  • In this episode, I take you through taking out the front suspension on the LX 470. The parts that were taken out include; upper control arms, lower control arms, brakes, wheel bearings, and much more. Initially, this seemed like a daunting task; however, slowly but surely parts came off and now the new parts are ready to be installed. This is episode 1 of 3. In the next video I take out and install the rack and pinion. The last episode will be installing all new parts. If you have any questions feel free to leave them down in the comments or hit me up on my IG. Thanks for watching!

You had bad luck with that Lower Control Arm ball joint, most do come out with a mini sledge. Glad to see you changing the shock, it is something I anticipate doing soon. I feel for you with a vehicle that is low on the floor, it makes for some awkward positions. Great camera work. I know you open a can of worms when you do these repairs with a vehicle with a poor maintenance history. thanks again for sharing

Thank you so much for the comment. It's always an experience when working on things yourself for the first time. I'm happy to say that I have a whole new front suspension and everything has been great since the installation. It's amazing what new parts can do for your vehicle. Maybe one day I'll be able to get a lift. That would make working on these projects so much nicer. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting all these. Inheriting a family owned 2007 LX470 this week and been watching all your videos with plans to get tearing into it. Appreciate you posting.
On side note. I see the scrubs. You in medicine? ER here..

Thanks and you’re welcome. Sure am. Old cath lab scrubs when I used to do echo guidance for RV biopsies. They’ve been great for working on the Lexus. Any questions you have that I may not have covered in the video, I’ll be more than happy to help answer.

Thanks. There were some challenges with that lower control arm which frustrated me and caused me to not be as detailed with some of the disassembly. It really threw my timeframe off. Next video is rack and pinion being taken out and a new one back in. So far that video has been more detailed. I’m no longer on a timeframe, so hopefully the remaining two episodes will be more informative. Thanks for the comment!

Used a brass hammer on my studs. Worked much better than the brass punch and nut method.

A brass hammer... Never thought about that. After installing everything, I had to take off the flange due to an overlooked gasket and used a larger brass punch. It worked a lot better than previously. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm always looking for new tools and strategies to add to my mechanical experience.

@@TheNonnell yeah that front rotor/bearing change was a pita. Definitely learning a lot from you as well, thanks for all the effort! Need to change my lower control arm. I changed the uppers using a part from rock auto that had bearings pre-pressed. So far so good!

@@taylorwaylor87 that’s what I used. Majority of parts for the next video(reassembly) came from rockauto. The torque arm made the lower control arm a little tricky to do, but totally doable.

made an absolute mess of that ball joint. Why didnt you just wack the knuckle with a big hammer? Thats how they come apart.

😂. We tried it all, but thanks for the insight.

Great Video 🫡. Do you have parts info including prices?

Oh boy! I'm confident I can sift through some material and piece it together. Are there particular elements you're looking at?
