- The Pain elemental is a creature confined to the lowest depths and is involved in processing lost souls. This process is exceedingly painful and agonizing as it takes place within the guts of the pain elemental. its only purpose is to take this pain, and put it on others. In todays episode, we will discuss potentially what this beast was prior to this demonic change!

They have evolved and are capable of hitting people upside the head.
I unfortunately got the impression that these demons are doggos who fought for the humans. Think about it. Dogs have insane prey drive, just like the pain elemental. They would have fought hard to the very end due to their loyalty. They give live birth. More males would be used in combat, thus the dimorphism and the disparity in punishment. Thats fucked, our good boys were such good boys they got turned into bad boys.
Would the sexual dimorphism explain the blood differences, though? Pain Elementals bleed red and have red inner flesh, but Cacodemons have blue blood and blue-tinged flesh.
It may be that their blood was originally blue, but the constant exposure to the Argen energy suffered by males turned their blood and flesh red.
I know it sounds stupid and it's not based on anything but it's the only thing I could think of.
Maybe it's just due to heavy alterations
The color of blood depends on the amount of minerals concentrated on it, maybe pain elementals have more iron on their blood, giving it a red color.

Caco is augmented like the aracnotron or in other words it’s still the same to an extent just foreign objects help make up the body
While the pain elemental and Macubus are almost firey red thanks to argent which just all togethor alters the body fundamentally

At 5:16 you can see that under the skin he has spikes petruding on top of the eyeball identical to the spikes the cacodemon has on top of his eye. I guess this confirms that underneath the extra muscle and armor it's very very similar to a cacodemon which further supports this video.

So Argent Energy gave the Pain Elemental horns but couldn't bother giving the Cacaodemon functioning arms (assuming they are the same species). But why?
Sir_ Deadlock The cacodemon never needs arms. The bite covers enough space to render grabbing useless and live in a swamp (Slough is the word used in the codex) so they aren’t throwing anything.
@@ignaciovitalis3971 But the Marauder doesn't need horns yet they got them. The Pain Elemental doesn't need horns yet they got them. The Pain Elemental has an equally big if not bigger mouth than the Cacaodemon (still assuming same species here) yet still has arms. It throws lost spirits sure, but can also spit them just as effectively. So why is the Cacaodemon not given arms? Imagine if someone was on its head, arms would be really useful in that situation. XD
Sir_ Deadlock Now thinking about that, hell probably left the cacodemons as dregs hunting in swamps so they never evolved further. Horns are also common in more powerful demons such as the Marauder, Baron, Tyrant, and even the Titans so they might be a sign of rank or power rather than practicality so the Pain Elementals probably have theirs for their work. Cacodemons have no work so they stopped evolving and never grew to the same power as Pain Elementals.

The male/female thing explains, two things, the horns on the pain elemental, as with alot of the animals on Earth, the male usually only have horns, two, the reason there aren't as many pain elementals is because they fought and lost numbers before they were conquered, so the are more caocao demons than pain elementals

I suppose this proves my theory that even as former humans/conquered species, this is part of their punishment in hell, their own bodies cause them suffering and what not.
As a kickstarter to one on the new Mancubus, the Art of DOOM Eternal book says that the ones in this game are from a totally different region of hell than the ones in 2016, discovered to not have the naturally occurring weaponry and armour. The Revenant is still a man made demon, as well as the Arachnotron. There was a mass over running and breakout of the Arachnotron making labs, and the automated manufacturing of these demons is still continuous.
Of all of the demons, the Pain Elemental is def my favorite with the Arch Vile being a close second. Everything about it just screamingly metal! \m/
Maybe compare original Doomguy to current Doomguy for a future video? Like, comparing muscle mass, skills, potential aging, etc etc.

I was going to throw in the idea that these things evolved from ambush hunters. They have massive mouthes, huge bite force, but are incredibly slow. Then further they more defensive things on top than bottom, and clearly function in one direction. If you come from behind on one of them then it can't see you worth anything.

The Cacodemon is stated to be descended from much larger titan-like demons in the doom eternal codex. The two demons aren’t related.

Tldr: the titans died but were too angry to fully die, so their souls came back as munchy meatballs

It's a long shot but what if pain elementals were the demonized forms of a cherubim-like race? I vaguely remember cherubim to originally be depicted as baby heads with multiple sets of wings. What if most of the wings turning into those mini arms surrounding it's mouth while one set was turned into the arms.

Well there is a level of pain to now now fear after death that I never realized. Awesome
When I first played Doom2, I assumed that Pain Elementals were the females of Cacodemons (even though they were called "guys" in the manual), and that Lost Souls were a juvenile form of the species, which eventually lost one eye and relocated the other, more or less as the sole do. It was very interesting to hear someone making similar conjectures, despite the gender change.

I remember reading the codex on pain elementals and feeling really bad for them and from then on killing them felt like mercy killing

If I see a Cacodemon playing with caco toy like a lil baby even for split second in a dlc or a sequel i will CRY
But why would you assume the female Cacodemon wouldn’t be the one competing with other females for males based on mammalian traits, instead of like with angler fish where the females are bigger. Or even female hyenas with their pseudo penises? Or it could be a juvenile and adult situation since the armor plating looks undeveloped, and even the eye color change would match how in many animals, eye colors change from juvenile to adult form.

I've never heard of eye color changing like that with age. And it's clear it's not older and younger due to the descriptions if the demons. As for why Males compete more than females, I have no idea. I think he is basing on the thing were most species have males compete for females? Either through competion/fighting, or who's more vibrant.
Prince Dragoon Kittens to cats, especially check out those where the kittens start out blue and change to darker browns or greens. This varies with breeds, tho IIRC Siamese cats are one of the most obvious.

I was asking the same thing, like the Cacodemon could easily have external sex organs for its sack, implying it to be the male. While the Pain Elemental LITERALLY spawns lost souls, that feels like an analogy of birth to me.

This is just my opinion, but you should a vid on some more fallout related things like the spore carriers or centaurs, also great video
Can you make a video about the Xenomorphs from the Alien franchise? And the Yautja from the Predator franchise? The creators based the Xenomorph life cycle on the tarantula hawk wasp and they are probably not carbon-based due to their blood. But that's about as much as I can figure out.
