- One of the few demons considered to be a "super heavy" unit is known as the Arch Vile. This demon has the control over Argent energy to the point that it can open up micro portals for individual demons and spawn them in at will to attack humans, night sentinels, the doom slayer. Whatever it wants. It also possesses the ability to control said demons and subjugate them. The question is then, where does this creature come from and why it is endowed with this ability? Well lets discuss that in todays episode shall we?

Hey Roanoke, one thing I want to point out is that you do see a male Maykr, The Seraphim or Samur Maykr. On the wiki itself you can see his model with him having both arms and the tentacle things
Are we sure that the Seraphs and the regular Makyr's are one in the same? I got the Impression that Makyr's are maybe more like a genus with multiple strains of the species, divided into specific roles/castes. You have the Khan Makyr's which are the biggest members of the species seen so far. Then the Seraphs and Samur Makyr the Seraphim who are a caste of Makyr's entrusted to guard the Sanctum and assist anyone who is worthy of using it. Then the Makyr Angels and their Demonic Counterparts the Blood Angels, who seem to act as soldiers and representatives of the Makyr's based on the one you see in Sentinel prime. Lastly there are the Makyr Drones, which seem to be the lowest caste and possibly change naturally or conditioned to evolve into the other forms of Sentinel.
Also interesting to note, was the Angel on Argent D'nur/Sentinel Prime had a helmet/headpiece reminiscent of the 2016 Summoner. I know Roanoke keeps saying there's no connection and maybe their isn't.
Don't forget Maykr angel (the thing that greets you ("welcome home, great Slayer") once you start the Sentinel Prime level (he doesn't seem to have legs)
@@tonts5329 honestly mate, it's hard to say. We are overanalysing the fuck out of a video game. I personally think the Samur and the Angel are male Maykrs, but I could be wrong. The Khan is also made differently from the others, as they were meant to be the special leaders and stuff, so that could factor in as well. But again, no idea for certain.

Edit: So everyone is bringing up how the Arch-viles are related to ancient demons. Well the Maykrs have been around for quite some time. Is it not possible they are in fact apart of the Maykr race? Idk man, considering the Maykrs appear to have kicked this thing off, seems like it could work that way to me

@@polylyly849 The only difference is that they serve the Father and not the Kahn. They are still Maykrs- except they are not bound by the Kahn Maykr. They have free will but ultimately serve the Father.

I will have to object your theory that the Arch-Viles are corrupted Maykrs.
The codex of the Arch-Vile states that they are direct descendants of the eldest race of demons, and Hell/Jekad were not known to the Maykrs (excluding Samur Maykr), therefore, chronology: Arch-Viles cannot be Maykrs.

Pretty sure demons like tyrant and archville are "true" demons, and did not come from somewhere else.
Maykrs don’t become the Whiplash demons. The Whiplash demons are their own species that were corrupted by the Dark Lord and now live within the Dark Realm. And Archviles are native to Jekkad/Hell, so they can’t be Maykrs.
The only confirmed females of the Maykr race are the Kahn Maykr and Blood Maykrs. We don’t quite know about the Drones, as they could be genderless. But we have met male Maykrs- like the Maykr Angel on Sentinel Prime and Samur Maykr aka The Seraphim.
Also, every Maykr possesses tentacles, regardless of their sex or rank.
When the Seraphim became transfigured, he looked like the Kahn Maykr without her mask, and the Seraphim wasn’t exposed to hell energy. So I don’t think her unpleasant facial features were due to Hell Corruption.

Nearly all of his videos can be summed up with two words: Confirmation Bias. He goes in with an idea, then just interprets what he sees in a way that fits with his idea. Actually looking things up to make sure his theory fits with known information never seems to be a step he ever takes in *any* of his "explained" videos.

Like what’s considered a “realm,” the number of realms, the connection between Primevals/ life spheres and their respective realm. He could talk about this stuff instead 😂 Or with the fact that all Blood Maykrs are female, even when we’ve met a male Maykr Angel. This makes you think if the Blood Maykrs were similar to the Valkyries in Norse mythology. Or how about what Jekkad looked like before it’s down fall? Or some of the unexplored events within the series - or the unexplored regions, clans, and prominent figures mentioned once or twice in the Argenta codex.

I feel like the Arch-Vile is a "Hell original" so to speak. In Doom there has always been a difference for me between the "Hell originals" (Demons born and raised in Hell, like the Imp, Hell Knight and Baron of Hell for example) and the "Modified demons" (Demons modified by the UAC and since Eternal also the Maykrs, like the Arachnotron, Mancubus and the Revenant for example). In Eternal the codex entry of the Arch-Vile also states that it was "forged from Hellfire" and "Descended from the eldest race of demons". So my head-canon is that the Arch-Vile is only a few ranks below the Dark Lord and kind of acts as a general on the battlefield.
For the evolutionary route I feel like it can actually be linked to the Imp (much like the Summoner). The Arch-Vile has no metalic parts to its body, so it hasn't been modified in any way by the UAC. It also looks like any regular Imp, under the right cicumstances, can grow into an Arch-Vile. The Imp has many of the same spikes and body characteristics as the Arch-Vile has, combine that with the fact that both use fire, have similar hands and Imps change between walking on 4 and 2 legs/arms all the time I felt like when Hell required it, any imp could grow up to become an Arch-Vile (kind of like the queen of a beehive, any female bee could become a queen, but it only happens when certain conditions are met).
Also the Prowler is like the perfect missing link between the Imp and the Arch-Vile, as it is basically a bigger Imp, has better understanding of Hell magic and can teleport around. So, growth wise it would go: Imp > Prowler > Arch-Vile. You could also go a bit further and say that Summoners are female versions of Arch-Viles, as they have the same origin and the only difference in their development into their later stages would be gender.
Sorry for the rant, I just like thinking about this stuff too and have a love/hate relationship with Arch-Viles ever since Doom 2 :P
One thing I noticed that's just another nod to Archvile intelligence is that they don't show fear like an animal, roaring and screeching, they instead stare at you with a terrified expression in most glory kills

And we did see the other two males in the end of the Ancient gods part 1.
My guess is due to evolution change when exposed to the Argent energy, though I ain't expert but maybe the male Maykr's have been exposed enough energy that their bodies changed with legs which is likely recent change since they don't necessarily use them as much since they can just teleport (even the running animation makes it look awkward like they just barely know how to run).
so.. like with the female Maykr's I believe the same amount of Argent energy happened to them but their tentacle legs grew much longer to make them like a long serpent like tail. Maybe because they refuse to have legs like their male counterparts but who knows.

I have some another idea- maybe the Meykyr dudes we meet in The Ancient Gods weren't mutated because they were needed for other purpose. Like, they were posted as guards of God and Satan orbs, that's why they didn't had the exposure

Hell consumed worlds before the current khan Maykr made the shitty deal with the dark lord. Different worlds and dimensions with different types of life have been consumed and as a side effect also helped create demons in some cases.

Given the samur problem I think you could probably argue that these are urdak gorillas. In fact to speculate widely, we are the first species with full self reflective consciousness on our planet but on urdak that might not be the case. The maykrs might be smart species 2.0 and the archviles are their 1.0, smart but still just a step up from apes

@@WilfNelson1 Archies are descendants of the eldest demon race as stated by the lore. There no ways they could be a corrupted maykr since archies first appeared in doom 2 which takes place before the doom guy even alerted the maykrs to the demons existence.
@@kefo3241 true that does make it tricky but it could be 1. Convergent evolution under hell energy and doom 2 archviles and doom eternal archviles came from different things or 2. Urdak is a very old civilisation and may have met demons before the current civilisation we meet with the khans is in place.

There's just one tiny problem...we _have_ seen male Maykrs before, in the form of Maykr Angels and the Seraphim -- and none of them had legs either.
I'm surprised you apparently forgot about the Seraphim. Maykr Angels I can understand because they're mostly just glorified set dressing, but the Seraphim...?
Which brings me to my next question: have you played the DLC?
I estimated that the Khan maykr's hight is around 33 feet or so. The doom slayer is 6' 8" and the Khan maykr's about 5 slayers. 6 x 5 = 30, 8 x 5 = 40, 40÷ 12 = 3.33. I really hope I did that correctly
I don’t know if the xenomorph from the Alien films counts as a biological mess but it would be fun to see you discuss it. It’s lifecycle is wild.
the only nagging thing about the Arch-Vile being maykr's is they were first seen in Doom 2 and Doom Eternal shows that the events of Doom 1/2 and Doom 64 are canon but it also shows that the Maykrs did not encounter demons or had assess to the hell dimension till AFTER Doomslayer had joined the ranks of Night Sentinels as they came to Argenta thru the very same portal that Doomslayer then just Doomguy whats thrown into in at the end of the new tie-in chapter added to Doom 64

I LOVE the pure terror and fear in the archvile's eyes. It's extremely immersive, and such a cool touch. It's like they're smart enough for their former self to show and, through expressions, say:
"This is it. *He* has found me, defeated me, and I have failed to the highest degree."
I remember the pain elemental looking fearful too before you stomp on it's eye, almost feel bad for it :

I like your theories, but I think they would be a lot better if you incorporated the lore on demons into account. It would lead to backstories that are more consistent with what we know in game
Have you played the ancient gods dlc? It has some info that might change you opinion of the maykers, as a major character is a male mayker.. The summoner makes an appearance as spirits as well.
In the dlc, Summoners have shown to still be there, though in a more spectral form, driven by hatred. I don't think it was a art style change or anything like that.

@@bughuntwilson5937 I was thinking of Insecticons and Predacons. And this reminded me of something;
When I watched TFP Beast Hunters and Predacons Rising, I think it was implied that, despite being native to Cybertron and having Sparks, Predacons were not a creation of Primus (if Unicrons calling Predaking a "primitive lifeform" is anything to go off of). This could mean the beasts were products of natural selection and chance rather than envisioned by Primus, much like actual animals following abiogenesis. This would also explain why Predacons didn't have not forms at first.
I feel you may want to look at Samur in The Ancient Gods part 1 due to this. Mostly due to how he looks very similar to the Maykrs and was associated with them, so unless there is another reason then it's likely Arch Viles might not be male Maykrs but something else closely related.
Archies are descendants of the eldest demon race as stated by the lore. There no ways they could be a corrupted maykr since archies first appeared in doom 2 which takes place before the doom guy even alerted the maykrs to the demons existence.
@@kefo3241 Jekad/Hell was the first world The Father himself created, but after Davoth was killed and kept within his life orb, Hell was sealed off and kept secret from all of the Maykrs save for a select few. The Maykrs relearned what Hell was when the Doom Marine told them about Hell and then the demons began their own invasion, at which point they had Argenta slaves build the Argent Energy factories.
@@GamingEelektross I know, but jekkad was actually sealed away by the father long before davoth’s soul was ever ripped from his chest as is evident by these quotes from the codex.
“Believing Jekkad rejected by their creator, hate grew within Davoth. Jekkad fell further into inequity as Davoth consumed all the realm in pursuit of his goals, and The Father sorrowfully sealed Jekkad away from the other realms.”
“Foreseeing that Davoth's rule would ultimately grow to threaten all creation, and that Davoth would someday rise to challenge The Father himself, the creator of all things sealed Jekkad off from the myriad dimensions enfolded in his arms.”
The only people outside of jekkad that knew of what had happened is father and samur maykr. All other maykrs had no idea of what had happened to jekkad, let alone know demons evens existed. Also urdak was actually the first dimension the father created, jekkad however is the first dimension he created knowingly.
@@kefo3241 Yeah, I forgot a few of those details, but the main point still stands; Roanoke never paid attention to any lore and/or read any of the demon bios.
