Pausing a 60 fps video to evaluate "ghosting" on a 120+ Hz monitor makes no sense at all. You will *always* capture more than one monitor frame in 1 camera frame, so you'll always see "ghosting". Do the UFO ghosting test and do proper pursuit photography on it (correct camera settings, camera following the ufos, the sync track forming clear lines). Only then you'll have a reasonable way to evaluate ghosting/overdrive on a monitor.

It's hard to pass up a good deal, it's not as if this monitor were utterly useless, it just didn't perform well compared to others at a high price. But for less money, I think I can get over some of those downfalls.
I encountered one bug when the image on the monitor was blurry for some reason and pixels were visible on the windows taskbar icons. I solved this problem by adjusting the monitor settings: Menu - Support - Reset All. ✅
What 1440p monitor would you recommend for PC gaming and ps5? I saw this one was on sale at Best Buy for $300, but if there is something better you recommend I’ll take your opinion. Thanks.
i just picked one up for 279 at best buy im mainly goin to use it for a desk top monitor and the occasional xbox and ps5 gaming when i want a smaller screen when im not using my LG C2 oled 48 inch
Here in Aus the 32” version of this is on sale for $550 aud. For context, the LG 32850 is $749-849. Would you say this is the pick at those prices? The M32Q you can’t get here. There’s one other monitor which is the LG 32750. It’s similar to the 850 minus the Nano panel with everything else the same from what I can see. The 750 is going for around $440, so again it is cheaper. Any recs based on those prices?
HP was solid, but isn't that a TN monitor? If it isn't then my bad. This monitor really isn't my top recommended 1440p, something like the Gigabyte M32Q is...among others.
I subscribed! that's an awesome review! one of the best I saw. Can you give me an advice? between this samsung but the 32 inch version flat and the LG 32GP850 which one is better for you? thanks
Between this and the LG, I would go LG. Although I do like the Samsung Odyssey lineup and would choose a lot of their monitors over LG. But in this specific instance, LG.
Is this monitor good for playing games on ps5? I like story mode games but also play some COD with friends. I keep hearing stuff about it not having a 2.1 hdmi.
You earned yourself a sub ! Really great content.. having a hard time choosing between this - the Lenovo lenovo g27q20 Or the viewsonic xg2705k .. any recommendations ?
ViewSonic for sure! Thanks for the sub btw, glad I could provide some good content for you. I say ViewSonic, because I have always had a good experience with their monitors. Lenovo hasn't always impressed me. But that's just my opinion.
hi there i'm having weird problem with my odyssey it's the same version as the one you described and love it but whenever i close my pc now and come back later 1hr+ i turn my pc on and the monitor doesn't respond at all sometime i notice screen glow as if it react to my pc but nothing really appear then it turn back black and i'm forced to unplug and repplug it's power cable to get the "samsung + odyssey" message on screen then my windows screen is on do you have any suggestion on how i can fix this i have looked everywhere for solution but turn it to manufacture my unit have great color no dead pixel or anything even glow isn't noticeable "for me at least"
I am sure there is a setting that really does the monitor justice. I keep seeing people praise this monitor, I don't think it is bad. It just didn't stand out in any particular way imo.
bought it, and No, you cant, and they dont seem to have any function. the higher-end Samsung monitors seem to emit RGB from them, but not on this monitor
I sure can't. The monitor settings are controlled on the monitor for adaptive sync. Turn it off and you should be able to calibrate further. I did not get adaptive sync on my testing either.
Hey man would appreciate if you responded. Does this Monitor run smooth at 1440p gaming on PS5. I heard the screen turns white sometimes. But can be resolved with turning adaptive sync off
It did fine for me. It wasn't next level 1440p, but for the price held up well. I didn't notice or experience the screen flicker, but it sounds like there is a solution.
Hello, thanks for your review. I was about to buy the Asus vg27aq1a until I found this one. The price is almost the same. Which one would be ideal for gaming? Thank you.
Anyone has a site where it shows which one is better out of the G5 series. I get discounts so I wanna know which one is better Odyssey G50A, G52A, G55A, G55T, or G51C ? I'm thinking of getting a G51C bc I found good deals but idk which one of these are ordered by low budget to premium based on the naming
I just bought this monitor and I have no clue what hdr and that stuff means but Ik I’m using it in hdr but I wanna change it so I can unlock the 165hz how can I fix this? Do I just plug In a different cable or something??
I would need some more details. I am assuming you are on PC? HDR is set by the computer not the monitor. So whether it is console or PC, that is where it is controlled. Console of course can't do 165hz, which is why I assume PC. So just make sure the windows HDR settings are turned off and you will be able to turn on the 165hz.
Does it have native g-sync I mean does it contain that Nvidia chip inside it ? Or it is free sync premium only ? Cause my friend has that monitor and when he run the g-sync on it , it says adaptive sync and inside Nvidia control panel it says g-sync compatible not capable. That's why I am asking

Dont know about the last 2 but this monitor is so much better than the LG 27GP83b-b I had before. My ultra gear had burn in after only a couple hours of use and the colors looked really washed out and cheap. The Samsung has great vibrant clear and crisp display no problems with burn in and gets pretty bright in my opinion. @@BainCustom Cleaned it up for you.. I'm talking about the gameplay recording that you're playing and pausing with Media Player. Not the youtube video of the review itself. By your logic, you're saying that youtube compressed your video that you're playing during the review before you put the review on youtube? my previous comments still apply though that recorded gameplay will not give you a realistic output on a monitors output because you're either capturing rendered content with a separate display method (catpure card) or recording rendered content that isn't displayed through the monitor (OBS). You may as well record the gameplay on any monitor, the recording will be the same (with same computer or computer with similar hardware).
Samsung should stick with VA technology the g7 still better than most IPS just make a flat VA . Really what I mean is they should keep developing their VAs but nothing wrong with IPS options.
Should I get the Samsung Odyssey G5 G50A or the GIGABYTE G27Q I would like to spend 600 euros for 2 monitors or can you recommend another monitor that should have 27 inch WQHD and 144hz or more?
My opinion would be to get the Gigabyte. Samsung is good too, but Gigabyte has been really putting out some solid monitors the last few years. You should also check out LG and Acer, solid choices there.
Why do you have adaptive sync off? the main reason this monitor is awesome you have off. No wonder the gameplay looks slomo and shitty. And this is an lg panel, so yea. You tell other to get that but this one is better, and it accepts a 4k signal @ 60hz when adaptive is off.. but on 1440p keep it on.
It is on when I am gaming. You have to turn the adaptive sync option to open up all of the calibration menus on the monitor, then you turn it back on and it locks the options.
Yeah that's pretty intense. It could be the monitor disconnecting and reconnecting trying to turn on hdr. That seems to be a common flaw among many monitors.
That would make some sense. The Gsync and Freesync range wouldn't be as good and would cause more input delay. Could explain some of the motion issues I was experiencing.

Thank you. What is the model of that one? I thought it was the same as the G3, the newest G3 that is. Anyways, thanks for the cheer. I will have some new vids up soon.
I between this and the benq 2710q
I've had the 2780q for years however the back light bleed is horrible.
Would love some insights and input
When you activate gsync/freesybc the monitor locks in response times. I don't know what speed it picks but you can't change the overdrive settings.
Samsung is kind of notorious for that. I have had that same experience with other monitors of their.
Bought this for 250€ today on sale. I am currently rocking an old benq xl, but had to get a new monitor because it only has dvi input and my new pc doesn’t have a dvi output anymore. It might not be the best of its class but at the price I got it I think it’s a good deal.
It's hard to pass up a good deal, it's not as if this monitor were utterly useless, it just didn't perform well compared to others at a high price. But for less money, I think I can get over some of those downfalls.
i got mine for 137usd on a 37% of sale where i live
Can you give some settings for colour calibration for sdr and hdr please?
I encountered one bug when the image on the monitor was blurry for some reason and pixels were visible on the windows taskbar icons.
I solved this problem by adjusting the monitor settings: Menu - Support - Reset All. ✅
What 1440p monitor would you recommend for PC gaming and ps5? I saw this one was on sale at Best Buy for $300, but if there is something better you recommend I’ll take your opinion. Thanks.
th-cam.com/video/NNCHEM59TU8/w-d-xo.html - This is probably one I would recommend over the Samsung.
i just picked one up for 279 at best buy im mainly goin to use it for a desk top monitor and the occasional xbox and ps5 gaming when i want a smaller screen when im not using my LG C2 oled 48 inch
Yeah that C2 is rock solid. Can't go wrong there. But for 280 this samsung does fill a nice little gap for a multi use monitor. Thanks for the input!
How you enjoy it for ps5? The 1440 and 120 good?
I'm still looking for a good 1440p 144hz monitor I mainly play valorant but I also play survival games. So I want to make the switch to 1440p
MSI artymis 323CQR is a good option. That and the Gigabyte M27Q, although it can be a bit dark for certain games.
Can you share a link to the SpyderX calib tool? Want to get my first one as I plan on getting this monitor G50A. TY
This or the HP x27q? the G5 is priced 50€ more.
@@BainCustom thanks a lot! 🙏🏼
Is this monitor good for playing games on ps5? I like story mode games but also play some COD with friends. I keep hearing stuff about it not having a 2.1 hdmi.
bought this for 89$ from a dude below who bought for 160$ a year ago, not bad at all!
You earned yourself a sub ! Really great content.. having a hard time choosing between this - the Lenovo lenovo g27q20
Or the viewsonic xg2705k .. any recommendations ?
ViewSonic for sure! Thanks for the sub btw, glad I could provide some good content for you.
I say ViewSonic, because I have always had a good experience with their monitors. Lenovo hasn't always impressed me. But that's just my opinion.
@@BainCustom thanks for the quick respond !
Hi. Sorry I m French
Can you tell me how to adjust this monitor for PS5 to play WARZONE
Thx
I do have settings in the video description for my calibration. If you have a specific request, you can ask and I will see if I can answer.
hi there i'm having weird problem with my odyssey it's the same version as the one you described and love it but whenever i close my pc now and come back later 1hr+ i turn my pc on and the monitor doesn't respond at all sometime i notice screen glow as if it react to my pc but nothing really appear then it turn back black and i'm forced to unplug and repplug it's power cable to get the "samsung + odyssey" message on screen then my windows screen is on do you have any suggestion on how i can fix this i have looked everywhere for solution but turn it to manufacture my unit have great color no dead pixel or anything even glow isn't noticeable "for me at least"
I wonder if response time in adaptive sync mode is better, since that the one rtings used. And they claim that this monitor has great response time
I am sure there is a setting that really does the monitor justice. I keep seeing people praise this monitor, I don't think it is bad. It just didn't stand out in any particular way imo.
Great review! Is it possible to remove the vents at the bottom corners at the front of the monitor? Do they have any function?
bought it, and No, you cant, and they dont seem to have any function. the higher-end Samsung monitors seem to emit RGB from them, but not on this monitor
Can you tell me why there is no adaptive sync on console and why i cant turn it off so i can calibrate the other things
I sure can't. The monitor settings are controlled on the monitor for adaptive sync. Turn it off and you should be able to calibrate further. I did not get adaptive sync on my testing either.
What are the best settings for gaming on this monitor? Using hdmi for Xbox series s
I believe I pinned the comment in the comment section or put them in the video description.
the black of this monitor it's terrible, there is a way to fix?
Hey man would appreciate if you responded. Does this Monitor run smooth at 1440p gaming on PS5. I heard the screen turns white sometimes. But can be resolved with turning adaptive sync off
It did fine for me. It wasn't next level 1440p, but for the price held up well. I didn't notice or experience the screen flicker, but it sounds like there is a solution.
Did you buy this? I just bought it for my ps5
is the a 10 bit color panel ?
Yes
Hello, thanks for your review. I was about to buy the Asus vg27aq1a until I found this one. The price is almost the same. Which one would be ideal for gaming? Thank you.
You like it and what you play on
Anyone has a site where it shows which one is better out of the G5 series. I get discounts so I wanna know which one is better Odyssey G50A, G52A, G55A, G55T, or G51C ? I'm thinking of getting a G51C bc I found good deals but idk which one of these are ordered by low budget to premium based on the naming
Would you recommend the g50a 165hz over the LG Model:32GP83B?
No I wouldn't. The LG was a better experience imo.
When i go to the menu it says ultra wide game view but when i want to click it it says nog availible, does anyone know why?
What are your thoughts in this monitor vs Acer Nitro XV272U 27" 2K WQHD?
I liked the Acer a bit better overall.
Help me please i want to buy one but i need to know if there any issues with panel or facing dead pixel
Well I just bought mine for $250 I just need to know the best calibration setting to do
I put some settings I used in the video description. I hope that helps!
Hello, this monitor is great for movies? Better than m27q? Thx
No, the M27Q is a better buy all together imo.
Try turn off gsync or free sync on monitor
As i know u can't turn on hdr and gsync at same time
Does it have native g-sync I mean does it contain that Nvidia chip inside it ? Or it is free sync premium only ? Cause my friend has that monitor and when he run the g-sync on it , it says adaptive sync and inside Nvidia control panel it says g-sync compatible not capable.
That's why I am asking
I am fairly certain that Samsung does not pay for the Nvidia chip in any of their monitors. If they do, it is going to be on a select few.
Good Video... went for cause the G52A was in Sale for 249€... :D
Thanks for that! Let me know how you like it, that is a solid price point
@@BainCustom For now it works great.... Got it 2 days ago and i tried some settings. Before I got a LG 32GP850-B - that was to big for me ;)
249€ was really good.... now the price is back to 369€ cause I got the new model G52A not G50A
For 369€ I would have bought the LG 27GP850-B ;)
Ohh hopefully it was a good choice to buy it for 199€ without any research 😅 thx for ur video !!!
I think your senses about the purchase were accurate. Wise choice!
does he do any reaction time test in video?
Does this monitor support vesa mounting without an adapter?
LG UltraGear 27GR75Q-B vs Samsung Odyssey G50A vs Dell G2724D vs ASUS TUF VG27AQ1A?
Dont know about the last 2 but this monitor is so much better than the LG 27GP83b-b I had before. My ultra gear had burn in after only a couple hours of use and the colors looked really washed out and cheap. The Samsung has great vibrant clear and crisp display no problems with burn in and gets pretty bright in my opinion. Only downside to the Samsung is it only has 1 hdmi 1 display port and 1 usb thats only for updating the monitor, but it does have a headphone jack for speakers.
I also want to add that there is absolutely no ghosting from what I can see, Im using the monitor with my series s 1440p 120hz vrr on and I see no ghosting in 60fps and 120fps games
What to choose? Gigabyte M32Q or this one?
Gigabyte for sure. That is my opinion.
can you use this monitor at 1400p 165hz ? because i saw some monitor that write that but 165hz was only for 1080p
11:39 - Check this out. I am wondering if they are saying that about using hdmi and not display port. I clearly am using the monitor at 1440p 165hz. Not sure what you found?
Thanks for your answer ! Ive just discovered what was a display port sorry 😅. On a video I saw, he was using hdmi that's why
What are your thoughts f9r a g50a vs g70a in dark room gaming.I really just want the darker areas not to appear Grey and can never find an ips monitor that does that
The G50A has better ips glow. Surprisingly unless it is completely black though, the G70A looks better for black level performance than the G50A.
@@BainCustom that is nice to read as my G70a arrived today.Stuck at work but can't wait to test her out. 😀
U can turn on hdr and gsync at same time?
YES
which is better this monitor or asus vg27aq ? if the same price
That is a good question. I would have to test them to find out.
Should I get this or the curved one. 250 vs $270 for curved
They are 2 different monitors completely. Samsung has a couple of curved monitors with similar model numbers, which one are you talking about?
What are optimal settings for this monitor? For gaming I play cod and god of war mostly
I put them in the video description. But each person is going to have something slightly different than mine.
Thank you!
You like this monitor for your PS5?

I’m finally just gonna get the c1 48in. Brand new from lg . For my xsx
A very good choice imo. What led you to the C1? Besides how good it is?
@@BainCustom your reviews other peoples reviews just constantly re-searching and reading and talking to a lot of people. Rtings, etc.
C1 is a beast. And you can’t go wrong.
So I was going to get a monitor which would probably be better for FPS .
But then I might regret it because I want a big screen for role-playing games. So why not just spend the Dough, and get a sweet big screen that’s future proof.
Lg c1 or lg cx. Both very similar. Both have all the options.
I found a good One used $800 on marketplace from a guy. But I think I’m just gonna go ahead and spend the 1100 and get a brand new one with a one-year warranty

Would you use this monitor for programmer work?
It would work just fine for that, yes. Just think of any regular monitor and a gaming monitor will typically perform better in brightness, sharpness and color accuracy.
would you recommend this g50a 27 over the Dell s3222dgm qhd 32? thanks if u reply
Probably. The dell gets good reviews for sure. I have been able to briefly test it, but not in depth. So it is hard to say for sure. If the G50A is on sale, grab it over the Dell.
Should I buy this monitor, I mainly play fps games. It is only €299 (330 usd) and the others you named on the end are plus 500 usd plus.
Tbh it was not the best fps gaming monitor out there. It's not bad, like it didn't just fail miserably. If you can get over a little motion blur you will be happy with it. But if not, you will want something else.
@@BainCustom o yhe I dont care so much about motion blur, if you know another monitor that is better around the same price plz tell me. Thanks for the advice.
Yes. You won't regret it.
Just got this one for 264,21 US$
So I think for that price its good (;
But kinda hard to get the color right. Lets just say like Sliver Hair in a Anime. You can't tell if its sliver hair (; So I need to play around with the settings some more I think
Yes yes anime ;p but there alot of Colors (; So far I dont like the HDR for Videos/Anime
For gaming so far... Its fine for me. Okay I just comes from a Asus 24" LED VG248QE
Anyway Great Video!
SDR was definitely better for videos than HDR. It allows more calibration. I am sure you can get the color to match up a bit better. Thanks for the input!
@@BainCustom Yeah. I just hate doing the damn settings myself. But am glad you are sure (;
Wish there was better auto options.
Like on my old Asus 24" LED VG248QE. There was pre-settings for a few things. And They worked fine. Or 1 of them did as I remember. So I had never have to do settings for so many years ;p Because that one setting was fine for gaming and watching ^^
And Now I have to put some work and head pains into haha. But again. For now its only that Sliver Color that stand out the most or rather do not stand out...
Most of the colors are fine.
Kinda Funddy that I need HDMI for lets just say the "Black Level"
But the Screen came with a Displayport. So really dont understand why something need that or that to run
Btw. What is HBR 1 and 2 ?
But again your video really helped So Thanks ;D
dude's reviewing gameplay on a recorded video that's playing at 60fps, bruh
bruh. Its recorded at 120fps, then sampled down to YT's ability to only show 60fps.
@@BainCustombruh!
Samsung should stick with VA technology the g7 still better than most IPS just make a flat VA . Really what I mean is they should keep developing their VAs but nothing wrong with IPS options.
Yeah it's surprising that they have just abandoned that technology for this generation. Maybe we will see some updates to VA this year.
colors, angle and response times? if you want to watch movies with great contrast ratios use an oled.. these monitors are aimed at gaming.
i have a laptop so hdmi cable only. Can i get 165hz with 2k?
you can get 4k with 60 fps and 120 fps with 2k
Should I buy this at $250?
Yes

i just bought this monitor for 199euros was it a good purchase?
That is an epic purchase!

why is this half an hour ffs
Should I get the Samsung Odyssey G5 G50A or the GIGABYTE G27Q I would like to spend 600 euros for 2 monitors or can you recommend another monitor that should have 27 inch WQHD and 144hz or more?
My opinion would be to get the Gigabyte. Samsung is good too, but Gigabyte has been really putting out some solid monitors the last few years. You should also check out LG and Acer, solid choices there.
yes i saw the LG UltraGear 27GP850 for 330 euros i think the 60 euros more is worth it for 2 of them
Did Samsung's VA panels show noticeable smearing frequently? If I am not mistaken that is the drawback of some VA displays.
Any recommended settings when using this monitor with an Xbox series x?
Is HDMI locked at 144 hz? Would it be bad to set the monitor to 165 hz?
Bandwith limit of the connector. It's impossible to run at 1440p 165hz with this hdmi version.
You will need to use DP to get full bandwidth. You should see an improvement all together from switching to DP.
Seriously 1 hdmi port. Wtf
Yeah...interesting choice by Samsung.
@@BainCustom Yep. But it works fine out of the box, only tweaked some color settings and black lvl, worked like a charm here.

I have seen it as low as $280. For that I would say absolutely.
thanks, excelent review
This monitor screen flash one half white other half black when I play mlb the show on xbox I have know I Dea why tried 2 of them and the both do it.
Yeah that's pretty intense. It could be the monitor disconnecting and reconnecting trying to turn on hdr. That seems to be a common flaw among many monitors.
amazing monitor for price
Yeah, when it's on sale. Well worth the money.
@@BainCustom Yap I got x2 on sale 1440p gaming and work

Oh buddy. Yeah that sounds like the power supply went out. Get it on a good surge protector when you get it replaced. Sucks, but it happens sometimes.
i have it like it fun my other one died
That is really good to hear! Good luck and GG's!
what do you mean response time faster and freesync on you cant do that on here 😂😂😂
Midrange monitor but samsung never gives you up to date ports and connections unless it's the top model. Btw DP is 1.2 not 1.4
That would make some sense. The Gsync and Freesync range wouldn't be as good and would cause more input delay. Could explain some of the motion issues I was experiencing.
The vignette of this monitor is extremely bad!
Ips panel its the worst va look better the g7 quantum dot. Is better
was expecting a flat va, fu samsung.
🤣 wow. Their VA's are good.
