Struggling so bad with maths as I’m top set for sciences and English but set 4 for maths, this is something I didn’t know how to improve but I will use ur tips and update after my results. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for this!!! I just had my first set of year 11 mock exams in November it had been hard to revise but when I watched this video and understood the tips I tried all of them and they worked thank you so much for these tips 🎉 I subscribed
so glad yt reccomending ur channel im 100% gunna be watching ur videos and trying your tips! current y11 hoping for high grades! I'm almost done my mocks so we will see how far I have to go!
This is great video, expect for the ai section. Using ai is terrible. It's basically what you said for the highliters and re-reading notes, you're not learning it's passive, It's lazy, ai is bad for the environment along with how are you going to do ace a mock If you have an ai generate something that's not always reliable.
Yes I totally understand this viewpoint because it limits your own creativity - although, I do believe AI has a place within education but shouldn’t be misused
The specification point is one I have never really looked at. But the way you explain the purpose of it has completely changed my mind. Seriously Dylan, thank you. keep helping people man!
Thank you so so much for this ❤❤ which 12 gcses did u do? and if you did history, latin, classics or computing, do u have any advice on those subjects??
Thank you alot for this video, if you dont mind me asking did you get specification-based flashcards online for anki (and if so can you please send a link :)) ) or do you advise making your own?
Thank you dylan Keep going this helped me alot Love the work your doing Did you take computer science OCR If so how were you able to manage with the hard python coding
so dylan, i have a chem, bio, and maths unit tests next week. Do i make notes or jus read and understand concepts from the textbooks and do practisce exam questions?
I would say go straight from understanding (videos - notes may take too long) to memorising (Anki - if you have enough time) then application (practice questions) 🙏🏾
incredibly helpful, incredibly concise and straight to the point, if you don't mind me asking, could you post your flashcards for the individual sciences, thank you.
When writing a story or essay using past papers from pmt , how am i supposed to mark it because the mark scheme is very confusing to use ? Also thank you soo much for these tips!!
My best advice would be asking teachers in your English department to mark them because it is quite hard to mark accurately and the mark schemes are not good for English
Yo nice vid can you pls help me with 2 things : 1. maths I have bad problem-solving skills how do you recommend that I fix it (I've done practice questions on topics didn't help) 2. Science how do u recommend i get better at specifically biology because i struggle with the exam questions
1. For GCSE most of the time the tricks that the exam boards use are similar so I recommend watching videos of tricky questions then memorising how they word the problem solving questions so you know what to do each time - although I still believe more question will improve your problem solving 2. Yes for biology unfortunately it is largely memorisation so first using active recall and spaced repetition to memorise then applying to questions should help you improve 👍🏾
Basically, when I planned my essays I made paragraphs that answered the question but used quotes and analysis that I would easily twist to answer another question - more will be explained in a video specifically about English lit
I have 2 weeks until my mocks and do u think i can acheive a grade 5 or higher in combined science if i constantly revise beacuse for my year 10 mocks i did so bad and got a 3-3
did you use/make flashcards for English lit? if yes is it worth it and how'd u do it? also do you have advise oh how to study for the comparative poetry question and unseen poetry questions? tyvm
For English Lit I created essay plans that were very adaptable for themes that hadn’t come up yet (I will address this more in the ‘How to get a 9 in video’ - I did the same for Poetry and for unseen I practiced spotting literary device and analysis on the spot - I will share more in a specific English lit video 🙏🏾
For English lit we have 1 poem left to do but we did anthology over a long period of time last year in year 10 since the start we forgotten many poems. We also did 1 poem a week for 2-3 weeks. We have done no practice of unseen poetry and comparison we just learnt each poem separately. I’m definitely not ready for the poetry part of lit paper 2. Do u have any tips
Ye I would say definitely do some learning out side of school - include learning which themes you can apply and analyse across many different poems - to practice comparative analysis (I will include this in and English literature video) - Go over these plans every once in a while before you begin revising more seriously later in the year
@@DylanBoatengSame here. I’ve been making most of the Flashcards sets on quizlet but what is the difference between quizlet and Anki? Also it will be very helpful for you to make a video about this + the English language 40/40 mark question.
Essentially in your plans you should use quotes and analysis that are transferable for many essays - I will shed more light on this in the English Video
Im really struggling with English Language as its just hard for me to think of things to write for example 8 markers, this is my 2nd year doing it as i was 1 mark away from a 4 when i took it. Is there any advise you could give to me also your advise for the rest of the subjects were solid!!
For English Language I advise you improve your creative/transactional writing because it amounts to a large proportion of the whole GCSE - I will be making a video on this 🙏🏾
could you give some advice for people who didnt pay much attention in year 10, because im pretty much learning all my content rn in year 11, my mocks are in december, im basically learning everything by myself but i dont know what i need to learn and how to learn it also if you could give more tips for math im at a grade 5 rn but i wanna get a 7 maybe ☺
So I think first focus on learning all the content through videos for science and for English summaries on TH-cam - if you don’t know what to learn a good place to start for science is PMT as it has a list of all topics covered - for maths I think you should do a past paper to see where you are definitely at - then when you get a question wrong - cover multiple of them on maths genie till you have that topic covered - then do this for all the topics you get wrong - then attempt another paper and repeat - there is still plenty of time tho 🙏🏾
in my opinion digital flashcards are better for on the go, however once my school banned phones I made physical flashcards so i could use them even in school. Generally I believe digital ones are better but honestly its just preference!
Pleasee PLEASEE i need the English language and literature help(AQA ), it's my only bad gradee and i can't seem to fix that 😭😭 Also did you do computer science gcse
Yes I wrote a creative writing that followed a structure and topic that I could adapt for many essay topics - and I asked my teacher to mark this then I improved and memorised - in the exam a slightly similar topic came up so I tweaked it and wrote it out - hope this helps 🙏🏾
Don’t worry - mocks are usually a little harder anyway because they a packed into a short period of time - also I did way worse on my mocks than my real exam because under pressure my body decided to lock in - Best thing to do is pick up exactly why you lost all the marks on each of your papers and highlight your weaknesses to work on - subscribing would be a good choice too if you haven’t already 🙏🏾
I would say definitely learn all the vocab from the spec like I showed in the video - Make specific answers for all the possible writing questions that could come up - (I’ll give more tips in a future video)
Just got accused of cheating on my triple chemistry exam for getting 98/100. Built different💪. Cannot do English language for the life of me though
