When you end up more fabulous than all those who rejected you!🥂👑
Amazing Grace is what keep her pure and safe.true angel can never be destroyed.love her soul
OMG this woman is so ELEGANT!!!! There's no WEAKNESS here... This is a STRONG woman!!!!
StarWoors
Even if there was that'd be nothing against her. Just the people who treated her and people like her poorly
@Kirk Moore
😑 Why the hell would a 4 yr old know anything about what she was saying? You're just a nitpicky hater
The best revenge is success. A successful classy, intellectual Lady who will always have my admiration and respect.
She's smarter than the woman conducting the interview.
For sure. Love Eartha. Such a powerful spirit and great woman/human. Miss her.
Her voice is so relaxing, her mind is incredible, her soul so pure and beauty so elegant I could watch and listen to her all day
I love Eartha's voice
I LOVED EARTHA KITT, I BELIEVE SHE IS DISTANCE COUSIN OF MINE SHE WAS A GREAT ACTRESS AND JUST ADORED HER VOICE AND SPEECH NO ONE COULD PLAY CAT WOMAN LIKE SHE DID, R.I.P.I.H. LOVE YOU CUS.
Eartha was not a woman to be messed with, me thinks. Love her!
I saw in a documentary where she stood up to Nixon while on a visit to the White House. Her career suffered as a result. Yes... she was tenacious.
This woman was simply extraordinary! To have survived all possible abuses as a child, and somehow standing firmly on the ground with an amazing sense of self...Wow!
It’s like she could see right through people so clearly... her spiritual eyes tell me so
One of the most interesting life stories I've ever heard. Can you imagine the internal struggles that Eartha had to go through in order to feel confident enough to be who she was while on this Earth, all the while, being treated like a rag doll by most people she encountered... That's called sacrifice and transformation! When you listen to the stories of your elders and ancestors, great knowledge and wisdom, such as this can be attained!
Nina513 and Jesse Lee Peterson says that slavery and Jim crow and other forms of racism doesn't exist Jesse Lee is a self hater and he supports white supremacy
She has the same story as most blacks in the US, not even that critical. White people out here livin that good, that this seems strange? 😒 wake up y’all, I was born in 86, and my story is just as f’’k’ed. Things aren’t better for brown folks.
I could listen to this woman talk all day
Am I the only one that notices Ms, Kitt always looks so sad ?
She had a tremendous amount of internal pain, but used it as a catalyst to live.
She doesn't look sad to me. Her face is not artificially animated to make others feel better. In other words, she ain't selling frozen smiles.
Eartha Kitt was so intelligent, fabulous and beautiful - who's watching in 2020
It’s so sad that with all Eartha’s charisma, strength, and compassionate intelligence you can still feel her pain.
It would have been so interesting to have sat talked and listened to her.
What a Beautiful endearing piece of fascinating history.
My Dad always said she was the best cat 🐈 woman. He was right.😊
This was a very deep interview for me...dang she went through it :(
NubianQueen_xo Could not have been easy for her to do this interview
Just ignore the interviewer .. then it becomes a great document..
Sometimes we tend to easily get distracted from what is going on! This beautiful strong woman is sharing her story and many is focused on the person doing the interview. Eat the meat n throw away the bone!
She's an amazing intelligent woman
Forget Halle, forget Anne Hathaway, forget Julie Newmar. She is the OG Catwoman!
This woman has it all CLASS, INTELLECT, CHARM, and tough as nails...wow. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons. Love and respect.
Eartha and Nina Simone have intellects turned up to 11. I’m in awe...
Well one thing for sure didn't do us no kind of service by making that blasphemy of a movie about Nina Simone and they cast Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone. That was nothing but fucking blasphemy the actress now there's a lot of controversy about this movie have to be made up a prosthetic nose to blend in with the makeup to portray Nina Simone I have no respect for Zoe Saldana none at all Zoe. Dinner is a Dominican Republic afro-caribbean actress and they don't consider themselves black just ask cardi B, in a few other afro-caribbean black actresses and singers didn't want to be associated with being black American and that's a fact
Its truth- that more then just discrimination- the worse thing is being abandon by your own people, our own family!
so sorry for responding this late but I've lived it for 44 years. It is more common than one thinks or believes.
Discrimination and abandonment are both damaging to the soul, and should not be compared. Please stop.
Pure 1000% class and elegance ....a class of her own! So admirable.
Eartha put that interviewer in her place when she try to question why food was being thrown at her. This interviewer pissed me off.
During a time period when illegitimacy was a serious offense. The darker hued children could hide it. No one would know unless you told them or unless they knew your family history. Lighter complexioned or biracial children, no matter where they lived in the south could not hide their illegitimacy. Everyone knew, just by looking at you that your parents were not and could not marry.
FACTS! Same thing in Africa... prior to and during colonialism.
@@HuesoAmarilloAfricana South America too. They even had a chart system with different levels, like a caste system.
I saw Eartha as a 14 year old in the musical "Timbuktu" in Washington, D.C USA). I had no idea who she was until I saw the show. She was GREAT! And I had the good fortune of saying "hello" and having a small chat with her (and my Grandma who was crazy about Eartha...made Eartha a bit nervous, I think). Eartha was very kind to me...what a way to discover her! And then I learned a bit about her story....wow. It's so nice to hear her speak it.
I really hope that this woman isn't interviewing anyone anymore...so insensitive and rude..ugh!
Sorry for the horrific experiences of this ugly world !! We are all human. Our compassion and the way we act towards one another matters tremendously!
Most likely the interviewer is ignorant and cannot get her head around the fact that a lighter skinned African American could face discrimination and rejection from the African American community... and that is the same mentality that started the cycle of denial that poor defenseless Eartha Mae found herself in. Thank God she managed to crawl out of that world and inspire us all!
+Euro-African Interviewer just trying doing her job to get all detail straight up, without messing every detail in one big pot under name of the "discrimination"! its obvious that it was decriminalization, but there so much details in the culture that time, why it should be ignored? And the facts of the story it self. By the way-about discrimination- I'm white immigrant in the USA- and I was discriminated many time by blacks-"African-americans" in modern time. And 'm sick and tired hearing all the time as blacks here without any reason pressing the race card!
Brant Brant not just blacks that play the race card as you know. My point was the interviewer sounded like she was questioning the authenticity of Eartha's story, which is disrespectful. This isn't a police interrogation.
Maybe not "only" blacks, but most of them, by my observation. I was surprised to see how they are treating others, even blacks from Africa, by continuously pulling attention on this subject ..most of the time just dragging attention from the problems, or their responsibility.... About interviewer side- It is important to understand exactly what does person who gives interview is saying...this is why she was re-asking her over and over..I could not draw a whole picture by short sentence which Mrs. Eartha was using do describe her experience. Questions and answers helping to add more details to the story. You just see there what you want to see..disrespect... I saw just professional work.
"most of them" -i meant not most of the blacks, but most of who draw the race card.
+Euro-African Thank you so much for putting your mature thinking view under the highly unprofessional interview of dear dear MS. Kitts. I'm a retired photojournalist for the Navy. I would have done my homework!! Especially if I was granted an interview with MS. Kitts! To me it would have been better than an interview with the queen or president, etc. I thank you because you immediately said what I was dying to shout out, and I came to the comments area very angry. What a dope that woman was. Thank You for your opinion! Listen to Santa Baby, we'll toast with eggnog to E. Kitts and the amazing contribution she made to our world! Happy Holidays! Coastal Georgia *****
They dont make people like her anymore!
mizike06
They do but they're called "sjw's" cause americans are still that racist
Yes, unfortunately, they do. Orphans still exist and they dont all become bad statistics. I'm an Orphan and anyone who knows me would tell you I'm a bad bitch and by that I mean I am strong, successful, independent and influential. We are made by being abused and neglected in the worst ways as children and still finding value in ourselves. The strongest steel is forged in the hottest fires. I been through the fire baby.
Sweet Baby Buddha preach! Abandoned kid here too! It makes you tough, and we don’t take shit. I rarely bring people into my inner circle, and trusting is not an option. I see you sweet baby Buddha, you aren’t alone 🤙🏾
ricecristi... I see you! There are very few people in my inner circle, due to trust issues as well, but I'll tell you right now that I immediately open my heart for my orphaned sisters and brothers. I do it cautiously, but I do it for them because, more than anyone, we need that love and acceptance. I hope you have found a path to healing. Please know that I love you and wish you the best. If you want to exchange contact info, I would be interested in getting to know you. It's rare for me to run into other orphans.
Such an elegant, classy, intelligent woman.
Always admired Eartha kitt,
She with stood being black balled.
Ms. Kitt did her own thinking.
Everything she went through made her stronger.
I think the interviewer was nervous. I would be too. Eartha Kitt is that chick! Rest in paradise. I hate she went through so much but it made her strong. I just love her.
Yet another Queen mother from the African diaspora!!! Blessing Eartha...
I have always thought Eartha Kitt to be beautiful and eloquent!
I really love Eartha. I look up to how strong and independent she was! I love how straight forward she is!
I Love Eartha Kitt, Very Beautiful Woman.
My Mom talked to kitt before she died and this lady was so fuckin strong its unbelievable she had indored so much pain i don't see how she lived to be 81 her true life story is so heart braking she was bleeding inside but had a hard shell that only the real could get thru ..i cry just thinking about the details of the shit that happened to her smh ...rip pretty lady forever loved by me personally
I absolutely love her.
What is an amazing woman she overcame a lot and became someone we can look up to as she shows her strength and shares her talents.
Her daughter is absolutely gorgeous and her granddaughter is a marvelous singer.
The interviewers tone and questions are rude. She asks questions and makes comments in a way that feels as if she's trying to disprove Eartha's story. Eartha was about two seconds away from telling her ass off.
slm22186 she the reason why black people are were they at now don't forget she was a strong civil rights fighter along with king and them.
white people always gets like that when it comes time to talk about slavery
I didn't think her tone was rude..Yes, she was in belief and obviously DIDN'T APPROVE of food being thrown at her. But I wonder if this boy did so , thinking he couldn't hand her food coz that would show kindness & get in trouble. Maybe he threw it at her so she'd have some sustenance while working hard. I don't think she was ready to tell her off, I think she was angry recalling how she was mistreated but was abandoned by her own family and abused by the person who end up raising her (her aunt ). Maybe the mother was attractive and the legit wife of the possible rapist (innocent til proven guilty) had her real mother send away. The way Eartha describes her mother sounded like she was attractive and tall. The Germans who were looking for her were obviously accepting of her, thinking she was their kin and she mentioned the white boy on the plantation "knew" (in reference to her being part white). it's sad the black church didn't accept ilegit children...back then, they thought they'd be going to hell for being ilegit or "a bastard." The then president was driven to tears by Eartha's speech against the war. later went to Europe and Asian where she was accepted. Both marriages she had were to white men. There were plenty of whites who saw Blacks as real people and some did love them. She went on the learn French, German and a few other languages. She was a super intelligent lady and hated the actions of certain people and was against racism and discrimination of any kind from all she lived! That's what intelligent people do...they don't turn around and behave in the same negative way they were treated.
She is so beautiful! And her testimony is so powerful!
What an awful existence for any human being to be treated as subhuman as Eartha Kitt was. She really went through a lot, and for her to be able to speak of her experiences with such candor and clarity says a lot for her inner strength, as well as her gifts of mental clarity and perspective. People today tend to see lighter skinned Blacks as somehow more "successful", "lucky", and more "acceptable", but this is not necessarily the case. The color thing is so twisted and perverted, and it explains why so many talented Black people of all hues gravitated towards lives and careers in Europe where color is not such a big deal. Europeans do have their racial issues as well, but they are not as pronounced as in the USA.
I discovered her today. I am devouring everything i can find about her, she's just so...TRUE. Majestic. I am in awe.. the plain matter of fact way with which she relates the cruelty she suffered injustly without a hint of resentment.. wow. That's an evolved human being right there!
Yes, to everything you wrote. She was such an exemplary human being.
I love the way she explains all her difficulties and the way she was treated in such a natural way. The interviewer asks for cruel details (throwing food) and she replies with the simple truth: they treated us like animals. She has nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of. Brave woman.
I just love this woman's voice. Always did. Such a unique voice when she speaks, I am loving it. Her singing was incredible. I miss her. So glad I came across this...
Eartha's resilience is unbreakable!
God bless you Eartha! Born an orphan rejected by both sides and you Wowed us all!!! Truly a child of God.
R.i.P beautiful Eartha.i remember watching her on tv as a child, stunningly gorgeous with an amazing voice 😊
I love everything about Eartha. It was few days ago when I saw a video of her for the first time, and now I adore her. What a magnificent woman.
RIP Eartha Kitt🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 WOW So she ended up with her biological Mother in New York at the end.
THANK GOD for ALL of the eyewitnesses to her situation in the south WHO KNEW where she was & KNEW WHERE HER REAL MOTHER WAS & SAID SOMETHING instead of minding their own business, turning a BLIND EYE while watching the child be killed & torchered.....
THANK GOD for the people that see something & say something.🏆
YES SHE WAS ONE OF A KIND NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE OR COME CLOSE TO PROTRACTE.MY COUSIN BECAUSE HER MOLD CAN'T BE DUPLICATE THE ONE AND ONLY LOVE YOU CITTEN R
I.P.I.H. WHERE THE BEST IS AT REST😘😘😘😘😘 BLESSED BY THE BEST
You speaking some good stuff 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Thank God someone didn't turn a blind eye and sent that letter to her aunt.
Multi-talented, intelligent, beautiful, humble, well-spoken, 100% class!
Love her persona, such a beautiful individual.
Beauty elegance and intelligence ❤️! R.I.P
So crazy that she is from South Carolina. I spent my college years in Orangeburg about 20-30 min from St.matthews .... I’m originally from florence sc.
What a woman, she never was afraid to lose empathy for tell the truth. I relate on her so much, what a great, strong human being. 🐧🌈
For a better palette 🎨 to mix colors.
+sharaxxvable I respect her for speaking her feelings at a White House luncheon which got her blacklisted in the US for like ten years. total respect for this lady. MY Christmas is never complete until I hear her iconic Santa Baby song :) and all her French music too :)
@@thejupiter2574 yep... Nixon didn't like her criticism and she paid a dear price
Bless her soul of light. Untold millions of children suffer similar and worse cruelty at the hands of ignorant, egotistical, and selfish, human beings. May she finally find her peace and bliss.
Who's here for Eartha in 2018?
Powerful🧑🏽🦱 I've felt the reverse.... So glad she shared her Truth👸🏽.... Such a Powerful Woman and an example of Defining Your Own Life💐 .
Would love to see Audra Day play Eartha Kitt, she would be great for her part. Her bio would be amazing with Audra Day the character. Eartha was amazing in cat woman. Her voice is so distinctive, I just love it.
2024 and still a beautiful woman she was, just legendary
She always was a well-rounded woman in entertainment and in life absolutely inspiring Legend
Eartha was ABSOLUTEY FANTASTIC as the voice too Yzma in The Emperor's New Grove.
I’m so mad but in spite of it all. GLORY TO GOD ANYHOW.
Hallelujah to the most high no matter what the devil destroyed or tried to take away, they couldn’t take away nothing glory to GOD.
Eatha bless her was an intelligent lady, and telling her story of the plantation fields of her and her mother worked on, enjoyed listening to her, very moving.
Eartha was such a class act. Great talent, extremely humble, and so intelligent. She is 100% right about "civilized" cultures destroying others they see as wild only for their descendants to try and "dig them up" after they realize the terrible mistake. The world needs more people like Eartha--genuine talents who aren't afraid to say what they feel. You were wonderful, Eartha. I wish I had the chance to see you in concert or meet you to thank you for the inspiration in person. RIP, great lady.
So elegant & poise.
Simply, Beautiful 😘😘😘
I love me some Eartha Kitt - The epitome of Class, Elegance, Grace & Strength! I wish they hadn't allowed a rookie to interview her. Eartha had to "save" her own interview...SMH
It would have driven me absolutely nuts to not know where I came from. This woman overcame so much. I know not everyone had the grit of this woman, but she is inspirational. She came from nothing, but she had audiences with great leaders of her time. Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth...We can't all achieve eminence, and we don't need to, but we need to all do the best we can with what we have, where we are, for however long we are stuck there. Your past doesn't have to hold you back. She easily could have died in the gutter somewhere, having achieved nothing. I was in jail recently and met my first meth addict, who was likely also making and selling meth. I felt so sorry for her. She didn't admit to the charge of having drugs for resale, but she also didn't admit to using meth, although she was covered with scabs. A girl on there for her second DUI offense readily accepted responsibility for her actions. She was there because of the choices she had made. She's just lucky she didn't kill anyone. People don't think about how their choices can hurt others, and they don't even think about how they are hurting themselves. I wish there were easy answers. I told them that I didn't have any substance abuse problems, but I had struggled with emotional problems. All of these things boil down to self-control issues. We all have something we struggle with or else that we should. Pride is a big one, as my preacher talked about this last Sunday.
+Lydia Hubbell Very well put! Too Bad you couldn't have done her interview. I wish they would have turned up the mike too! Happy Holidays! JL
Thank you for sharing your truth, and I hope you have gotten things together.
Unfortunately that’s most of blacks today. I’m 33 and all I know is that my family came from South Carolina and North Carolina as slaves. They don’t keep our records past my grandmas parents and I was born in 85
Sad huh yep
I will always admire This 💪👼
Beautiful ,Smart ,Talented Woman Rest in Heaven Earth Kitt 💐😻
She was and will always be a wonderful woman. A wonderful Human Being.
The interviewer was getting on my nerves, she damn well know how they treated blacks .
The elegance and class projected by our older stars is remarkable and uplifting
Eartha Kitt will always be a phenomenal woman... 👑🙌🏾💖🌹😍🖤📿💎 As well as a very intelligent woman!!! Ase'🙌🏾🙏🏾✊🏾🖤💗
What a woman and human being! Gloriously resilient and incredibly talented...
Wow who could we get to play her in a movie? Nobody can do the KIT KAT like she did. She is arthritic!! The voice and all U know I AIN'T lying. Even the other Kat women couldn't doooo that purrrr so puuuurrrfect!! And her laugh. Her gift broke the mode. We miss her we miss one of a kind. Bless everyone that came in this world and invented or did so much to leave the footprints they did for the world. They all had their Triumph but we are all human and deserve to enjoy our own lives. This lady is still one of a KIT KIND. The best BLACQUE cat in the world!! As like she used to be a KAT before she became Kit or the life after this one she will come back as one. My humor but she's that good She was that great. Remember a part of a beautiful History.
I love her! She's so amazing.
She's beautiful! As is Kitt her daughter.
Cat lady.... I love to hear her purr , it was so sexy and so was she. Eartha kitt will never be forgotten..,..🤗
Eartha is such a beautiful womem. So sad she had a terrible upbringing, but look how amazing she is....she's strong, brave, intelligent and beautiful.
"I Am So Supportive & "In Tune" With Eartha In This Particular Interview. I Too Can Seriously Relate To Being Ostracized, Rejected & Rudely Treated By My Black Peers & Even Black Church People Growing Up In The South In Georgia. I Was Discriminated Against More Often By My Black Peers For Being Half Native American Then I Ever Was By White People In The South. My Personal Experience Ran From 1976 Until This Very Day Of 2014." ~Windwalker
Sarena White UR DEFENDING EARTHAS STORIES AND BEING HALF NATIVE AMERICAN (U CLAIM) & HALF AFRICAN U MUST LOOK LIKE EARTHA INCLUDING HER EARLY FOTOS BEFORE HER SKIN BLEACHING. LOL.
How sad that many black people refuse to believe they can do any wrong. Quit watching Roots on repeat and research history as it was. Not every white person is the devil and wants you to suffer. Maybe the majority want to live, love and smile with you?
I wonder what a DNA ancestry test would have shown. More so, I wonder what she would have had to say about it.
The trauma this beautiful woman endured is painful to hear. I’m just now latching onto Eartha Kitt. My parents knew of her of course . I admire Eartha Kitt & the old heads.
Love this woman. A force of nature. So captivating.
Love her voice...😍
You got to love Eartha😍😙❤
Incredibly amazing lady.
I am astoundingly grateful to have come across this interview of Ms. Eartha Kitty!
Bless this woman!
What an amazing testimony! She overcame so much horrible treatment all throughout her life to become a Magnificent Icon.
My God, how graceful, elegant, sophisticated, deep, brave, majestic, courageous, unbelievable life. How many can claim this respect Eartha a million times over
Love this woman's wisdom and knowledge.
She spoke at least 4 languages fluently, yet never finished High School! Amazing!
It can be done.....College is not everything as long as you have World Experienced. Most Americans have college and are less educated then a catfish or a mule (actually a mule has more intelligent)
Debra Williams wow! 💛
@@hlatino03 go to sth east asia. You'll regularly see people fluent in 3 and they haven't much formal education.
She spoke 11
or 13 I forget but 11 sticks out
Debra Williams one can learn languages by submersion. A formal education isn’t needed. But yes it’s still amazing.
