    Clare, what a fabulous outcome on all those prints! I really liked the one with the leek (who would have thought to do that!). The textile one with the scarf made me think of all the material I have that could do this (and old scarves which now will be redirected to my studio 😊)…and then I thought, “I need to make some textile plates with glue”…great idea!     Only found you today but I’m loving your work!
    This particular video made me smile - we were house & pet sitting a few months ago and the poo bag inners all came home with me with this use in mind! They worked out so well.

    I just discovered your channel and am inspired! I'm going to get out my hot glue gun and buy a leek this weekend. I've had my dog for just three months but I already have quite a collection of pooh bag centers. I knew they would be fantastic as an art tool! :-)!!

    Thanks for sharing Clare, I just started gelli printing this summer, I like using different things for texture, love the leek, as it reminds me of wood grain, with the 2 different tones, must get my hubby’s glue gun and do some texture plates.They’re all fab , the tassels could represent a waterfall, love the copper tone.😍

    A leek is one of my favorite vegetables for cooking, and it may well become one of my favorite art supplies! And I always thought the centers of pooh bag rolls were too cute to throw away. You have some very clever techniques up your sleeve, Clare. Thank you!

    love your creative use of leeks and finding patterns with interesting fringe. Can you explain what paper you use and why? Thank you

      Thank you, I use 160gsm cartridge paper. It’s just a little thicker than regular copy paper and takes the paint well, especially then I’m adding multiple layers. 🙂

    Your work is lovely. I am going to start again with mine. I tried using some flat-ish stones but they don’t really print well. Where do you get your cut stones? I can’t find any.

      Hi Clare, I'm not sure what you mean by cut stones? The pebbles I used during my other video are just pebbles that I have collected over the years from the beach. 😊

    Do the leeks make your print smell?

      No, they don’t make your prints smell. But if you forget and leave them in your studio (like I did), it’s not great the next morning 😂

    The leeks were my favourite. I love drawing, so any suggestions on how I could combine this with gelli printing, would be very grateful.

      Leeks are my favourite texture too! In my mixed media artwork I often draw into my Gelli prints. I like to define and highlight shapes using a white gel pen. I also use grey fine-liners to draw into my Gel prints. My absolute favourite is to draw into my Gel prints with free machine embroidery. Would you like me to put together a video of this?

      Suggestion: Use gel prints as backgrounds for your drawing, either draw directly on or collage/transfer your drawing onto the gel print using Matt medium

      A definition of art copied directly from the 'Oxford Languages' site is as follows:- 'the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power'. Obviously, there are individuals who feel Clare's work is art. And if you are judging what she creates from this video alone, then it may be wise to remember that this is a tutorial containing ideas for the creation of prints - not necessarily depicting the final products that can be created.
