First of all, I know this isn't exactly the "cup of tea" for a lot of my FB friends. It's a 1 1/2 hour one-woman concert from 1978 by the late great Eartha Kitt who, in my opinion, was one of the all-time greatest talents ever. So, for those of my friends who agree with my assessment, please enjoy this as I have.. For those who do not, by all means, feel free to just scroll on by. 🙂. 😉😊 Many thanks to Alan Eichler for this and many other treasures!
I can only say nice things about Eartha Kitt I was fortunate enough to book her for a show years back in Miami Florida and she'll be the music icon movie actress forever and more
Adding time stamps to some of my favorite songs. Feel free to use them as well! 0:09- I’m still here-Eartha’s version ;) 6:47- All I want is all there is and then some 10:49- I can’t give you anything but love 41:41- All by myself 56:31- Le danseur de Charleston 1:04:16- I want to be evil 1:22:26- Santa baby 1:25:04- ç’est si bon
here are a few of my favorites 15:49 Brown Baby (sung as Little Baby here) I think Oscar Brown jr wrote this one. 1:14:44 Angelitos negros by Song by Antonio Machín 1:19:22 Uska dara
The recently published EARTHA & KITT: A Daughter's Memoir in Black & White by Kitt Shapiro provides many details about this fascinating performer's life, especially during her final years. Highly recommended!
@@Tecobelli Miss Kitt also wrote 3 autobiographies: THURSDAY'S CHILD (1956), ALONE WITH ME (1975), & I'M STILL HERE: CONFESSIONS OF A SEX KITTEN (1989). The 1st book ends with the opening of MRS. PATTERSON on Broadway, the 2nd includes The White House luncheon with Lady Bird Johnson & its aftermath, the 3rd offers a summation of her life, loves, & career to that date. The 1st book especially captures her unique upbringing & adventurous spirit.
I once asked Stephen Sondheim if he ever wrote, or heard, alternate lyrics to "I'm Still Here" that would allow it to be sung by a man. He got a little testy and answered, "no, and if you try to write them, I will sue you just like I did Eartha Kitt." I'm guessing he would not have loved this clip, but I'm (still) here for it.
@@aeichler Interesting! Thanks for setting the record straight. (I guess we'll have to forgive his taking a little creative liberty in the interests of scaring me away from butchering his song!)
I’m a huge Sondheim fan, but that’s a dick move. This is an *amazing* version of that song. Eartha Kitt went. through. it. and survived. Not everyone who sang that song did.
@@kentbrintnall874 No doubt about it, Sondheim had a pretty giant ego. And that probably made him a little over protective of his work. I was a little surprised of the tone of the letter I got, and how he mentioned Eartha Kitt specifically. Clearly, he took the issue of people tweaking his lyrics very seriously!
3:59 lol what does she say. 46:16 that's a beautiful line. 1:01:00 She's unique because most performers don't include humor in their act. She was the best
Truly fabulous. I was lucky to see her live many times. Always astounding.
ME too! 👍
Eartha Kitt still iconic.

He didn't actually sue her, but he sent a letter threatening to. She switched back to the real lyric and later played Carlotta in London and Berlin.

Such "T" priceless
Ah my dear, but you ended with a bang - three Daytime Emmys for voicework.
I ADORE Eartha! This was wonderful to watch. Are you sure the year is correct? Her appearance looks more like 1990-ish.

This is WOEFULLY underliked for the number of views, SHAME ON THEM!!
I Love this Lady
