Appreciate it. My extractor bolt broke off on me today trying to get a broken bleeder bolt out. I was going nice and easy with the tap, but still managed to break off. I'm glad I cooled off for a few hours and found your video. Now I have hope without having to weld something crazy or replace totally...

Thanks for this. Today I broke a screw extractor inside a rusted on bolt inside my brake calliper (really awkward angle, both trying to drill into the broken bolt crossways to my armpit and reaching around to try to crank the extractor - it wasn't a recipe for success). After wasting three new Milwaukee drill bits trying to drill into the extractor, I remembered some things I'd learned from This Old Tony's channel and realised anything I had was probably softer than whatever the extractor material is made & tempered (annealed?). ....Sure enough, I was doing nothing but putting a fine polish on that dang extractor tip, and your video confirmed my suspicions.
Now I'm about to make a home depot run to grab some diamond bits for my dremel and a little hand torch to try some variations on your theme. Peace.

Thank you. This $5 set of diamond bits did a better job than an $80 carbide, which burnt up after 5 minutes. Was through the bolt using multiple bits in about 15 minutes on and off. I wished i had been educated on this more before i wasted so much time with traditional drill bits and that carbide grinder. Thx again.

I tried several times with the seven dollar 20 piece Diamond bits and the 7000 rpm mini tool. The Diamond flakes are held on with spittle, so I tried the $20 Drexel bit. Burned through two of those. The temu “carbide broken drill bit drill” is making some progress. I might finish in about 6 months.

Watched this Video, helped me after watching but i used the diamond tip rotary grinding set that cost $8.99 for 10 piece, for a 1/4 inch angle die grinder air tool instead of dremel. Cut through faster than 30, like 10 to 15 minutes but it worked, wore 2.5 bits out. Don't forget to use the Harbor freight 20% coupon to make it a little less for the bits. They were sold out of the $10 dremel tool, so decided to buy bits for air tool i had. Thanks for posting.. now i need that beer..

I'm going through the same thing with a transmission pan bolt on a tundra. Going to harbor freight this morning to pickup some diamond bits. See if they have anything else while I'm there. Surprised how all the big chain stores don't sell any high quality drill bits. Everything is junk. Only good for wood for the most part

@@mark_osborne Well I wasn't as lucky. Had to buy a carbide burr from my tool guy today. My extractor was the square type with the twisted end. Super hard metal. @@mrbanana779 Short answer is no. I tried using a new extractor after drilling through the old broken extractor(diamond bits harbor freight) and since the new extractor wasn’t turning at all I was afraid of breaking another inside the hole. I torched 2-3 minutes then let it cool, repeated this 3 times - nothing. I then drilled out the hole completely just up to the threads and then tried using a tap and die but that also didn’t work. I gave up and just used metal cable ties (also sold at HF) to hold the exhaust hanger. There is little to no play on the exhaust and I’ve already driven 100+ miles. No issues. I may take it to a shop later down the road and have them give it a go

I'm going to have to try this next time. What's funny is that my dewalt titanium coated bits are slowly drilling through a broken extractor but not much, so I decided to see if they had become dull and started drilling into my steel workbench (not sure what grade or type steel, but it's at least 15yrs old) and the bit started drilling into it, no problem Lol

Yep, just broke a damn snap on extractor in a starter bolt hole. Had a beautiful hole drilled and should have just drilled it and tapped it, but damn it, I had to get greedy!! now I got this damn thing stuck good. I did manage to cut a slit with the dremel and used that to get another pilot hole started, but yep. not a single bit I have out of hundreds from years of turning wrench will touch it. anyways, I even tried getting a punch and tapping it out that way, but Noooooooo. The lawnmower was given to me and it is really nice, so I guess the challenge will be worth salvaging it, it is like a 3k mower. Thanks for the tip, I already have the diamond tips and the dremel, just not the time. Did you get your diamond deburr/grinders at harbor frieght as well? I don't remember where the hell I got mine at, but I am definiately looking at options. Even tried to tack weld a nut on it. place a nut over the hole and hit it with the mig, tried about 3 times, it was actually damn near successful, but no cigar. so here we go, I am gonna fix this damn mower. Grrrr..... Thanks again.

@@mark_osborne Got it out! I ordered another cheap dremel with a flex shaft off of ebay for 30 bucks and man, it worked great. I already had the diamond tips, smoke a few, and like ya said, took about an hour, margarita helped hold my arm up. but yea, got through it, then went to tap it and realized my m8 1.25 was a bit dull so rather than break the damn thing in the hole, I just went and bought a new one. All in all. fixed up like new. Really appreciate the tip, and I thank God I had the wisdom and patience to put it into practice. Lawmower fixed. Cha Ching baby. Thanks again.
