  • I have converted a iwata hp-cs airbrush which comes with a .35mm needle to a .5 needle for airbrush more heavy mediums and a larger spray pattern.

    Thanks for that demo. Love when someone cuts through all the useless information supposed to fire your imagination. Glad I found your video.

    Thanks for posting this video. I was able to find a .5 needle and a .5 nozzle. It has been hard to find info as to whether I needed a different Nozzle cap. I wish It was clearly printed on the package or online vendor descriptions. Th HP-CS is a pretty common airbrush but it's hard to find info online as to what is compatible. Most descriptions just refer to other models abbreviations but don't list HP-CS. I'm pretty new to airbrushing and it seems like most parts sellers list their parts description for experts to read and understand exactly what you need or what is compatible with each model. Your video is clear thorough and easily understood by an amateur like me

    The only thing I do differently than this video is needle placement with in the airbrush itself, which 99.9% of the time is when I clean it.
    I always put the needle back in butt end first through the front, then nozzle, etc. If the butt end on the needle gets ever so slight dinged no big deal. If the front end of the needle gets dinged - it IS a big deal which means going to my airbrush needle sharpener or in the worst case a new needle altogether. Just some thoughts.

    Thanks CSM first. Luckily to find this only vid as I took a lot of time to find out if 0.5 nozzle cap is required. Knowing that argument to have the 0.5 nozzle cap for conversion still exists, I tested with my own HP-CS with new 0.5 nozzle and 0.5 needle but without changing of the original nozzle cap. I found the 0.5 converted airbrush works very well with fast, heavy and even spraying by using AV paints, although I have no idea how good if a 0.5 nozzle cap is added. I have reverted to 0.35 setting as the original setting has been working very well under AV paints.

    Man you just saved me a lot of money, time and frustration. Trying to get pearlized to spray correctly through the 0.35 was a pain. This is going to work out just fine for me. Thank you

    I appreciate the common sense approach. Your info was really timely as I want to change my needle to a 0.50mm and this cetainly will do the trick. Good stuff! Cheers, Cork

      Follow-up: Your info is right on the money. I did as you instructed, and it took me less than 5 minutes to replace the .35 with the .50mm. Good, no b.s. information! Take note all you how-to gurus. This man knows what he is about!

    Amazing video!!
    Can I ask you if there are any problems with the "Needle Packing Screw Set"? Isn't it too tight?
    This video is enlightening!

    For my application, very large O scale model trains, we shoot a lot of area. I use an HP-BCS siphon bottle with the .5. I added an adjustable tail piece from the custom micron series, a huge plus, giving me pre-set max spray for the finer areas. I have been thinking about another Iwata in .3 for close in work.. Probably don't need siphon for detail work... but would not mind duplicating my existing brush and just converting it to .3..

      Which tail piece fit the BCS from a micron?

    Nice video, interesting conversion 👍✌️😊
    Looks like Iwata have improved their nozzles to a one piece which is easier to clean?🤔 The small tips were a 'mare for aging eyes and hands.🙄😄

    i use a revolution 0.5 for pretty much everything and i use angelus paints . if you are using thicker paints like angelus , 0.5 is the way to go.

    Thanks, I just bought the .5 needle and nozzle, but I wasn’t sure if I talked nozzle just popped off or not. Have a few cars to paint and it’s a pain with the .35 needle.

      The nozzle just sticks in there. Just wiggle it around a bit( without the needle in it)

    My question is, why would Iwata sell a 0.5 $40+ nozzle cap if you only need a .5 needle and .5 nozzle to convert. I noticed your Eclipse doesn't have the slots on back cover, could it be your Eclipse hp-cs is older, hence No need for .5 nozzle cap? Just wondering. Thanks Alot for video, you might have saved me some money here, Much Appreciated

  • @realstrikelureco
    @realstrikelureco 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Well you got 2 out of the 3 parts right. You also need the nozzle cap for a .5
    So you might want to update your video.

    • @CustomScaleModels
      @CustomScaleModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don’t need the nozzle cap to convert it to a 0.5 as the iwata HP-CS uses the same cap as the iwata HP-BCS which uses the 0.5 needle

    • @realstrikelureco
      @realstrikelureco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CustomScaleModels actually you're wrong. I was sponsored by Iwata and built custom airbrushes. The nozzle tip is larger in a .5 than a .35 a .35 nozzle cap will have a line etched around it. A .5 is smooth. If you don't need it why would Iwata make two different parts. Its idiots like you that cause more problems for people because you'd rather be relevant than right. You don't get the right atomization using the wrong nozzle cap knucklehead.

    • @CustomScaleModels
      @CustomScaleModels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the HP-CS comes with a 0.35 needle and the BCS which is the bottom feed one comes with the 0.5 needle but some people do convert them to from the .35 to the .3 for finer lines. If I’m not mistaken the only iwata airbrushes that come with the .5 needle is the BCS, BCR and the CR besides the neo for iwata
