  • Meilin Village originated from the Jiayou period of the Northern Song Dynasty, when a famous philosopher, theorist, and literary figure served as a magistrate in Qianzhou. Together with local gentry and the people, they planted hundreds of plum trees on the north bank of the Gongjiang River, forming a continuous village of plum trees and earning the name "Meilin". It has been 955 years since then. The surname Meilin Village originated from the Southern Song Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, 33 surnames had migrated south and settled in Meilin. The ancestors inherited the traditional culture of respecting ancestors and gods in the Central Plains, expanded their territory, built temples and halls, and formed a unique regional dialect with "many temples, banyan trees, and ponds", as well as Hakka traditional customs.
