I am making a memory quilt for my Great granddaughter. I’m having all of her relatives, I grandparents; great-great grandparents to cousins sign a fabric square so I can make a heart quilt for her. She recently told me she wants a pink heart quilt so this pattern and ideas are perfect for it. I ordered the pattern and template when I saw the email. It isn’t a cancer thing but I felt it would be great way to have a memory of her grandparents for years to come.

As an ex chemo-nurse it might be good to make a small pillow and then use the pattern you have as a removable/washable cover. It is a great idea. My quilt group used to make (pre-covid) a pouch for a chemo pumps used in bowel cancer. Always good to do and lets people know others care. If you give them to hospitals, please put a message and name with it because it matters.

If you add another charm to this pillow, and center your velcro you can make a wonderful seltbelt cover for those of us who are vertically challenged (short) and the strap cuts across our necks.. I used to abhor wearing my seatbelt especially if we had to drive any kind of distance as i would arrive with a huge red mark on my neck where it had been rubbing. i made one and now all i feel is the fuzzy of the back that i made it with!

I'm from Argentina, where quilting is not so big as in the USA. Our most famous quilter, Cecilia Koppman, recently shared her story. She created a quilt (Rayos y Centellas) while she was going through cancer treatment. She will create a block every day during the treatment and she ended up with a beautiful quilt at the end of the process. She stresses the healing power of creating something and the fact that having a final product gives this process a closure. She shared her story because she started a quilt along project during quarantine (quilt de la cuarentena = quarantine quilt). Over 600 people from all over the world joined her (me included) and we created a quilt one block a day while locked down! Amazing idea!

There is also heart shaped pillow that gets stuffed with fiber fill which after mastectomy surgery it goes under the arm pit so the upper arm can relax and not press on the surgical area. It’s awesome with soft fabric❣️ My cousin made 2 sets for me after double mastectomy ( a 2nd set was helpful when the other set needed washing). I in turn made same for a niece who also needed a double mastectomy. We all loved the helpfulness of the pillows. TLC💞 to share.

Good morning-I love and appreciate all of these wonderful ideas and tutorials! I consider myself a confident beginning quilter as I started on this quilting journey about 4 years ago and absolutely love it! I hope one day when I retire to make to items such port pillows, Quilts for Kids, etc. Thank you for the wonderful idea about using writing with words with Micron pens. I have been trying to think of a way to add a label on the quilts I make for my children and grandson with my handwriting on it and I think I just found it! Do you think the method Jenny showed using HeatnBond and Micron pens would work for a quilt label as well? Thanks again for everything! sending y'all love and best wishes from South Carolina! Stay well and safe!

I love this project! I made something similar for both my sister and my son-in-law for their ports. They both had ports for such a long time that these really came in handy. As they were going through chemo, we were asked to make several more. I think all in all we donated a few dozen to each of the sites. They are so needed. I do have one question though for all of your "pink" items. Are you sending any donations from your sales?

I love you all and I used one of your designs to make a quilt for my daughter who is now breast cancer free. So this is kinda of funny, not funny, but humor is how I am able to journey forward with Metatastic Melanoma. Three years I have been through 3 diagnosis and surgeries, but have now just had my LAST chemo (Immune Therapy, the only therapy, at this time for a possible cure) Well, blah, blah, blah...all this to tell you that one day I thought well I will just look and see what the color ribbon is for Melanoma...it's black... not a fun pink or aqua, black. We gotta think of some way to make a happy black quilt...otherwise I'm just going with another color! Ha Ha...Love you all to the moon and back for all you do! Your amazing and I'm headed that way when you open up your sweet town...

when my mother had cancer i had to go down to Florida to take care of her. which meant i had to leave my family here in Nebraska. One thing i took with me was a small teddy bear that i had sprayed with my husband's cologne. And i had sprayed my pillow at home with my perfume for him. I had to be away for 6 months with only 1 weekend visit. it was so hard on us. But 30 yrs later i still have that teddy bear sitting on my headboard. he kept me going through the darkest of times when my husband couldn't be there physically. I can't bare to desert him.
