not sure where you are going with the women taking communion comment.....scripture doesn't say women aren't permitted either. However, scripture DOES say the following (I am paraphrasing for breivity): Psalm 119:160 All your words are true; All of your righteous laws are eternal Ecclesiates 12:13-14 Keeping God's commandments is the duty of ALL mankind (not just Israel) 1John 3:4 Sin is defined as transgression of the law John 7:16 and John 8:28-29 Jesus did not teach something new but only what the Father taught, same as the front of the book. (If you believe in the Trinity, this should not be a controversial thing) John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments 1John 2:3-4 Obeying God's commandments is how we know Him (and love Him, John 14:21), if we say we know God but do not keep His commandments, we are a liar and the truth is not in us I could go on and on.......these verses are definitely in the Bible yet what I do NOT see, is any instruction on how to breakdown the law into sub sets or how to distill a moral teaching out of the law that gets to the essence of what God wants without being held to the specific clear commands God has given. Neither does it give permission to discard any of it. Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. God bless you and have a great day! -Ted
John Bennett, I understand the purpose and importance of inference in reading scripture but I hold any inference I have against the validity of the rest of what scripture plainly states. Jehovah's Witnesses infer that Jesus is really Michael the Archangel but there is enough clear scripture to refute this. Likewise, if you are inferring that we no longer are required to observe the Law as was given, how do you reconcile that position with the vast amount of scripture that says the contrary? I listed a small portion of the scripture that says the law is eternal, applicable to all mankind and sin is defined as the transgression of the law. I assume you do not think sin is permissible even under grace. I don't mean to argue or drag this out but I just see clear scripture arguing for the law and only inference to argue for stopping the oberservance. Could this inference be wrong?
When we are grafted into Jesus Romans 11. We become Israelites. Jesus is the heart of Israel if you are in Christ you are in Israel. You cannot separate the two.. at least according to the Word of God.
@@friedrichrubinstein Yes, it does. What do you think the Olive Tree represents? Jeremiah 11:16 NKJV The LORD called your name, Green Olive Tree, Lovely and of Good Fruit. With the noise of a great tumult He has kindled fire on it, And its branches are broken. Moreover, Ephesians 2 makes it perfectly clear that Gentiles become part of the Commonwealth of Israel. And, oh, there's this little tidbit, as well: Luke 1:33 NKJV And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end." Want to guess who the House of Jacob is? ISRAEL!
What about the 10 commandments? Granted we should still keep them, not to be saved but to honor God. I mean we are not to have other gods before the Lord, not to have any graven images, etc. I'll listen again perhaps I missed it. Or is it walking in the Spirit I am also fulfilling the 10 commandements. I'm thinking the later.
The latter, yes. The law that's "written on our heart" (Jeremiah 31:33; Hebrews 8:10) could be summarized by Jesus' words: "Love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and your neighbour as yourself". Christians don't murder - not because the 10 commandments say so but because it is not loving. Christians don't serve other Gods - not because the 10 commandments say so but because it's not loving God with everything we have. The only command of the 10 that is explicitely retired in the New Testament is the 4th. See Colossians 2:16 and Hebrews chapter 4.
@@friedrichrubinstein well stated. I think alot of the people complaining in the comments is because I don't think that was stated more importantly. I know mike does bring it up but not nearly at the weight to which that carries.
Romans 14 has nothing to do with the Sabbath. The word sabbath is never mentioned in that chapter. When it’s talking about “observing the day” it’s in the context of eating, as seen by the surrounding verses. That would seem to imply that’s it’s referring to fasting, as there was debate about which days to fast on. Also, where are the other witnesses in scripture that say we don’t have to keep the sabbath? There are none. We can not flippantly come to such a conclusion based on one unrelated verse. Lastly, but not least, God NEVER, in the entirety of His word, says “search your own heart and do what you want”. In fact, He rebukes people many times throughout scripture for doing just that. Do we really think that God would go to such great lengths to set the Sabbath apart as Holy, consecrated by Him, use it as a sign between Him and His people, call His people back to it over and over again, and rebuke them when they departed from it, to then use one obscure verse in one book written by one man to say “do what you want”? I think not.
It's really unbelievable how such a cobbled together and widely discredited book could be so influential among so many alternative Christian groups as well as anti-Christian groups.
Agreed and amen!
Ex-Catholic here to say- AMEN. GLORY TO GOD.
I could not have expressed my gratitude any better myself
Pastor Mike, I am an avid follower of your teachings. I must confessed that you have enlightened me greatly in your series of understanding the OT particularly on their application of the law to NT believers. May God bless your ministry abundantly. Thank you
Wonderful teaching Mike. May the Lord Jesus continue to use you for His glory.
Thank you!
This was a blessing! I've had a lot of questions on this issue. Now I can reply to atheist arguments using the old testament with confidence.
Amen!
Sound teaching and clarifying issues that were rather "foggy" to me previously. Thanks Mike!
Wooooww. Never heard the law explained so clearly and I've been a Christian for a while now. This was an awesome teaching!!
Thank you
Amen! Your teaching is such a blessing - thanks Mike, in Christ
This two part series is excellent! God bless you Brother Mike!
Out of the many videos i watched to get a clear understanding, this is THE ONE. i appreciate you mike!
Firstly, I really needed this teaching, great clarification achieved 🎉
Secondly, like you, I get so excited about all of it!!
(Video 9 & Video 13)
1 Thessalonians 5:21 NKJV (21) Test all things; hold fast what is good.
You are my favorite TH-cam pastor
This has been incredibly helpful. Torah people can be very obsessive and illogical. At the same time non Torah people always told me Jesus abolished the law, which is obvious nonsense.
The son is no longer under the temporary supervision of schoolmaster/tutor. When we are saved, we are no longer under the tutor because we have learned our lesson well--we need a saviour. Now that he is no longer a child--he keeps God's commands without the threat of a master/tutor. The analogy breaks down when you say the child grows up, is no longer under the tutor and can now disobey and reject everything his father had him learn!
I LOVE YOU PASTOR MIKE AND TEAM!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
“There is nothing in California law that applies to someone living in Ohio”
Me in Ohio: *breathes sigh of great relief*
Haha great teaching pastor!
Thank you for this great teaching! I grew up in the church and have never had such a clear breakdown of old and new covenant.
@@sophiabergner7191 @LukeD which channel is this apologia? Are you referring to apologia studio? If so which video?
@@gooseneckapologeticsbonk7262 yes I’d like to know this too
This is so good!
Thanks for this. It really help me understand better
Just watched through these and shared with my sister. Thank you Pastor Mike!

Love this intro.
Can you provide context for John 14:15 regarding the Commandments and loving God? I would appreciate it
I love the Karate Kid analogy! Brilliant. Listening to both sermons today while I’m getting stuff done in the kitchen. Thanks for putting out such solid teaching, Mike.
Glad I went back to watch the earlier videos
Thanks Pastor Mike
Sound correct to me.
@@jeannetteparry5587 same Jeannette. It’s so tough. My mind doesn’t compute. Lord settle my heart and thank you for your truth
Abraham was saved by faith, but by faith he did something that God accounted as proof of his faith. It's not hard to understand. Anyone can say they love their significant other but real love is not all about promises, it is also about actions. Our actions prove the sincerity of our love.
Hi Mike
How do I practically do that “walk in the spirit “ if I look for a way to love a brother or some other person I feel I have to really work at it because I know for sure I am supposed to love but naturally I am just someone who enjoys my own space but I know I am supposed to be welcoming loving but I struggle
Let’s just say I love to love from a distance
Great teaching
Thank you Mike! This helps me.
- Matthew 7:21
How do we know the will of God?
I soo appreciate this. (Pt. 1 and Pt.2 both). Thank you!
me too
What would be the principle behind the dietary laws? That’s one aspect of the law that I have a hard time understanding how to apply it. Are there health reasons behind why God said them- and therefore should we all universally follow them? Or were they shadows that pointed to Christ in some way?
Check out David Macht's study of the toxicity of Mosaic Law defined unclean foods. Crazy to see that modern science has shown that the foods that God has commanded us not to eat are more toxic to our bodies!
There is scripture that nothing is clean or unclean because we give thanks to God for it. NT
Great study thank you for sharing!
Phenomenal message
Can we debate this topic in a formal debate?
Excellent ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
Loved the teaching, thank you!
Be careful, Noel, as rats love the poison they're being feed, as well.
What about the verse that says "faith without works is dead"??
When you're led by God's Spirit the works come "naturally" :) There is no way to be under the New Covenant (aka the Lordship of Jesus Christ) without visible changes in your life (aka obedience).
So in a sense, trying to get save by both Jesus and the Law is like trying to get saved by following both Jesus and Muhammad?
You can’t have two ways to salvation, just as you can’t serve two gods.
Mike , if we not understand law does this include the 10 comment??
Thank you. 💜
Nevermind...I should learn to hold my questions until after the video.
ryan white I saw your first comment and was thinking “I really should have covered that in the video, I should make a new video dealing with it!” Hahaha, I’m glad you found it.
The ‘wax on wax off’ analogy was brilliant!!!
I think the feasts and passover should continue, they are pointers to eternal truths, and so didnt lose relevance with the church age.
What do you do with the part you skipped over Mike. "till Heaven and earth pass away"?
- look into “idiomatic phrases”
- look into what the temple was referred to in relation to heaven and earth in Jewish history
- consider Luke 16:17
- consider these passages when saying “ALL” has not been accomplished yet: Luke 9:30-31, 12:50, 18:31, 21:22, & John 19:28-30.
Thank you for this!
What about James 2:14-26?
There's one more movement who's mixing works and grace for salvation. It's SDA seventh day Adventist.
Hey Mike.. I might have missed it.. But... Is there a difference between "gods law" and the "law" God gave to moses at Mount sinai 🤔blessing brother
I learned a lot. Thank you!

Matthew 5:19
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven.
A born-again Christian (a saved one) will still stumble from time to time, but he will not have sinful *habits.*
Someone once put it like this: _Before we were born-again we sinned on a schedule. After we are born-again sinning is like a train accident._
If there is a habitual sin in your life please ask Jesus to free you from its bondage.
Hebrews 2 : 11 "Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made
holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them
brothers.
Hi pastor- I’m wondering what exactly the law written our hearts is?
@@friedrichrubinstein Amen. That’s a beautiful description.
@@brandone.5106 Thanks, sir. God bless you :)
My question is if your a Jewish and become a Christian are you freed from the Law. Should they practice any part of it?
I would say no.
There is no temple anymore and no sacrifices.
Also because they don't live under the same Israel as before even if they live in Israel. Todays Israel has other laws. I mean they don't stone homsexuals nor murderers. So if they can't keep most old testament laws why should they keep the few that they can? And as Paul says "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28
There is no difference between a jew and a christian.
Thank you!!!

Isaiah 46:3-4

even to your old age I am He,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.
In a way,, I think Jesus was wryly showing the "Rich Young Ruler" that he had NOT followed all the commandments from birth: He was guilty of the one that underlay them all: coveting.
Ok so your first lesson on this is on stark contrast with this one
Agree.
Jesus was asked by a Jew. How can I obtain Eternal life? What was Jesus' response?
Just like how the Holy Spirit was upon them or on them and the NT new covenant the Holy Spirit is IN us

Why do you seek division?
@@thatonechristian2487 Maybe you could ask the Messiah the same question! *_Luke _**_12:51_**_ NKJV Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division._* Be that as it may, Mike Winger is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He teaches that what the Scriptures call EVIL (profaning the Sabbath), and an ABOMINATION (eating the flesh of pigs, etc.) is an acceptable practice for you to do.
Thus, I choose to obey my King, when He said:
*_Isaiah 58:1 NKJV "Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins._*
(8) For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
And, as for all the warm and fuzzy stuff?

When it says the fulfillment of the law and the prophets, doesn't that mean there will be no more prophets?
That is indeed what it means. As Hebrews 1:1 says: "In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son".
Jesus is God's final word. Either we accept it or we don't, but God won't say anything else anymore.
Reading the Bible serves the same purpose that the laws did.
Isn't do not murder a law? But we aren't going to go murder because it's sin and it's wrong. This is the confusion for me.
Mike,
Wax on; wax off... wow. (That's a good wow!). Thank you!
Graceful Persistence got a revelation though Mike’s remark here. God is good!!!!
However, scripture DOES say the following (I am paraphrasing for breivity):
Psalm 119:160
All your words are true;
All of your righteous laws are eternal
Ecclesiates 12:13-14
Keeping God's commandments is the duty of ALL mankind (not just Israel)
1John 3:4
Sin is defined as transgression of the law
John 7:16 and John 8:28-29
Jesus did not teach something new but only what the Father taught, same as the front of the book. (If you believe in the Trinity, this should not be a controversial thing)
John 14:15
If you love me, keep my commandments
1John 2:3-4
Obeying God's commandments is how we know Him (and love Him, John 14:21), if we say we know God but do not keep His commandments, we are a liar and the truth is not in us
I could go on and on.......these verses are definitely in the Bible yet what I do NOT see, is any instruction on how to breakdown the law into sub sets or how to distill a moral teaching out of the law that gets to the essence of what God wants without being held to the specific clear commands God has given. Neither does it give permission to discard any of it.
Deuteronomy 4:2
You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Romans 11 doesn't say anywhere that we become Israelites.
And, oh, there's this little tidbit, as well:
Luke 1:33 NKJV And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end."
Want to guess who the House of Jacob is?
ISRAEL!
Yet we don't need to observe the Mosaic Laws anymore.

Is it against the bible to get tattoos?
Have you never read Mike the book>> Dr. Alexander Hislop’s The Two Babylons ?
I have a copy. After 20 years in Jehovah's witnesses I can see where so much junk came from. Even stole art work from Hislop.
It's really unbelievable how such a cobbled together and widely discredited book could be so influential among so many alternative Christian groups as well as anti-Christian groups.
