If you continue the text that he uses, "What goes into a man doesnt defile him" he says that un washed hands has no effect on a man. He was dealing with a pharisaic law of washing hands before eating. He was dealing with the Pharisees making their own laws, not changing the Law.

Exactly! And Jesus continues to express ANGER at those who disobeyed Torah (Mk.7:8-9,13), thus proving that Jesus was NOT canceling anything in Torah.
After all, Jesus requires ALL Torah (Mt.5:19), and that includes Lev. 11!
But it EXCLUDES silly anti-Torah traditions invented by religious people (Mk.7) regarding how one's hands should supposedly be washed.
      Good point!

Bible Guy so do you wear clothes made of two material? Or is it all the same material? That’s a command in Lev. 19. Have you ever trimmed your beard? Or your sideburns or hair? Or a big one, I guess you still sacrifice animals for every sin committed that requires sacrifice? Don’t you see how this defames the cross. Those things are holy according to romans 7. But the definition of Holy is to be set apart. Christ has a new covenant, and a new law. He sets us apart from this world. The only consistent way that the New T’estiment tells us to discern who is of Christ is those that preach the gospel of Jesus. That is the differentiator. We are no longer set apart by circumcision, or sacrificing animals to God in the temple. We don’t send goats out into the wilderness. Jesus has fulfilled the whole law. We have a new law, and new specific commands in Christ. And he even says, loving him entails following these commandments. But to subject ourselves to the old commandments that Jesus himself fulfilled is not only incorrect, it takes away from the Cross. And Paul says that many times if you would just read scripture

I like hearing these talks but with respect and love he tip toes around questions sometimes. As a believer I do Love how he tries to bring clarity and he does a good job. Certain things in regards to this conversation.
Circumsion was not done away with it was redefined expanded on. Jesus clearly said I did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill - Means to complete.
Abolish means or is defined as formally put an end to (a system, practice, or institution
    Colossians 2:11
In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,
Baptism. The Covenant was circumcision of the flesh before but now is of the Spirit through water.
    Not Abolished but New
You can not confuse the 10 Commandments which it still stand today.
    With Moses 610 commands.
Jesus himself said you hearts were harden so Moses allowed you to divorce.... Moses gave the people what they wanted but it was not God's ultimate will. Moses had authority at the time but Jesus defined what God's will is and he claimed Authority. He did not change His Father's Word.
Why would he say vengeance is mine. Vengeance is not required if no Law is broken?
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
By nullify the Comandments you are saying he has no reason that there are no abominations unto the lord. Idoltors will get into heaven. Murderers. Thieves. Ect.
Even after they Repent accept Jesus and are Baptized. They can keep sinning because its of no effect.
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished.
Gods Law are in complete effect as we speak and for the last 2000 years incorporated into our laws.
Murder still a crime a Commandment.
    Stealing still a crime
    A Commandment
    Embezzlement
    Fraud both in effect
    Ect. Also Against another Human
If the world continues to be corrupt like it is now 2020 and do allow a Legal purge like killing Christians. Look at History the Holocaust government sanctioned. Would you kill? Because the Commandments are not in effect and the government sanction it? Think about this. More than likely you won't because you know its wrong but lukewarm "Christians with this Law is not in affect only Grace with no change" probably will kill. For defense or survival.
Domt go off to Far the Popes support for Homosexual acceptance. Why are people resisting if the Law is not in effect?
You can keep all 10 Comandments. You dont want to because you were taught not to.
Unbias believer dont find it difficult. They were never taught to disregard them.
In the past they needed to in order to be saved. Jesus died for us and paid the price . The perfect Lamb not just for Jews but the whole World. We are saved only through Grace and not religious practices that justify Crusades, kkk, Salvery, concentration camps, hewbrew Israelites ect. All do religious practices or other wise man made things and teachings.
Following Commandments is ordained by God and Supported by Jesus. Even the disciples kept them. They taught against the 610 that the Jews try to enforce on to the Greeks.
Law keeping will come easily and is not work when you Love God with all you heart and Your neighbor.
Food laws are for your benefit they will not save you but will help you. You can not truly belive that pork and shellfish, reptiles ect will make you healthier.
Why do you think people are attempting to eat cleaner? health benefits. That come with eating certain food and staying away from others. Where did covid come from? Where do certain diseases come from certain food. Swine flu. Stop and think.
The 2 commands given by Jesus incorporated all the Commandments.
"If you love me keep my Commandments"
    1st and greatest is
LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL MIND AND STRENGTH
    This One covers all 4
    1. “I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have any strange gods before Me.”
    Idoltors, pride, ect
2.“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”
People who curse and use his name
    3. “Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.” This is the one people fail due to this teaching of no Law. Then you Have the Sunday vs Saturday battle.
    “Honor thy father and mother.”
    Don't curse or mistreat parents.
Tell me is it really hard to complete this when you are a true believer? This is easy with the renwal of our minds and hearts.
Then you have LOVE THY BROTHER AS THYSELF
    This covers these 6
    5 “Thou shalt not kill.”
This is not hard many do this everyday who are not even saved.
    6“Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
People struggle but belivers can absolutely avoid this
    7“Thou shalt not steal.”
You dont need to do steal. Most people don't and a true believer would not take what is not his
8“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”
In court you can't do it so believers should find this easy
9“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife"
Adultery lust with eyes like Jesus said
10“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods.”
    Again same as above
Think about it you do most of them without thinking.
He never got rid of it. It doesn't negate what he did. We honor our Father by doing what he ask from the beginning. Just don't do it thinking you will be saved. If we fail we no longer need a lamb to be sacrificed we can pray to God though Jesus. Not a regular man or through religious practice to correct our ways so we don't fail again.
If you break any one of these you break his 2 Comandments
Therefore you dont love him because
"If you love [HIM] me keep [HIS] my commandments"
Just like food laws they are for you benefits. Even if you are Christians but steal kill adultery you will pay the consequences on earth if not God will Judge you. Unless you repent and stop it. If you continue you will be in danger and there will be gnashing of teeth
Last thought. In the future what will distinguish true belivers from lukewarm one? Or which God you serve under a Muslim ruled world? Or under a Coexist movement because they believe in one God or others? Or the Jesus that the world portrays on a cross with gold chains who only brings blessings?
Only one God. The God Of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, The Father of Jesus our Lord and Savior.
His Comandments his Mark that will be placed on your right hand and mind and on our Heart through Jesus.
    Exodus 13:9
And it shall serve as a SIGN to you on your HAND, and as a reminder on your FORHEAD, that the LAW of the Lord may be in your MOUTH; for with a powerful hand the Lord brought you out Egypt.
The Word of God. His word. Jesus
The mark of the beast is known through the world but this is God's Mark. The evidence is overwhelming.
Continue to fight the good fight. But many things were not addressed. You will receive no condemnation for not doing them from me, or eating, or living your life. I do pray you just increase daily in your walk and realize what man made Doctrines are and what God's Word says are two different things. Be Blessed in Jesus name Amen.

The laws were never a means of salvation and Paul and the entire Bible make that clear when it explains that Noah and Abraham were saved due to their faith long before the Laws were introduced. The laws were brought about to set Israel apart from the rest of the world. Now we have the Holy Spirit and the fruits of the Spirit set us apart from the world. If you live by the spirit you are not under the law. Galatians 5:18

I am willing to listen ( Meekness) I hope you have that in you because no matter how much we think we know something, it's always someone out there who might know more, so by saying that we have to know when to rightly divide The word of truth (God) this is extremely important and in order to do so we have to except that Jesus Christ is our Lord and savior and allow the Holy Spirit to take over our flesh so we can live in the Spirit Hallelujah..
You sent me two scriptures talks about the Law of God. ok, Jesus came to fulfill them, From the Mosaic Law, we have MORAL LAW, we also have SACREFISIAL LAW, CEREMONIAL LAW they WAS GIVEN TO MOSES witch is of (WORKS) DIETARY LAW and JUDGEMENTAL LAW also. Now if you remember Moral Law was given to us in our heart in Genesis before the Mosaic Law in Exodus.
Romans 5:13 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Mathew 22:-37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
So you are right when you state these Law.
Buts it's about Moral Law the Law within not of works remember if you rightly devide the word of truth we have to live in the Spirit not the flesh Ephesians 2-9 said not of works lest anyone can boast BASICALLY God don't want you to take credit he gets all the Glory so if we do works to get to him he can't take any credit so the Law of works was fulfilled when he died on the cross.
So my point in all of this is yes the Law but the Law to get to Christ is Moral Law the Law within not the Law of the flesh remember we are a SPIRIT we lives in the BODY and have a SOUL the devil and God is in are war in the earthly realm is fighting for the SOUL to choose the flesh ( devil) or (God) the SPIRIT, WE who is the SOUL ( Mind, will and emotions have to pick one the Spirit or the flesh so the Law of works means to DO SOMETHING TO GET TO HEAVEN Jesus Fulfilled that but the Moral Law of Christ is forever within.

Acts 15 New King James Version (NKJV)
15 And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2 Therefore, when Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem, to the apostles and elders, about this question.
3 So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. 4 And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them. 5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying, “It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”
6 Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter. 7 And when there had been much dispute, Peter rose up and said to them: “Men and brethren, you know that a good while ago God chose among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us, 9 and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved in the same manner as they.”

Yes, according to what Act 15:1 establishes as the context, we do not need to be circumcised to be justified, and that is what the apostles decree. New believers don't need to take on the false gospel of Rabbinic Judaism which demanded circumcision as the means by which a gentile could convert to Judaism. This is NOT what God's Law requires though, in the Law the people were justified by faith , by the covenant that God made with Abraham - just as Paul teaches that we are justified by the covenant that God made with Abraham. It was Rabbinic Judaism that tried to make obedience to their perverted version of the Law given at Mt Sinai the means by which we are justified. we are not to seek to be justified by their law, also simply referred to in the NT as circumcision. In Gal 5:2 Paul talks about this ............""Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. ""
It sounds pretty clear doesn't it. Or does it. Its interesting that bible teachers óften ONLY quote this verse as though it proves that Paul taught against believers getting circumcised in accordance with God's Law, but that is not ALL that Paul said, KEEP READING. Paul continues to clarify what he is teaching us about, it's not about how a justified -by -faith believer is meant to walk out their faith, it's about HOW A PERSON IS JUSTIFIED.
Gal 5:3-4 ""And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.
You have become estranged from Christ, YOU WHO ATTEMPT TO BE JUSTIFIED BY LAW; you have fallen from grace."................ Is it really intelectually honest to say that Paul is teaching that no one should get circumcised ever from proof texting Gal 5:2?

@@bibleguy9857 yes, I can see where you are going, as Paul teaches in Rom 2:13, those who are justified are not just hearers of the Law, they are doers of the Law. I would also agree that true faith is not just a belief in Jesus, but true biblical faith in the Scriptures is defined as obedience to His Word, as Paul also teaches us in Gal, the justified man lives by faith. However, in Gal Paul is teaching us that Rabbimic Judaism had exchanged the biblical definition of faith and the covenant God made with Abraham which is how we are justified for requiring people to get circumcised. Abraham had faith in God before he was circumcised, his circumcision was the SIGN of his faith. We are called to walk in the same steps of faith as Abraham who had faith without being circumcised, BUT Abraham did get circumcised in obedience to YHVH (Rom 4&Gen 26:5) . The justified person is not thumbing their nose at God's Law, the justified person is keeping it, just like Abraham

@@nvdxn Lots of good points, thanks!
"The justified person is not thumbing their nose at God's Law, the justified person is keeping it, just like Abraham"
Well, that's true IF the justified person is also choosing to literally do what Abraham also literally chose to do: ""[Abraham] obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.” (Ge.26:5).
So, yes, we are justified/righteous by faith, immediately....BECAUSE we thus choose to subsequently grow in faithful obedience to ALL God's instructions available to us.
And since the Torah of Moses (Jer.31:33) is given to CHRISTIANS in the New Covenant (cited at Heb.8:10;10:16), we righteous Christians should (like Abraham) choose to grow in faithful obedience to God's Torah available to us....ALL Torah (not just the 10 Commandments...)
"BUT Abraham did get circumcised in obedience to YHVH"
Right...but the ongoing mark of circumcision is INFANT circumcision (Ge. 17:12;Lev.12:3), NOT adult-male-gentile-convert circumcision, and I think this is why Paul requires ALL Torah (2Ti.3:16;1Cor.7;19) while simultaneously opposing adult-male-Gentile-convert circumcision (1Cor.7:19).

well even pastors who studied the bible their whole lives never really understood the law either, they think it's gone and done away. Their Jesus came down to teach them how to break His own laws. Like the SABBATH and Food Laws.
Here's what tho, the sabbath is binding for sure. How can it not be? It's in the 10 commandments!! Jesus even taught us how to keep it exactly. He did it by showing the people how He keeps it. And to do so, He had to oppose the tradition of the religious system in His time.
Because the rabbis of His time destroyed the sabbath and made it a burden for the people instead of it being blessing.
Now the Food Laws. It has nothing to do with salvation. But here consider this! The Food Laws IS GOD'S WISDOM SHARED TO US so that we would know what is and isn't good for our bodies. Take that principle and SEE FOR YOURSELF that God really cares for your well being. Yes, even up to the food you eat. Why wouldn't He share that? There weren't any Scientists or FDAs in those days to tell you that those meats are bad. And get this; would you slaughter and eat a RAT? For food? RATS and PIGS are in the same category by the way; UNCLEAN ANIMALS; UNCLEAN MEATS. And so is dogs meat, cats meat, snakes, and the like (Leviticus 11)
So that said, please rethink your beliefs about things even as simple as food. Because God cares about your wellbeing. Why do u reject Him even in these things. He only wants the best for you.
...and then John Piper is just now adding "pork" in the letter to the corinthians. Even tho it isn't even there. But anyhow, JP can't even explain "If you love me, keep my commandments" either.
"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and they are not burdensome" because we love God, we keep His commandments in our hearts and do them.

Why did Moses tell the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 , that the LORD would raise up to them a prophet like unto him , that would give them all that they desired at Horeb or Mount Sinai ; and if they believe not the words that he would speak in his name , he will require it of them . What did they desire at Horeb or Mount Sinai ? Covenant ; and Jesus said the same thing in John 12:44-50 . When you say Jesus Christ is the end of the law for righteousness , do you fully understand what Jesus Christ came to do ? Jesus Christ is a sin sacrifice of faith ; repenting of your sins with a sorrowful heart like king David did , then believing by keeping his commandments ; which he received from the Father ( Mark 1:14-15 ; which is the gospel ) . If Jesus Christ is a sin sacrifice for the atonement of your sins , then the law you are talking about is also a sin sacrifice for sin . Jesus Christ is the end of the law of animal sacrifice for righteousness ; the sin atonement of the flesh for sin , through the mediator Moses , under the priesthood of Leviticus . The law of animal sacrifice was to clean the flesh , not the heart , because it was not of faith ( Repenting of your sins with a sorrowful heart , then believing by keeping the commandments of your mediator Jesus ; which he received from the Father ) ; but of works ( blood sacrifices and oblations ) . The new covenant is : To be under the mediator Jesus blood , you must live by faith ; that's why he said that he would put his laws into their minds , and write them in their hearts ; Not on two tablets of stone , and written in ink , in the book of the covenant . Moses gave the laws of God to the people on two tablets of stone and written in ink in the book of the covenant , but the children of Israel did not believe it ; with the mediator Jesus , you cannot come under his blood until you start keeping the words of the Father ( 1 John 1:5-7 ) . The new promises are eternal life with the Father and Son ( Revelation 22:14 ) .

I don't know what to believe. It seems like it depends on who I am listening to determines whether we can eat pork. Paul makes it seem like we can eat pork in Romans 14,however, Paul also makes it seem like we shouldn't (sin is breaking the law, and Paul says we shouldn't sin just bc grace abounds). Secondly, everyone has different opinions on what Jesus said. Some say we can eat pork bc of that passage in mark, and others say we can't bc of matthew 5. Lastly, Isaiah 66 prophecies that those who eat unclean animals will be killed. And revelation 18: 2 makes it seem like eating unclean animals is still wrong. Not to mention acts 15 says we don't have to follow the law.
Can someone plz help me understand all of this!!!

Keep it simple, we are saved by grace through faith ALONE in Jesus Christ. The rest is extra. Not to say you shouldn't do these things, but what ever you do don't lose sight of the one who did it all and redeemed you by being the propritiation of all your sins (past, present and future). That being said strive for holiness and sanctification with christ in mind. Read the bible and pray over these things. I myself try not to eat anything listed in leviticus 11, however I am not obnoxious about it in gatherings with other believers, because it may lead them to be confused, or even worse to become legalistic. This race isn't a 100m dash, it's a marathon in which you will fall and seem to get lost. But you will realize that you have entered that race through the narrow gate and ran on the straight way when you put your faith in God to guide you on your way via his Holy Spirit. Just DONT LOSE SIGHT OF CHRIST. the rest will fall in place

I love listening to Pastor John Piper. I respect and find his ministry helpful. With that I completely disagree and want to point out that the scripture text of Mark 15:19 does not say “thus he made all foods clean” that was added by the translators in the ESV bible John uses. It even says it was added on the ESV bible and that it is not what Jesus said. We as Christians must reject that added verse and not use it as a stepping stone to build the doctrine of eating what we please. Keep in mind Jesus speaking to his apostles taught them to keep the law of Moses and to take it to heart the things written by God. Very misleading and Pastor John should be rebuked for that. Let me add the verses in Galatians and Colossians doesn’t command to not obey laws for food. It’s specifically talking about trying to be justified by the law. That the law itself can not save you or you can not enter into God’s kingdom by circumcising yourself. You must trust in the work of Christ on the cross and his resurrection that is the body of Christ. The focus is Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:16 is speaking about let no one judge you for keeping what God has commanded. It later goes on to say that do not follow the teachings and commands of men. Keep in mind the laws in Torah where given to Moses by Almighty Godhead which Jesus was completely apart of not men. Please everyone relook at the verses with a more word for word text like KJV, MEV or NKJV. Don’t forget that the laws given to Moses where given by God. Don’t forget Jesus taught his disciples Torah principles. Don’t forget Paul is addressing a lot of issues going on during that time. God bless and test every spirit!!!

The key to understanding Paul in the NT is to slow down and read what he wrote more carefully. Actually the whole NT needs to be read more carefully. For example in Mark 7 how does the context go from eating bread with unwashed hands to suddenly the Messiah is supposed to be changing the food laws and declaring unclean animals to now be clean??? Obviously He did NOT do that, no where in Mark 7 or Matt 15 does it mention unclean animals, they were not the context of that passage. The irony is that in the 1920's that line about 'declaring all food is clean'got added to Mar 7 in an effort to prove that Jesus declared unclean animals to now be clean, BUT, the author of Mark was NOT a Gentile who calls every slug, snail, and lizard FOOD. In the bible when it comes to what animals God says we can eat , the clean animals that are defined as FOOD are listed in Lev 11, so I don't have any problem with someone inserting that sentence, becasue FOOD IS CLEAN according to Lev 11. Even when you eat it without washing your hands according to THE TRADITION OF THE ELDERS, hand washing is a MAN-MADE MADE UP LAW found in Rabbinic Judaism that is not found in God's Law. If you want to know more about the hand washing in Mark 7 I reccomend this video by an ex-Pharisee th-cam.com/video/7TGGGkLLifc/w-d-xo.html

This is the kind of philosophy about which Paul warned. "Fulfilling" means "fill to overflowing." It does NOT mean "to render void by virtue of accomplishment." He filled up the meaning of the Law by being the Passover Lamb.
Acts 15:19-21 tells the new believers to obey 4 laws and continue to learn more. The 4 laws that must immediately be obeyed are, "abstain from pollutions of idols, fornication, eating strangled animals and eating blood." Abstaining from these 4 things are the minimum requirements needed before continuing to study. Moses is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.
The pollution of idols would include erecting and decorating trees and observing other feasts of pagan gods, even if they were renamed to accommodate Jesus.

NO!!!! Paul in Romans seeks to show that the Law did not make men righteous but instead gave them the knowledge of sin. Therefore there was a need for a new way of righteousness, the way of forgiveness through faith in Jesus’ sacrifice. He wanted his readers to understand that those who accept the sacrifice of Christ are living “under grace” and such would not produce a life of sin (as many thought) but a life of righteousness. Thus in Romans 7:1-6 Paul answers the question, “Shall we live in sin because we are under grace rather than under law?”

      @Stilgar74 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Nathanael Kelly There's a lot in his statements to unpack.. and to be honest because he ultimately 'lands the plane' in the right spot, i'm typically less concerned with the how he got there.. unless there's negative fallout from his statements.. Anyway, I think it's always a bad idea to go to food laws as a way to deal with legalism or still being 'under the law', two different things for a number of reasons. But I digress... ultimately his exposition of Mark 7 in my opinion is faulty in the declaration of all foods being clean. (he ignores the context found in v2) and the fact that if Jesus was declaring non-kosher food (pork) clean there and then, then he would be transgressing the Law. Changes in the food laws have always been per covenant, i.e. vegetarian (Adamic), All Animals (Noahic), Kosher (Moses) etc... and the covenant Jesus instituted was at his death and resurrection. Food was still a reasonable issue for the early church as you can see from Paul's writings but it certainly wasn't a non-issue per the Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15). Which leads me to my main point which is the subtle language of Replacement theology. John Piper seems to paint a purely multi-ethnic view of the Body which is fine unless you miss the part where that Body is 'grafted' into the 'Commonwealth of Israel'. And this is where the damage is done. What to eat and what not to, is an issue not of salvation (which is not by works), but an issue for the Jewish Church if you will, where just as 'circumcision' continues to affirm Jewish identity keeping 'Kosher' also does for many. Let's face it our distinct identity is celebrated in Christ, not hidden. With the phenomenon of gentiles coming to Christ and what that would mean is ultimately why there was a council about it in Acts 15, and what would be right for gentiles to abstain from, including what they should or should not consume. Anyway.. as I said, he ultimately lands the plane on the runway of 'freedom from the law' which is where it should have landed.

      @cryptfire3158 7 ปีที่แล้ว

stilgar74 what you say sounds good!.. Yea, i guess Mr. Piper didn't seem to give a general rule about which laws are still in effect. I'm pretty sure most Christians wouldn't throw out laws such as don't put your kid in the fire, or a man shouldn't sleep with his aunt, or laws such as not accepting gifts if you are a judge, or the law about enemy losing his ox (in our generation it might be a wallet).. you need to return it to him. (these are 4 laws i picked that have no specific reference in new testament), and of course there are many laws we don't follow, such as sacrificing a animal every time we sin, so i wonder what the golden rule is.. which to follow, which to not follow. I suppose whatever laws are covenant related are negated?

The text that states He declared all foods clean is disputed both to meaning, and even authenticity. Kosher was certainly still in effect for Israelites, even Jesus, BEFORE the cross, and in order to be without sin Jesus would keep them. A better text might be Acts 15: 22 to 29.

Everyone in these comments speaks from ignorance and are trying to place people back under bondage. God said through Jeremiah 31:31-34
31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah- 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, [h]though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. 33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their [i]hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. The law still should be obeyed. But the law don't save us, Christ does. Christ is the only one who kept the law, so we're covered in His blood through Faith and passed over from punishment. Jesus didn't come to do away with the law and Paul was addressing those who look to the law for salvation. Remember the law is all about love, for love completes it. Love God and love your neighbors as your self. Like God told Jeremiah, the new covenant is about giving a new heart that's willing to obey. Obey what? God's Will, His laws, His teachings. And His spirit helps with that but only through Faith in Christ and obeying His teachings do we receive the Spirit to help us be like Christ who uphelded the law and died in our place.

@@thomasmarchese2808 in Christ we obey the Torah in newness of spirit, not in oldness of letter.
Walking in newness of spirit doesn't mean we no longer walk as Jesus walked obeying the Torah.
Eze 36:25-27 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YOU WILL KEEP MY JUDGEMENTS AND DO THEM."
A hard stony heart is a heart that does not what to hear the Torah
Zec 7:12 Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets.
In Christ we no longer have the Torah written on hard hearts of stone, instead we desire to obey God and we write the Torah on soft hearts of flesh which do want to obey Him - in the New Covenant Ezekiel tells us God takes away our old stony hearts that do not want to hear or obey His Law, and replaces them with hearts of flesh.
2Co 3:3 "clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart."
Someone who is not obeying Gods Law like Jesus did is neither walking in newness of spirit or in oldness of letter - if they are not even trying to obey the Torah they are just workers of lawlessness - see Matt 7:21-23, there is a bad end in store for workers of lawlessness.
Mat 7:23 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'
To obey the Law in 'oldness of letter' means we considering God's Law to be nothing more than 'a list of rules', instead of understanding what His Law is - His instructions to us to live a righteous life.
Rom 7:7 Without His Law we would not know what sin is, and if we do not know what sin is we do not know what it is we need to stop doing.
People who serve God in 'oldness of letter' use His Law like some sort of rule book, trying to find loopholes in the way it is written so they don't have to obey the Law's they don't want to obey.
In my opinion if you want to know how to serve God in 'oldness of letter', a good example is the person serving in 'oldness of letter' who reads the Law and sees that there is no prohibition against a woman sleeping with a woman, so they come to the conclusion the Law doesn't address lesbianism, therefore lesbianism is not a sin!
Another good example (in my opinion) of using the Torah in 'oldness of letter' is a teaching I have heard from a pastor regarding sodomy.
This teaching says that because it's only a sin in the Law of God if a man to sodomises another man, that means its not a sin for a husband to sodomise his wife, or a wife to sodomise her husband, i.e. they are using the Torah in 'oldness of letter'.
So now that we are new creations in Christ we don't read God's Law like that - truly we can read Ps 119 and identify with everything written in it - we love God, we love the Messiah and we love the Torah.
Truly we understand that we cleanse our ways by obeying God's Word.
Matt 4:4&23:1-4 We fully obey Jesus who told us to 'live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, i.e. we hear and observe all the Law of God that we would hear being read from the Moses seat
So instead of approaching God's Law as though its just 'a list of rules', we understand that the Law is God's instructrions for us (i.e. 'Torah' means 'instruction').
So instead of looking for loop holes so we can get out of obeying certain commandments, because we are 'in Christ', we obey the whole Law in 'newness of spirit'.
So when we read where the Law calls a man sleeping with a man as he would with a woman' an abomination, we understand that also equally applies to a woman sleeping with a woman.
We don't serve Gid in 'newness of spirit' by disregarding and rejecting His Law!
That interpretation contradicts the whole message of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
We serve God and follow Jesus by reading and obeying the Torah in 'newness of letter'.
A good example is Paul, he knew the Law forbids lesbianism - he even mentions it in Rom 1.
Paul wasn't adding to the Law, he was rightly dividing the word of truth and teaching it correctly, he taught the Law of God to the first century believers in 'newness of spirit'.

Wait, when reading the passage referenced here recently the way I saw it was that, yes of course Christ fulfilled the law, we are no longer under/justified by it we are justified by His pure grace through faith which is a gift. The text agrees with that by saying there are people who kept the law and not who are all in the Kingdom, my worry and question comes from Christ saying that those who set aside the least of these laws will be called least in the Kingdom.
    What does that mean?
We're not justified by it, we are justified by grace but if we don't keep the law we will be called least in the Kingdom?
    Any help?

He specifically says,"whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven." 2 verses later Jesus starts talking about things we are to do.

We are justified by TORAH (Rom.2:13) and FAITH (Rom.5:1) and GRACE (Rom.3:24) and WORKS (Jas.2:24) TOGETHER.
Not Torah alone (Gal.5:4-5; sorry misguided Jews!)
Not faith alone (Jas.2:24, sorry Protestant Reformation!)
Not grace alone (sorry John MacArthur!)
Not works alone (sorry "nice" people!)

@Razaiel : It is the Law of God, not Moses. Moses was just the channel through which the laws were conveyed, not the author of them. The only ordinances cancelled were those pertaining to blood sacrifices and the Temple, which Yeshua, later re-named "Jesus" by the Gentiles, fulfioled by His own blood sacrifice on the cross. The other laws pertaining to life are still in relevant.

amen - Deut 4:2 and Jam 2:9-10 inform us that keeping Gods law is all or nothing.
We obey Gods Law by not adding to or taking away from it, and if you choose to keep some of the Law while ignoring other parts of the Law you are guilty of not keeping it all.
This is not hard to understand, so its a curious phenomenon me when people still choose to show partiality in the Law by picking and choosing which laws they are going to keep - they choose to keep only those laws that they label as 'the loving ones' or those they apply the label 'moral' to, and ignore the others, or they say some of them were 'nailed to the cross' or as 'fulfilled by Jesus' and they choose not to obey them, they are cherry picking which ones they want to obey.

@@nvdxn Friend, I prefer not to play with semantics. For what it's worth, I believe that we both know that Plato was using the word somewhat loosely. Only God is *absolutely* good, but the Bible does use "good" when referring to people:
"For he was a 👉good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and many people were added to the Lord."
      - Acts 11:24

"...I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart..."

In the Scriptures having the law written on your heart meant a person learnt the Law and obeyed it - in the first Covenant God commanded His people to write the Law on their hearts and minds - in the new Covenant the Law will be written on our hearts and minds - its the same thing but actually better (i.e. a superior promise as Hebrews says), but for some reason Churchianity thinks having the law written on their heart means they no longer have to familiarize themselves with the written Law
Rom 7:7 alone refutes the doctrine that having the Law written on your heart means you don't need to learn it and obey it. If Paul knew having the law written on his heart meant he just needed to listen to his 'inner voice' why is he saying if he didn't know that the Law said not to covet he wouldn't have known not to covet?

No. The law spoke to sin producing in the believer a defiled conscience. Men laboured under a constant sense of guilt and shame and condemnation. They were never free in their spirit to serve the Living God. The Law resulted in spiritual bondage. (Gal 4:24).
The “old way of the written code”, the old covenant, was a “ministry of death” in that it served to "bring forth fruit unto death". (2Cor 3:7; Rom 7:4-6).
The “new way of the spirit”, the new covenant, was a “ministry of life”(2Cor 3:6). In that it served to "bring forth fruit for God". (Rom 7:6).
The Spirit (of Grace) is Love. The Spirit spoke to the heart. It set free from a “defiled
conscience”; from guilt and condemnation, and spiritual bondage. "For freedom Christ set men free" "to serve the living God" (Gal 5:1; 13; 2:19).
What we see here is a change of status, positionally, before God, as far as God is
concerned. No longer is there a consciousness of "sin-law-death-condemnation" to those in Christ Jesus; now there is a consciousness of "righteousness-grace-life-approval" (2Cor 5:21: Rom 5:18: 8:1-3) And that was truly liberating; setting believers free in the spirit of their minds to serve the Living God with joy and praise.
There is no "sin-consciousness" in Christ thus there is no need for law in Christ.

BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT TELOS THE GREEK WORD FOR END IN THIS TRUTH MEANS GOAL NOT END. SO THE CORRECT TRANSLATION IS HA'MASHIACH IS THE GOAL OF THE TORAH.
At the end of this passage you have the Greek work anomia which means lawlessness or without Torah. Yahusha is telling these people that think they are saved to depart from them because they are disobedient or oblivious to Torah. Lawless.

If Jesus changed the Law, then He wouldn't be the promised prophet promised by YHVH in Deuteronomy 13 and 18. "Suppose a prophet or a dreamer of dreams rises up among you and gives you a sign or wonder, and the sign or wonder he spoke to you comes true, while saying, ‘Let’s follow other gods’-that you have not known, and-‘Let’s serve them!’ You must not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams-for YHVH your God is testing you, to find out whether you love YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul. YHVHyour God you will follow and Him you will fear. His mitzvot you will keep, to His voice you will listen, Him you will serve and to Him you will cling. That prophet or dreamer of dreams must be put to death! For he has spoken falsehood against YHVH your God, who brought you out from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to entice you from the way YHVH your God commanded you to walk. So you will purge the evil from your midst." - Deuteronomy 13:2-6
This is why the leaders in Judaism were trying to test Him constantly and trap Him in breaking the Law. If He started breaking the Law, then they would have had an easy time proving He wasn't the Messiah. We all know how the story ends, they couldn't find any fault in Him at all according to the written Torah.
So again, the question you need to ask yourself is "If Jesus came to change the Father's Ways, could He be the promised Messiah?"

JESUS: Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. *Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men,* as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, *Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.* For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; *Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered:* and many such like things do ye.
Touching the righteousness which is in God's law, the pharisees were not blameless. That may have been their assessment of themselves, but it wasn't and isn't God's.
JESUS: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: *but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.* For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

We as believers are given the Holy Spirit that writes upon us the conviction of sin. That we would not be condemned but rise in Jesus to do the Fathers will given in the law. But much greater than the law to focus on Jesus establishing the law with in our minds. God bless and test every spirit!!!

Unfortunately John is painfully wrong on this with all due respect. He quotes Matthew 5 and then affirms the opposite of what Yashua is saying. “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” So to John, to fulfil means destroy or abolish as other translations put it. The very thing He said he wasn’t doing. Yashua said “till heaven and earth pass away”. Heaven and Earth are still here! Nothing has changed when it comes to God’s Law. Yashua didn’t come to earth to destroy God’s perfect Law.
Mark 7:14 -19 is talking about eating bread without washing your hands. The Pharisees based on the Talmud (their oral law/tradition) would wash their hands ceremonially before every meal. Yashua was attacking their tradition that they held in a higher view than the Word of God. This is not talking about pork. Read a few verses earlier for the context.
John’s “key text” where Jesus declares all foods clean isn’t even in Bibles that are 60 years or older. That text is in parenthesis indicating it was added by the translator at some point.
This view that John and most of Christianity holds (and I myself once held) makes Yashua a false prophet based on Duet 13. In this view He has taken away from God’s Law therefore disqualifying him from being the Messiah.
All of the arguments or scriptures used against keeping God’s Law are taken out of context. Please test these things against scripture.

Mike M I don't see a problem with the arguments of John. Romans 7:1-6 and passages like Galatians 2:16 and the others he refered to must be enough to prove that christians are not supposed to live by the law of moses but by the law of the Spirit. Only those who have the Spirit of God abiding in them can accomplish this (Romans 8:9). And salvation is by grace, through faith in Jesus(Ephesians 2:8) with faith that works through love (Galatians 5:6) and love is the fullfillment of the law of moses (Romans 13:8-10). Blessing I pray God gives you understanding of his Word. Glory to God. Amen

I agree Mike. The Law is not done away with and still has its place in being a doer of the word. Sin is the transgression of the law, so saying there is no longer a law is to say there is no longer sin. There are so many ways of concluding that the law is not done away with. Did Jesus keep the law? Absolutely! Are we not called to do as Jesus did? Yes! Is the Holy Spirit from Almighty God? Would the Spirit of God move a believer to not keep His commandments or to want to obey as much as possible joyfully? Thank God for His commandments!

Jesus kept the Torah perfectly, and we to strive to be like him so why not follow the laws he followed? Fullful in the Hebrew context means " to interpret the Torah correctly" that's what he came to do. The Pharisees had messed up, contorted and added to the Torah so much that Yeshua(Jesus). For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. (Mat 5:18)
Everything is not yet accomplished..not yet fulfilled. There is still his return and the resurrection and the millennial reign and many other things. Those are all prophesied in the law and the prophets and still have to be fulfilled.
This literally occurs in Revelation 21 at the conclusion of the millennial reign. "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first HEAVEN AND THE FIRST EARTH HAD PASSED AWAY, and the sea was no more." (Rev 21:1)
"And he said to me, “IT IS DONE (all is accomplished)! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment."(Rev 21:6).
This is why we see the Torah being kept in the future: Then everyone who survives of all the nations (Gentiles) that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Booths (Zec 14:16).
And why we see the Gentiles' eyes being opened near the last days as they realized that the version of Christianity that their preachers and parents have taught them is a lie and how they come to the realization that they have created their own version of God. "O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit (Jer 16:19)
And why we see the gentiles seeking to learn the Torah: The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:1-3)
This is what the scripture teaches and what Yeshua taught. Every book in the entire bible is in perfect alignment with this message. That is until we get to Paul. Choose Yeshua because Paul cannot save you.

I wonder what these verses mean then. It would be great if you helped me understand.
Mark 7: 6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’
8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”
9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!
10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’
11 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)-
12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother.
13 Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”
Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Deuteronomy 13:6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.
12 If you hear it said about one of the towns the Lord your God is giving you to live in 13 that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods you have not known), 14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. You must destroy it completely,[b] both its people and its livestock. 16 You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. That town is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt, 17 and none of the condemned things[c] are to be found in your hands. Then the Lord will turn from his fierce anger, will show you mercy, and will have compassion on you. He will increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your ancestors- 18 because you obey the Lord your God by keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes.

The more you listen to these top theologians give their best answers for this question, you realize they have very little Biblical evidence backing up their view. They go to Mark 7, Acts 10, Acts 15, Colossians 2, a couple verses in Hebrews, Galatians and Romans and that's about it. The vast amount of Scripture points to the fact that Jesus and all His followers were fully committed to upholding the written Torah and the Prophets. The disciples and Paul didn't see any contradiction with upholding Torah and Grace. David didn't see any contradiction in Trusting in God for his salvation and upholding the entire Torah. Disappointed to see such blatant misapplied scripture from John Piper. Galatians is about works based salvation, not following the law for obedience to Christ. His exegesis of Mathew 5:17-18 is impossible to follow and makes little sense, he fails to even mention the later half of the verse or the context which help determine the meaning. And the Mark 7:19 reference isn’t even scripture. (thus He declared all foods clean) is not part of the text, rather a scribal note in some manuscripts. It also doesn’t fit the context of the passage which is about not adhering to traditions of men (washing hands ritual).

I stopped at the usage of Mark 7 as evidence of not keeping the clean foods law. That passage is totally used out of context, and is in direct contradiction to the same scene in Matthew 15. The context of all that Christ said was because the pharasees condemned Jesus and his disciples for not washing their hands. Nowhere does Christ talk about clean or unclean foods. Do you really think there was pork, or another unclean food at the table where Jesus and his disciples sat to eat? No way. Read both texts, and you'll see that they are the same instance just told from different perspectives. The text that says "In doing so he commanded all meats clean", is an opinion of man, and in direct contradiction to God the Father. If Christ broke that law, he is no more Messiah than the man on the moon, and we are all decieved.

The Solomon Ant why wouldn't he or any of the other disciples eat it if declared it clean? Why then is God coming to judge those who eat pork, and the abomination as noted in Isaiah 65, and 66? It just doesn't add up. And as for God declaring He would do anyway with these laws is completely wrong as well, there does not exist any verses proving that God would do away with what he considers food to us, and what is not.

    • @joshamaya196
      @joshamaya196 5 ปีที่แล้ว

The Solomon Ant another study you should look into is the verse itself, in many Bibles, that passage isn't even included in the translation. Many modern verses has something completely different then what is written. Also think of the ramifications of Jesus going against what the Father said? He is promoting disobedience, if he did this, then He is not Messiah!

    • @joshamaya196
      @joshamaya196 5 ปีที่แล้ว

The Solomon Ant yet another point to consider is what the verse plainly says, "Jesus declared all foods clean". Well of course. It stands to reason that all the animals which God previously declared to be food, is clean. Unclean animals were never to be considered as food to begin with. Again, another reason the phrase makes no sense to the context of the rest of the passage, and is shown to be a translators note, and not scripture.

JESUS BELIEVED GOD COULD NOT TELL US ALL HE WANTED TO, NOT ALL AT ONCE!
Perhaps one of the best ways to sum up the theme of the Bible is, NOT a collection of stories and prophesies and laws given by God to explain EVERYTHING He wanted humanity to understand, all at once...but a slow and grinding process of humanity inching along, often at a snail's pace, to grasp what the Spirit of God was trying to convey, but could only get across in small amounts at a time! Yes, it sure would have been nice if, somehow, humanity could have 1000s of years ago , in one fell swoop, renounced things like slavery!
But if we could go back in time to 1200 BCE (which is a very rough estimate of when Moses received the Law from God, including the Book of Exodus), and talked to SLAVES THEMSELVES and asked, "Don't you think it would be a good idea to get rid of all slavery?" Their answer would likely have been: "Well, sure but then, who would do all the work?"
So what did people like Moses come up with as he was, ever so slowly, tuning in to the Spirit of God?
Well, he laid down some LIMITATIONS to make it not quite as horrible to be a slave!
For example, he gave a law that said nobody was allowed to work one day a week--the Sabbath, and the reason he gave to explain why it was necessary--was because God rested on the 7th day after He made the world and everyone in it.
Now, maybe he could have said, "Thou shalt not make your slaves and beasts of burden work more than 6 days in a row, because that's exploitation and they deserve better treatment!" But slave owners would have probably balked and said, "What? They're my property, and I'll do with them whatever I please!" But by making EVERYONE have to take a day off, on the basis of some ethereal logic like God needed to rest as well, apparently, seemed more palatable!
In any case, the slaves and work animals could, at least, finally catch a break!
The same holds true for Exodus 21:20-21. Prior to this restriction, slaves could be beaten to death if a master so desired, but by creating a law decreeing a master could be fined for beating a slave to death, deterred them from beating them TOO MUCH!
Similarly, Exodus 21:26-27 decrees a slave was to be freed if, during a beating, s/he lost an eye or a tooth, again, with the idea that it was still OK to beat them...just don't aim for the head!
Now, did these laws that put some modest restraints on how slaves were to be treated God's way of saying slavery, itself, was OK? Of course not! (Though the Antebellum slave-holders of the southern US states certainly used these and other bible passages to justify their wicked behavior).
But as with other laws Moses gave, Jesus' viewpoint was that Mosaic Law was a stop-gap measure, "given for the hardness of men's hearts" (Matthew 19:8). These measures, given the horrific conditions and expectations of the time and place in history they were issued, represented some progress, if only measured in baby steps in the right direction, but not the end-all-and-be-all of what God was really after!
To put it another way, the overall theme of the Bible is one story or law or prophesy after the other, in which, God is not waiting for humanity to rise up to where He is, before connecting with us, but a constant effort on his part to reach down to where we are, no matter how disgustingly low humans had sunk in the way we treat one another...to meet us where we are, not where we should be, and then, lift us up from there at the quickest (or least slow) pace as possible!

Question ? When God gave Peter the dream with all the unclean animals and told him to rise and eat…. Why did Peter say I shall not because I have never eaten anything unclean….. why would he say that if Jesus, who already died and rose, did away with all unclean foods ?

This question wasn't fully answered regarding the Old Testament and sensitively enough as it relates to the marriage situation.
The Lord YHWH would have stated clean and unclean meats in Genesis 7:2,3 talking of clean and unclean meats even before Moses and then expanded on this in Leviticus 11:1-23 and clean vs unclean in vs 24-47 now to say because of the blood of Christ these meats are now clean is more supposition than fact based.
What would have caused God to make the distinction between clean and unclean in the first instance. The reference was made to circumcision this has been stated as no longer binding.
Mans and animal original diet was "meat" being seed and herb which is Gen. 1:29,30 Flesh was allowed but with limitations, only now science has caught up with the "why" not to.
I also am concerned as this question was raised and desire more clarity on the question raised in light of my scriptural observation.

Circumcision is the sign of the covenant of Faith with Abraham. It's a sign of the miraculous seed of God's promises.
In many cases when Paul talks about "circumcision" in his letters, he is most likely using that term as shorthand for going through the process of converting to the rules of Judaism. Judaism had made up a bunch on new rules in their "Oral Torah" which is wholeheartedly different than the Written Torah of the Bible. It's similar to how you would need to follow all the rules to convert to Catholicism or else they wouldn't count you as one of them. Those rules aren't in the Bible. They are made up.
If you throw out circumcision, you throw out the sign of the covenant of faith with Abraham.
“Thus says the Lord GOD: No foreigner, uncircumcised in heart and flesh, of all the foreigners who are among the people of Israel, shall enter my sanctuary." - Ezekiel 44:9

Yeshua never declared all meats clean in Mark 7:19. This phrase in modern translation is in (). It is added by translators. The original manuscripts definetly dont say it and the old english kjv translation also doesnt include this. Yeshua had just told the Pharisees that they were rejecting YHWHs commands to keep their own tradition. They were calling food eatin with unwashin hads unclean which was never commandef by YHWH. Besides this is 100% jewish context here. The Pharisees would not have been talking about biblical unclean foods because to all of them this wasnt even an option. These laws on food have been since creation. At least Noah knew about it.

Yes, this is often times one of the biggest challenges we face in modern society.
More in more in this time that we live, we see Ezekiel 37 coming to life. The nation of Israel is restored in 1948. More Jews are coming to know their Messiah as the Spirit of God brings them to life from the spiritual valley in Ezekiel 37 in which they are slain and they realize everything we have faced as Jews in terms of persecution was to turn us away from Yeshua by spiritual enemies as well as physical ones. But now we are victorious and there is nothing that can take us away from the opportunity of eternal life with God and we can stand up and fight against this stigma.
More so contemporary Christians teach the law is done away with. This is not true. It has been fulfilled.
Gentiles are not required to partake in physical circumcision, sacrifices, or specifically act as priests as they do in the torah, but everything else still applies and the torah is still a way of life for all mankind.
The Sabbath still applies and the original holidays of God are still intact.
Easter is a pagan holliday, so is Christmass. 1 Corinthians 10 objects to celebrating these holidays.
We should follow what is written in the bible.

well even pastors (like JP) who studied the bible their whole lives never really understood the law either, they think it's gone and done away. Their Jesus came down to teach them how to break His own laws. Like the SABBATH and Food Laws.
Here's what tho, the sabbath is binding for sure. How can it not be? It's in the 10 commandments!! Jesus even taught us how to keep it exactly. Because the rabbis of His time destroyed the sabbath and made it a burden for the people instead of being blessing.
Now the Food Laws. It has nothing to do with salvation. But here consider this! The Food Laws IS GOD'S WISDOM SHARED TO US so that we would know what is and isn't good for our bodies. Take that principle and SEE FOR YOURSELF that God really cares for your well being. Yes, even up to the food you eat.
...and then John Piper is just now adding "pork" in the letter to the corinthians. Even tho it isn't even there. But anyhow, JP can't even explain "If you love me, keep my commandments" either.
"For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and they are not burdensome" because we love God, we keep His commandments in our hearts and do them.

@@domrob3600 That's the point, Dom Rob! We must NOT arbitrarily pick-and-choose. We're not playing HOMETOWN CHRISTIAN BUFFET games here! We must grow in faithful obedience to ALL properly observable Torah portions, while in our present diaspora. Sure, many Levitical laws are presently unobservable while in diaspora; but don't worry! We WILL again obey 100% (Dt.30:1-8) when the Messiah restores all Levitical sacrifices (Mal.3:4). And, the mixed-fabric law is generally not too hard to obey while in diaspora, so let's grow in obedience to that one too! The STONING laws are generally NOT observable, because we are presently banished throughout the world, living in countries whose civil laws forbid stoning. So, we'll probably need to wait until we return to inherit the land (Dt.30:1-8) when we will again obey 100% of all Torah (including the stoning laws) at that future time. CONCLUSION: Do what you can....knowing that even Moses promised us that 100% obedience will not again occur until AFTER we return to inherit the land promised to us (Dt.30:1-8). blessings in the Messiah...

This video is at least six years old. I hope John has modified his position on eating pork. It is as unclean today as it was when the law was given. John complicates a very basic principle, that by the works of the law no one is justified. 3: 11 That is the essence of the whole letter. It is not the commandment but sin that causes death for the law and the commandment is holy, righteous and good. (Rom. 7:12) The law is spiritual, vs 14. To walk in the spirit is to shine the light of The Word before your feet. Man shall live be EVERY word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Mt.4:4 If we love God we will keep his commandments 1Jn. 5:3. Certainly more could be said on this topic. Explore the scriptures and settle it for yourself. Blessings to you.

John requires ALL Torah of Moses (1Jn.5:3).
Peter even explicitly applies Lev. 11 to you! (1Pe.1:16).

      FAITH is of TORAH (Mt.23:23;Ps.119:30,86,138;Dt.32:20).
JUSTIFICATION is by TORAH (Rom.2:13) and FAITH (Rom.5:1) TOGETHER.
      Not Torah alone (Gal.5:4-5).

Noah was a Gentile long before the Law given at Sinai, and he knew the differences between clean and unclean animals back then before there were any Jews, and many Christian trachets refer to what Noah kept before God as the "Noachide laws," which if that indeed applies to only Gentiles, then his treatment and acknowledgement of clean and unclean animals should apply to Gentiles today. The unclean animals were boarded (by God) in TWOS simply for reproduction as scavenging animals needed to ecologically clean the planet of rotting detritus and carcasses.
The clean animals were boarded in SEVEN PAIRS i.e. 14 animals of each species, as these were needed in larger numbers as they were the animals permitted by God for mankind to eat, and Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the LORD as a non-Christian, but He was obedient to God.

Unless you were party to that Covenant, the 10 Commandments - or those that followed on the next 11 pages of my Bible - are NOT binding on you. That being said, do not think that the moral teachings (ie: Do not kill) contained therein should be disregarded.

I challenge anyone to look up the Greek word used in his "key text" from Mark 7:19 translated to "foods". Then, look up the other word in Greek for "foods" and you will see that one word is generic nourishment, food (fish food, plant food, people food, any food) but that isnt what we find in this "key text". We find #1033 "broma" which is specifically meats that are allowed by the Law... in otherwords... clean meats. (Unclean meats were NEVER called food) So.... how, exactly, does Jesus declare clean food to be lean?? Especially when the context of the conversation isnt even about clean vs unclean meats. Its about eating bread with unwashed hands. Again... you have to understand who He is talking to and what they believed. They believed that demons rested on everything and without the ceremonial washing, one would consume the demons and it would cause illness and sin in their body. Jesus is telling them thats silly, that's not where sin comes from. It doesn't enter your body, its a choice you make.
Dont take my word for it. Research it in the Greek. Find out for yourself. Tgis doctrine is really bad, y'all.

Not quite sure why 'broma' means 'meats allowed by the law'. The Authorised Version translates it 'meat' because in archaic english, the word 'meat' can mean 'food of any kind'. Vine's expository dictionary of NT words links its etymology to the verb for eating, so that 'broma' is simply that which is eaten (i.e. food). The word is used in 1 Corinthians 10:3 of 'spiritual food' which is surely a reference to manna, not to animal meat.

HEARS THE TRUTH WITH EVIDENCE FROM THE BIBLE. (I HATE OPINIONS. AND PARROTS THAT ONLY SAY WHAT OTHERS SAY)
Correction. The bible does not say Father, Son, holy spirit. it says 1 John 5:7 (For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.) So it uses WORD not son. Who taught you this defiled information?
Father= creator , Word= Law (which is the commandment) , Holy Ghost= Wisdom, Gods wife (which dwells with prudence)
Genesis 1:3 (“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”)
1 John 1:5 (This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.)
John 1:1-5 (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.)
1 John 2:7 (Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the WORD which ye have heard from the beginning.)
Proverbs 8:12 (I Wisdom dwell with prudence)
Proverbs 8:22-- read on (The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
      )
WISDOM IS A SHE ( THE WIFE OF GOD)
Proverbs 4:1-6 (Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Jesus said i'm the WAY, TRUTH and LIFE, no man will get through his fathers gates but BY him. Not through him. The way= (psalms 18:30) The Truth (psalms 19:7) The Life= (Proverbs 3:1-2).
Jesus beheld the light. which is God. Which is his Law. Which is wisdom and life. And the only way to inherit the kingdom was to follow him. Thats why he always said follow me.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      THE WIFE OF THE FATHER
As you read above how God made light. That light was wisdom. Which is his woman. Most think its the sun. But no. The sun and moon are created later. in Genesis 1:16 (And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.)
So when he made her, WISDOM, from him like he made Eve from Adam. Since they're from men they are part of men therefore they are one. She was there (Proverbs 8:22)
So thats who God was talking to in the beginning. Genesis 1:26-28(And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; [[[[[[Male and Female created he them]]]]].)
And to answer your Daniel 7 There are multiple sons of God. (Genesis 6:2) and (Job 1:6 ). Even the devil is the son of God which hasn't been cast down yet from heaven. If that was so we wouldn't be here talking today due to it only being in revelation which is the Coming of the Son of God. Everyone thinks the devil is Lucifer, but that name is only mentioned once in the bible, and that (being?) fell from heaven. He was not cast out. Plus it says he's the SON of the Morning. And in the last chapter of Revelations it says that Jesus is the Morning star. But anyway thats another conversation. PEACE

zaraki roy Mark 13:27 parallels with Daniel 7 prophesy when Jesus calls himself "The Son of Man," which is a title from Daniel 7. Jesus uses this deity title to refer to himself continually throughout all 4 gospels. Jesus also declares through the Gospel of John, that he is the 'Good Shepherd', "The Vine", "The Resurrection and the Life", "The Branch", as well as others. He also declares himself to be the great "I AM" which is perhaps my favourite declaration of Jesus being God, which the Pharisees knew and tried to kill him for saying such things (they knew scripture and knew what he was saying). Look at Exodus 3:14, where God reveals his name I AM. Jesus says to the Pharisees... "Before Moses was, I am!." (John 5:58). There you have a declaration of who Jesus is, eternal and there before creation.
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD" (caps added). Later on in chapter 1... "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us." (Jesus is the Word).
John 20:28, what does Thomas state to Jesus? "My Lord and my God!" He then proceeds to worship Jesus which would have been stopped were Jesus not actually God say if he were an angel because whenever someone has tried to worship an angel they have been immediately told off and heavily rebuked. Jesus however goes on to affirm it.
"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
      Philippians 2:5‭-‬11 NIV
I pray that you find the truth that Jesus alone provides brother. God bless.
Best advice is to read these verses and look at the relevant passages in Isaiah and Jeremiah and Exodus and Daniel and others where Jesus is referring to himself from and I think you will find what you need. Let the Holy Spirit bind God's Word to your heart as Jesus promises.
Its not so much to answer an academic question but let the scriptural Biblical reality of Jesus Christ infuse into your very bones! I went through all these last year after speaking to a Muslim man that i met jn the street who did not want a civil conversation but just wanted to shout, and I am so much better for it, and God is more glorified in me because of it.
