I have my original fat PS5 as my main home console, but also have a PS5 slim digital. The new PS5 slim digital for me personally is best to travel with, like taking it to family and friends house and game over there. I did upgrade both PS5 the original with a 4TB and the slim digital with a 2TB SSD. I got a travel backpack for the slim, I do like how it's smaller. Whatever console you have I highly recommend the 4TB SSD with games taking up a lot of space nowadays........
If you do store it in a cabinet I’d always recommend keeping the door open whilst you’re playing. The PS5 certainly lets out a fair bit of heat. At least the PS5 slim is now a lot easier to fit on a desk now too! 😊
Only thing that sucks about the slim is when using the pulse earbuds, u have to plug the usb dongle in the back because they’re no longer any in the front, and when you play for a while it can make the dongle very hot and then the pulse earbuds disconnect and won’t reconnect until cooled down
Well that sucks! You could get a usb-a to usb-c adapter if you wanted to put it in the front, or you could get a USB-A cable extension so that you could place the dongle further away from the back of the console. Still sucks though.
Everyone says the slim is too loud etc, but maybe its me, but I have it for over a month now and its silent. Like you dont hear anything at all. The air flow is fine, only hotter with heavier games with insane visuals. It has 800gb room.
As I know on "slim" they used the same nanometer chip so slim version is not actually more advanced technology unlike PlayStation 4 slim . so it's just more compact that's the only difference and it has one terabyte hard drive versus 800 something gigabyte of fat ps5 . It is worth it for the storage space alone but as far as the build quality I think the original is better it has bigger heat sink and better heat distribution
You forget the slim better the hdmi better and put it far away from the power wire so it doesn't get the hdmi damage. Lot of the fat ps5 hdmi get damage because of that same problem. So yeah the slim is better.
I got the first Ps5 and I have it a few years now. Now I have some problems with my Ps5 that I couldn’t explain. So now I want to trand in by my Ps5 and get the slimmer one.
Had a slim for 2 days. Returned it. Fan/power supply noise was just too annoying. Was able to find get a Gen 1 and super happy so far. No noticeable noise or anything.
Bought my brother a PS5 Slim as an early birthday gift, who is an xbox user with a Series X. He is happy he can play the games that didn't get a One X enhancement also happy that he can play PS exclusives he always wanted to try.

My 2020 Marantz integrated amp has optical in and a decent built in dac but im going to instead have to pay like 100 bucks for a Dac that will actually work with ps5 of which there are not many cause ps5 uses an outdated codec UAC1 instead of the current UAC2 which im assuming sony could fix with a simple software update. Very lame of sony.
Just got my slim and while playing Spider-Man 2 in fidelity mode, I could hear the console even with my headset on. My previous PS5 was whisper quiet even in those more tasking games. All I can say is give it plenty of room to breathe.
@@TheUncleSpiderX I’m not having an issue any longer. I just had it closed in too much. I sold my original PS5 a while back when I was going to stick solely with Xbox. Ended up picking up a slim later, which I like because it’s smaller, lighter, and has 1TB vs 825GB.

I then replaced it with the Playstation 5 Slim Disc Version since the Disc/Digital are interchangeable. I'm now waiting on my Playstation 5 Pro.
They cost a lot of money. Of course I’m going to be careful’ 😀😀 I did do a video covering the pa5 pro, and I have my thoughts on it. You’ll have to let everyone know what you think of it when you get it.
the slim is a cost reduced ps5 but they did not lower the price. i think the original ps5 is better. the slim seems to run hotter and make more noise. the original ps5 has a better heatsink. the slim hard drive is only 175 gb more so its not a big deal. the size is not an issue for me. i think this is a cashgrab console from sony.
What I found out is that shops have no control over PlayStation equipment. I asked a gaming shop if the ps5 will go on sale (there was a sale weekend coming up) they simply told me we don't know we'll see what Sony wants todo with them.
And it's ironic you mention the cabinet because that's exactly why a buddy of mine bought the ps5 slim because he realized the O.G ps 5 he bought didn't fit in his tv stand.
You still need one of the stands whether that’s the 2 little legs or the vertical stand because you need to let the airflow from all sides of the vents on the ps5 to have space to be able to breathe.
The face plates of the pa5 extend over the edges of the console so if you have it in the vertical position then the face plates keep the bottom of the console raised off the ground. No harm in getting the stand, I just don’t think it’s compulsory.
@@MyTechGearGaming I can understand your perspective on why you feel it’s not needed i just say that because I’ve seen some people had problems with their ps5 sometimes and usually it’s just overheating because they have sat their PlayStation vertical with no stand and while they do extend over the edges the air flow still comes out of each and every vent regardless. I rather keep my horizontal because of the area of the space I have right now so it’s not blocking my monitor (I do need a new desk anyways but still).

As someone who owns both console, I think I wanna return the slim. Linus video's shows that the Slim is quieter by 0.2 db but if you look at his comments and other video, the comments will all tell, why is their Ps5 Slim louder than the Ps5 Phat? And also a few testers shows that the slim is indeed a tad louder. Personally me, I also did experience this, about my Ps5 Slim running a tad louder than my Ps5 Phat. I think that if you don't believe anyone, just do some thinking because we all know that the Slim n Phat has the same nm chip, so putting that same nm chip in a smaller case/heatsink with smaller heat dissipation materials would make a little more noise/heat. I would buy the Ps5 Slim if its my first time having a console because when we buy our first console, we wouldn't really care about the noise, heat, and basically tech stuffs, we would only care about the immersive games. But who cares? The Slim will be the only option once the Phat runs out or the pro could be waiting just right in the corner... We'll see in about a few months..
Literally no one has complained of it being noisy or overheating. Been having mine on literally all day for the past month and its running quiet and efficiently
Idk why but imo the slim just looks cooler. Idk if its because the plates are just two seperqte pieces instead of it being one whole plate. Thats just me tho
I’m still rocking the OG PS5 with a 500gb M.2 so in total I have 1.2tb roughly of free space. I use the console storage to hold my games and I transfer games I want to play to the M.2 drive since it’s a little faster then the consoles SSD.

Ironically I received the PS5 Digital launch version the same day Sony officially revealed the Slim. Glad I did that because I wouldn't have been happy with this new version of the console. Plus I reckon the original versions of the PS5 will be worth more money in the future if I want to sell them both for extra cash towards a new PS6 or some games.

This is a common mistake a lot of people make and later wonder why their system sounds so loud. Put your system on top of an open desk somewhere or some other open area.
There’s no real difference in temperatures between the two. In tests the ps5 slim ran a degree or two hotter but was slightly quieter than the original ps5. The most important thing is to make sure you have plenty of ventilation around your ps5.

the one I mention in this video is what I bought and has been great. I did go into it in a bit more detail in this ps5 ssd install video here -> th-cam.com/video/E3RC6eeVP18/w-d-xo.html Pretty much any ssd that states 'works with ps5' or similar is going to be fine. The more expensive ones are marginally quicker but unless you're super picky you're not going to notice it.
I would never purchase a PS5 without a disc as I couldn't get free upgrade of FF 7 for disc owners and also like using it as a BD player + play my old PS4 games.
Also you forget the slim have a better hdmi and they put it far away from the power wire so it doesn't get the hdmi damage. Lot of the fat ps5 hdmi get damage because of that same problem. So yeah the slim is better.
“This is better because I have it and I say so” It’s the same technology. One has more space. Makes less noise. Doesn’t over heat. One has less space. Makes more noise. Over heats.
I Just Got A Slim Last Week. My Guy Has The Original And I Honestly Like the Look Of The Slim Better And It Fits Better Inside My Bags. The Only Thing I Dnt Like Is That The Fans Are Exposed At The Top Due To Not Having The Grills. I Have No Clue Why Sony Decided To Do That But It’s A Terrible Design Flaw. But That Is My Only Complaint. And Even Tho I Just Got A Slim, I Will Still Be Getting The Pro, I’ll Just Trade The Slim In And Pay The Difference.
@noegarcia3978 gamestop, just traded in my OG phat for a slim and ill trade the slim in for a pro when that comes out. Only paid 50 bucks for the slim out of pocket. (Had controllers to trade in too.... and still do)
I haven't noticed any considerable difference. I'm assuming you're talking about fan speeds here? Fans on both the PS5's are noticeably louder than the Xbox Series X though. That thing is comparatively whisper quiet.
Interesting do you think sony may have had some cost cutting on hardware say perhaps like the PS3 60 gig model not saying it effects performance in anyway shape or form but cheaper hardware to maximize profits but revamped the design as a good selling point. Looks nice mind but will stick with the OG.
the 2 USB C ports on the front ISN'T good. The controller now needs to connect to the back to charge and any headset dongle will need to be plugged into the back where it can potentially melt from the exhaust. Not to mention the two USB C ports on the front are different. The bottom one will be super speed and the top is high (slower). The controller also ISN'T good. It's not comfortable for two fingers on the shoulder buttons. The handles are far too small to properly grip with the ring & pinky fingers.
The controllers come with a usb c cable and so plug into the front, not the back, of the console. The controller is the same as the original PS5. You should make sure there is enough ventilation around your PS5 to prevent over-heating and you can also use a usb cable extender to move the dongle away from the back of the ps5 if you wanted to.
I have the same problem with my new PS5 Slim. The first day I bought it I played Resident Evil 3 and the fan was very loud. Other games like LEGO STAR WARS didn't demand as much from the console and you couldn't hear the fan at all. Has anyone had a very loud fan since the first day they bought the PS5 Slim?
This is my opinion only. I think the ps5 slim is better for people just getting a ps5 slim i personally think its better and no I'm not saying the slim is better i personally don't care about the design for it i think it's good tbh
I'll stick to my 2022 OG disc PS5. The only good thing about the slim. Of your disc drive fails. You can swap it out. Vs where I would have to send my PS5 in to get repaired. I can't just easliy swap the disc drive if it fails. I rather Sony do it. Then a 3rd party guy.

With tech there is always something just around the corner. So if you want a console now then I’d say get the PS5. You could look at pre-owned ones too to keep the price down.
@@MyTechGearGaming well I have the spare money to get a new one and new is always better than pre-owned I just hear that there's so many problems with the original versions of the PlayStation 5 and the controllers that I was basically asking would you recommend to get the slim or the pro because I honestly don't like that the slim has such a open Gap where are the ventilation is but have you heard of any major complaints or issues with the PlayStation slim or the controllers?
both the controllers and the console have been fine. I haven't had any issues with them. There is no release date for a 'pro' of 'ps6' model. It's all rumour at this point. So I'd always recommend get what you can, not what might be. You could always upgrade later if you wanted to.

Sitting here waiting for my ps 5 come come, only to be told the disc drives are extra. 😟
Hey thanks for the information, which SSD is better in ps5?
the one I mention in this video is what I bought and has been great.
Using PS5 Slim digital for month. It’s decent and I’m having more fun with it than XSX. No regrets.
I finally brought a PS5 for the smaller FF. The original is too big for my setup, and the storage space is way too small.
The slim is underwhelming. Happy to save my $$ and wait till Nov 2024 aka the anticipated release of the PRO.
I still prefer the original ❤
I got the original with £100 off in the Black Friday sale.
“This is better because I have it and I say so”
It’s the same technology. One has more space. Makes less noise. Doesn’t over heat. One has less space. Makes more noise. Over heats.
That literally doesn’t mean it’s better. Are you slow
If you don’t have a ps5 by now wait for the ps5 pro. Don’t buy the slim.
If you want PS5 but slim buy it now, don’t wait for pro.
Where would you trade it at?
@noegarcia3978 gamestop, just traded in my OG phat for a slim and ill trade the slim in for a pro when that comes out. Only paid 50 bucks for the slim out of pocket. (Had controllers to trade in too.... and still do)
Hello. Is is considerably louder? Thank you.
I haven't noticed any considerable difference. I'm assuming you're talking about fan speeds here? Fans on both the PS5's are noticeably louder than the Xbox Series X though. That thing is comparatively whisper quiet.
@@MyTechGearGaming Fan speeds at max load at longer time intervals while gaming was what I had in mind. Noted. Thank you for the info.
Interesting do you think sony may have had some cost cutting on hardware say perhaps like the PS3 60 gig model not saying it effects performance in anyway shape or form but cheaper hardware to maximize profits but revamped the design as a good selling point. Looks nice mind but will stick with the OG.
The OG PS5 is way more boss on every level even if the slim is more efficient than original just hits different IDK maybe it's just me.
For a second I thought I was about to get all the quirks and features of the PS5 from Doug Demuro
I’ll take that! I’ll take Doug’s subscriber count too! 😊
When it comes for design for me it's like this. PS2, PS4, PS1, PS3 and than PS5.
The slim versions or the originals?
I wanted to buy PS5 and use it on my 75 inch Samsung QLED, it will be awesome! But sadly at 50 I've completely lost interest in gaming.....
Sold the og PS5 and got the slim
the 2 USB C ports on the front ISN'T good.
You have no idea what you’re talking about lmao
they also sell usb a to c converters. I use them all of the time to plug external hard drives into my Macbook.
the original ps4 : half matte half metalic
the ps4 slim : full matte
the original ps5 : full matte
the ps5 slim : half matte half metalic
Okay c'mon man you know those little tooth pick stands suck.
I know 6 people with a ps5. Im the only 1 with a slim and the only 1 with crashing problems.
Old PS5 Gang All Day!!
The slim is good as the original but I prefer the original.
Subbed & Liked! Enjoyed the video! Good work & God bless in ‘24!
Thanks so much, and welcome to the channel! 😊
I brought the original ps5 today
How
The slim is also louder than the OG PS5.
Interesting. My OG loud AF.
my friend told me that the ps5 slim overheats easily. is this true?
This is my opinion only. I think the ps5 slim is better for people just getting a ps5 slim i personally think its better and no I'm not saying the slim is better i personally don't care about the design for it i think it's good tbh
I'll stick to my 2022 OG disc PS5. The only good thing about the slim. Of your disc drive fails. You can swap it out. Vs where I would have to send my PS5 in to get repaired. I can't just easliy swap the disc drive if it fails. I rather Sony do it. Then a 3rd party guy.
great efforts ty
Thanks! 😊
Guys I wanna buy ps5 and I’m confused so which one I should get plz help
I would go Slim but either one is cool 😎
Mate I'm thinking of getting the slim with disc drive and we're I live in Ireland the Internet is crap, can I set it up out the box with disk drive with android mobile data tethering because my purchase may depend on this being a yes please help, Thanks and stay well.
You don’t need a fast internet just for registering the disc drive so you should be fine.
@@MyTechGearGaming pal thanks alot for your input as it's help me make my decision As I said hope your having a good 2024 so far and pal stay well I'm going to suscripe to your channel because I might need some help down the way hope you don't mind, basically what I'm trying to say is thank you for your time and expertise. Have a lovely night..
Not a problem. Glad I could help! 😊
Hope you don't mind me asking but I live in an apartment complex so the air quality isn't always great and I'm 5 stories up when I buy my ps5 slim disk what's the best way to position it for air flow or does it matter.
my ps5 slim is on its way, super excited but its a shame I need to purchase a vertical stand. ://
You don’t need vertical stand but I bought one anyway with official charging dock and extra controller. It’s perfectly stable without stand.
I got one but it’s a bit loud ngl I’m gonna exchange for a other one tmr and see
Which one is quieter than the PS4 PRO?
both very queiter than ps 4 pro
My first ps5 gone for the slim 😊
The old model is better.
Dude its literally the almost same model
@@LIL_Perny No it is not. It is made out of cheaper material.
@@rubenberrios6777 maybe they put extra money on the 1 tb😂
Not really. You're just salty because you're too poor to buy it again lol
They are the same price dude
When you look at the side of the ps5 slim it looks like a refrigerator. 😂
practically no difference got it
The size should have been released in the first place!
Slim sucks. The fat one is the better one, I got the last model of the fat ps5 last August, I'm loving it
Fat version sucks. The slim version is far better than the og ps5. The only problem with the slim version is its stupid plastic stands.
@@wasifrock687 fat ps5 is still better and everyone agrees
@@califaern3sto i got the slim version and honestly I'm very happy with my ps5 slim. I haven't come across any problems yet.
@@wasifrock687 me either with the fat, it's the last model right before the slim came out
It's really the same console but slightly more noisy and hotter. If we compare all of the Ps5 out there, the 1200 series is better out of all of them.
I have just gotten the spare money to be able to purchase a PlayStation 5 so my question is would you suggest I go ahead and get my first PlayStation 5 and it be the slim or should I wait until the end of the year possibly beginning of next year for the Pro keep in mind I do not care about size I do not care about specs as long as it's a PlayStation 5 I could care less if it's the original the slim or the pro I am only trying to figure it out because I want the one that would last the longest and because we're only possibly a few months away from knowing everything there is to know about the pro I'm debating if I want to just wait and get the pro and guarantee that I have the more up-to-date console for the next 5 years or so or should I go ahead and get the slim and just be good enough
@@MyTechGearGaming thanks for the info and I think I will go ahead and get the slim model because I've got upgrade my TV to a 4K TV too
@jacobburnette7639 enjoy! 😊
Its the Same …
I’ll pass on this and wait for the Pro better.
What about like my PS5 original busted would it be best to replace it or get the slim
It’s really up to you as they are fundamentally the same console performance wise and so it’s just whether the changes made to the slim model are important for you or not.
@@MyTechGearGaming I went with the slim since I never liked the PS5 look ...still don't but slim look a little better
@@MyTechGearGaming Thanks for the answer btw new subscriber here
Welcome to the channel! 😊
I need a PS5 Pro to run those PS4 games 😂
When this Slim model came out? 😮
Nov 2023
@@wasifrock687 But didn't see any form of marketing and stuff for this! Weird.
@@MainakRoyChowdhury same here. I was surprised too.
Good luck not overheating it by putting it in the TV cabinet there
I have the door open when I use it and it's fine. It's still alot loader than the XBox Series X though that's next to it.
People who designed PS5 style and people who designed Toyota cars should get together and have coffee
For me where i am the digital version is like alot cheaper
i will choose the fat version
Get em both
it doesnt matter slim or original.
ps 5 crashes. it crashes in the middle of a game.
