He said when he was in the hospital going through Leukemia treatment that it was his body telling him it had a spell on him. Puts a whole new spin on the lyrics.
The song he did dedicate to himself in a way, he’s battling leukemia, and he felt that the disease had put a spell on him. My prayers for a full recovery. 💯🙏🏼
I love this version and knowing why he did it makes it even more special. This is what he wrote under the description of the song which had some footage from when he was at the hospital during his chemo treatment 3 yrs ago. Thankfully he is cancer free now. "I brought my guitar to the hospital when I was undergoing chemotherapy and started playing this song. It was like my body was singing this to me "I put a spell on you, because you're mine"... It was showing me its power, that I'm nothing without my health. I knew I had to record an acoustic version of this song at some point and here it is, with footage from my time at the hospital. "
Eric had been fighting leukemia and even though he isn’t remission his immune system is recovering. He’s saying this song in defiance of cancer. Many blessings to Eric for a full and total recovery. 💯🙏🏼
He got diagnosed with leucemia 2021 he got a bone marrow transplant and is now free from cancer. But still has abit of bad immune system. Thats why he left Skid Row
"I Put a Spell on You" is a 1956 song written and recorded by "Screamin' Jay" Hawkins. The selection became a classic cult song, covered by a variety of artists. It was Hawkins' greatest commercial success, reportedly surpassing a million copies in sales,[5][6] even though it failed to make the Billboard pop or R&B charts.[7][8] Hawkins' recording of it was selected as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. It was also included in Robert Christgau's "Basic Record Library" of 1950s and 1960s recordings-published in Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies (1981)[9]-and ranked No. 313 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
Ok, i was already liking Erik a LOT, but this.....OMG!!! I was NOT prepared for THIS. Following this, you could do his duet with Dan Vasc covering 'We all die young' - it's AMAZING.
Eric is one of my favorite metal/ rock singers in the world. We have another guy in Sweden that’s amazing too, Tommy Johansson. You should give him a listen too
You should listen to Erik Grönwall sing Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, it's the best cover I heard since Whitney Huston did her cover in the movie Bodyguard. You should even look/listen to him sing Mariah Carey's Without You, John Farnham's You're the voice, Eric Carmen's (Celine Dion) All by myself, Oh Holy Night and The Animals House of the rising sun, they are also truly amazing! In 2009, Erik won Swedish Idol and performed the specially written song Higher in the final. On March 23, 2022, it was announced by Eddie Trunk that Grönwall is replacing ZP Theart as the lead singer of Skid Row. In March 2024, Erik announced that he was leaving Skid Row for health reasons after being diagnosed with leukemia. His first single, "Higher", reached gold on digital downloads after only three days. His debut album, self-titled Erik Grönwall, was released just ten days after the finals and debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and was certified platinum. Both as a solo artist and band member, Grönwall has numerous top 40 hits.
Angelina Jordan covered this when she was 9 years old. Based on Screaming J Hawkins original version. This sounds like Guns and Rose's with David Guilmore on guitar. Not bad though 🤘
The version I heard was an African American man from the 50's. I love that one the best. I do get the blues guitar but I don't dig the rock vocals. The vocals are good but not my cup of tea.
Hey! Thank you very much sir for your reaction - I really enjoyed it. 🙏
Eric, you're a humble man with a phenomenonal talent. I'm working on humility and boss, you inspire me. ✝️
SUCH A PLEASURE

Gracious god... I hope he's doing better now!
Addendum: I have just read in another comment that this is the case. Let's rejoice.

You need to listen to Tommy Johansson. You will be amazed.
This is AMAZING!

They are both phenomenal. In fact, they have collaborated on at least one song, maybe more. Jarkko Ahola of Finland is awesome, too.
@ I need to check him up. Thank you
Love this, som good, he is unic ❤❤❤
He’s recovering from leukemia

Wow!!!!❤
Phenomenal -- both he/they and you! Thank you very much.
BUT: You're really missing out if you don't listen to the CCR rendition.
Possibly the best version of that song.
Angelina Jordan covered this when she was 9 years old.
Based on Screaming J Hawkins original version.
This sounds like Guns and Rose's
with David Guilmore on guitar.
Not bad though 🤘
Definitely check out CCR's version if you liked this version. CCR was an amazing band!
But original with screaming Jay Hawkings is the best!!!
❤
En magisk version ❤️
❤❤❤
CCR creedence Clearwater revival
So many people and so many ways of doing this song. It is ok.
Think you missed when Erik sings a cover of Numb, th-cam.com/video/BbmS3jptpLc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=g3ev8-tzCJDpGXJO
Check it out!!❤
My favourite cover of I put a Spell on you is by Marilyn Manson 1995

?
Hey you received my suggestions via PayPal on 22 nov? For the 2 pac songs ?
This is a cover of a cover unless we say the original
You should listen to credence Clearwater revival , aka ccr.
bro you should listen to SMITH & MYERS - UNCHAINED MELODY front singer and guitarist from shinedown.. it will blow your mind
This is good a version along with Annie Lennox's....
Screamin' Jay Hawkins - NOT CCR
Ngl I need my guy to react to the Kendrick Lamar album like now I needs those reactions lol
Ik this is random but you gotta react to Lil kim "Big momma thangs"
The version I heard was an African American man from the 50's. I love that one the best. I do get the blues guitar but I don't dig the rock vocals. The vocals are good but not my cup of tea.
Same here - I like his voice but just feel the song needs a bit more of a subdued “bluesy” delivery
Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Wrong. It’s a screaming jay Hawkins song. And he’s better than this
These guys?
@ I stopped watching it cause it was just not close to being as good and didn’t see who this was
@@MrGmonkeywillruleyou 'some people are tonedeaf'
Nope.
well now this was great but not as good as the original wich is awsome and sung by females sry but that is the truth
You’re calling Screaming Jay Hawkins female?
