40 years ago, when I was in college, I've had the blessing and the pleasure of meeting Eartha Kitt at a play she was doing called, "Timbuktu". She was the first African-American Catwoman on "Batman"!!! Eartha was one of the most beautiful, trailblazing women I've ever met!!! I've told her that I've been a fan of hers ever since she played Catwoman!!! And she did her signature growl!!! Needless to say, I've almost fainted!!! Ms. Eartha Mae Kitt, North, South Carolina's Greatest Export!!! Imitated by many, duplicated by damn few!!!!!
How cool that you met such an icon. What an honor and blessing!!!!❤ I had the honor of meeting Judith Jameison-so I know how you feel. It's an awesome feeling to have met greatness💓.

Eartha Kitt made Lady Bird Johnson cry during a 1968 White House luncheon when Kitt criticized the Vietnam War and spoke out against juvenile crime: Kitt's speech Kitt told Johnson that the war was causing young people to rebel in the streets and not go to school. She made mistakes with who she politically sided with. She was for Ho Chi Minh during the Vietnam War. Ken Burns showed in his book on Vietnam that the North Vietnamese murdered many thousands of landowners just to get their land.
Yeah, that was interesting, but then Annie Lennox was carbon copy of Grace Jones, and they never did a duo or mashup either. So yeah, and this reminds me of where Lil Nas May have got his idea for Industry Baby. So weird I never saw this when I was coming up, because I was actually a fan! Gotta love that YouTUBE.
I have always loved Eartha's gravelly powerful voice, since i first heard her as a child. And her name always fascinated me, adding to the delight & intrigue! Cheers, 🍷 and thank you for posting this! 🎉
again, another one with no sense of History. Eartha Kitt was a major player in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950's to the point that it got her blackballed in America and she had to go to Europe to keep her career going, it wasn't until the 1980's that she returned to the World Stage from Europe and America suddenly rediscovered their darling sweet heart, Miss Eartha Kitt. she's not Under Appreciated, perhaps by the current herd of anthropoid hominids, but 'In The Day' she was a very well known and appreciated performer, humanitarian.
So underappreciated. No one was ready for her ironic humor and unabashed female sexuality. Even "feminists" don't really like it cuz she's too "straight" lol. She was also "cancelled" by LBJ and the FBI for speaking out against the Vietnam War just when her star was rising.

When did she pass away, I met Adam West and Yvonne Craig in person at a convention in NJ, less then 15 months before Yvonne (Batgirl) Craig passed away.
I got to see a recording of a performance of I Wanna Be Evil from a couple of years before she died and she was just fantastic. It seemed like if she hadn't been able to do a really great job then she wouldn't have done it at all.
Jujubee did a wonderful Eartha Kitt on Drag Race. Hoping it got a lot of young ones to look her up! Drag Race has introduced me to old music and new music that's now MY music! And anyone underestimating the talents of Ru's Girls needs to think again. There is only one Ms. Kitt, but that in no way diminishes the talents of impersonators. No kidding---the caliber of talent coming out of Drag Race in all its international franchises is PHENOMENAL. Singers, actors, dancers, writers, choreographers, makeup and hair artistes. And the costume design!!! Some performers construct everything they wear themselves. I am obsessed with the art and artists of drag. They have introduced the stars of the past to a whole new audience. Hey, if I have Ima Sumak on my playlist you can be assured Drag Race is bringing attention to the past in a loving, celebratory way. I've never missed an episode.
She was the original Catwoman on the old 60's Batman Series. That's how I first learned of her. Dad filled me in on her history as he did for a lot of stars of the them past. He saw a lot of movies in his dating years as he was a very popular boy in his tiny rural Montana community. The basketball team consisted of every boy in the high school. All 8 of them. Somehow he knew about the female stars but didn't have much to say about the men. My dear daddy liked women and respected them. Good thing too because he and Mom had 4 daughters!

Her cat growls omg her voice!! She was a cat in her past life u swear
At what point of the song so I can listen for it when my husband and child give me some time to breath after dinner tonight lol.
She's catwoman before
She was a goddess, the living incarnation of Bast.
Given that she played Yzma, who turned into a cat in the end, I'm not surprised.
She was Catwoman for crying out loud

she was a total high camp and outrageous diva 70s 80s. RIP EARTHA.x

I wish she and Grace Jones had done a video together. They didn't even have lines together in Boomerang and that was such a crime.
U right
Eartha did do a cover of Grace's "Do or die," but it's a pity they didn't make it a duet. That would have been amazing!
Right! I listen to both of their music daily as i get ready! Boomerang changed my life as a child ❣️👌🏾🎰
