Yes, the temple is mind-blowing to see up close - not ornate but overpowering. I was there a few weeks ago and to see that rising up from the mist in one of the few large green areas left in New Delhi is most impressive. The architect is a Iranian-American Fariborz Sahba, who made the design and led construction in his 30s, building it for vastly less money that considered possible through a clever combination of local artisans, computer technology (of the 1970s and 1980s) and collaboration with many great minds as well as the local population (they had on-site daycare and schools for the workers' families). The opening dedication featured music by Ravi Shankar. Mr. Sabha then went on to design the nineteen terraces that opened in 2000 on the slopes of Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel at the Baha'i World Center (check that out - we were there also a few weeks ago).

Hi. So there is a lot of misinformation going on in this comment section. I was born and raised in a Baha’i family, I can say with complete honesty that it is based around love and unity. I am an atheist, for multiple reasons. Even with my beliefs my family has done nothing but respect me. One of the fundamental values of the Baha’i Faith is the personal investigation and application of truth. That means you should look with your own eyes instead of following others. Which is the only religion I’ve ever crossed with that value. The Baha’i Faith makes sense whether you like it or not. So don’t go assuming things you don’t understand. It’s not Scientology, it’s not an offshoot of Islam. Please stop attacking it.

    • @sunflowerrayne6026

It makes absolutely no sence. How can it make sense to have part of the Christian faith under it? Bible believing Christian's know the Truth and that is Jesus Christ being the only way into everlasting life.

    • @TrueFreedom4kindness
      @TrueFreedom4kindness 4 ปีที่แล้ว +58

Diana Vee Christ was the only way for that time. That’s the idea of progressive revelation, he was the only way. In the Bible it says to wait for the return of Christ right? Well Baha’is believe the returning of Christ came in the form in the other messengers of God. Look at the main religions in history. You will notice that they all have the “wait for another” in common.

Naser Emtesali Congratulations you have found one of the reasons I am no longer a Baha’i. The Baha’i Faith also doesn’t support gay marriage which is the main reason I’m not a Baha’i. There are flaws as in every religion. The writing say that there is a great reason for this that is yet to be revealed. You are correct with the Bab starting the Babi Faith. My entire point was to ask people to stop assuming things. You seem to know what you are taking about and I appreciate that a lot.

*Some lesser-known facts about the Baha'i Faith:*
      1) Women are not allowed to serve the most Supreme Administrative Body, the Universal House of Justice. So there is no Equality of Men and Women.
      2) Baha'is are working to establish a Baha'i inspired New World Order, a Baha'i Super-state, headquartered in Haifa, Israel.
      3) Baha'is shun (ex-communicate) Covenant-Breakers and execrate them.
      4) Baha'is persecute the so-called covenant-breakers, they have desecrated the grave of Diya'u'llah who was buried next to his father Baha'u'llah.
      5) Baha'is have as many as 15 splinter groups, sects.
      6) Baha'is have their religious text Copyrighted and religious symbols Trademarked.
      7) Baha'is teach their 'faith' everywhere except in Israel for unknown reasons!
      8) Baha'is lie regarding their population, they claim their population in India to be over 1.8 Million, while the government census of 2011, reveals their figure to be 4572.
      9) Baha'is selectively translate their writings for western audience and there is very heavy Baha'i censorship.
      10) There is no independent Baha'i Scholarship, all Baha'i texts need to be approved before publication.
      11) Baha'is see all other religions as corrupted and dead. They believe that every religion has a life of 1000 years. There is nothing like "unity of religions" - they believe their religion is superior to all other religions.
      12) Baha'is believe that Baha'u'llah is the sender of all prophets, the revealer of all holy books and Lord of the Lords!
      13) Babis (predecessors of Baha'is) have killed many Muslims in Iran. Baha'is have also killed a few Azalis.
      14) Baha'is believe their supreme body (The UHJ) to be infallible, they call it as 'Seat of God'!
      15) Baha'i guardian Shoghi Effendi was a closeted Homosexual, he used to spend months in Switzerland with Baha'i money.

Baha'i faith has some shared Dharmic values with so called Dharmic religions but it isn't exactly same teachings, for an instance from a far lens Baha'i seems a reformed Islam to some, to some a new world order, to some unity among all Abrahamic Faiths, but in near lens it's still very much Abrahamic, in Baha'i they still are against gay people being gay for an instance, idc if you are too, but don't fold words of dharama, Dharama has no problem with someone being homosexual, now Baha'is still do have that
Other instances it's not Dharama, it's strictly Abrahamic version of god, and doesn't have sense for cosmos, god isn't seperate from universe but is universe itself by being in every particle and everything.
Baha'is also don't have concept of atheist or nastik people, Dharama has whole sect of itself for atheists, atheism is another way to explain the world, world shouldn't fight among theists vs athiests, world should celebrate both, we need concepts that are understandable by science instead just faith sometimes

@@bruhmode3041 That is true ofcourse and that is why the Baha'i Faith is an independent religion than the Sanatan Dharma. However, the point is that there is a great deal of similarities between the 2 traditions. Moreover, you should know that the 6 schools of thought in the Sanatan Dharma came to their maturity through a timeline of centuries of debates. The Baha'i Faith on the other hand is a very young religion, its interpretation is standardised by the central figures and we don't have clergy. So the understanding of each of those concepts depends on the deepening and background of the individual believer.
Separation of cosmos and creation comes from the Advaita tradition of Shankaracharya. The dvaita tradition believes in duality of the Brahman and atman. The Baha'i Faith is compatible with both. However, any statement about metaphysics is considered limited to circumstances and perspectives in Baha'u'llah's writings. The Baha'i Faith focuses more on the Karma or actions which nourish the Dharma and Atma resulting in the progress of the Sansara. It does considers metaphysics to be of lesser importance than Karma.

That is the beauty of the Baha'i teachings. It holds the key with which you can see the different religions as coming from one source, and with one goal. It allows us to acknowledge the followers of the various faiths as brothers and sisters.
That goal has always been to learn what is our potential is as humans and then to achieve it.
When religious institutions are helping their followers to reach high standards of conduct and to show kindness, love to all, then they are doing their job. Otherwise they are not representing the ideals of their founders.
Each religion speaks of other religions to come and a time of gathering together, but the language used in religions to describe this has been difficult to interpret, leading to unrealistic expectations that have locked religious followers in doctrines that divide peoples and prevent universal brotherhood.
Again Baha'i teachings, for me at least, seem to have that key to show an overall plan in all the various religions, and a way forward to create a future world in which people can realize the highest and best that their religion inspires them to.

There will be a time when no world leader wants to govern their own country. It will be thay bad. And that is when Bahai Faith will save the world.

When researching the Bahá'í Faith, please do not limit yourself only to the officially-sanctioned literature of the Bahá'í Administrative Order.
      Here are a few observations...
      1) The Bahá'í Faith exists solely to perpetuate itself, 99% of its focus and activities are toward this one goal, growth in membership. Throughout their history they have been preparing their members for the "entry by troops" of new converts, which has yet to materialize. They do a minimal amount of humanitarian or charity work.
      2) Bahá'ís use terminology in ways that was not intended. Bahá'ís don't have censorship, they have "review." They don't proselytize, they "teach." They don't have missionaries, they have "pioneers." They don't have prophets, they are called "manifestations." And so forth.
      3) Bahá'ís have a "lo is us" sense of historical persecution. If you look at their history, though, most would call it just fruits. During the founding of the religion, the forebear Babi sect led a violent, apocalyptic revolution in Iran, and some of their members later attempted to assassinate the Shah. Their leadership were exiled to the Ottoman Empire where schismatic violence within the group later led to house arrest. Of course, this is all billed as being persecuted.
      4) Bahá'ís lament how others view them in a conspiratorial light, when in fact, again, this is based on historical reality. In Iran the Babis had the protection of the Russian ambassador (Russia being an imperial power that had seized wide swaths of territory from Iran and at one point the Russian ambassador had to approve Iranian cabinet ministers). In the Ottoman Empire, Bahá'ís conspired with the Young Turks, who deposed Sultan Abdul Hamid II in a coup. Later, they would assist the British, and their leader `Abdu'l-Bahá earned knighthood, being designated KBE. With their headquarters in Haifa, Bahá'ís have cooperated with the state of Israel, to the extent that some of the Bahá'í World Center buildings are built on land expropriated from absentee Palestinian land owners.
      5) Bahá'ís inflate their membership numbers. Comparing census data of various nations to self-reported data confirms this. The outside data Bahá'ís often cite, like from the Association of Religion Data Archives, only uses self-reported data, creating a circle.
      6) In the community I was a member of, even in the lifetime of Khomeini, there were Persian Bahá’ís who would regularly travel to Iran during their summer holidays to visit family. When I would ask them how that was possible, their response was always along the lines that the arrested Bahá’ís were those who were administratively and politically active, almost to the point of referring to them as "troublemakers." The Bahá’í Administrative Order uses these news stories of alleged persecution very astutely to generate media attention. A Google News search for the term "Bahá’í" shows a predominance of news stories regarding Bahá’í temples and discrimination. Otherwise, the Bahá’í Faith generates little to no interest.
      7) Bahá'ís initially hide from members some of the more unsavory realities of their religion. Men and women are equal, but women are barred from serving in the highest organ of the religion, the Universal House of Justice, and will presumably be barred from the local and national Houses of Justice that the current LSA's and NSA's will one day evolve into. The hierarchy is billed as being democratic, but only in the sense of council democracy as it still exists in Cuba where individuals elect local committees, who then elect national committees, who then elect the Universal House of Justice. There is a parallel appointed hierarchy. With no politicking or partisanship allowed, elected members in the higher ranks serve for life until they die or retire, and are subsequently replaced by nomenklatura.
      8) Bahá'ís hide from members some of the more unsavory realities of their history. After Bahá'u'lláh their leader was 'Abdu'l-Bahá and then Shoghi Effendi. By the time Shoghi Effendi died, all the living descendants of Bahá'u'lláh had been excommunicated from the religion for various offenses, including marrying a "lowborn Christian girl," a term he would later defend. Shoghi Effendi was also designated the "Guardian," by 'Abdu'l-Bahá. The Guardian was supposed to designated subsequent Guardians, but did not do so, although the entire Bahá'í administrative structure depended on it.
      9) Ignoring failed prophecies, like `Abdu'l-Bahá declaring the peace of the world to come by the year 2000. Those of us around in the 1980's and 1990's remember the crescendo, and the anticlimactic ignoring of reality and denial of the build up.
      10) Many Bahá'ís books have been posthumously rewritten to remove references to to failed prophecies and prominent individuals who left the Bahá'í Faith for various reasons. These rewrites are more than minor edits and constitute a different process than "Bahá'í review" which the euphemism used for pre-publication censorship.
      11) Bahá'ís claim earlier religions are valid, but in reality they only do this in an Islamic sense (i.e., the earlier revelation was perverted over time). For example, they deny the parts of Bible written by Paul. Or when Muhammad says he is the last prophet, Bahá'ís say that was true only for the Adamic Cycle, but now we are in the Bahá'í Cycle.
      12) The Universal House of Justice has noted that only "A fraction of the total numbers of unique works have been published in the original languages or translated into Western languages."
The Kitáb-i-Aqdas, the central book of the Bahá'í Faith written by Bahá'u'lláh, was only officially translated into English in 1992, by which time other translations, such as one by the Royal Asiatic Society, were becoming increasingly available through dissemination via the internet. My personal opinion is that the material in the Kitáb-i-Aqdas is so objectionable that the Bahá'í authorities wished to shield Western believers from its contents, as they do from Bahá'u'lláh's other works by not publishing the originals or providing translations.
      I could go on.

So according to Christianity, you’re guilty for the sins that some people committed untold ages ago, and the only way you can be forgiven for that sin is accepting God sacrificing His own son on a cross. *You know that can’t be a true religion.*

Background. The Bahá'í faith began to take its present form in 1844 in Iran. It grew out of the Shi'ite branch of the Muslim faith. The faith was proclaimed by a young Iranian, who called himself The Báb. This religion is basicly a sect of Islam, some even say its Islam "lite" version lol

Bahai is a false religion just by pure logic itself, we don't even have to bring in theology to see that. When one religion says that Christ is the son of God who died for our sins and the other says (Islam) that God (Allah) has no son and that Christ was only made to appear as if he was dead but in reality it was a look alike who was crucified then these two religions are contradicting each other, even Bahai can not unite them.

@@andrewtyler2747 so the official stance says and even says a view of the religion will be dropped if science disagrees with it. Yet today, in 2020, in modern civilization, members of the LGBTQ community are still not allowed to be open and affirmed in their life if they are Baha'i, even though it is very well accepted that homosexuality is a naturally occurring part of a large swathe of the species on this planet, including human beings.
Homosexuals in the Baha'i faith are considered sinful, and wrong unless they choose to be celibate. Meaning they can be a part of the faith only so long as they agree to completely subsume an entire part of themselves, and give up any hope of attaining the happiness of sharing their lives with someone they love.
So, yeah, please don't sit there and try to say the Baha'i faith embraces logic or science, or in any way promotes unity, or harmony, while it still stands in antagonism of any group on this planet.

There are openly gay Baha'is in the world, including one in my community whom we love dearly. @@andrewtyler2747 taken directly from Bahai.org
      ********************
The Bahá’í teachings on sexual morality center on marriage and the family as the bedrock of the whole structure of human society and are designed to protect and strengthen that divine institution. Bahá’í law thus restricts permissible sexual intercourse to that between a man and the woman to whom he is married.
In a letter written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi it is stated:
No matter how devoted and fine the love may be between people of the same sex, to let it find expression in sexual acts is wrong. To say that it is ideal is no excuse. Immorality of every sort is really forbidden by Bahá’u’lláh, and homosexual relationships He looks upon as such, besides being against nature. To be afflicted this way is a great burden to a conscientious soul. But through the advice and help of doctors, through a strong and determined effort, and through prayer, a soul can overcome this handicap.
Bahá’u’lláh makes provision for the Universal House of Justice to determine, according to the degree of the offense, penalties for adultery and sodomy (Q&A 49).
      *************************
Please, tell me again how I am misinterpreting the founding principles of the Baha'i faith.
Anecdotal evidence from your experience does not invalidate the fact that your religious institution violates the human rights of LGBTQ people by making their relationships less than fully accepted. They also violate the human rights of LGBTQ people by stating that being gay is an affliction, and that with help from doctors, with determined effort and prayer, a person may overcome the handicap.
Do you have any idea how absolutely disgusting that is? Do you have any idea how hurtful? To tell someone that their sexuality is wrong, and that if they want to practice your faith they have to put it aside and be alone for life is a violation of their basic humanity.
I am unable to find any information on Bahai.org or any other website that shows these highly inflammatory, discriminatory, and offensive views have changed. I have found no evidence that homosexual relationships are welcomed and affirmed int he Bahai faith, outside of your stating there are gay members of your Bahai community. Are those gay members in healthy loving relationship they are allowed to be open about? Are their relationships celebrated by the congregation the same way a heterosexual relationship would be? Are they welcome to seek marriage through your community?
Until these views are excised, and publically denounced by the leaders of your faith the LGBTQ community will rightly stand in opposition to those seeking our destruction, and the denial of spirituality to our people. Just saying they can't be discriminated against, or that they are accepted, but only if they don't have a sexual relationship because your faith restricts marriage to one man and one woman, and rejects all forms of sexual expression outside that extremely narrow limit, is not even close to saying they are accepted loved. It is saying they are tolerated.
