Saddest part about this scene is that they got straight up countered from specific monsters from the information they got from one of the scientists.
If newt had better foresight, those Jaegers would've Held for far longer and killed so much more kaiju, but no, despite his intellect, he fucked up

If you watched the movie you'd know that one of the Scientists who made these Jaegers Mind Linked with a Kaiju brain to gain information, little did he know the kaiju brain was still linked back to the enemy, giving them information as well on how to counter the Jaegers
Acid = for Cherno's thick armor
Claw tail = outrange Crimson typhoon and crush its weak head
EMP = (You can figure this out)
Note that the other Kaijus did not have any of these traits beforehand, they were all just generally big creatures with toxic blood
This was the FIRST INSTANCE, they came through the breach with special adaptations as complex as an acid gland and EMP

One little detail I loved about this scene is the contrast between how nimbly Striker Eureka moves compared to the other 3 Jaegers. Even Crimson Typhoon only being one generation behind doesn't move nearly as articulately as Striker Eureka.
Also adds up, seeing how easily Stryker took on Otachi (which, as far as I know, was sent specifically to counter Cherno's heavy armour with its acid spit and Crimson's extra limb with its tail) Leatherback was meant to counter Stryker's electronic-based build with its emp attack, but Stryker was just too fast for otachi to keep up with, which is why it got its ass whooped after dealing with Cherno and Crimson so easily
Strike Eureka is the latest development, its tech surpassed previous Jaegers. its only weakness is the EMP Leatherback unleashed, which was probably unseen because who knew these aliens can weaponize EMP.

@@SnazdrAgon Yeah I think that's just multiple factors at play. Most of them just coming down to bad writing to be completely honest. Crimson Typhoon went down with far too little of a fight, and in the stupidest way possible. There is no way the crew of a Mark IV Jaeger would let their Conn-Pod be crushed so easily. If Crimson Typhoon had a realistically competent crew then Striker Eureka holding the rear until Leatherback was spotted would have worked.
And no one realistically design the crew compartment in the fucking head, it would be in the chest: the most heavily armoured part.@@alarminglyfastmovingskelet7289
This masterpiece really crushed Russia and China, I wish Cherno and Crimson had more scenes, these 2 jaegers are really unique, they don't even show off their entire arsenals.
Cherno Alpha was the coolest-looking of all the Jaegers.

The plot already said so when they linked into kaijus brain. They know they're fighting a specific kaiju made to counter them
what I liked about the 1st movie is the physics is more realistic than the Uprising. you can feel the weight of impact and the movement of both Jaegers, Kaijus and environmental stuff. i can't feel that on the Uprising like it wasn't even there

@@munkitchew5829 Considering the structural strength of the metal the Jagers were made of, unless they were made of Plot armor anyway, they'd collapse under their own mass. It's a live action Anime Mecha film where giant robots fight kaiju, quite trying to apply real science to it and enjoy the fantasy.

Those punches felt so strong that it made me wondering how a mark 1 jaeger can stand up for awhile against highly adapted kaijus
Just 4 punches in this movie, but those punches sure goes straight towards our heart
The place where this film shines brightest to me is in the weight. The animation never fails to convey that each punch carries hundreds of tons of weight and crosses hundreds of meters. The Kaiju always feel extremely tough, even when they’re being beaten. You never forgot the scale of these battles, and that’s something that some genuinely wonderful mecha series miss.
Great points. Also, the action moves slow enough so that you can understand what is happening. Everything makes sense. There is a logic to the fighting.
Precisely. And that's exactly what I hated about the 2nd movie. The Jaegers in Uprising look/feel TOO agile and athletic. It lost that sense of massive weight and power behind the Jaegar's movements, the kind of energy it takes to move that much metal and mass. It gave Uprising the feel of a mecha movie more than a kaiju movie. That's not BAD on its own (mecha movies are amazing if done well too), but it made the movie feel unrealistic and overall gave it a very different feel compared to the first movie.
There is just something with how striker powering up in this scene 2:18 , you could definitely hear how advance she is, such a beauty
People took it more as Striker's engines and pistons straining from Accelerating such a massive mech
Adds realism as no matter how advanced the tech is, moving something so heavy and massive requires a lot

I love the fact that when a Jaeger is fighting the "anthem" of its country plays in the background, like when the Russian Jaeger fights the Kaiju there are the classic russian deep choir voices on the background, that is a beautiful detail
And the mongol throat sing while Crimson Typhoon does it!
I gotta say the music for the first PAcific Rim was magical as well as the action. I wished the second movie would've been as good, but sequels never tend to do well.

The theme was brilliant. It’s powerful, yet subtle and matter of fact. It says that this war has been going on for a long time and today is just another day on the job.
i remember when i went to see this movie i was expecting giant robots destroying giant monsters and thats EXACTLY WHAT WE GOT. there was a lot of people saying "plot this, plot that" idk man i got exactly what i wanted and i enjoyed it a loot
Yeah, unlike the 2nd and 3rd Monsterverse Godzilla movies where the plot/human-side stories completely distract you from the monster fights, Pacific Rim's was simple but effectively lead you from one set piece to another

I remember seeing this in theaters. To me 2:29 was and still is one of the coolest moments in any movie I’ve seen to date.
Really a huge fan of this film. Even if a lot of the plot made no sense. Jaegars were working less and less so their solution was to build a wall? And hope the Kaiju would simply see the wall and leave? Even the film itself shows the walls only lasting seconds. The world's leaders constantly underestimated the Kaijus as simply monsters having wandered onto earn accidently, who's attacks are random and without malice or intent. They could not have been more wrong.
They should have been building category 5 Jaegers with Lazer swords, Bazookas, everything. Take all the weapons you can think off and stick em all on.
It was an allegory for climate change, instead of proactively doing anything about the increasingly powerful kaiju (who are classified categories 1 through 5 like hurricanes), the government tries to build sea walls, but those fail to match the rapid-increasing intensity of the threat coming from the ocean.
It's entirely accurate because politics really are this dumb. Whatever country you're from, I guarantee you can find some political decision that's about as stupid as this.
walls give a greater illusion of safety, the jaegers only gave people hope. a government needs both to stay in power basically
Actually the wall lasted like 10 hours, put some guns on that wall and it would work pretty well. I always find it funny watching these and seeing cannons not do anything? 120mm APFSDS goes through 600 mm of steel, you telling me it would really struggle against some thick skin?

Now im as American and patriotic as they come, but when Cherno Alpha at 1:32 comes in, I cant help but get the chills. The music that plays feels so Soviet Era like. Cherno Alphas whole vibe just screams Soviet Era Russia, and as a man i cant help but admire the way soviet russia did everything. The fact that they got the nuke that Striker Eureka carries from Russia just by asking is pretty Russia like too.
I hate how Crimson and Cherno got killed off so easily. They are both said in the movie to be some of the greatest but died off so easily.
That's script editing for ya. Not enough time in the film for multiple protagonists for the audience to be invested in, so they pare it all down to one.

The idiot connected his brain to Kaiju's brain and gave Precusor everything they needed to counter them. Before that incident Precusors very horrified because they though those Jeagers are giants wearing heavy armor. After received full information they realized its just a mechanical and knew how to destroy it.

They should use this in film school to show how you can use copious amounts of CGI, and make the viewer forget it’s all CGI.
What I love about Gipsy compared to all the Jaegers is that it specifically targets the strength spots to disarm the enemy. When fighting Leatherback he instantly got to it's back, ripped the EMP off, then they used their intelligence to out strength it and take it down. Otachi; Gispy ripped the acid pouch out, and broke the Kaiju's tail, showing signs of intelligence and adaptation in a fight is super dope
tbf, gypsy got informations from the others, so it's just an information war, the kaiju fucked up hard because they didn't think about humans repairing Jaegers that they have beaten.
@@saif-gv6glMight also be how Raleigh has experience in situations like this. He knows how to fight and use the situation to his advantage. As Mako said, he’s unpredictable, probably making him more effective against Kaiju considering his unpredictability.

Raleigh and Mako were superior and innovative fighters. They were willing to take risks and could think and fight outside the box. The Kaiju were unable to anticipate this type of unorthodox attack and were unprepared. Using the coolant to freeze the Kaiju’s tail and the reactor to burn a hole through another Kaiju = Brilliant!

Good god I just love all the tiny details especially the interfaces and the nuclear tech Jaegers. The details on Gypsy and Cherno as they were igniting their reactors, the joints unlocking, and the tanker ship like sound effects as they move

God, thank you for creating Guillermo Del Toro. 11 years after the release, I'm reviewing excerpts from this film and pissing myself with happiness like a little child. How cool it was done, there are no words.
I love how in the span of 1:57 to 2:32 (35 seconds), Otachi single-handedly manages to decapitate Crimson, then proceed to absolutely maul and dismember Cherno.
Would love to see a prequel showcasing how CA and CT became so decorated and not being so easily hard-countered.

They were preventing striker from mobilizing because they needed her to carry the Nuclear payload they were bringing to the breach, so she's kind of just there as a Bulwark should Cherno and Crimson Fall
But yes, i agree, if they had let Striker assist, Cherno and Crimson would likely still be alive, Otachi butchered at the coast leaving Leatherback to get Brutalized by Gypsy danger
I love how because of the brain link between the scientist and the kaijus it caused the Kaiju to develop adaptations that directly countered the jeagers like Cherno, striker and crimson, however they never counted for the fact that gipsy survived and that’s why they lost.
Otachi survived getting beaten up by 4 jeagers, having its throat cut multiple times, having its tail frozen off and having part of its guts ripped out and remained a threat till the very end

Everything CGI looks better at night. Also its hard to believe those massive machines are lifted by those helicopters.
Its lot cheaper to make it at night, cause there is more black and no need to put so much color. About the helicopter one is fictional. The most chinook can lift is 50 tons. But yeager weight more than 2000 tons

Using containers to smash a kaiju's head when you're a jeager built with the hardest metals on earth is like slapping someone with a feather instead of your hand.
The point is to add mass to your punch, thus harder blows. It’s common knowledge

As much as I love this movie - I cant help but think that the monsters are most easily dealt with by firing missles and dropping bombs on them. I mean why do we need to build giant robots just to punch them to death
Intro showed that conventional arms killed kaijus, but were death by a thousand cuts, taking days and wrecking large regions
Jaegers were massive concentrations of firepower like battleships - tanking damage and stopping Kaijus from coming inland
They mainly punched, because Kaiju blood was radioactive/toxic and dropping bombs desolated large areas with Kaiju blood. Killing them with blunt force minimized the irradiation from spilt blood

@@iamtanmay Sure, but it is also clearly showed they developed weapons that are usefull against it. Weapons that can be placed on "regular" mobile platforms (like the energy weapon used in this shot).
well efficiency is not cool. You see that gun the robot shot at the end. Why not have like 100s of those guns around cities. Because that's not cool. Movies need to be cool.

I sure love plot armor. Why in the hell did crimson typhoon throw the Kaiju when it had a third arm with a still spinning blade? Crimson could've just gutted the Kaiju since its hands were occupied. and 2v1ed the electro Kaiju.
The back arm is mainly meant for protecting the back and the position that they were in was too awkward to do much damage so they immediately gave their problem to cherno alpha
I mean would you want to polute your ocean with some kaiju blood and vomit when you think you're winning? Probably no, since most of the weaponry on jaegers are kinda last resort.
They did do Typhoon and Cherno dirty, they really should've held off better

They do play fast and loose with the depth, but you only really need knee deep water to be submetged when laying down. It's inconsistent, but not that inconsistent
You ever stood head out in not deep water? They're standing, the animals are swimming, imagine a crocodile swimming in water then pouncing when needed
it’s also possible that they’re fighting near crevices/ravines/whatever they’re called under the water or near the continental shelf. That’s mostly just trying to explain away some Rule of Cool with facts in hindsight though.

I love that it's implied that these are really good pilots, and the only reason the Kaijus won is because they were literally created after many iterations to kill the Jaegers.

Cherno is such an absolute unit, that the precursors had to resort cheap tactics( double teaming)to take it down.
Personally i would have focussed on creating orbital death lasers not punchy robots.

That is very true. However GvK really started walking in that Uprising direction and GxK seems to have completely embraced the video game quality physics of Uprising.

really shows how skilled the crew is when they can make such a bulky and slow jaeger look really fast
this scene is ridiculous stupid, they have 3 robots agaist 2 kaijus, sure lets send only 2 robots and let the 3rd one watch. You got rockets, plasma weapons, guns but chose to engage in melee combat primarily. Kaijus take out 2 jaegers and just circle around the 3rd one until his buddies show up half an hour later, genius.

I want a prequel to this movie, as impossible as that would be, i just want to see what cherno Alpha could do in its prime, like absolutely haymaker some kaiju. Plus, we'd get to see those "Mk.1 glory days" and a ton of awesome rougher designs from the early years. There's plenty of lore to do it with as well, they mentioned hitting the breach before, lets see that.
Watching Cherno and Crimson get clapped will never stop being awsome!

I'm not going to lie that with humans it makes the fight a lot more painful than it already is, idk it seems like it gives more desperation and tension for the pilots to face giant monsters, but without the humans and seeing everything happen fluidly is pretty cool too.
Part 1 is better than part 2 😮, this movie is epic
I like the attention to detail when cherno (the goat of all time) starts to get up after being knocked down by otachi you can hear the gears since he’s the oldest jeager he’s not as small, slim and flexible as the others (since they aren’t mark 1s)
When gypsy danger turned around to double tap leatherback, everyone in the theater cheered.
Cherno Alpha probably coulda killed Otachi if he didn't get cusom teamed on

Crimson Typhoon,Cherno Alpha and November Ajax we need to see more and they should rebuild the jaegers who had fallen. Or even try but I miss Striker Eureka
while other jaegers are like gundam. Cherno Alpha is just a literal tank with arms and legs.

Honesty for a second. I “REALLY” wish they would reboot this series and try again with a second movie. Try again! If monster movies like Godzilla or Kong can make come backs then Pacific Rim absolutely can!
I like how they pick up stuff that's less durable than themselves to attempt to injure the enemy and it works. Not much in these scenes makes sense. But it's still cool.
