Carmen, your videos feel like I'm sitting down for an insightful tea with a fellow first time S.African diaspora mamma. I value how you navigate along - and against the grain - of normative parenthood in Canada. Thanks for sharing the little experiences and detailed decisions of your EC journey. Springtime greetings from Ireland.

Thank you so much! Especially your opinions about others expectations and the communication between you and your baby :)

We use trainers, hve been since 10mo I find it a lot easier to remove trainers and put her on the potty rather then removing the nappies. Not really getting very clearly signals atm we use potty sign but she doesn’t really use it. Tend to gather she needs to wee as she starts complaining or getting restless! She’s the same age just about to turn 14mo but not walking so struggling to work out how to give her some independence. Also just to add we use lanolised wool shorties, disana ones they work really well.

Thanks for sharing. I just for some wool covers from Disana to try out! I think walking does make it easier for them to go to the potty and then to learn to climb on to it themselves, but it takes time :) and us just being there facilitating and attempting to understand their communication :)

In my case, the people were more sceptical than exited. So I didn't wanted to do it in front of somebody else. And I didn't liked talking about it 😅

Thanks for sharing your experience. Is EC popular in your area? I'm in the US and don't know a single person who has done it and most people have never even heard of it. I've loved doing it but it's hard not having any community around it!

I feel you! It is not popular in my area at all (Canada). At the time I started I didn't know anyone doing it. Since then, I met one mom who started doing it at 9 months and from discussing it with mom friends a few of them started doing it.
I really appreciated the mom friend who started at 9 months because her kiddo was 1 year older than mine and I learnt a lot from watching them and their experience. As well as other things like I could see her kiddo's tiny trainers to see what size to order and we did some EC orders together.
It isn't easy, but if you do happen to meet someone else who does it - I highly recommend asking them to hang out again :)

hmmmm... I mean it depends what you consider "potty trained", but she does go in the potty.
