Create Stunning One-Pull Gelli Print with Layered Circles for Unique Artwork
During this video I am sharing with you how I create a stunning one-pull Gelli print with layered circles. #gelliprinting #arttutorial
I am working with opaque paints (Paynes Grey, Wedgewood Blue and Titanium Buff on my 8" x 10" Gelli plate to create a three layered one pull print. The circle texture I am using is something I found in a closing down sale (Wilko in the UK). You could achieve similar results using a wicker/woven placemat. It is important that you let layer one and two fully dry before adding your next layer of colour and texture. I am pulling my final print onto 160gsm cartridge paper (sketchbook paper).

Beautiful!❤
Thank you! 😊
Love this retro look!
Thank you 🙂
Love this technique Clare. Will definitely have a go! Really enjoying the videos. X
Thank you so much, I’m really pleased that you are enjoying my videos. Happy printing! 🙂
Beautifully explained.
Thank you 🙂
I use a tissue or kitchen roll to dab out the paint in between. I found this to be really effective. Bx
That's a great idea! 🙂
I didn’t know about Rex Ray but now I’m in love with!! Great choice!! Thank you!
I’m so glad you like Rex Ray, he is one of my favourites 🙂
Really fabulous!! Thank you!
Glad you liked it! 🙂

Wow, thank you! That’s lovely to hear 🙂
FUN! And really interesting result :-)
Thank you 😊
Never knew you could use matte medium on a geli plate. This is fabulous! Thanks so much for sharing your techniques.
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful 🙂
That's a fabulous tool used beautifully 😍
Thank you 😊
Hello, Clare. Thank you for another excellent video. Your teaching is very much appreciated. A superb finished result. 🙂👍 Thank you. Colin.
Thank you Colin, I’m glad it was helpful!
Do you work in a cool environment ?
It really depends on the technique I’m using. If I am building layers and I want them to dry quickly, I put my air con on (it’s too big for my studio and acts like a giant hair dryer as there is so much air movement). If I’m using a technique where I’m pulling wet layers of paint and I need more working time, I keep my studio cool with no air movement. Hope that helps 🙂
Lovely and I love the color combo!! Trying to imagine how to create the “ thing” that you used. It looks like the plastic clothesline wrapped around some metal circles…hmmm…😊
@@donnacarraway9182It reminds me of a woven wicker table mat 🙂
I love the final result, Clare! I suppose we can use this technique with any solid pattern - and I have many of them. Thanks for taking the time to record the (excellent) video :)
I’m glad you liked the video. You could use this technique with any texture that has holes, so you can remove small areas of acrylic paint on each layer to create ‘windows’. 🙂
Love your work
Thank you so much 😀
Really nice one!
Thank you 😊
Wonderful print Clare done in one go…love it! 😊
Thanks so much Katerina 😊
That makes a fantastic print, Clare. Thank you for showing your very clear process and lovely result.

Thanks so much! 😊 I always find myself reaching for those blues and greens.
@@ClareCosensDesigns those are also some of my favorite colors…so I am naturally drawn to such a beautiful print! :)
@@Katerina-vm2ok Thank you 🙂
Loved this Clare. I was worried about using them on the gel plate in case they didn't come off! Thank you ❤
Glad it was helpful! They do stain your Gelli plate, but it doesn’t affect the quality of future prints. 🙂
Great tips..thanks
Glad it was helpful!🙂
Hello! I just found your videos, and I’m so glad I did! I’m new to gelli printing, so I’ve been watching lots of videos. Yours is the best I’ve found! You are clear and concise, and you explain the why of what you’re doing! Also appreciate that you don’t play any music! I did subscribe and give you a thumbs up.❤
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I’m really pleased that you found my video helpful 🙂

@@JillGF Glad you liked the video 🙂
Wonderful….thank you for sharing your tips when laying out the collage! Very useful.
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
fabulous.
Thank you 🙂
Another great video, thank you. Given me lots of inspiration.
You are so welcome! Glad you found it helpful 🙂
What kind of paper did you use for the foundation piece?
Just a piece of sketch book paper. Sometimes I use a piece of copier paper. 🙂
Love this. Need to work on printing first though xx
I find this is a great way to use up all the prints that don’t quite work 🙂
Terrific compositon tips thanks Clare...love the idea of using positive and negative shapes too! Your videos give me enough ideas, techniques and inspiration without being overwhelming. Much appreciated ❤
Glad it was helpful! 🙂
What paper are you using.
I’m using a piece of sketchbook book paper for the base. The Gelli prints are also printed onto sketchbook paper. 🙂
So beautiful!!!! Please more geliprinting. Have a nice day🙋♀️
Thank you! What Gelli printing techniques would you like to see? 🙂
Gorgeous! I never thought about stitching on a piece! Do you have issues with glue building up on the needle?
Sometimes, if I use a ‘wet’ glue, like matte medium. That’s why I try to use a small amount of Pritt-Stick in the areas I’m not planning on stitching. Just enough to hold it in place while I stitch. 🙂
Fantastic work!❤️🌹
Thank you! 😊 I’m glad you like it.
Beautiful Clare and I love the blue/silver combinations. Your instructions are great, thanks!❤ Rex Ray is one of my favorite artists.
Thank you so much! Rex Ray is definitely one of my favourites 🙂
How do you dry and keep your seaweed please?
I just placed the seaweed in between some copier paper and placed it under some books and anything else heavy that I could find while I was on holiday. 🙂
@@ClareCosensDesigns Thankyou for answering. I’m going to go to the beach on the weekend and look for seaweed now! I love what you are doing!. I just found you by accident, but I’m so impressed with what you are doing.
@@managementprimeinterventio1849 Thank you, I don’t know the names of the different types of seaweed but you are looking for the flatter types, they work best. Avoid the seaweed with the big nobly bits, that doesn’t work very well. 🙂
