As someone who studied piano at the conservatory this hit me on a deep level. Classical music turned into something that can feel like a cage. It's like everybody forgot that music heroes like Bach were also great improvisers and learned music theory to then use it to create. And we get raised as mere executors! But rock, blues and jazz can still provide us the freedom to express the music we have inside
True. Yeah musicians of the baroque all improvised. There's I think a bach trumpet concert where the 2nd movement is just 2 notes, and you were supposed to imrpovise there. Nowadays they just play the two notes. I can relate to this because I study at a conservatory, currently in grade 6 as a classical guitarist. Fortunately, they have an improvisation class there with an awesome jazz professor. I mean I love classical music too, and my classical guitar professor is also awesome but... hell this video is good
Agree, but one can also play bach and improvise in classical style, or compose or improvise in bassically every style you want. I studied composition at conservatory and it was such a joke
What do you mean exactly? They don't teach you theory? I would assume the school would base the performance on the technical execution rather than how good it sounded.
Yes, they teach us theory, but they don't teach us how to apply it practically to make music, and don't encourage us to do so, we approach every piece in an unpersonal way, execution must be precise because we are not great musicians yet, so we don't have the authority to interpret things. The problem is more generic and is in the way Classic music is seen today, like It Just belongs to the past, frozen on the paper. Why can't we just jam together and groove like during the baroque or improvvise a romantic waltz to make friends dance at parties? xD
@mejiadiver at the end of the day you should live the way you truly want to. Yes mortality is depressing. But music is life and heals all wounds! Enjoy the bizarre Lucas and his lovely playing and smile ! 😃
Lucas so commited to the video idea that he locked himself in the basement for real, that's why we haven't seen that much uploads lately. Hats off to you Lucas!
The first time, I heard this video, I thought it was funny, but, now, I understand it's more serious and delivering more sense and feelings that I knew at the beginning. I appreciate your work, LUCAS, and the way you do it very properly. J'aime beaucoup le fond et la forme de tes productions videos et musicales.
The same thing happened to me. I studied classical guitar for 7 year non completing the conservatory but when I discover music my life changed. It's more powerful for expressing cause blues is what you feel inside either positive either negative. It could sound strange but in many case blues helped me in some depression or failure moment. I take my guitar e play blues.
The funny thing is, is that the blues are not depressing. I read somewhere that the Blues can cheer you up because the chord changes usually end on a Major uplifting chord.
I graduated from the conservatory in Russia. The video accurately conveys my fear of classical guitar school. And the strings are expensive( The video is awesome as always.
Dude! You are the funniest musician I ever knew (saw...) in my life 😊... Video is great, song is fantastic, your playing is always perfect and BTW that actually is BWV 999... I was studying BWV 884 (on the piano) then paused and found your video... so you can imagine how hilarious it was. My compliments 👏, Enrico 😊.
I love how your production keeps progressing into previously unattainable levels of silliness Just exactly what I expected when subscribed years ago! Keep the madness flowing m8!
The plot of the movie Crossroads. Pretty good movie, stars Stephen Vai, Ralf Machio and Jamie Gertz. The guitar duel between the Bluesman and Stephen Vai is worth the price of admission.
People who likes blues actually loves it on a deeper level. And what it bothers me is that I have never been able to fully understand it... but great content as usual!

Keep going, it's good!!!
We're glad you're back! Cheers from Brazil.
Prelude to death, Bach Would love it, made me a deja vu,😂😂
Excellent blues ,,, did you ever see "Who killed john o neil" ?
You cannot play the blues unless you’ve had your balls nailed to the railroad track by the KKK.

Watched this while high and did not regret
I started out sober but started to see colors as the video progressed.
😂😂😂
Lol same
Well done Lucas
This makes me go to another dimension
bro just casually dropped "is not death you should fear, is live a inauthentic life" and gone play blues
Brutal. Now I get to contemplate myself and ask if my life is authentic enough? I didn't wanna feel depressed. I wanted to laugh
@mejiadiver at the end of the day you should live the way you truly want to. Yes mortality is depressing. But music is life and heals all wounds! Enjoy the bizarre Lucas and his lovely playing and smile ! 😃
A masterclass ! You invented a new genre of youtube videos ! "The musical story short" or something like that ! What a banger...
Exactly!
Lucas so commited to the video idea that he locked himself in the basement for real, that's why we haven't seen that much uploads lately. Hats off to you Lucas!

"Pentatonic noodling is something you should only do at home" Omg, I choked on my coffee!
That's all you hear at any Guitar Shop
He is right though.
Nobody else combines skits and virtuoso level guitar playing that I know of other than Lucas!! Just so unique and amazing!

Take a look at Mateo Mancuso
@@CantoSinFronterasYup I love Matteo Mancuso's playing.
Do you know Bireli Lagrene and Sylvain Luc by any chance?
The level of chill I experience simply observing your right hand technique...astronomical. Giggles and jazzy wiggles, well done

I heard somewhere, that people like the blues because it usually ends in a Major Chord which is uplifting and gives you hope.

Wrong thumbnail. And as always I am instantly impressed and humbled how skilled your play is. Amazing!
Amen brother! Cheers to you and your great message! Thanks!
Great to have you back! And great video too!
That is why I love Eugen Cicero's jazz-classic tunes and wish there was more of it. Generally, fusing styles can have such nice results.
HYPE TRAIN! I was as excited as a young schoolboy to see a new Lucas video drop today, and it did not disappoint.
Lucas on a steel string! Didn't expect that. Great stuff
This is not just a video, this is an experience
Happy to see and hear Furch guitar here!
Love you, Lucas! "Oh that's easy, just play the Blues." Loved hearing you bend that note on your steel string guit!
This is just brilliant, sending mad respect and love your way Lucas!
Another "crossroads" type legend begins, in a most creative and entertaining presentation.✌️😎👍🇨🇦
full song for the end was amazing Thank you For the vids
BTW it's lovely to hear you on a steel-strung for a change. Though you always sound divine on a classical, you get a gorgeous tone on that song.
You are the only reason I listen to any blues. ❤️🔥
This was great. The whole thing.
That "Prelude to death" is a real Gem. Does include also some incredible licks. Just realize the 12 BrAR blues too...😅
The audience must have MELTED. I just did. I am writing as a spirital form.
Thank you Lucas, I needed this. Well done.
that bach piece really seems to be inspired on the theme song of leftovers
Have you just played beautiful Jazz cover of Bach, but it is blues?
