Uni's probably best for using a library because you can check in at midnight if you want and work into the night when it's really nice and quiet, which I loved to do Cold testing - pretty good advice also. Remember it's the stuff you DON'T know which you need to revise, not the stuff you're really comfortable at already (which is what a lot of people do revise, because they like getting stuff right) History revision - I found this the hardest GCSE myself (did get an A* mind) and I did make notes on everything so maybe that's why I found it so tricky. You should be clever here definitely. I would add though that making your notes funny can help you to revise also, I used to write stuff in mine like "And then Hitler said fuck off, I'm going to invade Poland anyway" which is obviously crude but it helps get the info stuck in your head Maths revision - 100% agree past papers are the way to go, maths was my personal favourite subject and I never felt too worried by them. Some of the harder GCSE questions even go viral for how difficult they are so yeah, good idea to practice them specifically. Jack Brown is excellent for A-Level Maths and without him I'd have had no chance Geography I didn't do so I can't comment on. Languages revision - yeah I was rubbish at listening also. I remember a listening exam for French where they asked about the word "pantalons" and I heard it right but still didn't remember it was "trousers" despite the word "pant" literally being in there. Howler. For learning vocabulary, use mental images to connect the French word to the English meaning, the funnier you can make the mental image then the easier you will remember it. English revision - I barely remember revising for English to be honest though I'm sure I did - there are some great websites out there which break down exactly the points you can make about the books you have covered, the themes and characters advice is very solid Science revision - up there with history for me as most difficult to revise for, this is again just a list of fact remembering. Lots of physics, biology and chemistry is just "this is how the world works and there's no real reason why, it just is" so you do have to work hard for sure. Measurements they definitely trip you up all the time. CGP books good for science especially imo. Secret sheets - absolutely exactly what I did at uni. Two sheets, get to the exam hall early and sit outside reading and re-reading what's on those papers. As long as those two sheets contain stuff you already have in your long-term memory, this gives a boost to short-term memory too First 15 minutes planning - I didn't spend that long on it but I certainly did do this a few times in brief. In fact naughtily sometimes I even wrote on the front of the paper before the exam starts because you can be there for 5-10 minutes before it begins. Even just writing down initials of things you need to remember which can then be scribbled out at the end of the exam can help you. BONUS TIP! Not mentioned here, as it does border on cheating, but if they allow you to use a scientific calculator, use the memory function in the calculator to store key numbers (useful for A-Level psychology I found, stuff like number of people taking part in a study etc) - of course you still need to know what those numbers refer to however you won't be worrying about if they are exactly correct. In fact most scientific calculators you can store up to 10 numbers in the memory using the hex feature so work out how to do that. You aren't meant to have a calculator with a memory function and if you do, they are supposed to clear it, but they never did this once whilst I was at school and if there's an undetectable advantage you can gain, you must take it. Good video all in all!

I was doing well from yr 7 to yr10 with motivation and revising. Every year I was getting smarter and I was being told by teachers and my classmates, but my mental health crashed because I let something happened in my personal life which affected my physical health too. I’m recovering now but my mind hasn’t. I still am absolutely horrible at remembering things now (literally a few minutes ago). My mind is so overloaded with thoughts that are unhelpful and when I actually try to capture my thoughts, it’s like I was thinking of nothing and I can’t even express what I just thought. My motivation to revise comes every now and then but when I’m about to start, I start stressing out and complicating too many things (e.g. how I’m going to set out my notes, how I’m going to remember what I wrote or revised, how I’m gonna set out the whole revision process, how I’m gonna learn everything I want to in the time I left myself, how I need to complete my routine before starting - or else I won’t do it) which makes me end up stopping and breaking down tbh cuz I know that time is running out. My mocks are literally in one week I think. I feel so hopeless and I really miss how I was able to understand and revise before. I haven’t watched the video yet, but I hope this will help, really. Props to you if it does 💪. If not, props to you for those it does work for 👍.

One incredibly useful technique that’s taught in my school for history, source questions specifically, is CNOP. Context, Nature, Origin, Purpose. I’ve found that if you cite the context, nature, origin and purpose of the source in your answer, it’s a surefire way to get marks.

If anyone needs help with the "how useful are the sources" 8 marker for medicine through time, this is how I answer them I write two "JCOP" paragraphs, one about each source. Each paragraph looks like this: 1. JUDGEMENT - "source A is useful for... because..." 2. CONTENT - detail from the source - "the source states that / the source explains that / the source describes how..." 3. your OWN KNOWLEDGE to back up the source - "this is accurate as I know that..." 4. PROVENANCE - this is how reliable the source is. "the provenance of the source makes it useful because it was written by a soldier on the western front from his personal experiences / the provenance of the source makes it useful because it was published in a medical journal" something like this overall this takes 4, maybe 5 sentences. You don't need a ton of stuff for this question. Just stick to the structure. Judgement, Content from source, Own knowledge, Provenance history questions are mostly about following structures. if you learn the key facts and information, and learn the structure of each exam question, you'll be fine
@@kaidoa1539 12 marker: 3 paragraphs, no intro or conclusion needed each paragraph should give one reason for the thing stated in the question. for example, if the question was "explain why there were improvements in medical knowledge in the years 1500-1700", your first paragraph could be about Thomas Sydenham or the printing press, for example. for each paragraph I would structure it like this. clear opening sentence - "one reason for... was..." then just add to this - include any relevant knowledge you have about this point, and link it back to the question at the end. eg if I use the earlier example, and I was writing about the printing press, I'd say something like "one reason for improvements in medical knowledge in the years 1500-1700 was the more widespread use of the printing press." then I'd talk about how the printing press allowed information to spread more easily and scientists could build on each others' theories. then I'd finish with a sentence that links my point back to the question - eg "since the printing press allowed scientists to share their findings and disprove old theories, medical knowledge improved greatly in this period." so clear opening sentence, then include any relevant knowledge, then link back to question. each paragraph does NOT have to be super long. write 3 of these paragraphs and that's all you need. remember the question will give you two bullet points, I'd recommend using these as the basis of your first 2 paragraphs - you don't HAVE to use the bullet points but they're available to help you. 16 marker: this will normally be phrased something like "... was the most important reason for... in the years..." and will then ask how far you agree eg "the role of the church was the most important reason why there was little change in care and treatment 1250-1500. how far do you agree?" for a 16 marker you need 3 paragraphs again, but if you have time it can also be a good idea to include an intro and conclusion, as it makes your argument seem more well rounded and thought out. each paragraph follows a similar structure to the 12 marker. it makes sense to start with the thing in the question, so for this example, something to do with the Church. I'd probably go with the fact that the church controlled medical training. make an opening sentence, include relevant knowledge, link back to question - the same as in the 12 marker. but for the 16 marker, make sure the final sentence of each paragraph makes a JUDGEMENT. "I can therefore largely / somewhat agree / disagree with the question, because..." for example with the Church question, I would end my first paragraph like this: "I can therefore largely agree with the question, because the Church's control of medical training held back medical progress during this period." I hope this all made sense, I was kind of rambling!! if you need me to clarify anything or send example answers just let me know. also, the best way to get used to the structure of questions is simply to practise! it isn't the most fun form of revision but it's the most useful because it forces you to think back to what you know. write as many past paper questions as you can, and ask your teacher to mark them. once you get the hang of it you'll soon get into a rhythm and then you'll be able to smash the exams!

The most important ones to pass is science, English and maths. The rest do what you will, cause I’m not too nervous about GCSEs and neither should you! Just increases stress. (Coming from a guy barely scraping 4’s, no revision, 2 of my 4 options being coursework 💀)
i reckon you’ll be able to pass everything if you get some revision down now since you’re already only a couple grades off a 4 in your weaker subjects. id bang out seneca for most subjects especially english then cognito for your sciences. good luck in may!!
i would also seriously recommend perfecting grammar for language because it will really push you to those higher marks ,anyone can mesmerise certain objects and phrases in their language but if you are not using it in the right grammatically it will cost u marks !!!!

@@knightcatz5533 yes. AQA, doing Macbeth and ACC. When you do the exam you're given 2 booklets. One with the texts and one for answers. Hi, not creator but got a 9 in my RS mocks (w/ 90% across two papers), I do edexcel. For me I do use flashcards unlike in the video because for most of the course I would summarize my notes onto quizlets for topic tests, so I strongly suggest using any past notes/summaries you have and to not make new notes from scratch unless you're missing any notes for topics. RS is sort of similar to geography and history as its an essay subject with a ton of information, but I think you can cut down the info you acc need to revise + remember vs the stuff you can deduce just from common sense. For RS the MOST IMPORTANT thing I would say is to remember viewpoints/opinions, especially religious ones. So for every single spec point/issue you cover, you should know around 2-3 different opinions for different groups and be able to back it up with evidence and arguments. e.g. for abortion, if you have learnt Christianity you should know Catholic views and Anglican/Methodist/Church of England views and also differing non-religious views, along with relevant bible quotes/philosophical teachings and explain them. If you are presenting the Catholic view on abortion you need to state it, state the argument (eg Catholics believe in sanctity of life), give some evidence (in Genesis 1 humans are said to be made in "imago dei") and explain the evidence (imago dei means in the image of God, which shows that human life is special, holy and a gift from God thus must be respected and should not be destroyed). You need ro do this in any 6 or 10 markers. For short questions the important thing is to be very specific and answer the question exactly - you do not need to give a lot of info (literally 3/4 words are enough for some Qs) but they need to be highly specific, often scientific or exact religious terms.

Geography I didn't do so I can't comment on.
English revision - I barely remember revising for English to be honest though I'm sure I did - there are some great websites out there which break down exactly the points you can make about the books you have covered, the themes and characters advice is very solid
Science revision - up there with history for me as most difficult to revise for, this is again just a list of fact remembering.
As long as those two sheets contain stuff you already have in your long-term memory, this gives a boost to short-term memory too
First 15 minutes planning - I didn't spend that long on it but I certainly did do this a few times in brief.

This is useful for my english. Im practically on grade 8s and 9s on every subject except english which im on a 7
I was doing well from yr 7 to yr10 with motivation and revising.

Thank goodness I've found this video, I think I've still got time to improve... only negative 5 years until my GCSEs wish me luck!
If anyone needs help with the "how useful are the sources" 8 marker for medicine through time, this is how I answer them
I write two "JCOP" paragraphs, one about each source. Each paragraph looks like this:
1. JUDGEMENT - "source A is useful for... because..."
2. CONTENT - detail from the source - "the source states that / the source explains that / the source describes how..."
3. your OWN KNOWLEDGE to back up the source - "this is accurate as I know that..."
4. PROVENANCE - this is how reliable the source is. "the provenance of the source makes it useful because it was written by a soldier on the western front from his personal experiences / the provenance of the source makes it useful because it was published in a medical journal" something like this
overall this takes 4, maybe 5 sentences. You don't need a ton of stuff for this question. Just stick to the structure. Judgement, Content from source, Own knowledge, Provenance
history questions are mostly about following structures. if you learn the key facts and information, and learn the structure of each exam question, you'll be fine
Have you got structure for the 12 and 16 markers?
@@kaidoa1539
12 marker:
3 paragraphs, no intro or conclusion needed
each paragraph should give one reason for the thing stated in the question. for example, if the question was "explain why there were improvements in medical knowledge in the years 1500-1700", your first paragraph could be about Thomas Sydenham or the printing press, for example.
for each paragraph I would structure it like this. clear opening sentence - "one reason for... was..."
then just add to this - include any relevant knowledge you have about this point, and link it back to the question at the end.
eg if I use the earlier example, and I was writing about the printing press, I'd say something like "one reason for improvements in medical knowledge in the years 1500-1700 was the more widespread use of the printing press." then I'd talk about how the printing press allowed information to spread more easily and scientists could build on each others' theories. then I'd finish with a sentence that links my point back to the question - eg "since the printing press allowed scientists to share their findings and disprove old theories, medical knowledge improved greatly in this period."
so clear opening sentence, then include any relevant knowledge, then link back to question. each paragraph does NOT have to be super long.
write 3 of these paragraphs and that's all you need. remember the question will give you two bullet points, I'd recommend using these as the basis of your first 2 paragraphs - you don't HAVE to use the bullet points but they're available to help you.
16 marker:
this will normally be phrased something like "... was the most important reason for... in the years..." and will then ask how far you agree
eg "the role of the church was the most important reason why there was little change in care and treatment 1250-1500. how far do you agree?"
for a 16 marker you need 3 paragraphs again, but if you have time it can also be a good idea to include an intro and conclusion, as it makes your argument seem more well rounded and thought out. each paragraph follows a similar structure to the 12 marker.
it makes sense to start with the thing in the question, so for this example, something to do with the Church. I'd probably go with the fact that the church controlled medical training.
make an opening sentence, include relevant knowledge, link back to question - the same as in the 12 marker.
but for the 16 marker, make sure the final sentence of each paragraph makes a JUDGEMENT. "I can therefore largely / somewhat agree / disagree with the question, because..."
for example with the Church question, I would end my first paragraph like this: "I can therefore largely agree with the question, because the Church's control of medical training held back medical progress during this period."
I hope this all made sense, I was kind of rambling!! if you need me to clarify anything or send example answers just let me know.
also, the best way to get used to the structure of questions is simply to practise! it isn't the most fun form of revision but it's the most useful because it forces you to think back to what you know.
write as many past paper questions as you can, and ask your teacher to mark them. once you get the hang of it you'll soon get into a rhythm and then you'll be able to smash the exams!
First exam tomorrow, starting my revision today

i honestly never understood why they make us do math in the science papers... like bro theres already 3 math papers testing if i can do that, i dont need my science grades being dragged down by math, they are bad enough as they are
Because it's an important part of physics. Its know the maths but being able to apply it to a scientific setting.
@@SatireRON it might be an important part of physics, but if you aren’t interested in physics or science AT ALL (like me) then I see no point of it. Never have I ever seen someone have to answer a maths science question in their day to day life it’s pointless if u dont want to be a scientist which MOST people don’t

Trying to get all 6s minimum in science. I’m going to get a grade 9 with the math exam if I put in the work, I know this because I got a Grade 8 in the mock exam. The most important ones to pass is science, English and maths. The rest do what you will, cause I’m not too nervous about GCSEs and neither should you! Just increases stress. (Coming from a guy barely scraping 4’s, no revision, 2 of my 4 options being coursework 💀)

Are you aqa tommorow
@@knightcatz5533 yes. AQA, doing Macbeth and ACC. When you do the exam you're given 2 booklets. One with the texts and one for answers. You can write your plan on paper, and clearly mark at the top saying what you're writing on the paper is a plan. When you have finished the exam, you print your typed work, and it is stapled to the answer booklet. It will be just the same as everybody else's, where they have a bit for planning and a bigger bit for writing their actual answers, but instead for you it will just be typed.
